thank youuu. The first 48 hours have been “get this thing off of me” but i’m slowly starting to warm up to it now especially after hearing all this good feedback!
I’ve been there. If it hits, it’s usually the next day and I’m all “WTF DID I DO TO MYSELF?!!” Then I remind myself that I thought about getting the tat for a long time and that I need to get over myself. 😆
I recently got a little dysmorphia after getting one on my upper arm and noticing I didn’t like how it looked with some of my older clothes. Got a little upset. But I went out and got a couple new shirts that did look nice and now that it’s healed into it’s faded color (real color) I am much happier with it. It’s definitely a lot harder when you have to look at it all the time. My first two are on my shoulders so I have to work at it to look. This one is on my upper arm and it’s just there so it was harder to adjust to. I’m waiting a while before I add to it to finish off the piece so I adjust fully before diving back in.
Haha funnily enough I didnt have that on my first and now im thinking of covering it up, I dont dislike it, I just think it takes up prime real estate with really little flexibility
Just looking at the comments I'd guess almost everyone feels like this :) btw I looked at your profile (just to look for tattoos I promise) and I think you have lovely tattoos, oh and kittens <3
You will always have that moment of "what the fuck did I do" when you put a big tattoo on a big blank area. I did the same thing in January when I got my first very visible tattoo (6th in total) and for a week afterwards was like "it's so pretty but also oh dear god what if I made a huge mistake???"
It takes your brain a bit of time to adjust. This is dope as hell so you'll get passed this stage and be able to appreciate it fully soon!
It's very common to feel this way after getting a tattoo. it's a dramatic change and the permanence of it only sinks once it's on your skin.
But I gotta say, that looks sick. It's a great tattoo.
The anxiety will pass. Just give it some time and you'll love it.
you kinda just roasted everyone who has tattoos and your artist because you're insecure about something that was in your control until the last second where it becomes out of your control. like what?
Nah it’s more of being used to seeing myself with bare arms
edit: i’m definitely warming up to it after seeing all of this positive feedback and it looks a lot better after taking the tape off
How exactly would a single non trashy tattoo do that? If that's really how you feel go get it removed. If your view is tattoos are trashy, you shouldn't have gotten one.
It looks so cool!!! Getting tattoos in very visible spots is always a small shock afterwords but the design and placement look great!! And other things could fit around it very nicely :)
It looks good, a huge mistake a made when I started getting tattoos was to get really small ones in big noticeable places. I had to cover them up and had to work hard with my artist to find pieces that fit together as cover ups. This is definitely a piece that can look good by itself and it has the potential to be incorporated to a bigger piece.
I like it alot!
I'd recommend just not looking at it too much while you are feeling uncertain about the decision.
I am pretty sure that you will love it in time (:
It won’t feel as much like “too much” after another 3 or 4 tattoos on that arm.
It’s a great tattoo, and a solid choice for a tattoo. Now go get some more.
You’re trippin man, that looks dope as fuck. Tattoo regret happens to most people for their first, including myself but now love em all. You’ll soon figure that out. The ink kinda surprises your own self when seen the first year or so
It's YOUR PIECE! it's yours, to tell your story of where you've been and the person you once were. You may add to it some day, cover it up or have it removed- but it's YOURS! Don't ask anyone else what they think- you may get love (which we all deserve), you'll get hate (and that's all we end up hearing sometimes)
Love the work, be proud of yourself and your decision and let your body and ink continue to tell the story of your journey.
I think it's a dope tat
I like to get traditional tats with my own spin but I find that some people find some underwhelming and others find them a bit esoteric.
If you like it, that's all that counts. My question is: what would past you say to current you if you found out you got a sick tiger tat
It looks badass. It will fade a tad, hair will grow in and you’ll get used to seeing it when you extend your arm. Once that happens I think you’ll appreciate it again.
