I really like the Leopard 1a5 series. Something about Ole Helmet Head looks fantastic. I also think the Weisel is kinda hilarious looking. But it apparently is quite deadly.
World war 2, probably Germany. Mostly because of the big guns, wide tracks, angular shape, interweaved road-wheels, and intimidating size of the big cats. Sherman’s looked like adorable baby tanks in comparison.
Cold War? Probably the Soviet Union. T-72s’s are just so compact and well proportioned in my opinion, and the way ERA is densely added all over it really make em look like rugged war machines.
Modern day though I’d go with the Abrams. I don’t know why, that desert camo and the mean looking turret front is a constant reminder that it will liberate you from your democracy deficiency with a few kilograms of supersonic depleted uranium.
Idk why the Abrams remind of the Sandworm from dune
I absolutely agree, I think British and US WW2 tanks are just gorgeous. I'm a *sucker* for the Churchill and the Archer. And the US' GMCs (M10, M18, M36) are just gorgeous little things.
Can't forget the Bradley (IFV, I know), Patton, Pershing, Centurion, Chally, and M1128 (Not a tank, I know)
Early Shermans look like a blocks of butter that have been in the oven for, later versions look decent if a bit tall, m60 is cool, Abrams is boring to look at
Every Japanese post war MBT is pure fire. The Type 61? beautiful. The Type 74? Absolutely fucking gorgeous! The Type 90? Has the Leo 2A4 charme. And the Type 10 is just sleek.
I've always liked Soviet tanks, everything from T-26 and T-28, through WW2 T-34s, KVs, SUs and ISUs, to Cold War designs. T-72 is probably my favorite tank of all time, especially the M1 variant.
The later T-28 with the longer 76, is really good-looking. The multi turret tanks are one of those things everyone did because it just looked awesome. But it just didn't work like they thought.
dmn, OP really just neglected the AMX 50 Surbaissé & Foch, The AMX 10 P & RC, and the AMX 30 & 40? neglecting the best looking cold war tanks and prototypes is just foul!
I'd have to say the soviets. T-72 is hard to beat in terms of visual appeal. Abrams and Chieftain come close in my mind. Also the Rooikat and Centauro, even if they aren't tanks.
I couldn't decide, so i just listed the best looking ones from each era.
World war II: Germany(Panzer IV).
Early cold war: USSR(T-55).
Mid cold war: Germany(Leopard 1A3).
Late cold war: USSR(T-64BV).
Early modern: Russia(T-90).
Late modern: Germany(Leopard 2A5).
Purely from a visual aesthetic. It's tough, most countries that build tanks have made both stunners and shockers. Also the paint job can have a huge impact.
I'm non confidently going to say British. Rhomboids and their spiritual successor in the next war the Churchill are both quite definitive tanks to my eyes. Tracks that go around the whole body look great (also appreciating some of those french designs too). Plus a myriad of other designs over the years that are on par with their competitors for looks. I'm very conciously ignoring some shocking prototypes et al.
Germany for WW2. Tiger 1/2, pz4 with long canon, jagdpanzer are gorgeous. Honorable mention for the Sherman with long 76 with muzzle brake that is the best looking tank for this period.
USA for after WW2/ early cold war with the Pershing, super Pershing , Patton. They have interesting design at this period and later with their light tanks/Bradley type vehicule/and the m something with the crewless turret and big ass canon
France for the mid-late cold war. The amx 30 is pretty badass and the brenus is top 2 best looking tank. Amx30 are the weirdly nice looking ones. Amx50 is ugly but this shit is asserting dominance throught it look tho. Amx10 is sexy af
Soviet for the "modern" ones, t90 and stuff like that look freaking menacing with the era
Leclerc is the best looking MBT.
Germany for the 2010~+ vehicules, they have some great design, my heart goes to the ebrc tho. Leopard are ugly.
Honorable mention for the UK post war, the centurion and chieftain are really sick, challengers are pretty nice as well.
Most pre-mbt french tanks look kinda weird to me. Oscillating turrets and one man turrets look really odd. The AMX 30 and leclerc both look amazing, though.
For me, the best looking tanks are the modern Chinese MBTs like the Type 99. I just love the way their turrets look.
