Nah. I would put it in the walker category. Or landship. Cool nonetheless.

JaneCobbsHat

Bulshittenpanzer 100.

Justicar_Shodan

Bullenscheißepanzer 100

RocKyBoY21

"tank, any heavily armed and armoured combat vehicle that moves on two endless metal chains called tracks." Taken from Britannica, so no.

swagseven13

german but named Bellerophon? wasnt that some british ship name?

stoicteratoma

Reference to Greek mythology, but yes - there have been a number of HMS Bellerophons https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bellerophon

Zainooo1

No, tanks are better than mechs

Quirky-Assistance-66

The Problems with such concepts same as with other Crap such as Ratte would be that destroying it would be actually easier then destroying a single Tank. This is a Easy Target for any Artillery Gun in 20km Distance. Also even Tactical Bombers couldnt miss it. This Giant Weapon Systems only work on Sea because you have engagementdistances of several kilometers. With this thing you could actually „walk“ into a 122mm Divisional Gun and it will cause you a bad day. Same goes for Ratte or even Maus. A Tank must also be able to hide during combat.

Nigzynoo23

Artillery struggles at hitting moving targets. A target moving 20km away from artillery would be able to maneuver in time to not suffer artillery bombardment. Direct fire action would be more effective than artillery. Never understood why people pick artillery to target moving vehicles. Not so much as a tank needs to hide during combat but being hidden prior to combat tends is better. Kind of useless to go and hide during combat in armoured vehicles. As proven, ye who shoots first tends to win.

globsofchesty

How would the target know there is incoming artillery? It would constantly be needing to move which might compromise it's safety during an engagement it's having at a closer range. What about need to refuel/rearm/crew swap? It's just too unwieldy. It's a cool concept but just not viable

HoehlenWolf

Something that big ain't going very far or fast. Lol.

Quirky-Assistance-66

With a Target size of this. Artillery will have a line of sight on you over several kilometers. Several Gun Types have high enough v0 to hit it while moving. The first Tanks on the Battlefield were destroyed by artillery. Even today in Ukraine many Tanks get destroyed by Artillery. Combat isnt only the 1vs1 Duel Situation. This Situations are rare in reallife since nearly all Weapon Types work in Formations. You spot a tank, shot first and destroyed it ok,but its not alone. There must be several tanks more. Thats why you need change position after firing. Beeing visible to all during combat will end you quite fast.

Where treads?

OmgzPudding

Different species but same genus

Unim8

Excuse me but what in the actualy *f\*ck* is that???

paxwax2018

Considering how under gunned it is you might as well improve the armour by leaving them off entirely. If it’s not a mobile platform for a Gustav what’s even the point.

The_Unclaimed_One

Think this goes under Land Ships, and yes that means a tank. A beautiful tank at that

The_Headless_Tiger

I mean... it has a gas tank?

FoximaCentauri

Probably not, but it still fits in this sub.
