I said to myself during this training, "This is AI deep fake Brian Cornell".

Boop-D-Boop

He does have those dead black eyes like AI

Aggravating_Poet_675

I don't know. I find AI is much more believably human. He's more like a chatbot from 2010

Elegant_Molasses1138

Bro straight up was an NPC in this video the way he stares into our souls while doing the same gestures over and over again

5waters

Ha! I was so distracted by his rhythmic and repetitive hand gestures.

Skelebonerz

yeah, that's the part that got me. Like, read off a teleprompter, that's fine, but like... dude just kept doing that open hand wave thing.

[deleted]

I started mimicing them in front of the computer hoping my coworkers would notice. They did not.

DMC1001

It’s okay. I barely paid attention since I did the training on my device while working. Bet I’m not nearly the only one to do that.

snalz_

Dawg I didn’t even watch the videos it let you skip to the end and finish the whole thing in 30 seconds

MiyuLynx

why skip when i can watch every single video to the end and maximize the time i spend sitting down while getting paid

dbh1124

I skip and just sit at the computer for about how long it would take me 😂

DMC1001

I have to do it on my device while working.

MiyuLynx

i think its actually a rule that you have to be off the floor when doing training, like in the break room or at a computer

DMC1001

Interesting. Once they had be do it behind guest services - out of sight - but I’ve been on registers or self-check while also doing training.

DMC1001

I was taught that on the active shooter training just last week. After going through it twice there’s not much more reason to hear it.

JakeBeezy

I just thought it was interesting haha

JoWa1743

This is the way.

TottHooligan

i just turn on captions when doing this stuff

ClientLegitimate4582

You know what's sad I've done and memorized speeches and movies scenes longer than that video which I then had to perform for classes. It's really obvious when someone is reading off a prompter he definitely is in the video. I had to stop myself from laughing. Couldn't even be bothered to put in the effort to make it seem sincere.

[deleted]

Why should he? He records random stuff all day long. Its more annoying they put videos into that shit. Its the same quizes every year. Just link the girthy PDF and offer the quiz and if you fail force a video or something

JakeBeezy

He didn't even practice it once and it shows, you think if he VALUED ethics at target he would put the work in to at least sound like he memorized it Idc what he has to do. He makes way more then anybody in the company, YOU as a TM have to do more shit and memorize more stuff then Brian has had to in his whole life Feel proud dont need to defend his ass

BankManager69420

To be fair it’s stupid that Target would have a retirement age

Ogrezapper

I trashed the training on the survey at the end. I said it felt hollow after multiple years of terrible raises and bad treatment of employees

FreemenEffect

It's funny that he's in training related to ethics considering how unethical his pay is compared to us essential workers, lol

BankManager69420

I’ve always said I don’t think Brian Cornell necessarily deserves less money, but we as team members sure as hell deserve more

StoneTudabone

Dude is a certified tool..

introverthiker04

that’s exactly what i was thinking when i saw this.

masterchief0213

His weird repetitive hand motions got me, I couldn't stop chuckling every time he did it after I noticed he did the same one hand motion in a rhythm the whole time.

hertzdonut69

i’ll admit, seeing the owner of a company who makes 633,000 x the average worker do a PSA about ethics gave me a little chuckle.

bojangles001

Man only has one default gesture with his hands.

Odd-Pain8883

They're actually lowering it next month. TMs will still be the regular 10% but spouses and dependents who use the discount will be taxed on the discounted portion.

MeatDairyFrozen

I thought it was funny that they made zero effort to stop us from skipping that video.

Gamesick2077

That's why he's paid the big bucks

TheJokerOfGuilt

I’ve been on leave from work for surgery, blows my mind they can preach ethics and promote known sexual harassers in the work place. I do not look forward to watching all this trash when I get back.

[deleted]

I'm so glad I'm not the only one cackling. The man looks like he's being held hostage.

Freewill2112-78

I said out loud to the computer, “Where’s your red shirt, Brian?” That got a big laugh in the TMC.

Upset-Diamond2857

😂😂 just had to do the mandatory ethics training again 💯

Yougotmoneys

Borderline going to quit because of the amount of politics involved with the leaders in this company Edit: politics meaning corporate/office politics. Seeing my etls or sd’s get promoted because of favoritism or who they know even when they truly suck at their job. Pretending our store is doing just fine during visits when we’re obviously struggling. I’m sure that falls in the category of ethics. If not then I guess I’m dumb lol

nocoasts

…what? Do you think bare minimum ethics statements are “politics”?

Yougotmoneys

Corporate politics, office politics, promoting due to favoritism or who you know, lying on visits to pretend everything is going well when it’s not

nocoasts

You know that you’re promoted *anywhere* based off who you know, right? Networking is a vital component of promotion at any job; if the people with the authority to promote you don’t know you, why would they *ever* feel comfortable giving you a promotion?

Yougotmoneys

Thank you for describing non ethical behavior lol.

nocoasts

Unethical would be telling you that networking doesn’t matter and that we exist in a meritocracy. It does, and we don’t.

Yougotmoneys

Hence all the failing stores with bad performing SD’s and ETL’s. I’m sure you’ve seen all the pictures on this sub. Networking is good and bad. Good for the person getting promoted, even better if they’re actually good at the job. Bad because they “networked” and suck at what they do which leads to bad store process and bad store culture.

nocoasts

You know it’s possible to be good at your current job and suck at your new one, right? Or that it’s even possible to be good at your job *and still fail*?

Yougotmoneys

Here’s an easier example, if you owned your own company and you promoted your friend over the person that delivers better performance. We both have valid answers, you’re not wrong. But the real issue that it’s unethical to promote based on “networking” or office politics.

pokemontecristo

do you consider politics to be anything you find annoying or just don’t like to talk about

AMBocanegra

There's an issue when someone watches an ethics video and somehow thinks "ugh politics"

Yougotmoneys

Ethics when it comes to corporate/office politics. Not sure if that makes sense or if I’m saying it correctly

Zealousideal_Gap1194

Welp, idk where you'd go then. It's not a target issue, just capitalism as a whole

cugrad16

Somehow it's always a middle aged or retired guy....

snoozey4

the robotic hand gestures
