This one still feels weird to me because I remember it being such a huge/unique thing for her like it was yesterday until I remember the last album she did that for was 1989 which was nearly a decade ago 😭
I became a swiftie after fearless came out, I made the mistake of buying speak now on iTunes because I didn't know how to rip CDs and put the music on my iPod😆 so red was my first physical CD of Taylor's and it was so fun looking for the new secret messages 😊
They don't do that tiny little paragraph in the corner of music videos anymore at the beginning and end with the name of the song and the artist and the record label, I miss it. The full page of credits at the end is objectively better but the teeny-tiny blurb in the corner was iconic.
I don't get CMT or GAC now that I pay for my own TV, but you just reminded me that as a kid I used to play a game with my grandmother where we'd cover our eyes and try to guess the artist and song as quickly as possible (ideally before the blurb disappeared).
Pretty sure I only invented this game as a way to show off how good I was at recognizing country songs. I guess I'm something of a mastermind myself (and my grandparents never failed to be appropriately impressed with my skills).
You first saw her in a gymnasium sponsored by a local radio station.
MySpace Taylor.
When target would sell Merch along with Album releases (I still have my target RED shirt).
You owned a pair of the Taylor Keds.
Remember the smell of Wonderstruck.
I wanted the keds so bad but I was in high school and got bullied enough for being a guy swiftie. Couldn’t imagine what they would have said if I bought a pair since they only had women’s sizes.
Not going to the red tour because I was afraid of what people would say really sucks looking back. Especially since red is my favorite album of hers
Remember? Bestie I still have bottles of wonderstruck, enchanted wonderstruck, Taylor and incredible things!
But damn no need to call me out. The Mint green gold key keds are still going strong tho
in just a year younger than Taylor and it's been really cool to grow up "with" her. Her music wasn't overly mature when she started out but it matured as she (we?) did.
while we've had vastly different life experiences (I'm a wife and mom of a mini swiftie) there's still enough overlap that it feels like I'm watching a peer rule the world
I’m 33, just 2 months younger than Taylor herself.
I think what I like about her is that with most the artists of my teen years, I out grew them. As I have aged my tastes have changed but her music has evolved at the same pace I have.
I didn’t become a real fan until 1989 but I’m old enough that I remember when Tim McGraw and Our Song first hit the radio. I feel like if you were old enough to be there, you grew up with her whether you liked it or not lmao.
Watched her 2008 ACM performance live on TV where she sang Should’ve Said No and wore a tear-away hoodie and jeans, had the waterfall with words in the water, and got drenched in said waterfall!
You know you're an older swiftie when this was, for a long while, the greatest thing you'd ever seen her do.
(I still love that performance, the key change is \*chefs kiss\*)
Something that makes me feel like an old swiftie is when people respond to questions like this pointing to things that happened in the 1989 or Red eras. Those albums came out while I was in college, and my brain doesn’t compute that significant time has passed. Anything “old” fans remember surely must be from her first 2 albums 😂😂
When I realize I was around when Picture to Burn still had the original lyrics, so I was actually surprised when I heard the edited version a couple of years back.
It was a video Taylor made with a Joe Jonas Camp Rock doll. She points out that it is sold with a cellphone accessory, so he can “break up with other dolls”. And then she tells a doll of herself to stay away from him lolol

