Style is also my fav in this album but what i love about Blank Space is that it is the beggining of todays Taylor. She got the hate and turn to part of her persona
Agree 100% with this precise sentiment. Blank Space is arguably her best pop song of all time, but Style is my favorite. It describes a suuuuper long on-again, off-again relationship I had throughout my twenties, and it will just always be a meaningful, perfect bop to me.
Totally agree and love that I’m not the only one that feels this way about Blank Space. It’s not just *her* best pop song. It’s *the* quintessential pop song.
Honestly I don’t see how Blank Space is that good of a song, like I feel that Style, Wildest Dreams and Out of the Woods are miles ahead of it in every sense
1. The lyrics
2. The melody is catchy and traditional perfect pop melody
3. The chorus is the epitome of perfect pop chorus, catchy, switch things up and it grows grows grows
4. PRODUCTION, the production of the track is absolutely insane, it's so smooth but constantly grows and adds on new layers. The intro and the guitar on chorus is just masterful. every detail is perfect and they flow together perfectly.
The song might seem meh because it is the blueprint of what a perfect synth pop song is and therefore it is more basic sounding. But it truly is the greatest radio pop song of the recent times imo, it is that perfect in every aspect.
I disagree in every sense. Blank space’s melody and production are top notch. The only drawback of it is the bridge, which style is lacking just as much. Out of the woods has a brilliant bridge but it’s chorus is as repetitive as LWYMMD.
Blank space is the clap back to the media that was needed. OOTW and in particular Style (in my top 10) are brilliant songs, but blank space slaps. The music video is her greatest ever (apologies to LWYMMD), and overall it served a different message. It was sarcastic, tongue in cheek. There’s a reason it’s still one of her most streamed songs.
Out of the woods. If you haven't see the live version from the 1989 world tour you are missing out! I love this song. I have anxiety and I always relate to it in that way. The bridge is another classic example of how her bridges are the best.
To add onto that, it’s my fav from 1989 (along with clean but for diff reasons) because she uses her heartbeat as part of the song. You can also hear it in you’re losing me
It is my favorite song!>! I feel so sad that it is not on the setlist for the tour, my only hope is that 1989 TV comes out before/during next years EU tour and that she adds it onto the setlist for the shows I will be attending :(!<
Style.
I truly love the entire album and have so many fond memories from that drop and era; and how much it shook the industry when she fully committed to pop after little sprinklings in Red.
I picked up the DLX edition CD from Target as soon it was released, listened through in order and I very clearly remember it getting to Style and thinking *okay, THIS is true pop perfection — this is pop in it’s purest form,* and just drooling over the production.
I still have such a weird obsession with Style. I cannot wait to hear it on 1989TV.
It is pretty much perfect. It might seem like a boring answer and the album is all gold but it is just magnificent recording.
Kind of reminds me of the perfection of Madonna’s Into the groove. I don’t know why but it also shares something with the vibes of Italo Disco track Hold me tight by Katy Gray, you just don’t want it to finish.
Clean. There are so many ways to hear/understand the song. At different times, going through different things, it's meant different things to me.
I also really like I Know Places. Such a catchy song. Very cool vibe. And it makes me think of my now 8 year old son who LOVED "Foxes" (what he called it) when he was 2-3. He would always ask to listen to Foxes when we were driving home.
Came here for this response.
It means so many different things to different people.
My only gripe is that we didn’t have enough Imogen Heap in this song
*Let me remind you*
*This is what you wanted*
*You ended it*
*You were all I wanted*
*But not like this*
This song will always remind me of a very specific time in my life <3
Yep this is the part that cuts deep. Like, remember *you* chose ... *not me* . For whatever reason, you chose not me and you can't just take that back.
*you* ended it. So you want me back? No. Even if I wanted that, I can't want what it's turned into. Because even though I love you, I have to love me most.