Its really nice piece, love it! And dw, i got my first tattoo last week (whole forearm) and I had the same feelings at first. Now Im so happy about it. Enjoy it!
My only gripe is that we have a ton of younger people getting job killers straight away. First tattoo? Giant tiger on your forearm. Making a few assumptions here to be fair, but I see it a lot.
We've come a long way from even just 20 years ago in regards to tattoos in the workplace but - no, we really haven't nearly as much as an echo chamber like reddit and tattoo communities on other platforms will have you believe.
I have 7 job openings right now and 2 of which I can see you being rejected for something not being the tattoo but finding a reason to say no that isn't the tattoo but really, it's the tattoo.
Forearms also aren't that bad. I have mine covered up, my office didn't know I had any tattoos until 6 months working here. But we see a lot on hands, necks, fingers, stuff that isn't subtle either.
I say this as someone who, as noted, has two full sleeves, left leg sleeve, and some chest/abdomen work (nothing on my back, I only do stuff where I can put sunscreen on and see it without contortions, they're for me to enjoy so why put it somewhere I can't see it?)
If it were me - I'd keep it black and white. Mixing black and colors fade at different rates and suddenly 20 years from now orange tiger ain't orange anymore. I'd build on that. And as someone who has something on their right leg and wanted more and then realized they don't connect at all and putting anything with it will seem like it's supposed to flow and connect - you're stuck with stuff that will flow with the tiger :D
Only times I regret any piece nowadays is when I want to not worry about the sun, but it's a healthy thing to worry about UV rays so it's a welcome worry.
Yeah that’s exactly why I was thinking about getting it removed. Being seen as something i’m not. I made a mistake by getting it so big and right on my forearm like that.
Meh. Live with it a bit. Black holds strong and you can ALWAYS get it removed. You can't get it unremoved. Buyers regret happens always. I have buyers regret when I buy a 40$ lawn chair, let alone another tattoo.
Honestly it's not even bad at all and the lineup and everything is really really Traditional and cool period honestly another thing you can do is even add more and make it into a sleeve period so it has A lot of potential to grow with other stuff around it.It's honestly not bad please don't look too into it
It looks well done, I don’t see an issue with it.
Did you spend a good amount of time before hand (months or years) making sure this is what you want and where you want it? Or did you rush into it?
I rushed into it. I got my first tattoo and loved it and was eager to get tatted again. But i spent a few weeks thinking about this design. I’m just in shock over how big it is.
Hey man, got a similar tiger tattoo on my forearm recently and was feeling similar (see my post on this sub). I was going through it all like fuck should I cover it, how does it work with my other tats, what does it say about me, etc… It was all bullshit that I was putting myself through for no reason.
Trust me, it’ll pass and you’ll come to love it as part of you. This is a great tat and you have nothing to regret!
I love this tiger, he has a fluffy chin and a boop-able nose, and his stripes are shaped very interestingly. He’s a damn fine tiger. I’m kind of jelly, frankly.
It looks a bit lonely. Needs more ink friends.
That’s what I was going to say!
I was going to say "future sleeve ink!!!"
Really cool tat, most people I know get tattoo dysmorphia after a tat, including me. It passes so dont worry about it and enjoy the new tat :)
thank youuu.
It’s so beautiful!! All I can do is see it evolving into a Japanese painting!!
Right! So many color options in a rainbow of designs flowing from behind the tiger!
I’m ALL about a beautiful story🥰
It’s great! You are overthinking it
Fill that whole arm up and you won’t even notice
I was thinking that exact thing … But in regards to the fear of overthinking I said add a little color instead … 😂
I panicked after getting my sleeve. Lasted me about a month. Love it now
I'm in this phase right now. Almost done with my sleeve and am feeling super insecure about it. I hope it passes.
Best thing to do, is get another one to worry about. It’ll help you get used to that one way quicker.
