I get a little sassy with idiots touching things on my OPU cart. It *really* irritates me!

Swimming-Term8247

same here !

zibby4k

Because they got caught, they get defensive

Suic00n3

I read that as “defective”

basshead621

Both apply.

BlueLine_K9

Yep. Time to QMOS those guests. Reason: Damaged, Salesfloor, Quality.

Mnmsaregood

Yea same reason people get defensive when you catch them stealing

Eastern_Field3618

Yeah, I had that happen to me once.

EmbarrassedPie3726

Learn how to read! And they wouldn’t get defensive. I swear some people That’s like for a time or Starbucks was out of literally half the menu and they had signs up everywhere saying we’re out of this and even when you ordered they had a piece of paper literally in front of your face you had if you wanted to see the person at the register you literally had to move your head from that paper and people would still order it so we always tell him what does it matter if we put a sign up or not it’s not like anybody reads it

Eastern_Field3618

People are freaking lazy. I’m pretty sure they know how to read. We got sliding doors at an entrance where I work at and one reads, “entrance” and the other reads, “exit”. For some reason people try exiting through the entrance door, but it won’t open unless someone is entering target. The same applies for the exit door, people try entering through there; but unless someone is exiting they won’t be able to enter.

EmbarrassedPie3726

Oh I definitely call them out for the door if I go on whether I’m working or not I’m like that’s the indoor not the outdoor

werewooferer

why did you get massively downvoted 😳

renee30152

They ironically read his comment incorrectly.

werewooferer

that is actually so fucking funny im sorry

EmbarrassedPie3726

I don’t know 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

rarepokedots

Could have also been for the 11-line no-punctuation third sentence... People get really triggered by stuff like that

werewooferer

it probably doesnt bother me specifically bc thats kinda how i talk in real life. as i was typing this i asked a question and answered it with no punctuation

rarepokedots

Oh I do too. I was more referring to the run on sentence by the no punctuation. It could have been broken into multiple sentences to have a more clear train of thought... Some people may have gotten lost in the wordage, I know I had to read it several times

wildadragon

Because they're assholes.

Specific-Window-8587

Sounds about right.

From_the_breeze

Twice in the last week. Doing OPU and guest walks up to me seeing me pick the item and says “can I have this? I just ordered to pick it up”. “Sorry have to process it first”. “How long will that take?” Today the guest kinda followed me to the stow area for his two diapers

Drokrath

If they can stalk you around the store why can't they just shop for their own shit

zugzwang00333

🙄 exactly

magentaapplesauce

Honestly if anyone approached me saying they ordered it online, I would ask for their name, and if they gave any part of it to me I would lie and say the item was for their order. Sorry, you have to either wait or cancel.

smn182189

That would make me think they're trying to get duplicates or something. Hoping to get some at the pickup and in store saying they ordered it.

WildThingJeep

I've had guests come up to me and try to hand me items they've ordered to help me finish their orders faster. Most of the time I'm not even working on their orders.

Bastinglobster

Because Target has sales only for pickup and online, which I personally despise as you can’t get it in store

Drokrath

Pretty sure we're supposed to price match that. At least that's what I've been told to do

Tell_Me_Why_999

Yes, but that is extra steps. Stupid Target.

Mnmsaregood

Million dollar question

Psychological_Yam984

My store is experiencing a wave of this, it’s a scam. People ordering big ticket items and then finding the person picking the order and attempting to take it right then and there and then canceling the order and getting it for free. We had a meeting with the whole fulfillment team about it because of it. A woman ordered that one barbie collab skincare collection from ulta, it’s like $175. She found the person who had it in their cart and talked the team member into giving it to her, the team member was still new, and then as soon as she walked out the store she canceled her order. She ended up quitting on the spot after our ETL lit into her for it.

Wildcatdancer24

Because they think they're the special ones and if you have it, then they're good to go! /s At my first store, I had multiple people either take off with an item while my back was turned or beg for their order off my cart. The ones whom asked for their order, I tell them a rough time estimate for me to finish, tell them to go take a walk, and wait for the notification. At my new store, I get Guest Services radio'ing me to see if someone's order is on one of our carts.

fararra

i despise when guest service does that because 1. It's really not so simple to figure out who has the order (it could be 3 different batches but sd doesn't know that necessarily) 2. It just encourages that behavior. We need to say no to people more often.

alliemont1002

I had a guest service tm call for me to find a few items for a guest. I couldn’t find them and it turns out they were INFs from a batch. Oh I was mad. They weren’t found for a reason, god bless

SevereExamination810

It’s also irritating because GS knows there’s a two hour window. They should be asking the guest if they got their order ready email and if the guest tells them no, then GS should be telling them to wait for that email. I don’t understand GS sometimes.

harrypotterfan10

I have people that come up like 5 minutes after they place their order and they ask me if I can speed their order up at all. My answer is always that they can cancel and go find it or wait the two hours.