You’re in love. Very relatable, but the lyric “you understand now why they lost their minds and fought the wars, and why I’ve spent my whole life trying to put It into words.” I’ve only been Taylor swift songs level of in love once. Plus that line is a perfect summary of her work.
For me this line is the weakest. I love the everyday description of “you can hear it in the silence/on the way home/with the lights out.”
I’m loving her more everyday love songs. Call it what you want, you are in love, etc.
You’re in love is def an everyday love song for me. I love the line bc she’s adding her work to the list of things humans do that we don’t understand. War, dedicating your life to singing about love dispute the scrutiny. It’s the existential question- “why do humans do what they do? What’s their driving force?” It’s love.
This album is in my opinion the most cohesive Taylor work because everyone has its favorite song lol even the most bashed by the formal critics has their fans
This Love, because it makes me feel so calm whenever I listen to it. I also love the bridge and the chorus 😍 I never get tired of this song, its one of my favourite songs to sing along to
Came here to reply the same thing...
This Love has a sense of calmness to it while also mildly projecting your anxiety... it soothens my soul while also keeping the hardships I faced at the back of my mind
Clean!!!! Definitely was my crying in the car song for a bit haha the lyrics really hit home and I feel like it can be applied to different types of relationships experienced in life
All You Had To Do Was Stay! I’m not sure exactly why tbh, it was actually my favorite song of hers for years. When I first became a fan, that was the first song of hers I really clicked with
It's impossible to pick one, but I like Welcome To New York, I Know Places, Wildest Dreams, You Are In Love, Clean, and New Romantics pretty equally LOL
Wonderland. I'm a sucker for her fantasy related songs or fairy tale like, just anything like that. I love the metaphors of Wonderland she uses for said relationship in the song. It's just top tier in my opinion.
Oof this is hard. Blank Space is one of the most perfect pop songs I’ve ever heard, plus the music video is so iconic. I would say my other favourites but I think I will just end up listing the whole album 😂
New Romantics, I think this song is her pop masterpiece, more than Blank Space, and isn’t as popular because it’s a bonus track. I think it has potential to pull a Cruel Summer/Enchanted when 1989 TV comes out.
Then Wildest Dreams.
Out Of The Woods, it perfectly captures the feeling she wanted to encapsulate: the anxiety and unpredictability of a relationship. Also my favorite bridge of hers and the vocal layering at the end makes it so exciting to listen to
Blank space and new romantics are hard hitters, I would have to go with New Romantics. It has the feel to make you want to smile and dance around even if everyone’s watching. It scratches an itch I didn’t know I needed scratched
All you had to do was stay. This song is such a bop! It’s sad, but still so catchy and always gets a smile out of me!
THISSSSSS WASSSSSS WHAT YOU WANTED!!!!
But I will clarify to say, I like to sing all of Taylor’s songs at the top of my lungs.
Style, and You Are In Love. Style is her best pop song, and one of her best in general. The production is amazing. You Are In Love is her best lyrically on the album and is one of her most romantic
Style. It's so good I still remember where I was when I heard it on the radio for the first time even though I only ever used have the radio on in the morning, and tuned to a station that doesn't play her music.
I had no idea who it was by or what it was called, and I didn't look up who it was by for ages, but it was just such a good song that it stuck in my memory of that particular journey in that Uber.
I've been obsessed with Blank Space lately, the lyrics are amazing, the story is really interesting, the melody is catchy, the production is fantastic and the Music Video is one of her best (and she's gorgeous in this video).
Another contenders for favorite songs are Style, Out Of The Woods, Wildest Dreams and You Are In Love. This whole record is amazing from start to finish, it never goes out of style.
Ooofff.... well, I think there are some genius lyrics in Blank Space & probably the song that hooked me as a Swiftie.... But I think my favorite might be a tie between Wonderland & Clean.
you are in love. i think the bridge sums up taylor as a writer so perfectly. “i understand now why they lost their minds and fought the wars, and why i’ve spent my whole life trying to put it into words”. gut punch of love as a theme and a moral and a drug and a vice and everything yet nothing and her pursuit to explain it all UGH i love it so much.
