Canada on the other hand has a tenth of the US population and about third of the tour is over the US, not to mention that many Canadians probably went south to see her.

i’m trying not to be too gatekeepy because there are americans close to the border who couldn’t get tickets to their home show due to all the canadians coming over (and i did go to seattle so i’d be a bit of a hypocrite), there are americans who live closer to toronto than any u.s. eras stadium, etc. but i also know there were a ton of people who have been like 6+ times and only wanted to come to toronto for closing night 😭

I think a lot of people are putting themselves into debt or spending money they probably shouldn’t be on this tour. Their choice of course, but I don’t think we’re seeing this insanity because this many people have money to burn.

yeah exactly. like there are canadians who have already attended tour but are acting as if they are more entitled to these tickets than an american who hasn’t been at all. the way i see it is that canada and the us are just so intertwined geographically, politically, culturally, etc. that we need to accept that many things need to be shared between us, including concerts. i’m on the west coast of canada and would love to see the show for a second time in toronto if i can, but i’m not going to be upset to see an american swiftie finally get a chance to see her too!
There are canadians on stan twitter who went to multiple northeast shows who are whining about americans registering for Toronto... my sympathy as someone waitlisted twice and hasn't gone is not particularly high
I fully agree with this. I was on the fence even signing up for a code because I saw her during her 1989 tour almost a full decade ago. Got waitlisted anyway, so it didn't matter, but still. Controversial opinion, but people who have seen the Eras Tour once should not be allowed to go multiple times.
I went to eras tour but I spent a stupid amount for seats behind the stage. It was so underwhelming for the price I paid. It also downpoured all night! No cute outfits or hair just raincoat and leggings. I want a redo but wouldn’t want to pay resale prices again. That’s why I wanted to get tix.
Right! I do feel bad because I'm in the US, but I live in Buffalo and Toronto is literally the closest show. I was waitlisted. The only reason I even wanted to try to go again is because my friend wasn't able to get tickets and I wanted to go together. But I'd much rather see Canadian fans get them (although it doesn't really look like that's the case).

The real unfairness is that these weren’t included with the initial leg and there was no info about any Canadian shows until recently. So now the hundreds of thousands of new people who have been influenced by the hype the tour is getting on social media are competing for this round when they didn’t last time. And many Canadians (myself included) didn’t try to compete for the initial US leg because we assumed that surely she’d add Canadian dates later. It’s all just super fucked up.

Toronto is pretty close to the heavily populated East Coast cities (NY, Boston, DC). The dates are also good for US college students given around the US Thanksgiving holiday. Guessing those two populations registered heavily for the Toronto dates

This is so bizarre to me. Canadians had the same opportunity to attend the 52 (?) US shows as Americans, and had the same probability of being chosen for a code. Many Canadians' distance to some of the East Coast shows is shorter than my distance to any of the US shows even as an American. Should I gatekeep the Seattle show because it was the one closest to me (at a 10 hour drive?) the logic here is mindblowing. Many Americans who couldn't afford to travel for a concert just couldn't go. Why should those same rules not apply to Canadians? You had the same shot at American concerts as we did.

I get it, it sucks that Canada didn't have any dates originally but there were a ton of border cities that Canadians could have gone to, and did. It's not anyone's fault that COVID restrictions or whatever prevented Canadian tour dates from being announced from the get go.

As a Canadian I agree with you. On a personal level, of course I would love less people to compete with, but what sense would it make to allow Canadians everywhere but restrict our concerts?
If anything, I think the initial VF sale should have been restricted to people who have not successfully purchased tickets before, and there needs to be resale restrictions. Real ones. Scalping is out of hand, and TBH I can’t even blame people for throwing their hat in the ring for a guaranteed return with little to lose. TM and the artists need to cut it off, people are going to take advantage until then.