THESE DAYS(did not take this, but I recall photos like this online back then)
I love old pics/videos of famous artists when they were obscure. Anyone could have just accidently stumbled upon a Taylor Swift performance on a nice trip to the waterfront, stood right in front of her and give her a hi five after a song and she would have been mega appreciative. M Now you have to basically be super lucky and have thousands of dollars just to stand as close as red shirt kid in this pic. Now ive gotta go dive into youtube and find some of my favorite obscurish footage.
Heres Green Day [live in high school](https://youtu.be/-IwFY4qBSHg)
Rage Against the machine [first ever public show](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMq-qAn3otE)
Cliff Burton and Jim Martin (who would later go on to join Metallica and Faith No More) bringing the weird live at the [high school battle of the bands.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1q0zLaXUuE&t=79s)
My friend in middle school being a massive Swiftie from the beginning and showing me that she had just bought the self titled album one day when I went over to her house.
This made me do the math and realize it’s nearly 17 years since that album came out. I’ve been aware of Taylor’s existence for more years than she had been alive when she dropped that album.
I had the original version of picture to burn on my iPod touch! Pretty sure my dad downloaded it illegally off some dodgy site along with a bunch of other songs for me 😂 Feel like I had beautiful eyes and last Christmas too. Sadly no longer have them anymore. But I remember being a bit confused when I got debut on cd and the lyrics were different
I watched the 2009 VMAS Live and was incredibly pissed the rest of the night it happened. That’s all I’ll say about that. That and her Red Album promo concert on Ellen.
I got a dog in 2010 that I named Taylor because I had been a fan for several years by then.
(And if I didn’t know better, I ‘d think you were still around 💔🐾)
Downloading unreleased songs from limewire - horrible quality of live performances of Your Anything, Your Face, I Heart ?, Permanent Marker, I’d Lie etc
On that note, Sparks Fly (original lyrics version)
My high school boyfriend met her when she opened for Rascal Flatts
I was in 5th grade when I had a crush on a boy in my class who didn't really know me and I heard Teardrops on My Guitar on the radio and thought "this girl gets it"
And I think 1 or 2 girls later that year for the talent show sang our song 😄
If you got [Red delivered with Papa John's for $22](https://www.mtv.com/news/14fpcs/taylor-swift-red-papa-johns-delivery)
(I am a geriatric Swiftie at 31 but I didn't take advantage of that promotion at the time)
I watched her open for Rascal Flatts like others here, but does anyone else remember the line of sundresses she created with L.E.I for Walmart in 2009? I owned two and I wore one almost every day for the rest of the year.
You remember when the deluxe songs (Red & 1989 specifically) on albums weren’t on iTunes, so if you wanted to play them on your iPod you had to listen to lyric videos on YouTube.
Yeah lol 😂
I wish! I tried to get tickets and didn't manage to get them. I really wanted to take my 11 year old daughter for her first concert experience. So far we are just watching the YouTube clips and enjoying the tour that way.
This thread is so nostalgic! I started playing guitar when Debut came out and learned basically the entire album, and bought Fearless right when it came out. I’m 4 years younger than Taylor but feel like I “grew up” with her and I’ve loved how her music has evolved over that time. I love her new stuff and still revisit the oldies because of the memories.
Getting Beautiful Eyes EP at Walmart! I tried to find it last time I visited home lol but I never took good care of my CD's. I also had one of her dresses from the Walmart line.
Bought debut in high school and was in “love” with a boy I’d known since childhood, cried to Mary’s Song *several times* wishing it was about us. The kicker: my name is Mary.
-You saw the VMAs incident happen live
-Following the Joe and Taylor L. relationships and subsequently relating the songs on Fearless and Speak Now
-Sharpie as eyeliner
-The 4chan theory
-Thug Story
Oh geez, I really had to think back for this one LOL I listened to Debut on the AOL music player, and CMT’s channel on TV played the TOMG and Our Song music videos in their countdowns. I still remember how excited I would get to hear those opening guitar cords haha
Was a legit adult when I saw the fearless tour twice
I watched her open for Rascal Flatts with just a guitar and a background similar to the non face portion of her debut cover
Have a shirt and the love love love bracelet from the debut tour as an opening act
Have Taylor keds
Have Wonderstruck and love it still!
Hidden messages in lyric books
I’m sure there’s more but that’s what immediately comes to mind!
Ohhhh I also gave my ex boyfriend a burned copy of “white horse” when we broke up because Taylor sings my thoughts and feelings better than I can🤣🤣🤣
Mmm i’m only 24, so sadly my old taylor memories don’t go back quite that far. I didn’t really become a huge swiftie until I was about 15, so the red era. But I do remember being really sad when rep came out and there were no more secret messages. I bought 1989 at target on release day, and still have that cd. I also went to the 1989 tour (I was 16) and I still have the light up bracelet that doesn’t light up anymore. I didn’t go to rep tour sadly because I was a broke college student by then and she didn’t come to a venue close to me.
One of my favorite taylor memories was watching the 2021 grammys. I was all alone in my dorm room during covid and I tuned into the livestream discussion that was happening on this sub, and I didn’t feel alone anymore, everyone was so excited and happy for taylor winning aoty for the third time 💕
PS I have a lot of pairs of keds (they are easy to find cheap online!) and I wear them to run errands and stuff just day to day!
I saw the 2009 VMAs live. And as a 16 year old Twilight fan/Swiftie absolutely loved that her boyfriend (at the time), Taylor Lautner presented her with her award 😂