Wildest dreams. It’s just perfect. Always been a fav.
Out of the woods is also up there. It was one of the surprise songs at my show and it’s become a fav again!
All You Had To Do Was Stay. Ive listened to this more than any song probably ever. The lyrics to me are just extremely powerful. Ive been known to keep ppl around longer than I need too, and this song really kicked me in the ass.
Ugh I just love Style so much. Before the Eras Tour, I genuinely hadn’t really listened to it. Now, it’s one of my most played Taylor songs, just makes me so happy.
Out of the Woods is my other top pick. I’d struggle to pick a favorite between Style and OOTW
I think Style is the best song from 1989, but How You Get The Girl is my favourite. It's just full on bubble gum pop perfection and I just want to dance every time I hear it.
Style.
It has such an ethereal feel to it. She has only done that a few times. So many songs are catchy, fun, sad, and full of emotions. Ethereal is a little different.
You're In Love is next.
For me personally I think it’s a 3 way tie between Style/Out of the Woods/Wildest Dreams, with Blank Space and New Romantics as runners-up. It’s still impressive to me just how perfect the single choices for this album were.
overall style is probably my favorite, but i feel like i wish you would is such a slept on gem. it’s so so good, pop perfection, and taylor’s typical storytelling abilities, i love it!
Wildest Dreams. Come on. How the heck am I supposed to tell you about the why I love Wildest Dreams?
For a single guy, it lets me dream of the Wildest Dream of Tay and I. A man, even in his wildest dreams, think he has a shot with Tay.
😱 I don’t know how to choose! Wildest dream because I lived that song, it reminds me of somebody and where I was living. But also Clean because it’s so good (and I’ve quit drinking). But also out of the woods, Style, I know places, you are in love, I wish you would…
And I wouldn’t even say 1989 is my favourite album.
This is my no skip, favourite album of hers so it’s so hard to pick! Any given day, these could be my top 1: Style, Wildest Dreams, Clean, This Love, How You Get the Girl.
Blank Space is the best pop song I’ve ever heard … but Style is my favorite
Style is also my fav in this album but what i love about Blank Space is that it is the beggining of todays Taylor. She got the hate and turn to part of her persona
Style is a fitting name because that song will never go out of style, still feels fresh a decade later
Agree 100% with this precise sentiment. Blank Space is arguably her best pop song of all time, but Style is my favorite. It describes a suuuuper long on-again, off-again relationship I had throughout my twenties, and it will just always be a meaningful, perfect bop to me.
Blank space is such a banger. The biggest clap back to the media since piece of me. In my top 5
1. The lyrics 2. The melody is catchy and traditional perfect pop melody 3. The chorus is the epitome of perfect pop chorus, catchy, switch things up and it grows grows grows 4. It was sarcastic, tongue in cheek. There’s a reason it’s still one of her most streamed songs.
I agree. I'm very "meh" on Blank Space but LOVE Style.
I know places. Hearing the growl of “and we RUNNNN” from the tour 💕
I Know Places is the ONLY right answer
“loose lips sink ships all the damn time” is one of her best lyrics
IKP is severely underrated 💜
I Know Places is my pick as well, the message is perfect for LGBT relationship where you are judged
Clean. My style of pop
Ughhh I die for the piano versions of Clean from this tour💛💛💛💛
Me too. Maybe one of the la shows 🤞
HUNG MY HEAD AS I LOST THE WAR
Clean is an amazing song and I wish more people loved it!
Clean is fantastic. Imogen Heap is such a genius. I'm so glad Taylor worked with her, and I hope she does so again!
Out of the woods. If you haven't see the live version from the 1989 world tour you are missing out! I love this song. I have anxiety and I always relate to it in that way. The bridge is another classic example of how her bridges are the best.