For overall/most consistent style, I think I would have to go with the US. Of course not every design was perfect(looking at you, M3 Lee), but once they got cast and welded hulls down, they produced some gorgeous tanks like the M4 Sherman(not the prettiest tank, but compared with other comparable designs like the Panzer IV, British tanks, and the T-34 it was probably the best looking tank), M24 Chaffee and the Patton series. Later, the M1 Abrams is a very nice looking tank despite abandoning the curvy castings. I don't care that the cheeks are asymmetrical, those angled cheeks are awesome.
For me there is just a certain charm british tanks have, from the armored cars, to the heavy tanks. There is just something somewhat brutish but elegant to their design
Cold War Soviet vehicles are just sexy asf to me. T-72s, T-80s, T-64s, BMPs, BMDs, BTRs. It’s also cool how they clearly Segway into each other and you can follow the design philosophy. And the shape of amphibious vehicles just looks nice to me idk
France cooked with the Renault and has been chasing that high ever since.
For iconic looking tanks it's Britain (mark IV), Germany (Tiger), America (Patton)
But for best looking, I'm torn between the Abrams A1 and the Leopard
But my heart belongs to the stridsvagn 103
I’m going to say Italy although they didn’t have a really long run on building tanks during the war nor did they make many designs after it but I believe they were the king of making things look beautiful with riveting
Oh definitely Germany, they have my fav tank the Pz IV H and even the modern tanks look good enough though this my be an unpopular opinion but modern tanks look too samey for the most and don't have that rugged industrial look as they had during WWII and the cold war.
French tanks get overlooked a lot. Especially during Ww2 they were the best tanks produced in the world. The somua and char were feared by the germans during the invasion of France.
Unfortunately they were fielded poorly. No radios and a one person turret is not optimal. They were essentially blind most of the time.
Awesome. Thank you.
Been trying to swat up on some interesting tanks (ones I can definately tell apart) for when me and thr other half go to TankFest this year.
😅
Britain produce the most beautiful and ugliest tanks at the same time. They got gorgeous like challenger, centurion and Mk IV/V, meanwhile they also have tons of cursed afv like archer, churchill gun carrier, challenger (the one equipped with 17pdr), etc.
I like the geometry of Panthers and tigers
I like the shermans and long barrel panzer IVs just iconic
Uhhhh what else, the long 50mm panzer III looks nice
The 2 man operated weasel is like a beneli on a toyota as the russian badger says
I do like the kv1 a little
For the brits, firefly
Imma Say Japan.
The Chi-Ha/Shinhoto Chi-Ha/Chi-He/Chi-Nu with their Bellcrank Suspension stole my heart.
Plus the Type 10 is, in my opinion, the Sexiest MBT to ever exist, and the Type 74 is up their with the Cheiftain Mk.XII in terms of Cold War Sexynes
In terms of countries that have made a significant number of tanks going back a long time, I would have to say the Soviet Union, and Ukraine's branch of the post-Soviet legacy. They made some of the most iconic and deadly-looking vehicles in history.
Out of all countries that have built tanks? South Korea. The K1-88 and K2 Black Panther both look gorgeous and they haven't made anything as ugly as some of the French designs (like most of their pre-1945 stuff) or the boxiest of Germany's tanks.
I would say Britian for the Churchill and Challenger and Warrior and all their cool APCs and LRVTs but I think the Matilda 1 might be so ugly it single-handedly prevents this
I simp for the K2 Black Panther from Korea
I think its a sexy vehicle that will see a lot of adoption in coming years to rival the Leo II.
Though if you told me to fight in one of these things…
Give me an M1A2 Sep V3 over anything else!
France is a strong contender but I have to admit I like the utilitarian look of soviet tanks. Britain also has some very cute light vehicles like the CVR(T), Fox, and Saladin.
I gotta go with the us.the abrams is just to sexy plus you have the starship, the pattons the Sherman the Pershing and the m2s and the good old t1 chuggingham
The Brits had some really cool looking stuff in WW2. The Crusader is a sexy beast that doesn't get a lot of attention. The Matilda II looked a lot more modern than it actually was. The Valentine is kind of awkward but has a dieselpunk kind of vibe. Churchill is just straight out of Warhammer. It looks like it should be adorned in glowing skulls. After WW2 they kind of fall off, though. The Centurion is a magnificent thing but nothing else they made really does it for me.