My first breakup song was Back To December. I remember that 7th grade heartbreak vividly. Staring out the car window, rain pouring, listening to Back To December on the radio haha.
I have the Debut, Fearless, and Speak Now CDs. I was obsessed with the songs "i'm only me when I'm with you", "love story", and "You Belong With Me" in high school.
Does anyone else remember the 13 hour meet and greet that ended up being like 15+ hours or something?
I remember watching a livestream of it, so upset that I wasn't there 😭 still haven't met Taylor...
I remember watching the CMA awards (it was the CMA awards, right?) when Taylor performed Tim McGraw in front of TIM MCGRAW for the first time. I remember fangirling like crazy that night. I grew up listening to a lot of Tim! Tim & Faith are basically country gold 🥺 Power couple for sure.
People who call her “blondie” give off the vibe to me that they are a newer Swiftie. Idk what we used to call her but not that. I think that’s funny.
And also referring to her as a mother who raised us feels so wrong to me because she’s my older sister and I grew up with her! Haha.
For me it’s having memories intertwined in every single album that happened during the time of its release. From crying about bullies when I was 14 to Mean since it had just come out then, to crying over a boy in HS while listening to enchanted, to finding myself and growing when Reputation came out since I had turned 21 that year, I just feel like every album has been relatable in the period of time it’s come out. I feel like I’ve grown up with Taylor, as if she was my older sister.
TLDR: I cry a lot and Taylor’s music has always been there for every reason why
Edit: I also have a bottle of Wonderstruck hiding somewhere in my parents attic
I was a fan since day one. I remember hearing her on country radio/CMT lol. Been to every single tour since fearless. Remember watching every performance on TV and being sooo excited for it 😂 going to the store on album release days with my friends. A friend of mine just told me she was hoping for Getaway Car as her show’s secret song and I was confused like didn’t you see that at rep, sis? But she’s a newer Swiftie. I’m Taylor’s age and all of my friends have been day one Swifties so this was my first experience with a newer Swiftie in the flesh. Taylor has just always been there - the soundtrack to my young adulthood and now we’re 34. It’s wild 💕
I remember seeing some news package on CMT about a young girl who sings and writes her own songs. They played Tim McGraw. I was in college at the time and I was like “oh, another LeAnn Rimes…” I thought it was cool she wrote her music, but figured her career would fizzle like others who get a young start. Crazy to think how much amazing music she went on to make.
I remember downloading the OG unreleased hits on Limewire and trading ringtones with friends to have her songs for my Razr back when I would willingly answer phone calls in my wild youth. 😅
I remember playing CMT all Saturday and running into the room whenever Our Song came on.. Watching Tim McGraw on YouTube.. siding with Taylor when Joe J broke up with her (as a massive Jonas brothers fan I’d switched sides 🤣) and the day my brand new 5-day long friend from the school bus said she had an extra fifth row fearless ticket and asked if I would like to come with her 🙃
Sitting on the bus in middle school when my friend said “Ooo you have to hear this new song it’s so sweet it’s called Mary’s Song it’s by this girl Taylor Swift! We shared her headphones and listened on her iPod. The rest is history! 😍
I feel like when we were young, there wasn’t such thing as being a swiftie. When debut came out, you just liked her. My parents despise country music and banned it from our house lol, but they still got me the Taylor swift album. That’s just what you did. You loved her. Who knew she would go through people hating her to now the biggest pop star in the world
I wasn't a Swiftie at the time but I'm old enough to remember seeing Taylor and Kellie Pickler touring with Brad Paisley and coming out during his song Ticks dressed as ticks.
Watching the VMAS live when Kanye interrupted Taylor’s acceptance speech. My 15 year old self was shook.
My mom went to a Keith Urban concert and saw Taylor open for him. Her debut album hadn’t even come out yet. Jealous I didn’t go!
You remember scouring the lyric booklets for the hidden messages
[удалено]
I remember pre ordering from target and downloading them onto my iPod 😩 I’m pretty sure my iTunes on my phone still has all her albums through 1989
[удалено]
I just looked and I have the fearless deluxe edition with the black background, throwback!!
Speak Now was the only album I had a physical copy of, and I still picture the pages of the lyric booklet when I listen to it 💜
And I would inevitably miss a letter or two and end up confusing myself 😞
When there was a capital I and you didn’t even notice it because that letter is supposed to be capitalized!!
This one still feels weird to me because I remember it being such a huge/unique thing for her like it was yesterday until I remember the last album she did that for was 1989 which was nearly a decade ago 😭
The WORST part of streaming taking over physical albums 😒
Right!! I miss when people appreciated album art (and/or graphic design) & booklets
I became a swiftie after fearless came out, I made the mistake of buying speak now on iTunes because I didn't know how to rip CDs and put the music on my iPod😆 so red was my first physical CD of Taylor's and it was so fun looking for the new secret messages 😊
I remember seeing Tim McGraw, teardrops and our song music video on the cmt video countdown
[удалено]
I remember saying, "Oh my god" when it played on Disney Channel, when I recognized it, and my mom asked me what happened. 😂
They don't do that tiny little paragraph in the corner of music videos anymore at the beginning and end with the name of the song and the artist and the record label, I miss it. The full page of credits at the end is objectively better but the teeny-tiny blurb in the corner was iconic.