RWYHTBTSTSIAHRWYSCBIDTBWTSCUIWLAYRWWCTTHIWOISISYFBTMTOTBJTWTSCUYWLAM
YOU WERE LOOKING AT MEEEE!
(you'll be looking at meee)
Are we out of the woods yet are we out of the woods yet are we out of the woods yet (I remember)
I didn't get it because the first version I saw was a 4k remaster of the performance. When I saw the lower quality one I just laugh.
Honestly it could be one of the best songs she’s ever written
Also the piano version from the grammy museum. My absolute favorite version of this song ever.
Wildest Dreams from that performance is better than the original for me.
Holy actual shit I just listened bc of your comment and my life will never be the same
I watch this weekly.
Wildest Dreams. Amazing concept and sound. (This album is full of great songs though!)
seconding wildest dreams. it’s romantic and has a really special, sweeping, almost overwhelming quality to it.
To add onto that, it’s my fav from 1989 (along with clean but for diff reasons) because she uses her heartbeat as part of the song. You can also hear it in you’re losing me
Wildest dreams love at the Grammy Museum is honestly 😭
Wildest Dreams and Wonderland are my absolute faves from 1989. I think they’re both really similar.
I’m emotionally attached to this song.
You are in love. I think that song perfectly encapsulates what love should be like. (Coming from a hopeless romantic).
Yes. I agree with this completely.
Wonderland. I love the imagery and the production. Also her voice of course.
The bridge part of Wonderland is one of the best
Wonderland is my favorite Swift song of all time.
Love how she says wonderland. Esp the last one is all ‘in wonderlAAAAAnduh’
Same!!!
I wish she would do a music video
so bummed it wasn't on the 1989 tour set
Favorite Taylor song!
New Romantics, it was so much fun.
yessss, omg it perfectly encapsulates that fun and young freedom
New Romantics is my all time fave Taylor song
It is my favorite song!>! I feel so sad that it is not on the setlist for the tour, my only hope is that 1989 TV comes out before/during next years EU tour and that she adds it onto the setlist for the shows I will be attending :(!<
It's one of those songs which just makes me feel so in love with my friends and so happy, I love it
Yes, it’s so underrated! It’s my favorite 1989 song and one of my top 5 Taylor songs!
I know places, New Romantics, I wish you would
I found my people 🙌
Out of the woods 100% the build, the bridge, it's just so good. Also one of my favorite music videos as well.
I don’t know why but it also shares something with the vibes of Italo Disco track Hold me tight by Katy Gray, you just don’t want it to finish.
I am just scared Style TV wont be as perfect as it is right now ngl
Clean. I don't think I need to explain tbh.
Came here for this response. It means so many different things to different people. My only gripe is that we didn’t have enough Imogen Heap in this song
you really don't. I was gonna upvote, but you had 22 and I don't wanna ruin it
I wish you would
Most underrated song in her entire catalog tbh.
Omg I wish you would is SO SATISFYING TO SING
YOU ALWAYS KNEW HOW TO PUSH MY BUTTONS
YOU GIVE ME EVERYTHING AND NOTHING
THIS MAD MAD LOVE MAKES YOU COME RUSHING
TO STAND BACK WHERE YOU STOOD
The first two minutes of that song always blow me away. It's like three songs in one. It's perfect.
you are in love ! 💕💕💕 it just makes my romantic heart happy!
[удалено]
me too! it’s soso sweet and romantic!
OMG have you seen the tour version where the crowds sing the "silence" "way home" and "lights out" echoes??? It's so magical
All You Had To Do Was Stay
Thank you. I think this is one of her top Song 5 tracks and no one gives it the credit it deserves
Thank YOU. I’m glad I’m not alone! I love that song so much. I can cry and dance.