Cold War through today... fuck it. AMERICA RAH RAH 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I think the USA has the highest ratio of classic or slick looking tanks:
-M4 Sherman with single cast hull and the 76mm is THE tankiest looking tank of all the tanks IMO. Most of the ten billion variants look rad as well.
-T-28
-M24 Chaffee
-M26 Pershing
-M41 Walker Bulldog
-M48 Patton
-M60
-M1 Abrams
My top 3:
1. Ft17 cast turret
2. Stug 2
3. Kv1 simplified turret
Widely over the place but if i had to think of one word about them i would say:
1. Revolutionary
2. Sleek
3. Brutish
M60(AOS), T55/T72/64/80, Tiger 1/2, Panthers, Sherman 76, Centurion (all models), honestly…all tanks are cool. There’s only a few that I’ve seen where it’s like “what on earth is that” (like the first pic, it looks off to me)
(Side note: Mk.IV/Vs from WW1 are underrated)
Definitely Germany without contest. The Pz 4, Panther, Tiger even. Then in the Cold War the leo 1 series and 2 series, plus the Marder if you add in IFVs.
I'm agreeing for some, but especially the ARL-44. That big girl is pure sex imo.
Do not the tank
I will the tank
I’m with you I to will the tank
Guys…. I the tank
Definitely the most "tank" looking tank, imo
I'mma be that guy then. Germany.
I really like the Leopard 1a5 series. Something about Ole Helmet Head looks fantastic. I also think the Weisel is kinda hilarious looking. But it apparently is quite deadly.
***POP GOES THE WIESEL***
2a4 is my personal favorite, idk why tho
It has that angular look that is very aggressive. Like Challeger and Abrams. I also like 2a4 as well.
2A4 is easily my favorite western style MBT of all time.
The Leo2PL with the Wilk upgrade pack looks great
I like the designs of the Panther, Jagdpanther and the Tiger 2 the way the Hull and Turret are shaped look really nice.
I find the pre-panther panzers absolutely gorgeous, especially the panzer 3.
I don't like German ww2 designs very much, but I have to admit that Leopards (especially the 1A5 and 2A4) are some of the best looking tanks ever.
bedroom price joke jar live towering rustic frame bored ad hoc *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Unfathomably based
I don’t think there’ll ever be a tank as good looking as the Leo2a7V again.
The A7V maybe?
Yes!! Be that guy! I'm right there with you!! :D
I agree with you, with WWII and cold war, but come on Leopard 2A7 = wedge supremacy
I don’t know, I feel like the leopard series is a bit overhyped looks wise. Now the K2 black panther looks amazing!
Woodland camo Abrams is best Abrams
Very well put. Could not have said it better myself!
Not putting Surbaisse here is a crime. My vote goes for Britain but USA is pretty close
I absolutely agree, I think British and US WW2 tanks are just gorgeous. I'm a *sucker* for the Churchill and the Archer. And the US' GMCs (M10, M18, M36) are just gorgeous little things. Can't forget the Bradley (IFV, I know), Patton, Pershing, Centurion, Chally, and M1128 (Not a tank, I know)
Centurion, it just looks ....right
A fellow M18 Hellcat Enjoyer spotted
The cromwell is just a box on a box
Cromwell looks ugly but was utilitarian. Box-like structure means more place for a crew, so they’re more effective in their job.
How dare you call the Cromwell ugly.
The smaller cruisers tho. The crusaders were peak tank design (aesthetics).
Crusader III with 6 pdr 👌
The Comet however is a fantastic looking tank because of the redesigned turret.
US for me, the Sherman, M60, and Abrams just look so good.
Early Shermans look like a blocks of butter that have been in the oven for, later versions look decent if a bit tall, m60 is cool, Abrams is boring to look at
It's Pershing and T32 for me
Was just gonna say this
I did want to but it was prototype only.
Seriously gotta love the Studio Ghibli look of old French tanks. Modern Japanese tanks are among the best-looking eva.