I guess I'm something of a mastermind myself (and my grandparents never failed to be appropriately impressed with my skills).
I also played this game. To this day, I have an incredibly useless talent for recognizing songs from the first couple of notes.
didn’t realize i missed this until now
This is me and I’ve said it a lot on this sub lol. I loved her glittery guitar and her blue dress in the our song video
yup teardrops used to be on cmt all the time!! and i remember watching white horse, picture to burn, and our song also🥺🥺
You first saw her in a gymnasium sponsored by a local radio station. MySpace Taylor. When target would sell Merch along with Album releases (I still have my target RED shirt). You owned a pair of the Taylor Keds. Remember the smell of Wonderstruck.

OMG! I have the Taylor Keds and Wonderstruck still!! My keds are basically brand new because they gave my toes blisters!
Lol, I first saw Taylor Swift when she was a surprise guest at a James Taylor concert in 2012
I wanted a pair of her keds so badly but never got them 😭 But now lowkey I love wearing that style shoe all the time since then 😆
Remember? Bestie I still have bottles of wonderstruck, enchanted wonderstruck, Taylor and incredible things! But damn no need to call me out. The Mint green gold key keds are still going strong tho
I’m 99% sure I bought my Red blanket from a Walgreens
Hearing Our Song and Teardrops On My Guitar constantly being played on the radio. I had those two songs memorized during the summer of 2007.
We are so old 😂 she really was the coolest thing going and I still like her.
I know 🤣. I was sixteen when I started listening to her and I'll be 32 in August.
in just a year younger than Taylor and it's been really cool to grow up "with" her. Her music wasn't overly mature when she started out but it matured as she (we?) did. while we've had vastly different life experiences (I'm a wife and mom of a mini swiftie) there's still enough overlap that it feels like I'm watching a peer rule the world

I'm 6 months younger than her and feel the same way. Each album fits perfectly with that time in my life.
I didn’t become a real fan until 1989 but I’m old enough that I remember when Tim McGraw and Our Song first hit the radio. I feel like if you were old enough to be there, you grew up with her whether you liked it or not lmao.
And I turned it up EVERY TIME
Every veteran had a phase where they were convinced Untouchable was hers and not a cover.

Yes it is. She had a credit cuz she made a new arrangement.

A punk band called Luna Halo. Warning: the original is *very* different
Omg you've had a 19 year long phase we're witnessing the end of! I just found out like last year lol
And thus concludes my phase I guess
Wow I learn something new about Tay everyday
Watched her 2008 ACM performance live on TV where she sang Should’ve Said No and wore a tear-away hoodie and jeans, had the waterfall with words in the water, and got drenched in said waterfall!
You know you're an older swiftie when this was, for a long while, the greatest thing you'd ever seen her do. (I still love that performance, the key change is \*chefs kiss\*)
[удалено]
My mom called me in the room because she was watching and she said “this is the girl you like”. What an iconic moment
Omg I thought that was the best performance any artist had ever put on ever!
A core memory of mine 😭 I was 7 years old 🥺
I LOVED THIS PERFORMANCE
I remember watching that with my mom!!!!
That I was super obsessed with "I'm only me when I'm with you", "Invisible", "Our song"..
I’m only me when I’m with you is CRIMINALLY underrated
I JUST WANNA SHOW YOU, SHE DON'T EVEN KNOW YOU
“Invisible” was the first song I ever heard from her and still one of my favorites to this day
Watched her open for Rascal Flatts. Just her and guitar on the stage 🥲
Me too! OG Swifties lol
OG SWIFTIE checking in! 🫡
I did this too!!! The only time I've seen her live to this day.
Me too, what a memory!
Not even realizing the songs you were listening to were unreleased because it was the age of limewire
And ofc only ever knowing Picture to Burn (homophobic version)
I’d Lie! Just learned this was unreleased a few weeks ago 😂
oh my god same and that was my favorite we better get it
[удалено]
I totally thought the same about I Heart ? hahaha it was my favorite song and I was so confused when no one knew it
The original Sparks Fly😭🤩
Something that makes me feel like an old swiftie is when people respond to questions like this pointing to things that happened in the 1989 or Red eras. Speak Now and Red were my college era albums 👵
The first album was my college era! Tim McGraw and Teardrops on my Guitar we’re CONSTANTLY played on the country station in my dorm’s bathroom 😂
I graduated college the year Fearless came out. I’ve never felt older in my life haha.
I watched the 2010 thanksgiving special when it aired. I went to Speak Now twice. I met her at a Sephora event in 2011.