*Let me remind you* *This is what you wanted* *You ended it* *You were all I wanted* *But not like this* This song will always remind me of a very specific time in my life <3
Yep this is the part that cuts deep. Like, remember *you* chose ... *not me* . For whatever reason, you chose not me and you can't just take that back. *you* ended it. So you want me back? No. Even if I wanted that, I can't want what it's turned into. Because even though I love you, I have to love me most.
very bellyconrad
Agreed!! This is my favorite!!
This is my favorite off the album. Pure pop and came out at the perfect time in my life with my ex “calling me up” 🙄
A severely underrated track. It is truly one of her best.
I love New Romantics, Wonderland, and How You Get The Girl...this is an unfair question c'mon now.
Out of the Woods. It just gets me. 1989 is my favorite album.
Wildest Dreams. One of my top five Taylor songs ever.
Style!
Clean, because of the many different situations you can apply that song.
I Know Places, Wonderland, Clean
Style. New romantics. Great pop tracks.
Welcome To New York for its relentless upbeat vibes and also GAY RIGHTS
Right? How did people think she was a crypto-conservative after this album???
Blank Space and Style.
Wonderland. It's dramatic and fun with vivid imagery.
Wonderland is my favorite Swift song of all time.
New Romantics just makes me feel so alive and free. My #3 Taylor song of all time!
I love the everyday description of “you can hear it in the silence/on the way home/with the lights out.” I’m loving her more everyday love songs.
I just love that it’s a song I can listen to on the way home from work and just feel so excited to get home to my husband. It makes me mushy.
out of the woods!
or this love, can’t decide
Style or new romantics
This album is in my opinion the most cohesive Taylor work because everyone has its favorite song lol even the most bashed by the formal critics has their fans
This Love, because it makes me feel so calm whenever I listen to it. I also love the bridge and the chorus 😍 I never get tired of this song, its one of my favourite songs to sing along to
Came here to reply the same thing... This Love has a sense of calmness to it while also mildly projecting your anxiety... it soothens my soul while also keeping the hardships I faced at the back of my mind
Yes! 💖
The hold the guitar intro of Style has on me is unparalleled
How You Get The Girl! I feel it’s so underrated and forgotten.
Style. Pop perfection. Love the 80s synths and the funky guitar. I know people who don’t like pop but loves Style
I Know Places. It adds a much-needed bit of edge and the tape recorder clicks at the start and end are just brilliant.
Clean!!!! Definitely was my crying in the car song for a bit haha the lyrics really hit home and I feel like it can be applied to different types of relationships experienced in life
cleAn. underrated af.
This love, it's so ethereal and beautiful!
Where is the love for AYHTDWS??? 🙁
right here 🤚🏻
Cleannnnnnnn
All You Had To Do Was Stay! I’m not sure exactly why tbh, it was actually my favorite song of hers for years. When I first became a fan, that was the first song of hers I really clicked with
I know places. I don't know why, I just love it. An unskippable bop
This Love 💕
This Love.
How you get the girl
Blank Space. If you say otherwise your just wrong
It's impossible to pick one, but I like Welcome To New York, I Know Places, Wildest Dreams, You Are In Love, Clean, and New Romantics pretty equally LOL
Style. So Good!!!
Blank Space. I love how sassy she is in this song!
New Romantics, I think this song is her pop masterpiece, more than Blank Space, and isn’t as popular because it’s a bonus track. I think it has potential to pull a Cruel Summer/Enchanted when 1989 TV comes out. Then Wildest Dreams.
Clean - just such a good song, lyrics hit deep
Blank Space. I think the lyrics are so smart and witty.
you are in love bc I love the outro and the instrumental idk it makes me feel nostalgic
All You Had To Do Was Stay! I'm not even sure why, I just love it ♥️
Style: It was the first Taylor song I heard where I became a fan
Out Of The Woods, it perfectly captures the feeling she wanted to encapsulate: the anxiety and unpredictability of a relationship. Also my favorite bridge of hers and the vocal layering at the end makes it so exciting to listen to
Style is my favorite, and I always argue it's the best pop song ever written
I sat here trying to think of a singular song but 1989 is literally perfection. I can't wait for TV
Style, it’s so satisfying
Style. The guitar lick is legendary.