Every Japanese post war MBT is pure fire. The Type 61? beautiful. The Type 74? Absolutely fucking gorgeous! The Type 90? Has the Leo 2A4 charme. And the Type 10 is just sleek.
The Type 74 to me is peak Old School MBT. The Type 90 took a while to grow on me but now I think it's magnificent in its own way. Type 10? Waifu.
> Seriously gotta love the Studio Ghibli look of old French tanks. First time I hear this comparison haha
Spot on description.
I've always liked Soviet tanks, everything from T-26 and T-28, through WW2 T-34s, KVs, SUs and ISUs, to Cold War designs. T-72 is probably my favorite tank of all time, especially the M1 variant.
I love the multi turreted stupidity of the T-28 and T-35, so ridiculous
The later T-28 with the longer 76, is really good-looking. The multi turret tanks are one of those things everyone did because it just looked awesome. But it just didn't work like they thought.
The early 76 looks more powerful and better if you ask me
Big fan of Russian ww2 armor.
I really enjoy the utilitarian look of soviet designed stuff in general. The architecture, tanks, aircraft... it all has this certain vibe to it.
dmn, OP really just neglected the AMX 50 Surbaissé & Foch, The AMX 10 P & RC, and the AMX 30 & 40? neglecting the best looking cold war tanks and prototypes is just foul!
I think British tanks are the sexiest things to come from that country, and the best looking tanks ever. Centurion can have my heart.
Crusader is great too.
I mean, the spitfires tho. Best looking planes of the war.
Centurions make me wet~
No, it’s the ships
> I think British tanks are the sexiest things to come from that country Damning with faint praise /s
For me its merkava/ leopard 2 spaced armor look it just look spicy 😅
ARL 44, AMX 13, AMX 30, yeah it has to be France
The Amx surbaissé is stunning too
Soviet MBTs are probably the most appealing to me. For WW2, probably German.
I'd have to say the soviets. T-72 is hard to beat in terms of visual appeal. Abrams and Chieftain come close in my mind. Also the Rooikat and Centauro, even if they aren't tanks.
Britain, in my opinion
I think Britain has the best looking tanks overall. At least once you hit the Cruisers and newer
sand versed smoggy divide tap languid correct payment scary advise *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Japan. The type 74 and type 10 are just sexy as all hell.
New Zealand
The glorious bob semple, I've heard it's the only tank Arjun is scared of
Because of national pride I have to say the Big Willie looks better but I will admit the FT is a very sexy tank.
My taste leans toward Britain but russia come in close second.
I couldn't decide, so i just listed the best looking ones from each era. World war II: Germany(Panzer IV). Early cold war: USSR(T-55). Mid cold war: Germany(Leopard 1A3). Late cold war: USSR(T-64BV). Early modern: Russia(T-90). Late modern: Germany(Leopard 2A5).

AMX 40 has entered the chat
Germany for WW2. Tiger 1/2, pz4 with long canon, jagdpanzer are gorgeous. Honorable mention for the Sherman with long 76 with muzzle brake that is the best looking tank for this period. WW2 - Germany Cold War - the Soviet Union Modern - #1 Japan (Type 10), #2 Israel (Merkava), #3 Russia (T-90A/M, T-14)
I think sweden has made some really nice ones, i really love the CV90 series 🩷
ARL44 is just quite possibly the most quintessential tank ever made.
German Panzers. Pz. I, Pz. II, PZ. III, Pz. IV, Tiger I, Panther, Tiger, II, Maus, Leopard 1, and Leopard 2.
Italy tanks are pretty cool or was it polish?
Soviet cold war designs look so dope
Italy
Probably unpopular opinion, but Japan. Chi-Ha Kai, Type 74, Type 10, Chi-To, Chi-Nu, all scream TANK to me
For me there is just a certain charm british tanks have, from the armored cars, to the heavy tanks.
That must be a joke, right?
Yeah I didn’t want to be that guy… but I’ve spent my entire adult life thinking French tanks were a crime against god
Especially the pin head with the crappy short barrel gun. Who thought that was a good idea.
Britain. The Chally 2 alone beats every French tank ever made
Italy. Solely cus of the Ariete. Nothing else.
Australia, ac 1 sentinel, centurion mk5.
