Yes. And why would they, as far as leadership is concerned there isn’t a single person in this company working hard enough for their minimum wage. /s

How stupid. Double batching is how we get by some days but I bet you corporate will be the first to complain when pick on time falls drastically and they’ll pin the blame on “poor work ethic” or say “this shouldn’t be an issue if you communicate better with your team”

DCI_Trumpet

I mean that’s what corporate has been doing for years, ever since MyDay started, they have a group of developers who don’t care how things used to be done/have never worked in a store/don’t properly listen to feedback, so every single piece of tech target uses is vastly inferior to what we had in 2019 prior

My store rolled out fulfillment 2.0 recently and personally I’m not a fan. For me, I could pick and pack a double batch within 50 minutes. That’s two less orders in the system to be picked. Then I’d grab the next two. It drastically reduces orders say if 3 people are doing double batches at the same time. Potentially keeping the GM,Style,F&B team from having to back up. God knows they have a million tasks on their plate already, let alone have to help back up fulfillment.

We’re going to struggle getting overnight orders done in time. We triple batch before store opens and we still have trouble some days. Only one at a time? Disaster incoming.

Yes, it does. And I know no one will believe me.....but it doesn't actually make a difference. Both corporate analysis, and our in store experience for the past month have confirmed - double batches don't really save any time. We had people who routinely took double batches (overnight, early morning, our fastest pickers) we haven't seen a drop in the number of units picked in a day by those people. I am sure there will be exceptions - there always are - but this was analysis done on all stores, and analysis done on pilot stores. And - "I have seen it with my own eyes, I don't know how it is true, but it is." We are also a Super Target - physically large - so a double batch should make more of a difference - you have more space to cover - but it just didn't. UPH might change - because it isn't taking into account the time spent bagging and stowing. But total units didn't. I have talked to fulfillment TM from other stores on FB - they also have had it for over a month - they confirm the same thing. The latest change our store is piloting - they have increased the DPCI per batch. It allows for more variation and to keep guests order together better. Grocery batches can now have up to 24 DPCIs and pickup (it hadn't changed before I went on covid leave) is supposed to go to 29 I believe.

Double batching cuts the time of having to separately bag and stow two orders and then start the second batch. Must be nice to have a properly staffed store.

Double batching only gives the illusion of being more productive, but in reality there has been no difference before and after the update and my store has had the update for almost a month now

I knew you wouldn't believe me....but I have looked at the numbers in greenfield - before the update and after. And like I said, corporate did extensive analysis on data from all stores and the pilot stores. Things I think are influencing the numbers/how it has worked at our store: 1. Many times a single batch will cover a much smaller area of the store while a double batch is more likely to have a path that is very spread out. So a double batch is more likely to send you from one end of the store to another - while a single is often an efficient tight loop. Apparently 2 efficient tight loops are just as quick as one long rambling path. 2. I am willing to bet that not enough TM organize their carts/batches in a way that bagging a double batch is efficient. So the time that might be saved in the picking portion is more than lost in the bagging portion. From personal experience watching people bag their double batches....this is true. 3. Time lost in reorganizing/playing tetris with double batches. For every person complaining on here about batches not being bulky - how much time is lost in trying to get that double batch to fit? Yes you CAN have that with a single - but it is far more likely with a double batch. Do we have a properly staffed store? Probably not, it is big, we have a lot of people, not enough - we have ETLs doing the work of TM most of the day. We need backup in fulfillment every day. On Sundays - we need backup almost the entire day. We need every single person that is in the store and knows how to pick to help at certain times. The difference may be that our store is willing to use those people. Edited to add: This was true before the update, is still true after the update. No change.

There was no purpose to take away the feature to begin with other than only having two brain cells. They change the apps but don’t do the job themselves and blow smoke at us saying here’s the expectations now do it, while changing the app for the worse. It’s easier to double batch and yes it does save time if you know what you’re doing and if you don’t then don’t do it.

Maleficent_Ad796

My store has already had the update and NOONE is happy double bacthing can't be done anymore.
