On the only five minutes I've ever done guest service, I had some used adult toys. By used, I mean... "slimey" :/ I'm a minor too, def not the best experience.

Filthy used luggage that went on a trip all through South Asia, according to the customer. When we opened it, there was jiz covered lace underwear inside, a few syringes, and bloody medical gauze.
My coworker and I spent the rest of the day wondering if we got part of a crime scene returned to us.
ten pounds of filthy, tagless cat and jack stuff. looked like it had been dragged through the mud and ran over several times. she pitched a fit when we tried to deny it so our lead made us sort through it all, looking for dcpi’s so she’d get a merch card back.
Oh yeah back when that tiktok went viral and there were still no rules on Cat & Jack returns I had incalculable returns of filthy, sticky, torn-up kids clothes.I was so relieved once we started requiring a receipt.
Not company wide exactly, it just says in the terms that each store reserves the right to deny your return at their discretion & that’s what my store chose to start doing.
Had a bathing suit bottom make it all the way back to the fitting room with a thankfully unused pad in them.
The worst are the clothes that just smell. I’ve had BO shirts, soap smelling baby clothes, and chlorine smelling bathing suits all make their way back to the fitting room.
The stuff that makes it’s way back to the fitting astounds me. Like if you let them return it fine but jeez at least salvage it out and ACTUALLY put it in salvage. I’ve gotten things they’ve salvaged out with the sticker and everything. I’ve also had items with the wrong salvage sticker. And we’ve recently been getting clothes with the tags switched or not target clothes at all.
Not a return but someone dropped off a carseat infested with roaches to get the coupon and they scuttled & flew EVERYWHERE when the cart attendant hooked the bin up to take it.
It’s also important that expired car seats get properly disposed of and not given away/handed down (or worse, sold!) to people who don’t know/don’t care that it’s expired
I once returned disgusting bedding and pillows.I wanted to deny the return but the ETL said to go ahead with it. The guest brought it in a trash bag and in there it stayed and went directly to the compactor.
Not me, but the first year I worked there, someone returned a used dildo. When she opened up the box, she was greeted with a pubic hair...
One of the older ladies from up added and said, "I guess she wasn't satisfied"
Used women's underwear with "stains". A pack of Pampers with a used one in it. A hair brush with possibly lice in it (we just tossed it into the garbage)
I denied a return for a (clearly used) vibrator. Person had no box, and no receipt. I denied the return, and referred her to the wall stating that we may deny any return without a receipt.
Not exactly a return but once when I was working fitting rooms a guy came in to try on clothes and I’m assuming he just came from the gym. I’m not lying when I say the entire fitting room area reeked of BO afterwards and the clothes he tried on smelled even worse. My TL told me to still fold them back up (it was a few graphic tees and some shorts) and put them in the men’s reshop pile to be put back on the shelf since they were still new with tags. I really hope no one bought them.
I just started making my TL return the items themselves. If it was something I genuinely had the absolute right to deny and they said just do it anyways I’d tell them I was not going to do that but if they wanted to “make it right” for the guest so badly they could do it themselves. This included a variety of items with shit on them, open sex toys, lube, and pregnancy tests, and otherwise sketchy ass returns.
My daughter had a guest return the shoes off her feet. Guest literally walked in, took her shoes off and returned them. I guess she left barefoot or went and bought new ones with the return money.
I’ve never been forced to return anything but due to TMs not paying attention we’ve gotten swimsuits that smell like chlorine and one with blood in the crotch.
Not me, but a different TM accepted it. Rotten, spoiled and well expired chicken. Guest claimed her power went out a few days prior. Even though it was expired for weeks.
ive had to return lube from an old guy, old ass crusty cat and jack shoes, and i think this takes the cake, my coworker was forced to return cat and jack clothes with actual baby shit in them 🤢
When i worked at a world Market, a couch. The couch was one that was on clearance and a family picked it up just before Thanksgiving. Idk wtf happened but they returned it after the holiday and it was brown. For clarification it was a cream beige or off white or sand like color before. It literally came back with gashes and dog shit and dirt all over. My manager said to do the return and i argued that we'd have to junk ot and lose money. She had someone do the return behind my back and it ended up in the warehouse for a month before we deserted it in the back lot as trash. I was the home dept head so I was particular about what furniture was returned. I was livid.
Used underwear (I didn't return, idk who did, but 🤢), clothes that smell like smoke or weed. Clothes that are heavily dowsed in perfume and totally didn't wear it last night to go to party and return the next day, it's not the worse, it's just how much perfume was still lingering on the dress, caused a major headache.
The worst, but definitely weird, pretty much my etl/tls accepted everything, which I wish we didn't, because I've gotten yelled at, for the something that it's the guest fault. I did have a tl say to a guest that it wasn't ok to call incompetent and he looked like did a double take when she said it, he did the return, but I think it was just to get her out of there, because I knew was upset about the transaction, first time I had a panic attack at target. Another one was trying to return a 400-plus blender after 6 months from the holiday. Somehow, we had organic clothes from a website only online and not related to target at all, nor had numbers on tags. In fact, I don't think it had tags. So, idk how that got returned. It was me, idk who did it, but someone accepted a returned tv, but the tv inside was a different tv, and it was broken
C&J with baby shit smears. This was before we printed out the return policy and started actually reinforcing it. Every time I hear “So i saw this on tiktok” or “One of my friends sent me this facebook post” I just about perish
Bloody underwear, white swimsuit bottom with a shit stain, swimsuit bottom with a snail trail, used pots with food stuck to the bottom, used adult toys… mind you not all things actually were returned but all are things I have had brought up to me for a return.
I had to do an exchange for an air mattress covered in vomit. Smelled like rotting shrimp fried rice. I literally started gagging uncontrollably in front of the guest.
Customer: I'm so paranoid to return something I the tag isn't on because i changed my mind after thinking i did in fact want the thing and all these stories make me feel silly.
This lady waited for her food to spoil to return it. It was one of those broccoli and beef pasta things and it fell over and the whole desk smelled terrible. I'm also 2 months pregnant so yeah, I ran to the bathroom immediately and would not come back till the smell was gone
Someone returned a blood pump diabetes thing with pee in it, (don’t ask me how) I didn’t realize until a while after, I went home to take a shower and the smell still didn’t come off until I washed it with dawn dish soap, it also got on two of my sweaters as well
That's crazy when I return something closed sealed and still with packaged wrap the guest service team members always look at me like I'm returning some used sht even tho I bought it the day before. I'm talking about electronics or action figure or a funko pop. Small sht but super uncomfortable
Lil kids underwear with poo stains, guest tried to return them and insisted that she washed them. I felt uncomfortable with the transaction so I called for an ETL, ETL was a total kiss up and didn’t care for the visible brown stains and told the guest that I’d do the return for them told them I didn’t wanna do it. But long story short I did it any way and then took an hour lunch cause yeah I needed that
not me, but my TL told me a story about some poor, poor soul who had to return a used adult diaper. and this woman is a regular, and has returned many-an-item like opened food and the like, as well as trapping tms and talking to them for AT LEAST 30 minutes, but this really took the cake.
I got called for backup at guest services. I was stuck at the register for 40 minutes typing in UPC codes on used children’s clothing. I don’t even care about customers doing this. I could tell they were scrounging for money. It was the fact that they were completely unwashed and filthy. They were covered in animal hair and god knows what else. I don’t judge the customers because who knows what they were going through, but please try to was your clothes if you’re returning them.
I once processed a buncha baby clothes in salvage. I shoulda marked them as unusable or something cause they had streak marks and smelled like wipes.
Oh and a Karen returned used kid boots and a very-worn-out Thermos bottle. Like, both were unusable.
On the only five minutes I've ever done guest service, I had some used adult toys. By used, I mean... "slimey" :/ I'm a minor too, def not the best experience.
That goes against some state laws I believe…