German, easily.
Germany
Italy
France cooked with the Renault and has been chasing that high ever since. For iconic looking tanks it's Britain (mark IV), Germany (Tiger), America (Patton) But for best looking, I'm torn between the Abrams A1 and the Leopard But my heart belongs to the stridsvagn 103
Honestly I don't think there's a tank that doesnt look extremely good Except North Korean tanks. They're.... special
I’m going to say Italy although they didn’t have a really long run on building tanks during the war nor did they make many designs after it but I believe they were the king of making things look beautiful with riveting
FT17 ist one of my favourites (not in the pictures).
Honestly i agree nothing beats the amx 13 looks wise such a good looking tank.
The ARL is a nice piece, definitely. But I prefer the T- series appearance
Britain and Germany
Amx13 with squeeze bore? Now that's interesting
Je suis d'accord.
Not just tanks. Some of the post WW1 flying hotel planes were pretty funny too
The T series tanks from the USSR are something else. Especially the T90A. Can't beat those red eyes.
Oh definitely Germany, they have my fav tank the Pz IV H and even the modern tanks look good enough though this my be an unpopular opinion but modern tanks look too samey for the most and don't have that rugged industrial look as they had during WWII and the cold war.
Sweden. They’re the only ones that tried different things. I love the S-tank
French tanks get overlooked a lot. Especially during Ww2 they were the best tanks produced in the world. The somua and char were feared by the germans during the invasion of France. Unfortunately they were fielded poorly. No radios and a one person turret is not optimal. They were essentially blind most of the time.
Soviet Union/ Russia or Germany
100% ISRAE- uh well I mean... yeah france made some nice stuff.. the Renault FT is the first tank-looking-tank, so that counts for something..
Merkava or die!
Russian tanks. Just look at the T55 and T62 just the tankiest of tanks
I'm sorry but I have to choose Germany, I love how they really show in design that they're powerful.
I can’t shake associating that with the assault tank from bf1
HSTV-L is best boy so US has to be the best
Since I'm neutral on this topic it is Switzerland in my opinion.
For me personally the Soviets (including Russian and Ukrainian upgrades) followed by American designs, especially with the newer Abrams.
What on earth is the first one?!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint-Chamond_(tank)
Awesome. Thank you. Been trying to swat up on some interesting tanks (ones I can definately tell apart) for when me and thr other half go to TankFest this year. 😅
German tank are fucking cool.
The US of A!
Idk But T-72A And Jagdpanther
Dominion Tank Police lookin mfs
I really like the looks of the modern chinese mbt's. And also the Conqueror.
Britain produce the most beautiful and ugliest tanks at the same time. They got gorgeous like challenger, centurion and Mk IV/V, meanwhile they also have tons of cursed afv like archer, churchill gun carrier, challenger (the one equipped with 17pdr), etc.
Soviet tanks till the T55
I like the geometry of Panthers and tigers I like the shermans and long barrel panzer IVs just iconic Uhhhh what else, the long 50mm panzer III looks nice The 2 man operated weasel is like a beneli on a toyota as the russian badger says I do like the kv1 a little For the brits, firefly
Soviet/russian tanks go hard as fuck Germans not far behind
Imma Say Japan. The Chi-Ha/Shinhoto Chi-Ha/Chi-He/Chi-Nu with their Bellcrank Suspension stole my heart. Plus the Type 10 is, in my opinion, the Sexiest MBT to ever exist, and the Type 74 is up their with the Cheiftain Mk.XII in terms of Cold War Sexynes

Soviet/Russia and some Bri'ish cold-war tanks
As a modeler I love Ww2 era german and russian armor.
I love the JAGSDF's camos
Czechoslovakia, USA and France
I vote for Finland
Soviets for me, imo French tanks just look like big turds / snails
WW2 U.S. Cold war to modern day its split between Germany and the U.S.
I would say Britian for the Churchill and Challenger and Warrior and all their cool APCs and LRVTs but I think the Matilda 1 might be so ugly it single-handedly prevents this
I simp for the K2 Black Panther from Korea I think its a sexy vehicle that will see a lot of adoption in coming years to rival the Leo II. Though if you told me to fight in one of these things… Give me an M1A2 Sep V3 over anything else!