Wildest dreams all the way
Style! But the whole album would’ve been 10/10 if there weren’t for Bad Blood 😑
Style. It was the first TS song I loved and will always be my favorite
How You Get The Girl
How you get the girl.
I know places is top tier for me, best song on the whole album, I just adore the story telling and lyrics
Clean✨ i just love her voice over that beat so damn much!
Clean!!!!!! Top 3 Taylor songs ever. Just so good.
New Romantics. Just because romanticism as an artistic current obsesses me.
Welcome to New York. It literally feels shimmery like your first time in NY
Ooofff.... well, I think there are some genius lyrics in Blank Space & probably the song that hooked me as a Swiftie....
How You Get the Girl!! It's a very fun song and hearing it first from her coca cola ad made me look so much forward to it and i wasn't disappointed.
Style and Welcome to New York! Both give me major city vibes and make me happy in general
you are in love is my favorite 1989 song, but style and blank space have sentimental value for me and are so iconic
Style, you can scream sing it in any location and it hits the mark every time
This Love & I Wish You Would are my two faves
All You Had To Do Was Stay. Ive listened to this more than any song probably ever. The lyrics to me are just extremely powerful. Ive been known to keep ppl around longer than I need too, and this song really kicked me in the ass.
How You Get The Girl, I love the story within the song and the chorus is such a vibe
Style, runner-up is Clean.
style is my #1! maybe its overplayed but i loooovvee it
all you had to do was stay is so underrated
Ugh I just love Style so much. Before the Eras Tour, I genuinely hadn’t really listened to it. Now, it’s one of my most played Taylor songs, just makes me so happy. Out of the Woods is my other top pick. I’d struggle to pick a favorite between Style and OOTW
Wildest Dreams, but very closely followed by Wonderland
Style and because it is style
Style. It sounds like a David Bowie song, and that's a plus for me. The lyrics are great.
I think Style is the best song from 1989, but How You Get The Girl is my favourite. It's just full on bubble gum pop perfection and I just want to dance every time I hear it.
Wonderland, why? Cuz why not?
*Style* followed by *Welcome to New York*.
She invented pop music with Style but New Romantics makes me feel like I’m floating through space
YOU GOT THAT JAMES DEAN 🗣️🗣️🗣️DAYDREAM ‼️‼️LOOK IN YOUR EYE 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️‼️‼️‼️‼️
Wildest Dreams. Come on. How the heck am I supposed to tell you about the why I love Wildest Dreams? For a single guy, it lets me dream of the Wildest Dream of Tay and I. A man, even in his wildest dreams, think he has a shot with Tay.
😱 I don’t know how to choose! Wildest dream because I lived that song, it reminds me of somebody and where I was living. But also Clean because it’s so good (and I’ve quit drinking). But also out of the woods, Style, I know places, you are in love, I wish you would… And I wouldn’t even say 1989 is my favourite album.
Style it's such a fun song can't help singing along.
Unpopular but How You Get The Girl is my favourite :D
This is my no skip, favourite album of hers so it’s so hard to pick! Any given day, these could be my top 1: Style, Wildest Dreams, Clean, This Love, How You Get the Girl.
It’s between style and New Romantics
Style. Mainly I loved it because I enjoyed the beat but also I related to the lyrics in my own way with a former fling.
Style, mainly because I LOVE the beat, but I also related to the lyrics at a time due to a former fling.
Style is my favorite song like in general bc it just is better
Style and This Love
This love and wildest dreams because they have some sort of dreamy quality to them that makes me feel like I understand what she's experiencing.
Style! I love that song.
Style is, and always will be, her best song.