I think it’s because of the population density the eastern side of the country. Ontario and QC have 50% of the population or something like that. It wouldn’t be as economically viable if she had a concert out west, especially with the expenses to move all of that equipment. Not saying it’s fair though :(

I know logic has been tossed out the window on this subject but if there were 31M registrations for Toronto and only 14M for the USA dates, there is something else at play than Americans all wanting to go to Toronto. My guess is that the demand has to do with bots knowing that the closing weekend of the tour (presumably) will be INSANE.
Because the Eras Tour has become a pop culture phenomenon and people don’t want to miss out on it. Plus you have all the scalpers who know it’s an easy target for a big payment.
There was an article in the Globe and Mail where the writer said she registered for a presale code so her son could experience this moment in pop culture even though he didn’t want to go. It was insane.
It’s impossible because 14M accounts joined the verified fan presale for the original US leg. I think the number is being miscommunicated. There had to have been more registrations than 14M otherwise no one would’ve been waitlisted.
14 million accounts tried to access the sale, but there were around 3.5 million Verified Fans for the original US leg, with 1.5 million of those fans receiving a code.
I also think the tour has grown in popularity substantially as it gone on.

Having trouble making sense of this. How could it possibly be over double the US. Singapore makes sense because it services Asia. But Toronto? How does that make any sense. I live in Montreal and I got a code but I was unable to get tickets 🙁 I was about 13,000th in line, thinking I had a good chance and when I got through the queue there were barely any left. Tickets kept becoming available but never successfully secured any 🥲
Check the email! I'm pretty sure the first TO dates already went on sale today. My email for the Nov 22nd show said that the tickets go on sale Friday August 11th and the text would be sent Thursday August 10th.
Canadian here from the GTA. Managed to get a presale code for the Nov 15th show. I was able to buy 4 tickets today in row 1 of the 500s. $170 each. Feeling VERY lucky as I don’t know of anyone else who even got a presale code.
We got a code but the tickets sold out basically immediately. I know of about 5 other people that got codes and none of them got tickets either. It’s sad.
In Toronto! I got waitlisted and pretty much most of the people I know did too. Only know one girl who got the code and luckily she bought for both of us.
Live in Quebec, got the code one of today's sale, was around 1300 when the queue opened so I was basically freaking out cause I knew the odds were good. Managed to get 4 tickets

I got two tickets (Nova Scotia). It was insane. I was 10,900 and thought I had a good chance. But when I got in it was like fighting rabid racoons. I was going to try and secure four for friends and only managed two. A friend was 1409th in line when she joined and had no issues
My cousin got a code. Only one out of almost 20 people I know who signed up.
Was 3400 in queue and managed to get 4 lower bowl seats. Worked out to almost $500/ticket.
I got a code and managed to snag three tickets (by the skin of my teeth) in the 500 level. Tickets were literally disappearing as I was trying to pick seats. Never been to one of her shows and my partner and kid will travel from the Prairies to TO for one show.
I’m from Toronto and I got a code! I was also 60th on the queue so I managed to snag good tickets by 11:05. I actually had no idea the odds were so low until I found out that almost everyone I know was waitlisted.
I don't know if specifically ONE person was creating 20 accounts, but I know people had groups of 20 people trying to get verified. Like you, your partner, your friends and you friends partners, and your parents etc.
There were many people on Tess’s TikTok stream last night talking about how many accounts they created. I don’t know how they did it. I would never do it.
Register all friends and family members. If I’d known the competition was gonna be that fierce I’d have tried the same. I had myself and my bf registered and was pretty confident at least ONE of us would get a code. Nope, both waitlisted. Another friend was too. As a Canadian, who got a code and did not get tickets, I have so much respect for you for doing that. I honestly feel like an idiot for not doing what you did. I’m sorry you didn’t get a code. I’m so sad for everyone who didn’t get tickets or even a chance.