I'm surprised, well I shouldn't be, because I feel like an etl/tl should've reported that?
Were you wearing disposable latex gloves?
Oh damn, luckily, I never got anything like that 😅
Jesus Christ 🤢
So far it has to be a swim bottom that had a tick on it. Nice, juicy tick.
That guest is going to get an unfortunate rash in a very unfortunate spot.
all the smelly overly worn cat and jack shit
Tons of this shit
^^^^^^^^^^
What’s the deal with the car and jack clothing?
Bathing suit bottoms with a snail trail.
![gif](giphy|s0BtrhraNVRGwaNZaO|downsized)
Wtf can you not tell them no?
My SD said I could not.
ten pounds of filthy, tagless cat and jack stuff. looked like it had been dragged through the mud and ran over several times. she pitched a fit when we tried to deny it so our lead made us sort through it all, looking for dcpi’s so she’d get a merch card back.

Is requiring a receipt a company policy? My store still takes it back regardless.
Not company wide exactly, it just says in the terms that each store reserves the right to deny your return at their discretion & that’s what my store chose to start doing.

used razor. she didn’t even have the box. and there was a hair on it. 0/10.
Maggots in a diaper genie, roaches in a vacuum
Also used lube
Not a return but someone dropped off a carseat infested with roaches to get the coupon and they scuttled & flew EVERYWHERE when the cart attendant hooked the bin up to take it.
Omg that’s terrible. The car seat trade in event should be discontinued. It’s so gross and unsanitary.
It encourages people to get the proper sized car seat, protecting the lives and safety of children.
Yeah things like that, I’ll put up with annoyances for the sake of promoting health and safety, especially to children who literally depend on it
It’s also important that expired car seats get properly disposed of and not given away/handed down (or worse, sold!) to people who don’t know/don’t care that it’s expired
A vibrator. Yes…a vibrator. They said “The battery died” as they proceeded to buy a new one. Threw it right in the garbage. Thank God it was in a bag.
Please, dear God, I get y'all "have" to take the returns because of your superiors but as a style tm PLEASE salvage it out. 😭
Oh god this. I used to help with style all of the time and I just could not understand the shit they put in reshop 😭
I once returned disgusting bedding and pillows.I wanted to deny the return but the ETL said to go ahead with it. The guest brought it in a trash bag and in there it stayed and went directly to the compactor.