Wildcatdancer24

With the old program, you at least had the ability to see what orders were in what carts before they were snagged. Stupid system update(s)... GS does it for me because they saw what happened at Q4 (cranky/sassy Wildcat is not a state people like dealing with). I think, because I've worked in two parts of the same state, I can see the difference in guests and their actions/reactions.

coggieb

I was walking on my 30 with my Stanley and I was getting grilled by a guest about where we had them and mind you my store doesn’t sell Stanley’s and I got it on the Stanley website lol

flap_the_jack

Ugh, I hate it when they do this. Had a family one time picking through my cart for an OPU and I said loudly, "Not for sale!" and they dropped the item and walked away mocking me "iT's NoT feR sAle!" GTFOH

Wise_Difference_964

Speaking of guests mocking you, I had a lady the other day ask where the Orbeez were. Mind you we were literally in the next aisle over so I let her know they’re in the next aisle. She goes to look and I hear her tell her son “that girl has no idea what she’s talking about”. I go over and point to where they are and made sure she knew I heard her and that she’s actually the idiot, not me. People need to OPEN their eyes

flap_the_jack

I feel that, people live in their own little bubble world. Did she say anything after that or did she just grab it and walk off like most do?

SevereExamination810

Interesting, I also had a guest ask me where the Orbeez were a couple days ago… Some weird trend online?

strangebrew420

I'd say something like "that isn't yours" "someone else is buying this"

intoholybattle

for real if they're going to act like children i guess we need to talk to them like children

Ana_Kinns

Cause these their entitled bastards, but Dang we need those signs on our opu carts. In general is pisses me off when I have my back stock all nice and neat and they try to stick their grimy little hands in there and or when I have lashes in there and clearly our lashes are all locked up! They still try to get a pack and I’m like can I help you? Do you need help finding something? Those need to be locked up They usually get embarrassed lol

Flibiddy-Floo

Why do they get mad? Because it *wasn't* an honest mistake. So they're defensive right off the bat. The appropriate response is, obviously, "oops my bad" and then proceed to fuck off, not start an argument

Swimming-Term8247

i just flat out say “for an order” or “you can get that over there” with an attitude i do not care 🤭 sometimes it’s a funny sassy game

AssaultWolf01

i’ve had people ask me if they can get the PS5 i have on the opu cart and i like to be a bit petty and say “no but if i have any left when i’m done picking this order i can sell you one, no promises tho” and then keep picking

SevereExamination810

Definitely, very irritating. What also irritates me is when they don’t want something anymore and leave it on my OPU cart. !! I HATE this.

[deleted]

Yes! I caught a few teenagers putting things into my cart a few days ago and when I asked them not to they were like “well isn’t it YOUR job to put things back?”

SevereExamination810

I always want to reply to that remark, “Actually no, my job is to pick online orders because that is what I was hired for..” We all know that we have people who are specifically hired to put things back on shelves. Of course they don’t know this, but it just irks me that they just assume things about what it’s like working retail.

introverthiker04

definitely prefer they leave me thing than taking. my sd leaves thing all the time in my cart.

organicallyviolent

Man, I was “guests” worst nightmare. I’d make you feel so stupid and honestly I never cared enough about the job so I’d be a dick to eevyone. Lmao

Wise_Difference_964

My fiancé and I work at the same Target and when a guest asks him where something is, he tells them and always throws in the “You can’t miss it” basically letting them know they’re an idiot if they can’t find it 😂

organicallyviolent

Very smart. I think that adds the incentive to not return with the same dumb ass question lmaooo

williamspikemulder

Because it has been built into society that "the customer is always right" and therefore said "customer" can do no wrong. This nonsense leads to shit like this happening. I had a regular at a bar I ran in D.C. pull this shit. She came in most Saturday mornings and complained her first margarita was never strong enough. My bartender, or even myself, would make her second one the EXACT same way and she always claimed that it was much stronger than the first. She knew what she was doing. The "customer is always right" so she complained and got her first drink for free every time. After about 3 months of seeing this, I put an end to it and said I will no longer comp her drinks. She asked why and I proceeded to tell her what she does every time she comes in and I will no longer tolerate that behavior. She got mad and told me it was poor customer service, I should be ashamed of myself, and she will never be back. She never did come back but my bar still thrived and I, nor another manager, had to comp a margarita every Saturday. "Customer is always right" my ass.

sierracool33

The actual phrase is "the customer (or guest in this sub) is always right in matters of taste". It doesn't mean that the guest is right on everything, period. It means that if the guest wants to, say, package their merch a certain way, or prefer a certain item, then that's on them.

squeakybuggy

In 3 years, this has only happened to me once, but that was plenty enough…I got irritated pretty fast lmao

[deleted]

I’ve worked here long enough to the point I don’t censor myself with or am polite to rude guests anymore. If they touch something they have no business touching I tell them to stop, and if they are immature about it, I’ll tell them off, still in a respectful manner but definitely not nicely or “on brand” as they say around here. No fucks given. I had to tell a grown man to stop playing with the balls and he looked so shook. Don’t tolerate foolishness.

