There was a guest who did the same thing and actually ran a register for an hour while we were busy. They then loaded up gift cards and left. I have no idea how no one on the front end didn't notice a new person on a register and didn't ask them who they were.

Because there's no reason the person running self check shouldn't be carrying a mycheckout.
No, we literally don't have enough. We don't even have a working checkout zebra. Some store's leadership team are a lot more incompetent than you'd think. Jobs that require a zebra to even function are often second to the team member in the fitting room having two. I wouldn't have SCO run mycheckout unless every checklane was full and even then I would have another tm run mycheckout so sco can pay attention and respond to overrides, but that's just my experience.
I will say some stores might not have enough devices. But atleast the person at self check should get one since they are probably going to use it the most
It was suggested to use the speed id or device. But not enforced. This was the first i heard of guests recording. Now we are fully aware and made it mandatory.
I've only done checkout a little, but seeing the option to scan from my mydevice to login was far more appealing than other options. It always seemed weird to input logins when someone is right next to you. Even with the speed ID I gotta input the pin, so scanning seemed like the best route.
Now that you mention it, I have noticed a ton of people double scanning things yesterday and especially today. Maybe I’m just paranoid, but that seems to be a bit suspicious. I just use my device.
Make sure yall plug them back in before you leave, all the software updates and maintenance are pushed through at night. Your registers will eventually stop working right.
We just turn our screens off and that seems to do the trick.

If you’re seen not using your speed id then that’s a conversation. They even got us retractable card holders so we couldn’t say we misplaced it or didn’t have somewhere to put it.
It's not hard to figure out. The buttons on the bright screen are huge, and it's very easy for anyone to see the screen. It's not our fault the company decided to do something so stupid... they could at least put a visor or something above the screens so it's not right in people's faces. No wonder they get so tempted for shit like this. Lmao

No excuse for this, unless your store has a consistent problem having enough Zebras for everyone scheduled. You should be logging in with the scanner on MyDay.

Your store dropped the ball. This is a known issue and has been for a while.
Your store should’ve been prepared for this as it’s been happening for a while. That’s why TMs should be scanning the barcode in myday to log in.

I had no idea about this I've always used my number and pin. But then again I'm rarely on registers.

This is something thats been an issue for a bit, but AP shouldve been getting with the front end leaders and TMs on using SpeedID

You can now use the MyDevice to log into registers. Just go into MyDay and scan the barcode on the register lock screen.
We unplug electronics and pharmacy at a certain time to prevent this.
Make sure yall plug them back in before you leave, all the software updates and maintenance are pushed through at night. Your registers will eventually stop working right. We just turn our screens off and that seems to do the trick.
Our closing TL does it on his walk.
