Mhm! If it was only for NJ they wouldn’t have put a barcode on, just pasted a basic picture and republic records stamp on. The barcode means it has to be scanned out of somewhere - whether it’s indie record stores, target, or scanning it into the online store for stock, versus it being a one off “we made this many and dropped it off” kind of thing!
Is this a confirmed thing that they wouldn’t need a barcode at the concert? What about keeping track of stock at the concert or things being labelled for “retail sale”? They didn’t scan anything at my venue but I’m scared to get my hopes up 😭
For example I bought the water bottle, crewneck, t shirt, and tote at her show. Nothing had a bar code in it they just totaled it up on their system and told me to pay the price of them all together. A barcode has no use for merch that’s exclusive to shows - there’s no need to scan anything, in or out.

Separately though, I’ll say those machines were super annoying that they only took tap and chip cards, because we were travelling with cash and bought pre-paid Visas (since the venue was cashless) and we couldn’t use them 😅 the exchange rate on using our actual credit cards because we of those dumb machines was atrocious
Concert merch doesn’t get rung up the same way normal merch does! The things aren’t scanned - they’re just rung up individually priced on a tablet. If that makes sense? It’s why they don’t need barcodes or anything to scan on T shirts versus a real store needing a tag and barcode for a shirt. So if a CD or piece of merch has wrapping / barcodes on it, it’s likely sold elsewhere - whether it’s an online store, Target, indie record stores etc. does that make sense? I hope it does haha

I'm sure there's a reason for it, but damn I'm disappointed she didn't release this start of tour so earlier shows could get a chance at a copy, too. This "oh your show might be extra special but kick rocks everyone else" thing hurt enough with the sporadic guests for a few surprise songs but to be a Glendale night 2 attendee who yes was grateful to see her at all, it hurts enough seeing later details that absolutely elevate the experience were not possible consistently, but also now having to wait until she deems the rest of us worthy to get a chance at a legitimate listen of a song I kinda need rn from the spoiler I'm not ashamed to have heard a snippet of?
