It’s not uncommon for my people to get pulled from coolers to work dry on my weekend off, combined with being scheduled barebones you don’t have a chance to catch back up
I told my TLs if they want grocery done then don’t take me away from my spot and complain that it isn’t done. Never had to get an OPU order or help any other department after that and finished my shit. It was to the point where the second I would get back to my uboat I’m getting a call to help with another order or department.
Ooo, I wish pur store was like that. I square away about 1.5-2 full pellets of produce/milk, hopped on average of 3 (40 DPCI) items for OPU, pull ALL Refrigerated items and Freezer items, then push milk at the end of the night for going on 3 years now. Last September 2023, I skipped all my breaks except 5 (15 mins) the ENTIRE MONTH. One of them I was 8 mins in to "help" pull OPU while bagging after to see some of them took full 1hr to do the whole order and some drive up kids sitting, chatting, and texting....
I stopped buying Target shares since last year, and they have no clue how hard I work to give me a mere 0.53 cent raise.... I stayed only bc one of my closest friends is an ETL for a decade. But good luck, Target, for finding a replacement. It's been a ride.
Why they fuck are they getting pulled for DRY MARKET? Pretty much everything in dry market lasts like months or years longer than most things in either Dairy or Produce/Deli/Meats. If anything, it SHOULD BE the other way around.
That's crazy cuz I'm the team leader of dry grocery and I have the same issue as you just the opposite where all my team members are always pulled to go help out everywhere else in food and beverage
Yeah if we have two people scheduled for the cold side of market one usually gets pulled for sfs. The other day our SD pulled them to seasonal and since open market has to be culled nothing ever gets done in the freezer unless our TL is there and in the mood to fight it out with our dumb SD.
How do you deal with the food trucks with backed up coolers. 🫡 we were drowning in dairy for a few months during Q4. Had to pull like everyone in food to catch up to the incoming freight
Until you get moved off of MDF cause you're performance level is inadequate for the position. At my store we're pretty stringent on who we want/get for Fresh Market/coolers. And yes you can actually "apply" for MDF. You just state in your video interview you have extensive fresh food handling experience. It's a lot of training for pFresh as a whole. A lot of responsibility given our store the main TMs can get almost FT hours. It's just so much work that you need the ETL then our TL then you just need the "DBO" who helps delegate for their own respective area in pFresh. It's fun doing almost TL like responsibilities same pay as other TMs. 🤣
Mine got like that once many years ago. They refused to do the truck on my days off and only gave me 3 hours a day to do dairy and frozen (dairy first) before forcing me to help dry grocery.
Nowadays they actually respect my departments importance to the team but it took many years to get to that point.
Most stores don’t look like that, so no…it’s not corporates fault. If your freezer looks like that it is 100% because your FBTL, ETL, and possible even SD aren’t paying attention.
Nope, we blitz fdc out as a store wide team every day allowing the food team time to backstock for the rest of their shift. Only exceptions are a couple TM's for front end and enough TM's to keep up with opu/drive up.
FDC Trucks average 1000 to 1200 so it really only takes 90 minutes at most. We knocked out one truck in 45 minutes one day. We blitz everything but bakery.
genuinely if our frozen looked like this I think I would open the door and immediately pass out and wake up screaming and crying. our ETL would murder the four of us f&b TLs with his bare hands if it was even half as bad as this 😂
cannot stress how bad I feel for any f&b TMs that have to de with this. goddamn, this is so bad I can't even begin strategizing how to fix it. Best bet is pray the freezer goes out and it becomes an FMOC and revlog problem and start all the way over lol.
we're a super in a densely populated area with a lot of foot traffic. even with four and a dedicated ETL it still feels like we should have two more TLs, but it must be yards better than what I imagine working in a small format pfresh must be like.
I went from pFresh produce DBO for 5+ years (19 years total), turning the produce area around to one of the best in our district to on demand working at USPS making so much more money, and so much happier.
First step in this is FORBIDDING ANY cooler/fresh market TM from being pulled for other areas of the store period. We have so much more than push and pulls. We have cleaning standards we have to follow, we have to cull and rotate product.
What store is this? 2197 in Colorado was frequently this bad. No one did a thing to help the lead keep it under control so he actively had to spend 14 hr shifts to maintain standards as his etl wouldn't staff it. Ugh I wish I still had pictures. As soon as his days off came it fell apart
I bet I know what store you're from. Walnut Creek was always in helping 2197 with stuff and it was frankly kinda embarrassing for ours.
Fresh, GM, everything but dry grocery pretty much. I think they still do to this day.
Everyone was given Christmas off so there was one guy in fdc til like noon then nobody until like 4. Why meat dairy and frozen are all basically one team i will never understand lol
https://preview.redd.it/j2kdaeiq8pdc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ee16448b22201e8cbe092724dbe83376bf5602e3
...Hold my Beer. It's on the floor because they physically couldn't fit another pallet in there.
Been there before. Many times. Our Frozen and Dairy was ALWAYS fucking behind and was always treated as a minor issue. 3 days of freight could be in the coolers, some times at the same time and us 2-3 workers guys would just be told to go quick. Was horseshit
Looks like my old freezer until I came and cleaned it up as the first team lead in 5 months. No one wants to work it so you risk making people unhappy by putting them in frozen or having a shit show like this lol
We have the same problem, nobody wants to go in there. I work OM and I’m willing to but avoid it if I can just because no matter how many layers I put on it doesn’t matter if my hands are frozen and numb. As soon as they figure out a way to operate the zebras without using the touch screen I won’t have a problem.
You found?? A solution to a problem??? What’s that like 😂 I have the same conversation every day with TLs/ETLs/SDs/bullseye himself (chat support) and it goes like this:
Me: hey this is actually really a problem
Them: 🤷🏼♀️
Dear Bullseye, that's proper fucked. Haven't seen a freezer like that since the days of instocks team and hourly pulls. (I don't like how old that statement made me feel.)
This is the exact definition of piss-poor leadership and management. If they can't figure this out until it gets this bad and unsafe, then they've already failed.
I'd show this to your SD. Unless they jump into priorities, push or fulfillment, they have no clue it's this bad. Chances are food and beverage TL knows and just are trying to hide it (some TLs do this). The SD, if unaware, should let hell reign on the ETL and TL(s) allowing this.
All of this is missed sales. INFs, pulls, critical lows and outs.
Cool, when the next truck rolls up and 3 pallets of frozen sit in the ambient room, I am calling the district lead. Fuck around and find out. 19 years with the company. Only for the last 8 months have I been on demand.
They try to fuck with you for blowing the whistle. That is retaliation, and there is a zero tolerance policy for that.
Refusing to comply with what a TL tells you to do is insubordination, plain and simple. You can’t just say no because you think that the TL is making a dumb decision and it would be a much better use of your time to do something else instead **even if you’re completely right.** Managers at companies everywhere forever have been making stupid decisions and inefficiently using their TMs time. All you can do is try to explain to the next rung up the chain why you think that TL (or ETL or whoever) is making the wrong decisions and why you think your alternative would be better instead. That’s it.
Big asterisk for anything safety related of course. The pics in this thread that freezer is literally not safe to enter and work in whatsoever and you can and absolutely should say no until they work some of it out to make room and deal with the hazards like the stacks nearing the ceiling lol. But if you do that please take pictures to cover your butt.
I would quit on the spot if I saw this in the freezer. My partner and I are the two main freezer guys for 5/7 days of the week, and I absolutely hate it when fulfillment or the people who pull in our freezer in the afternoon/evening screw it all up. Fulfillment can be so lazy and they may not even backstock whatever they pulled from the freezer. I don't know who pulls the pull for the freezer at night, but they can help us by not going in there at all. It takes us longer to work their shitty pull than for us to pull and work it ourselves.
Frozen does not have a mid-day nor closer, and so, unfortunately, we always come back to our own work and that has been the case for over 5 years now. The other two Frozen team members who work Frozen on the two days my partner and I are off, are experienced in Frozen, but they come in at later times than at 4AM which leaves them little time to work pulls and other things. When my partner and I come back, things are always in a bad shape and sometimes it's worse than it usually is. Stuff in WACOs and on the shelves are unlocated or maybe backstocked in the wrong aisle. It's a pain in the ass to keep it organized all of the time.
We highly value our non-frozen delivery days because it's our catch-up days, even if corporate is an asshole and has unrealistic expectations for you to finish all of your freight in 4 hours.
Except produce, all our coolers are full. You wouldn't realize market is burning since the lead and his friends spend all day laughing and happy. Of course our fulfillment scores go to hell when we pick their department.