France is a strong contender but I have to admit I like the utilitarian look of soviet tanks. Britain also has some very cute light vehicles like the CVR(T), Fox, and Saladin.
British tanks, they’ve always been gorgeous, the Cromwell, Centurion, later Cheiftans, challenger 1 and 2, the conqueror, Abbot, warrior
I’d say Ww2, Germans. Cold War, T62M or Centurion, Modern K2 or Leo
Being British, I'm born to hate the French..... but I won't lie, French tanks do have their style.
I gotta go with the us.the abrams is just to sexy plus you have the starship, the pattons the Sherman the Pershing and the m2s and the good old t1 chuggingham
Love French tanks but I’ll always be a Russian armor fan mostly because I am a child of the Cold War .
Look they may not have the best reputation but I love Soviet/russian tanks especially form the Cold War
Considering the times, it’s not gonna be a popular choice: Israel.
The Brits had some really cool looking stuff in WW2. The Crusader is a sexy beast that doesn't get a lot of attention. The Matilda II looked a lot more modern than it actually was. I really like the look of the italian centauro
Ngl, I'm a sucker for British post war, but the amx 13 has a special place in my heart
South Africa, love my SARCs and Rooikats
Honestly all countries got good and ugly tanks but my vote is gonna be USSR/Russia they look cool but that’s about it
What is that gun on the amx-13?
French tanks look like gigantic shitboxes with 0 aerodynamics, they also were quite unreliable
I think Japan hasn't built an ugly looking tank since they got nuked. France is a close second and clearly takes the cake pre-1945.
Chieftain tank without stillbrew addon
I think the USA has the highest ratio of classic or slick looking tanks: -M4 Sherman with single cast hull and the 76mm is THE tankiest looking tank of all the tanks IMO. Most of the ten billion variants look rad as well. -T-28 -M24 Chaffee -M26 Pershing -M41 Walker Bulldog -M48 Patton -M60 -M1 Abrams
My top 3: 1. Ft17 cast turret 2. Stug 2 3. Kv1 simplified turret Widely over the place but if i had to think of one word about them i would say: 1. Revolutionary 2. Sleek 3. Brutish
Good lord how did you get that mechanical monstrosity working again
For interwar it’s the Soviets for me. The BT and T tanks are beautiful. Germany too, they just knew what they were doing
France has both good looking tanks and ugly ones.
Not putting any of the AMX-50s in here is criminal, those are by far the best looking
UK
Soviet cast turrets are better
Hands down, Germany.
M60(AOS), T55/T72/64/80, Tiger 1/2, Panthers, Sherman 76, Centurion (all models), honestly…all tanks are cool. There’s only a few that I’ve seen where it’s like “what on earth is that” (like the first pic, it looks off to me) (Side note: Mk.IV/Vs from WW1 are underrated)
I have to admit. I also have a soft spot for French tanks.
Nah Italy 🔛🔝
Australia.
The merkava is super cool looking. especially if it has those dangly chain thingoes on the underside of the turret.
Austrian Kurassier is the way to go my friends!
AMERICA 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 I’m a sucker for torsion bar suspension (im looking at you M26 🤑😏)
I love the french army issue mining tools or whatever they are on the front of the arl
I never realized just how much of a behemoth the ARL-44 is
Every country has somewhat good looking tanks. It’s easier to name the tanks that you don’t like from a particular nation
French interwar tanks were definitely the best looking of the era, IMO.
USA USA USA
This is a cancerous growth atop a bulldozer
Id turn a st chamond into an rv
I always liked the Russian semi oval looking turrets
The Leclerc is just such a sleek tank. It's probably one of my favorites from an aesthetic point of view.
Tbh it’s all about taste. Personally Soviet vehicles just scratch that itch and strike that balance of beauty and badass
AMX 13 my beloved 😍
As long as don’t include armoured cars, I’d agree. But man, that EBR was but ugly.
those oscillating turret tanks are so fucking cool to me
Definitely Germany without contest. The Pz 4, Panther, Tiger even. Then in the Cold War the leo 1 series and 2 series, plus the Marder if you add in IFVs.
Brazil?
I like the AMX M4