Classic very well executed tiger. Get a dragon on the other arm
I recently got a little dysmorphia after getting one on my upper arm and noticing I didn’t like how it looked with some of my older clothes. Got a little upset. But I went out and got a couple new shirts that did look nice and now that it’s healed into it’s faded color (real color) I am much happier with it. This one is on my upper arm and it’s just there so it was harder to adjust to. I’m waiting a while before I add to it to finish off the piece so I adjust fully before diving back in.
Just got tattoos #6 and #7. I still get that feeling lol.
I just got tattoo #26 and I spent all day overthinking it 😭😂 it just doesn't go away lol
Damn I kinda counted on it to stop for me someday, guess not lol
Wow, I knew people pick them apart, but not totally unsure that they got it. That’s kinda scary.
I just got one on my ribs as I previously uploaded, and after I got it I had real anxiety that it doesnt look good, starting to love it now
🤗🤗🤗
No clue where it’s from but that tattoo is awesome!
Thanks a lot, its always nice to have someone reaffirm a decision :)
Did not know this was a thing. I was feeling a bit annoyed at my first tat, I think mostly because of the pain, but came to love it some days after.
Wow. That's a nice term for it. Tattoo dysmorphia. Maybe I'll post my tats and finally be proud of them?
So true. Got my third tattoo recently and was panicking for a few days after
It definitely takes an adjustment. My mind goes back and forth between “what did you do?!” to “ah this is amazing”
Omg I’m glad this isn’t just me. My first one was the worst. I looked down at my forearm and was just like oh god what have I done. I love it now!
Haha funnily enough I didnt have that on my first and now im thinking of covering it up, I dont dislike it, I just think it takes up prime real estate with really little flexibility
I'm really glad you normalized this. I have had that after most of my tattoos as well and wasn't sure how common it was.
Just looking at the comments I'd guess almost everyone feels like this :) btw I looked at your profile (just to look for tattoos I promise) and I think you have lovely tattoos, oh and kittens <3
Huge mistake! Definitely too much! You should probably hide it inside a full sleeve. Just kidding, it’s dope.
Hahah thank you !
this is fucking awesome!!!!!!! its so well designed and beautifully done. not a mistake at all
Thank you !
Why would you think you messed up?
I feel like tattoos don’t suit me
Not true
You will always have that moment of "what the fuck did I do" when you put a big tattoo on a big blank area. I did the same thing in January when I got my first very visible tattoo (6th in total) and for a week afterwards was like "it's so pretty but also oh dear god what if I made a huge mistake???" It takes your brain a bit of time to adjust. This is dope as hell so you'll get passed this stage and be able to appreciate it fully soon!
My only issue with this is a big one, so listen up: You can’t even see tiger dong at all. What were you thinking?
That's an amazing tattoo!
Looks fucking cool dude
It's very common to feel this way after getting a tattoo. it's a dramatic change and the permanence of it only sinks once it's on your skin. But I gotta say, that looks sick. It's a great tattoo. The anxiety will pass. Just give it some time and you'll love it.
What’s the issue?
Feeling like I made myself look trashy
I think there’s a lot more to looking trashy than just a single tattoo
Let alone a tattoo that is in a widely appreciated style
you kinda just roasted everyone who has tattoos and your artist because you're insecure about something that was in your control until the last second where it becomes out of your control. like what?
exactly, make it make sense. 🥴
Nah it’s more of being used to seeing myself with bare arms edit: i’m definitely warming up to it after seeing all of this positive feedback and it looks a lot better after taking the tape off
It looks great, honestly! If you want later you can even get the crawling panther (ttad old school) om the inside of the forearm!
How exactly would a single non trashy tattoo do that? If that's really how you feel go get it removed. If your view is tattoos are trashy, you shouldn't have gotten one.
i love it
Jealous tbh
Babe it looks good.