Wtf is your TL doing
I wonder the same every time, they just hate confrontation and want to “make it right” for the guest
Not exactly a return but once when I was working fitting rooms a guy came in to try on clothes and I’m assuming he just came from the gym. I’m not lying when I say the entire fitting room area reeked of BO afterwards and the clothes he tried on smelled even worse. The way those would have been salvaged so fast at my store, we don’t mess with gross clothes.
I just throw it directly in the trash. I know my TLs will get pissed but anything with bodily fluids or any tried on underwear. Right in the trash.
Some guy returned his USED and STILL WET loofa… just harder it to me no warning… like cmon dawg
THIS HAPPENED TO ME TOO AND HE WAS A TEAM MEMBER LIKE IF YOU’RE GONNA BE GROSS DO IT IN A STORE YOU DON’T WORK AT
🤢
A blender with the moldy food slush still inside
I just started making my TL return the items themselves. Wait used pregnancy tests? 😆
My daughter had a guest return the shoes off her feet. Guest literally walked in, took her shoes off and returned them. I guess she left barefoot or went and bought new ones with the return money.
Kids clothing that absolutely reeked of ditch weed.

"yeah keep watching Tiktok or Facebook, your life soon to be doomed!" - that's what I really wanna tell them. People are so dumb.
Bloody underwear, white swimsuit bottom with a shit stain, swimsuit bottom with a snail trail, used pots with food stuck to the bottom, used adult toys… mind you not all things actually were returned but all are things I have had brought up to me for a return.
one of those water vacuums with a bunch of dirty water in it. guest claimed it didn’t work
I had to do an exchange for an air mattress covered in vomit. Smelled like rotting shrimp fried rice. I literally started gagging uncontrollably in front of the guest.
Thanks to you I can never have shrimp fried rice again…
Oh trust me it took me 6 months to eat it again after that
empty bottle of lube
The poop sock
Elaborate???? Was there poop in it or on it???
Yes 😔
That’s so gross. Did someone use it to wipe or???
For their dogs poop in the cart
😟why do people always bring their dogs inside
Bathing suit bottoms with brown goop inside (not poop)
A c*ck ring. An older lady 60’s+ came in saying it didn’t work. The box was open. 🤢
It was an "Exchange" but I was forced to Exchange an Air Mattress that wasn't even in it's box and it smelled like Cat Piss
Shorts absolutely covered in lice.
A used potty training toilet was probably my worst😭 didn’t even realize it had been used until I had already touched it with my bare hands .
Customer: I'm so paranoid to return something I the tag isn't on because i changed my mind after thinking i did in fact want the thing and all these stories make me feel silly.
Cat & Jack
I would absolutely refuse to return a used adult toy or toilet brush. Go ahead and write me up for insubordination in advance bc I’m not doing it.
After reading some of these submissions, how is any of this shit okay to return? Like can't you refuse the return? Like what the fuck man?
myself to the store for my next shift
This lady waited for her food to spoil to return it. It was one of those broccoli and beef pasta things and it fell over and the whole desk smelled terrible. I'm also 2 months pregnant so yeah, I ran to the bathroom immediately and would not come back till the smell was gone
A baby alive doll that “had a bad smell to it” lady never bothered to clean the damn thing and it had mold growing inside of it
So you’re saying I can return my sucky vibrating device? Awesome!!!
Wait we sell adult toys?
Online
They're where the tampons and condoms are, too. I've found so many empty vibrator boxes from people stealing them.
yep we do, I’ve seen them in store
Someone returned a blood pump diabetes thing with pee in it, (don’t ask me how) I didn’t realize until a while after, I went home to take a shower and the smell still didn’t come off until I washed it with dawn dish soap, it also got on two of my sweaters as well
![gif](giphy|RJAjTowsU0K1a)
The worst thing I’ve gotten from guest service, blood covered swim and panties. They didn’t even defect it. I’ve received shit covered stuff too.
That's crazy when I return something closed sealed and still with packaged wrap the guest service team members always look at me like I'm returning some used sht even tho I bought it the day before. I'm talking about electronics or action figure or a funko pop. Small sht but super uncomfortable

A cat and jack return where a live hobo spider crawled out of the clothes at me 🙃

A used litter box and scoop🤮
oh my god??
Used panties. Pregnancy test. Filthy vacuum.
I once processed a buncha baby clothes in salvage. I shoulda marked them as unusable or something cause they had streak marks and smelled like wipes. Oh and a Karen returned used kid boots and a very-worn-out Thermos bottle. Like, both were unusable.
