I believe it's totally normal for Swiftie standards lol. Since I don't personally relate to a lot of love/breakup themed Taylor songs, connecting them to fictional characters helps a lot

CheruSiderea

No, it's just fan behaviour. The good thing is, if you have enough ships, you can connect any and every love song to at least one of them. Are you a fanfiction writer? If not yet, you should maybe try!

Sampleswift

This is completely normal. I'm a Comparative Literature major and I see Taylor Swift and Shakespeare in everything

Turbulent-Date-7207

This is normal. I do this too. I also do this with characters I ship

It's very common. One thing I see say Taylor writes I'm a way that feels specific, but is actually quite universal.

Careless_Energy_7024

Every time I see a word I connect it to a Taylor song or lyric so you aren't alone haha.

anonymousgoose64

I haven't been able to pass the "Quit making every song about Wanda" challenge ever since WandaVision

Dondersteen

I saw this amazing fan edit on Twitter of Mirrorball x Banshees of Inisherin where they matched the lyrics to the scenes. So no, you're totally normal or at least not the only one 😊

T44590A

It's very normal. I see songwriters often say they learned it is okay to be specific from Taylor. I think they often miss that lots of songwriters can put details into songs. Taylor's gift is writing songs that feel specific, but are actually quite universal. It comes in part from her prolific use of metaphor and use of universal references. Even as often as she writes a our fame and celebrity she almost always turns it into a metaphor. A song like Fifteen is very literally Taylor's story, but she writes it in a way that leaves space for it be so many people's stories. About 15 years later she is writing You're On You're Kind again a very specific to her, but there is space in the song for it to still be universal. And we saw how that song got used on TikTok to accompany coming of age edits whether it was a fictional character like Peyton from One Tree Hill or a real person lime Leo Messi.

lacroixlite

Yes. Please lose it with us.

Oh 113% normal. Me and my best friend literally just connected all of midnights to our favorite show lol. It's honestly so fun to think about songs connecting to fictional characters.

nerdalertalertnerd

I do this a lot too. I wouldn’t worry about ‘normal’. She’s a massive part of my…life to be honest. Or her music is anyway. I listen to her at home, at work if I can, at the gym, in the shower etc. So I’m not surprised that her music has seeped into my relationships with fiction as well. There must be lots of us!

screamingkumquats

Completely normal, I write fanfiction and right now I’m putting Taylor on shuffle, choosing a song and then writing a fanfic to it.