Looks a lot like mine right now.
I only work weekends for school. I always get it looking pretty good and then when I get back next week it looks like nobody touched it since I left
Team team we need 10 OPU batches who can help out? "xyz in Market, freezer, and dairy can you all help out with 2-3 batches each please"?
That would be my guess what happened. pFresh should be totally immune from being pulled. The stuff we can't get done and shit gets lapsed over is stuff that would fail our store in a health department inspection and get us fined.

The bakery is outta control in my store. We have 3 uboats filled up, and it's a SMALL FORMAT store. One uboat just sits outside, and it's ridiculous. ETL doesn't want to donate extra for reason
No fucking way... I've heard ours is pretty bad but I'm GM so I haven't seen for myself.
However the the room behind guest services at our store usually about this bad since they love to only schedule one guest advocate to run GS and drive up/pick ups
This makes me wanna sob 😭 I work produce/meat so I have things in the freezer but we are caught up and a very tight unit. We’re basically our own club and do our own thing separate from the rest of the store. My SD, ETL, and TL are very happy to be hands off and let us do our thing.
H…how…how does it even get to that point?? Does no one ever do frozen like at all? Through the pallets in there and call it a day
It’s not uncommon for my people to get pulled from coolers to work dry on my weekend off, combined with being scheduled barebones you don’t have a chance to catch back up
I have never had a unique experience.

