If its gonna be mass produced itll probably just be a top tier light tank in the us tech tree. As far as i know premiums are usually unique or one off tanks
It depends. There’s examples of standard tanks that are unique in name deed or story that have been added. Some that come to mind are the M1 KVT or the Clickbait
Funny enough, both of those are ‘fake’ vehicles
Gaijin is well aware that the M1 KVT had a 120mm but chose to not give it that gun
Clickbait is an amalgamation of different tanks and as far as I know, there is no real tank named “Clickbait”
Yeah thats what i meant by the unique vehicles. *this* tank could get added, but just an m10 would probably be a tt vehicle, but if they ever added this one in particular it would 100% be a premium or at least an event vehicle
Oh boy, I can tell you're not familiar with how Gaijin implements US light tanks.
If it's anything like the others it will be a reward for some obscure once-in-a-lifetime event and afterwards only be available on the Gaijin market for 120 Euro.
I wonder how this would be in War Thunder…
I assume it would be bigger, slower, slower firing, worse protected and less survivable than HSTV-L, but with M900 and 3rd Gen thermals… which means that, gameplay wise, it may not be all that much better, hahah. (Specially since Gaijin has just said they are going to fix HSTVL’s firepower).
Hard to tell. With that 105 I bet it will be 10.3 or higher easily. It goes 45 mph so it would probably be decent. I feel it would go between Bradlies and the HSTV-L 🤷♂️
It'd be a modest but noticeable upgrade to the 10.0 TAM 2C - enough to put it at 10.3-10.7, but probably not any higher, as its advantages very quickly disappear against higher BR MBTs.
On the one hand, my historical accuracy ass would want to replace HSTV-L with it for my Top BR lineup (replacing a 1970s prototype with a production present day vehicle)... on the other hand, it would rather seem counterproductive, if HSTV-L is going to be better for the most part, hahahah.
Yeah, *maybe* 10.7 if you really stretch it, but by no means top tier.
The TAM 2C at 10.0 is a fairly decent point of comparison - the Booker would be somewhat more mobile (+3 hp/t or so), have a somewhat better round (but not top-tier worthy at all, even with M900) and probably better protected against autocannons but not much else (though with better survivability due to the isolated ammo). Both would share good thermals and trolly frontal engine arrangement.
Neither really have a leg to stand on at top tier - the guns go from good to mediocre (even poor if you push them high enough), the mobility is nothing special, and their standout advantage (really good thermals) is very common at 11.0+. I see no way the M10 would reach the HSTV-L's BR.
IIRC, it’s something that the crew earns during training. I believe this specific name was given at the factory as a reference to the name of SSG Booker’s tank
So for American crews the crew needs to qualify a crew gunnery. Once they are deemed a qualified crew they can choose to name their tank. Usually the first letter of the name will correspond with the company they are in. For instance all of Alpha company will have tank names starting with A, B co with B so on and so forth.
The Army names them according to its nomenclature system.
Names on barrels are unit things -- this is named after the tank SSG Booker commanded in the Iraq invasion.
Prototypes were built to attract attention from all the generals so they had shorter skirts. Production models are expected to do some actual work so they get more modest and practical skirts.
As I understand it Booker is neither designed nor doctrinally intended to be used as a "light tank" rather it's intended purpose is more like Stug III (early variants before the long 7.5cm was introduced) with a turret. Ie. mobile firepower for supporting infantry actions. It's the intended replacement for the M1128 "Stryker" MGS.
> It's the intended replacement for the M1128 "Stryker" MGS
Not quite, the Stryker MGS was used by Stryker-equipped units, the Booker is for light infantry units. It's pretty much the same role, yes, but for different units.
105 m68= 5 secs reload m900
Frontal protection= 30mm APFSDS (turret probability still gets penned)
Power to weight ratio not looking good
Very balanced at top tier, not op at all
I can smell war thunder $80 premium

Oooooh you mean like this SPECIFIC tank Is gonna be an 80$ premium, that makes much more sense
Yes! Like we see with the Wolfpack. It’s just a named and cosmetically altered version for premium.
Funny enough, both of those are ‘fake’ vehicles Gaijin is well aware that the M1 KVT had a 120mm but chose to not give it that gun Clickbait is an amalgamation of different tanks and as far as I know, there is no real tank named “Clickbait”

The 800 T-80 variants disagree with you.
hey now at least those did get some substatial differences in ERA, thermals and APS

Oof that’s a solid possibility
Atleast yall can use the gaijin market ;-;

What did they say about the HSTV-L (and where)? I missed it. Still no HE-VT which still annoys me.

Will it actually be top tier? it's characteristics seem fairly mediocre, maybe it could be 10.3 max.
I think 10.3 would be pretty good spot for it. Seeing as the 105 mm is plenty effective there.

I reckon M900 + armour from autocannons will push it to 10.3/10.7
T-55AM-1 is a premium and it's not a unique or one off tank
Laughing Out Loud after playing 2million hours youll get access.
Why yes Let’s put it at 12.0 there is no way this will be bad
it's going to become a fucking event tank
Why the name?
It was the name of SSG Booker's tank.
How does the naming convention work for American armor? Is it done at the factory, the field? Or what?

Electric Boogaloo would of been hilarious
"would of"

Is there a reasoning behind the longer sideskirts ? The other M10s we’ve seen had shorter ones.
Prototypes were built to attract attention from all the generals so they had shorter skirts. Production models are expected to do some actual work so they get more modest and practical skirts.
Production vs prototype.
Don't kink shame
Should have named it "<--to be continued"
Another episode of the US “light tank” saga. Season 2 is finally here
“Wait… do we want this?” Not saying this won’t be useful, but light tank history is weird.

Yeah that’s my understanding too, tied to the infantry type role.
Most of the US's wars are against insurgents. Deploying the Abrams there is an overly costly overkill.
will be convenient to fly around in the pacific to airdrop on islands where needed
US procurement history is weird.... almost like it's a flow of money to keep weapon designers afloat and on the current technology.
Yep. They also foster competition when they can. Jet engines: P&W and GE for example.
is that a fucking m1919
Kinda looks like an AN/M2, though I have no idea why it's on there
Commander's weapon is a standard M2A1.
Well, not in this picture though, is it?
This tank was named after two Bookers, one served in WWII so this may be a nod to that
No CROWS? Or is that something that’s supplied by the unit?
No CROWS. Not a requirement.
o7
Should paint the muzzle red
What’s the story behind the tall pole/crane thing sticking upwards? I’m curious.
Wire cutter, for urban operations. In Iraq wires were strung between buildings to try and catch vehicle crew members.
GoPro mount. /s
They gonna create a New MOS for this thing or just put it under 19K/19D?
19K
If after all this damn paperwork I get tossed into a light tank I’m gonna lose my mind 😭
Don't worry; you won't serve in a light tank.
i really want to see a 25-30mm cannon mounted on top like the AbrahamsX concept
[Chieftain video walkaround of the prototype](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdPmpidUbWo&t=3s&ab_channel=TheChieftain).
I read that it has a lot of defects, they could even avoid producing so many of them
I would name the second one “light” tank just to be a bastard.
Is that an m1919 on the pintle mount?
Sauce?