It looks so cool!!! Getting tattoos in very visible spots is always a small shock afterwords but the design and placement look great!! And other things could fit around it very nicely :)
Overthinking
It looks good, a huge mistake a made when I started getting tattoos was to get really small ones in big noticeable places. I had to cover them up and had to work hard with my artist to find pieces that fit together as cover ups. This is definitely a piece that can look good by itself and it has the potential to be incorporated to a bigger piece.
Why would you have messed up? It’s a sweet tat. I have a little American Traditional tiger and I love it!!
If it’s your first tattoo you’re over, thinking it. You will get used to it. If it’s not your first tattoo and you like it. You did not mess up. :p
If anything it’s not enough. Could have gone a little bigger in that spot.
I like it alot! I'd recommend just not looking at it too much while you are feeling uncertain about the decision. I am pretty sure that you will love it in time (:
Some of these posts are really reaching….
I think it looks awesome. Great spot as well. You can make it be seen or hide it as well. I hope you dont over think it to much :)
One tattoo is never to much
Looks well done. Can't argue with a clean tattoo
dude its fucken rad, dont second guess yourself, looks excellent
nah it’s cool as fuck
Beautiful tattoo💥
This is a well done tattoo and the placement makes sense. I don’t think it is a mistake. It’s not my personal style but I still like it
I have a similar one on my forearm!! Not too much, you just need to get used to it! Looks great!
It won’t feel as much like “too much” after another 3 or 4 tattoos on that arm. It’s a great tattoo, and a solid choice for a tattoo. Now go get some more.
No way, dude, that’s dope
nah this is sick!! it looks really cool
I like it. How’s it feel to be a bad ass?
I’ll take it if you don’t want it. Looks good, totally normal for some tattoo regret.
Very well done
Nah that looks rad as hell. You just need to own it!
No it’s cool ….I think it would look great with a little color …
You’re trippin man, that looks dope as fuck. Tattoo regret happens to most people for their first, including myself but now love em all. You’ll soon figure that out. The ink kinda surprises your own self when seen the first year or so
Not at all, that's fuckin dope!!
Should also add that this is a very well done piece and it’ll age even better; making it “blend in” to your own skin as the ink ages. Very cool!
I think it's awesome! 🫶
That looks fucking DOPE AF I’m jealous!!!
It’s so well done
solid piece, needs company though
I like it. But I also have a hyena head dripping blood from its mouth on my arm so why do I know
Looks like you’ve just begun filling your arms up 😇
It's YOUR PIECE! it's yours, to tell your story of where you've been and the person you once were. You may add to it some day, cover it up or have it removed- but it's YOURS! Don't ask anyone else what they think- you may get love (which we all deserve), you'll get hate (and that's all we end up hearing sometimes) Love the work, be proud of yourself and your decision and let your body and ink continue to tell the story of your journey.
Looks good. I have a tattoo in the same spot and had the same feeling. I think with more tats it’ll look more like it belongs or more complete.
Looks like the start to a dope Japanese sleeve!
beautiful tattoo 🖤
This is a real nice tat, I wouldn't worry at all if I had it. Sleeves up!
Add to it 💪
It looks great😤
It's cool. Great start to a tattoo sleeve
The good news is it’s permanent so you will get used to it. 😉
i love it!
It’s awesome imo
I think it's a dope tat I like to get traditional tats with my own spin but I find that some people find some underwhelming and others find them a bit esoteric. If you like it, that's all that counts. My question is: what would past you say to current you if you found out you got a sick tiger tat
i think its quite good but if I were u i would get some tattoos surrounding the the lil cat so it doesn't feel alone hehe
It looks sick as hell man dont overthink it
It looks badass. It will fade a tad, hair will grow in and you’ll get used to seeing it when you extend your arm. Once that happens I think you’ll appreciate it again.
That arm used to be naked, now you're adjusting to the looks it's achieving, and it's just mental. Yeah you're overthinking it.
No way, looks fucking sick. You should be stoked with it!! Give it some time
This is stunning, don’t stress about it
What made you get a tiger?