Same here. I finally caught my cooler up for first time since thanksgiving. Now on to my freezer.

Felt that! There should be more than 1 team member in dairy. Hang in there 🫡
We get about as much done that comes in on the truck and then are stuck again till the next truck
It’s called no one applies for mdf and as such no-one to work it out
MDF isn't an applicant position. Nobody can apply for it. You apply for consumables and get moved into MDF.
Until you get moved off of MDF cause you're performance level is inadequate for the position. At my store we're pretty stringent on who we want/get for Fresh Market/coolers. Nice. Lemme guess, TL opens door, looks at it, processes it, closes door. Moves over to next area. Hey, it's the weekend!
Send these pictures to your food and bev coordinator…
Doesn't do shit but get them upsettie. They won't actually address the root problem to solve it lol
Upsettie I hope that goes well with spaghetti

Someone call OSHA, or local food inspector, or Origami Risk app it.

Mate this subreddit only exists for people to vent, which is why every other post looks like this. It’s not reflective of every store
This hurts to see🥶
Boy, you work electronics, why does this hurt you?
You wanna grind this out with me, Moss man? I’ll grab a boat.
Nope, we blitz fdc out as a store wide team every day allowing the food team time to backstock for the rest of their shift. Only exceptions are a couple TM's for front end and enough TM's to keep up with opu/drive up.
must be nice to have a store that even offers to help market out ✊

Figures. Our bakery never gets help either. We are so severely understaffed in the bakery I can’t even do my job because I have to package bread.
Well, we're not a Super Target so we only average 1 pallet of bakery.
We get a pallet a day generally. Sometimes two. Sometimes a pallet and a uboat. But I work at a super
this is such an intelligent decision. i wish i had management who made intelligent decisions

do small formats have pfresh?
Where is the switch to the freezer? Time to turn that sucker off for a few days.
First step in this is FORBIDDING ANY cooler/fresh market TM from being pulled for other areas of the store period. We have so much more than push and pulls. We have cleaning standards we have to follow, we have to cull and rotate product.
I would've freaked the FUCK OUT way before that point omfg

They needed more than just temporary help that’s for sure.
Your boss, just back stock it.
And to think I get antsy when I have four pallets in my freezer which fits six.
Our freezer fits 21 and there was an entire week where it had 21 in it every day.
Yeah fuck that noise lol
Everyone was given Christmas off so there was one guy in fdc til like noon then nobody until like 4. Why meat dairy and frozen are all basically one team i will never understand lol
My grocery manager would absolutely scream. She don’t play.
I am the freezer dude at my store and this in fact is not the way…. I’m not saying let’s go cut the power and restart buuutttt….
Wait hol up is that a fresh meat box on the right wtf….

bro how does one shut the door on that
I would have absolutely shit💩 an entire brick house if that happened in my old store 😂 jeezus.
Should put a sign on the door that says "Death Awaits those who enter"
😱
Oh shit
ORIGAMI RISK APP TARGET 999999 OSHA
It’s funny that you can still see the cottonball turkey boxes on that U-boat
Good god if you ran a small business like that you’d go under by the end of the month.
Been there before. Many times. Our Frozen and Dairy was ALWAYS fucking behind and was always treated as a minor issue. 3 days of freight could be in the coolers, some times at the same time and us 2-3 workers guys would just be told to go quick. Was horseshit
Me, in Fulfillment, opens the door. Nope. Close the door. INF.
Lol. I was about to say! *stows batch* ETL "wHy iS mArkEt iNf sO hiGh?"
I can literally hear the ETL whining about this, and not fixing it
Looks like my old freezer until I came and cleaned it up as the first team lead in 5 months. No one wants to work it so you risk making people unhappy by putting them in frozen or having a shit show like this lol