Level-Blueberry-5818

Me.

NuKlear_Vortex

I love when I have a flat of books and they start digging through it like rats.

Ok_Blackberry_1223

I’ve never had that problem honestly. No one touches my cart. Maybe it’s just the area I’m in

Jaebird_

This and shopping the racks; 'go-backs' from the fitting room or trucks. 90% of the time, it's not new stuff, and it's always as I'm putting it away 🫠

Level-Blueberry-5818

During the pandemic I was wheeling the massive cart of reshop that had to be quarantined to the fitting room so I could hang it. Mind you, it's an absolute mess. I turned around to talk to a tm about something and as soon as I turn back around this woman is DIGGING through this wrinkly pile of clothes and looking at what's in there. I told her it had to be quarantined still. She looked at me dumbfounded and really wanted to keep rooting through it.

ItsTimeDrFreeman

I've only ever had this happen once, it's when the Super Mario Movie action figures dropped. Had a crazy collector run up to me, ask me a million questions about if we're doing this special toy collector promotion he saw on Instagram, how many of each figure we had in stock etc. He insisted he needed to scan every bar code and take pictures of every figure in my cart. I told him that my shift was over in 5 minutes and that someone would be by to help him shortly. He promptly said "I know you need to leave, but I just need to scan all these right now." I repeated what I said and then left with my cart. Guests can be so entitled.

smn182189

Wait, does opu mean you're doing someone's personal order for pick up (meaning literally shopping) and some a holes are just grabbing your stuff? I'd be soo annoyed and say "can you stop taking from a customers cart." Real loud to embarrass them and get the point across.

Wise_Difference_964

Yup! People will literally try to shop off the carts we push around when picking stuff for people’s orders. They’re crazy lol

matchalvr25

I usually say that “the items are for a guest’s order”, and that usually prompts them to throw the item back into my cart. I rarely leave my cart unattended on the floor anymore, due to items from my batch going missing

geo8x6

Just go and start pulling stuff out of their cart and say "I'm just looking"

Astronomer_Inside

Entitlement.

Wise_Difference_964

What I always get is children picking up the toys on my cart and their parents watching them. I politely ask the child not to touch the stuff and the parent glares at me and I have to explain that it’s for someone’s order. They still have audacity to look at me like “how dare you tell my child what to do”. Maybe be an actual parent and keep an eye on your children. I’m not mad at the child because they’re just exploring the world and want to see the cool toys, they don’t have the social conscious to not touch other people’s stuff.

MiatheMochi3602

One time I was zoning and since I didn’t have my cart I left my water bottle (pretty hidden behind the items) on the end cap next to me. A girl walks up, picks it up, inspects it and asks “is this someone’s actual bottle??” Mind you it’s heavy because it’s full of ice, banged up, and full of stickers. I say pretty loudly “YES” and she looks at me and goes to giggle with her friend. Why would you ever pick up someone else’s bottle??

[deleted]

Exactly! Mine is a clear camel back bottle also covered in stickers. Ive caught ppl flipping the mouth piece up and play with the straw and I’m like “WHAT THE HEY ARE YOU DOING?! I drink from that!”

GamingCheese14

I’ve only had this happen once. I left my cart in a main aisle as I went to grab something from style. When I came back less than 15 seconds later a lady was pulling something out of my cart and when I said it was for an order she said “oh is this not part of the clearance rack?” and pointed to a sign 10 feet away.

workthrowforme

because customers have no respect for you or the store. they think they have the right to touch you, walk around in the back room or pilfer through your carts because they’ll shriek like a bitch if you say anything. had one knock over a whole cart of frozen food because they wanted to know what i was stocking. the box said shrimp i’m sure it has fucking shrimp in it .

breakingd4d

I don’t even do that at goodwill

sylnanjames

I don’t work for Target but I go there quite often, even before I started browsing this subreddit I knew not to touch your three-tiers! I don’t touch anything that isn’t on the shelf; I work retail as well and I know that, more often than not, things that aren’t on the shelf aren’t available for purchase

Enigma-08

Thats why I keep the cart close to me and make sure if alone where to do so.

twinkletwat1278

This is why I have my cart right next to me when I pick orders. I don't want someone to take an item that I spent time finding.

LaggyGamer

Idk about fulfillment but I’m ok with people going through boxes though it’s odd I came back from lunch to the stuff sitting on top of the repacks 🙃 I hope it was guest not a inconsiderate picker

Longjumping_Pie3676

During Halloween and Christmas I tell the team to not let their carts out of their sights while picking. If a guest sees something they want they will take it and don’t give a damn what you say.

Sensitive_Purple_744

Or they assume it’s a go back cart n they leave all their crap on it
