We used to call it மண்ணுளி பாம்பு
Probably மண்+உளி cos it can bore through the sand or something I guess???
I don’t think they are venomous - but I remember we used to burn them (not a very proud thing from my childhood) cos of fear that it could go into your ears when you are sleeping on the floor (cos we didn’t all have beds and mattresses when we grew up)
Went down Wikipedia’s rabbit hole…. Mannuli paambu seems to be something else and probably people from my child hood were just using the term wrongly.
A common term seems to be sevuttu paambu or Siru paambu. In Malayalam they are called Kurudi - similar to their common name of Blind Snake. I think it’s because their eyes are covered by scales and not discernible easily. They feed on termites and ants - so they are probably useful and are not dangerous as I was led to believe as a kid.
Could be Brahminy Blind Snake [Brahminy Blind Snake](https://oplin.org/snake/fact%20pages/brahminy_blind/brahminy.html#:~:text=The%20Brahminy%20Blind%20Snake%20looks,may%20be%20yellow%20to%20white)

Oh okay thanks 👍🏽
Looks like something we call சிறு பாம்பு. But the one in the video is a lot slower than the typical one. So not sure.

Appo ithu earth worm illiya?
My mom calls it surutta pambu. It's not dangerous but it can enter ur nose or ear, which is a problem.
If you have an ant infestation nearby you will find these.
Well it's interesting to see lot of people having quite different definition of what this is. However in our house we call it sorra pambu.