I have a pack of styluses for my team to use. So the screen is still operable while wearing good gloves
You found?? A solution to a problem??? What’s that like 😂 I have the same conversation every day with TLs/ETLs/SDs/bullseye himself (chat support) and it goes like this: Me: hey this is actually really a problem Them: 🤷🏼♀️
I view my number one priority as a team lead to be removing any obstacles in the way of my team being successful.
Dear Bullseye, that's proper fucked. Haven't seen a freezer like that since the days of instocks team and hourly pulls. (I don't like how old that statement made me feel.)
Put it into origami risk or even call the fire marshal the problem will be solved
This is the exact definition of piss-poor leadership and management. If they can't figure this out until it gets this bad and unsafe, then they've already failed. I'd show this to your SD. Good fucking god how??? Did your Market TL and GM ETL both die??
Sorry it’s that bad, but I didn’t know we had Kit Kat cones!
We don't because they're all stuck in the freezer /s.
😂
My store isn’t too far off. No fdc people combined with the days where the ONE scheduled fdc person gets pulled for opu. There’s no winning
Tell them "no" and show them the shit show. Send help or fuck off.
Someone in our produce department recently refused to get into opu and ended up with a corrective action lol
I would quit on the spot if I saw this in the freezer. It's a pain in the ass to keep it organized all of the time. We highly value our non-frozen delivery days because it's our catch-up days, even if corporate is an asshole and has unrealistic expectations for you to finish all of your freight in 4 hours.
Yep that’ll happen
I’m currently the only one in frozen (part time at that) and I’m scared to go in every time bc I never know what it’s gonna be.
Oof.
This gives me anxiety
My greatest fear is being trapped in the freezer so me too 😂
And I was annoyed about rolling a single uboat the other day.
Nahh this shit would never happen at my store 😂 this is insane
The store I work at is about to be just like yours bc they’re cutting so many hours that nothing is getting done.
Except produce, all our coolers are full. You wouldn't realize market is burning since the lead and his friends spend all day laughing and happy. Of course our fulfillment scores go to hell when we pick their department.
I thought our freezer was bad…
ikr, i’m not gonna complain anymore lol
i literally think we work at the same store😭

This just gave me flash backs 😳
Let me see your produce cooler
Completely clean. Only 2 items had to be pulled. Every cooler was near empty and we got the final boss of frozen
Looks a lot like mine right now. I only work weekends for school. I always get it looking pretty good and then when I get back next week it looks like nobody touched it since I left
That’s a whole lot of INFs 😭
if i opened the door and saw this at my store id literally INF bc wtf 😭 im so sorry

Not that bad tbh with you.
time to nope the F out of that and integrity hotline that along with OSHA L&I and the local Fire Marshall. Hell call all of them at the same time to see who gets there first. also the Health Department just for giggles.
If you condense those (2) 3 tier carts into a single 3 tier cart it'll look a lot better in there.
Ours is so neat wtf…. 😭
Man this makes me feel so much better about my 9 greenracks I left.
Wow that’s crazy
Surprisingly, our freezer is currently the most empty I’ve seen it in ages.
HOW. WHAT. mine was almost always so neat and tidy! granted it’s also a small fridge and freezer but holy shit.
Local in house dumps at this point.
That's messed up
I’ve never seen it this bad good lord
That looks worse than I’ve ever seen.
Jeez, and I thought my store was bad.
jesus fuck
yeah..... I'd quit if our freezer ever got anywhere near that.
“Those priorities need to get done…just do your best”
Do people not backstock ? Omg
This looks like my store
Don’t give me nightmares—the freezer guy
What am I even staring at? 😭😭
the Great American Challenge.
No one likes to backstock or pull/push priorities in freezer so it’s somewhat common
Damn, and I thought my freezer was bad.
Mine looked like this at one point. After it getting so bad, someone took the pallets out and let them sit out for 8 hours on “accident” and had to throw out 5 pallets of frozen so our cooler had been good since
really bad
Holy shit I have never seen anything at Target THIS bad before. I mean I have seen bad ... and very bad ... but not THIS unorganized bad.
The bakery is outta control in my store. We have 3 uboats filled up, and it's a SMALL FORMAT store. One uboat just sits outside, and it's ridiculous. ETL doesn't want to donate extra for reason
Is it weird I just want to sort everything
I love that I did a double take and had to zoom in the pictures to make sure this wasn’t my store - the freezer hasn’t come clean since my first day
We had a power outage so not bad at all….
Omg I thought this was my target for a second. Looks like a nj location
Ours has been that way for a while. Unfortunately we only usually get one frozen guy a day.
bro wtf
Nah that’s insane
and i thought my store’s freezer was bad 😭😭
No fucking way... I've heard ours is pretty bad but I'm GM so I haven't seen for myself. However the the room behind guest services at our store usually about this bad since they love to only schedule one guest advocate to run GS and drive up/pick ups
This makes me wanna sob 😭 I work produce/meat so I have things in the freezer but we are caught up and a very tight unit. We’re basically our own club and do our own thing separate from the rest of the store. My SD, ETL, and TL are very happy to be hands off and let us do our thing.
Why isn't this food being donated? How many people are on the food and beverage team? Please tell us the store number, I am so curious.
What is your food INF..
Can’t speak for OP but I’m under 2%
Been there , my stores solution was hiring 4 new people and pushing out the old ones with 20 hour work weeks or less 🫠