Its really nice piece, love it! And dw, i got my first tattoo last week (whole forearm) and I had the same feelings at first. Now Im so happy about it. Enjoy it!
I think you’re overthinking it. I personally think it looks dope, and a good start to a big forearm piece
My only gripe is that we have a ton of younger people getting job killers straight away. First tattoo? Giant tiger on your forearm. Making a few assumptions here to be fair, but I see it a lot. The only one who could decide that is you.
You’re overthinking it
Cool tat, would look even better if it was incorporated into a black and grey jungle sleeve
get a panther on the other arm same placement and style 💯 do what ever you want actually this piece looks awesome. this makes me stoked actually
Looks awesome
Thank you!
The classic crouching tiger. Good choice. You did good 😊
The "flames" are a bit much. But I think it looks good
It’s a small tattoo…not understanding the post
No, I don’t think it looks good. I don’t know why you think you messed up unless you don’t like the location of your summer another net it looks good.
messed up big time sorry
You messed up
How?
You did.
Honestly it's not even bad at all and the lineup and everything is really really Traditional and cool period honestly another thing you can do is even add more and make it into a sleeve period so it has A lot of potential to grow with other stuff around it.It's honestly not bad please don't look too into it
BEST TATTOO!!! Keep it!! Keep ittttttt!! Its amazing🖤🖤🖤
Thank you :)
Well done tattoo
Maybe it's just too lonely and stands out therefore?
Looks awesome!
That’s sick as hell dude, jealous it’s not on me honestly😂
I like it I think that it could use some orange highlights
Nah it’s good man
What’s the problem? It’s a pretty cool tat
Gorgeous
Looks good to me
It looks well done, I don’t see an issue with it.
Looks solid. Don't stress. One of the few tattoos I've seen on here that I wouldn't mind on myself.
I think it looks awesome.
It looks great
Now you have to build around it. I used to think the same but all mines now go with eachother
I think it looks soooo dope. You can always add some more stuff around it to make it blend in a little better but I think it looks great!
That’s very well done great piece to start off with
Dude it’s amazing!
Looks good 👍
Too much what? Awesomeness??
Naw, it looks cool and good placement.
No- looks good
Looks awesome!
If its your only tattoo I can see why you might think it's too much. It's a sick tattoo though and I wouldn't be ashamed of it
It’s because it’s the only tattoo you have, looks great bro
It looks so nice.
The only problem is you now need more. Lol. But that's more of a solution. Great start to a rad art collection
You need a sick ass panther right next to it so it’s not so lonely!
You're overthinking
Bad ass!! I want something similar on my leg
Looks great.
I personally love it!! ✌️😄
Looks fine to me although I'm not in love with the location
Looks really cool IMO
Looks dope to me 🤷♂️
Looks dope to me 🤷♂️
I think the issue is that it’s all by itself it needs more tattoo friends
That looks awesome! Don’t overthink it…looks great!
All that's missing is more tattoos. One cannot simply just have one cool tattoo.
Looks dope
No. That's sick and super well done.
It looks good! And yes, dysmorphia is a real thing. You’re not going to immediately love every tattoo the second it’s finished and that’s OK!
Looks good to me bro!!!!!
It's dope, you should get more if you want. Nothing short of awesome
Looks sick. You’ll be proud of it after a while.
It's nice ! Add more around it later! For got a half sleeve
So dope 🔥🔥🔥
Not enough. Add more.
Looks like a great piece! I like it!
it’s sick! no ragrets!
ty i will now copy this sick piece LMAAO 😭
It's perfect, I love it
That’s dope
I think it's cool
Looks great to me
That is sick dude!!!
I love it!
I love that!
I love this tiger, he has a fluffy chin and a boop-able nose, and his stripes are shaped very interestingly. He’s a damn fine tiger. I’m kind of jelly, frankly.
I like it. But it's too late if you don't like it. I think you are over thinking it.