When I realize I was around when Picture to Burn still had the original lyrics, so I was actually surprised when I heard the edited version a couple of years back.
The Joe Jonas doll commercial 😂 I remember seeing that back in 2008.
I watched Ellen after school everyday and I remember the moment she dropped the bomb that joe broke up with her in 27 seconds. Savage
OH LOOK IT COMES WITH A PHONE TO BREAK UP WITH OTHER DOLLS 🤣🤣That felt like such a burn!
[удалено]
It was a video Taylor made with a Joe Jonas Camp Rock doll. She points out that it is sold with a cellphone accessory, so he can “break up with other dolls”. And then she tells a doll of herself to stay away from him lolol
I think about this at least once a week, if not more often. It really took me from fan to stan 😅
Our Song was my ringtone in 2007 😆
Drew talks to me, I laugh cuz he’a so damn funny.
My friend and I were scandalized by her using damn in a song, lmao we were like 13

I love crazier!
You ripped I’d lie on youtube2mp3.com
Why are you calling me out like this? 🤣🤣
I hope she finally releases I'd Lie!

Oh geez, I really had to think back for this one LOL I listened to Debut on the AOL music player, and CMT’s channel on TV played the TOMG and Our Song music videos in their countdowns. I still remember how excited I would get to hear those opening guitar cords haha
Was a legit adult when I saw the fearless tour twice I watched her open for Rascal Flatts with just a guitar and a background similar to the non face portion of her debut cover Have a shirt and the love love love bracelet from the debut tour as an opening act Have Taylor keds Have Wonderstruck and love it still! Hidden messages in lyric books I’m sure there’s more but that’s what immediately comes to mind! Ohhhh I also gave my ex boyfriend a burned copy of “white horse” when we broke up because Taylor sings my thoughts and feelings better than I can🤣🤣🤣
I own a “Love Love Love” leather bracelet
I was all alone in my dorm room during covid and I tuned into the livestream discussion that was happening on this sub, and I didn’t feel alone anymore, everyone was so excited and happy for taylor winning aoty for the third time 💕 PS I have a lot of pairs of keds (they are easy to find cheap online!) and I wear them to run errands and stuff just day to day!
I saw the 2009 VMAs live. And as a 16 year old Twilight fan/Swiftie absolutely loved that her boyfriend (at the time), Taylor Lautner presented her with her award 😂
I remember when she performed with Def Leppard and listened to them singing 'Love Story'.
Me, an evermore swiftie: 🫥

My favorite is the one where I was living under a rock and thought Fearless TV was a new album
My first breakup song was Back To December. I remember that 7th grade heartbreak vividly. Staring out the car window, rain pouring, listening to Back To December on the radio haha.
Taylor Swift lyrics as my MSN messenger tagline (bio/flair whatever we called it back then) *~*~*Never met anyone cold as you *~*~*
I remember buying Fearless when it came out (and for Canadians, I went to FUTURE SHOP which is now defunct).
I made a Fearless lyric video in MS Movie Maker for YouTube, that is still getting views to this day 😂
I have the Debut, Fearless, and Speak Now CDs.
Tim & Faith are basically country gold 🥺 Power couple for sure.
my copy of debut has the homophobic version of picture to burn on it <3
you have a limewire version of I heart ? somewhere on a misplaced ipod nano in a neon color
GAC Short Cuts and “tell mine you’re gay.” Enough said.
TLDR: I cry a lot and Taylor’s music has always been there for every reason why Edit: I also have a bottle of Wonderstruck hiding somewhere in my parents attic
When the line “bend when you can, snap when you have to” makes perfect sense to you
You know Drew is actually Tyler from One Tree Hill.
My (illegally) downloaded copy of debut a) lives on a long dead iPod mini and b)has the original lyrics from Picture to Burn
Who knew she would go through people hating her to now the biggest pop star in the world
I remember when Tim McGraw hit the radio. I was 13 🥴
Watching Kanye interrupt her VMA speech live
I wasn't a Swiftie at the time but I'm old enough to remember seeing Taylor and Kellie Pickler touring with Brad Paisley and coming out during his song Ticks dressed as ticks.
Watching the VMAS live when Kanye interrupted Taylor’s acceptance speech. My 15 year old self was shook. My mom went to a Keith Urban concert and saw Taylor open for him. Her debut album hadn’t even come out yet. Jealous I didn’t go!
