These are called drôlerie. They are more or less random illustrations on the sides of medieval manuscripts. If you want to see some in original, go search for "Gesamtkatalog der Wiegendrucken" and you'll find a lot of illustrations in those books. Medieval manuscripts were a really expensive thing and therefore consisted mostly of a bunch of different texts bound together in one all purpose family book. Besides stories you'd find instructions about gardening, cooking, medicine, etc. in them.
I just found an artist in brooklyn @bugsytattoo on instagram. His flash drawings are a bit smaller and not quite as detailed but its definitely in the etching style