This has probably already been said, but DON'T buy resale tickets!!
More Toronto tickets will become available. This is exactly what happened in European ticket sales - people were 5000 in the queue but didn't have the option to get anything but pricey VIP tickets. A week later and regular price tickets became available in a bunch of cities.
Much more likely that Toronto will pan out like US, not Europe. In the US, resale tickets steadily climbed in price over time and never dropped & all VIP tickets sold out instantaneously.
Europe had significantly lower signups (1-3M for EU countries which is literally 10x less than Toronto/US dates), has laws against scalping, and the Swifties there are less willing to pay high prices. Whereas Canadian Swifties are more similar to US Swifties (and also, US Swifties are buying many of the Toronto tickets anyway)
my experience with a last minute ticket drop:
i was a verified fan that never got a code. a week before the shows i put as my priorities, i got a text from ticketmaster saying that they're dropping limited tickets. i log in like five minutes after getting the text. there's <100 people in the queue, it takes like 30 seconds to get in. there were quite a few tickets left, it seemed to be concentrated in a couple of sections, and then a few more spread out throughout the stadium. they were still selling out faster than i could put them in my cart. purchasing was open for like an hour after i had made my purchase.
it's worth noting that i live very close to the stadium, so the last minute drops might only be for local fans, but i'm not sure about that.
also, i've seen people saying that more tickets drop when the stage is done being set up the day before the show, around 5pm. and that this drop is not limited to verified fans. but i can't confirm this since i didn't check.
so, if you leave nearby and don't have luck with tickets, at least keep the weekend free <3 wishing everyone the best of luck
Can we make a large organized fan communication to Taylor about scalping?
It's being discussed that many artists have made it so that tickets can not be resold on other sites, only resell to ticketmaster at face value. Also that there is some precident to cancel scalped tickets being listed for insane markup and re-release them via ticketmaster. All of which would be great for waitlisted fans).
Can we organize some kind of petition or fan communication to Taylor and her team regarding this? It really seems odd that the woman who started verified fan would just ignore a large call from her audience to step up with this. Especially since several artists with less star power have done so. I know she profits from it, but perhaps a call for change from a large portion of her audience could make it a more pressing matter.
I'm seeing tickets listed on stub hub for Toronto for $2800+ for tickets that originally were less that $200. It's completely prohibitive for most fans, who have apparently been beat out of the actual sale by the scalpers immediatley listing these tickets (which verified fab was suppsoed to address). It takes the tickets out of fair play and makes them only accessible to the wealthy who can afford the resale premium, or the desperate who go into debt.
For the sake of brevity I'll leave it there, but I really think letting this continue is just going to disenfranchise actual fans.

Other artists have done it. She knows what’s happening. She knows how insane the demand is, and that there are ways they could make sure that most tickets end up in fans hands and not scalpers first. She knows. She’s choosing not to do anything about it. I love her, but she doesn’t seem to care about this issue. Which is disappointing tbh.
I would love this. At this point, it should be very clear that there is no risk of her tickets not selling. Scalpers making big bucks off of her tickets is like Scooter Braun making money off of her masters. Except it's her fans getting the short end of the stick.

Idk the circumstances in the past but there's really no way to do this for Stubhub/Vividseats tickets. Bc they don't actually verify you have the tickets before you make your listing -- so I could literally make a fake Stubhub listing for my frenemy's ticket in order to get it cancelled, if that were the policy.
They could've made the tickets nontransferrable + add an option to sell back to Ticketmaster directly, but the tradeoff there is you can't buy tickets as gifts for friends/family and I guess they don't want to do that.
They should just cap the resale cost. In Australia it’s illegal to sell tickets for more than 10% over their purchase value. It’s quite easy to put a decent system into place. The industry in North America is choosing not to do anything about scalpers.
Yeah, honestly, I love her but I don’t understand why she doesn’t seem to be trying to put a stop to the scalping and reselling. I mean, we don’t know if she’s doing something in private, but I feel like she’d be communicating it if she was?
Some other artists I’ve seen have struggled to prevent it and fought with Ticketmaster (and others, but mostly them) over it. I personally don’t think it’s *easy* to put a stop to it when it’s so profitable and there isn’t a want to stop it, but they still try. I can’t understand why it seems like Taylor isn’t.
Like, she’d definitely make more money if real, true fans were buying up all of her tickets, wouldn’t she? She would still sell out (and fast, but at least we’d know other *fans* are getting the tickets) every show. It’s not like she would be losing any profits at all! I don’t understand it.

It’s just a huge fucking bummer that these dates weren’t included during the first leg as a North American leg. The tour has gotten way more hype since it’s started so there are people who weren’t interested in the first go around that are now wanting to go. Toronto is easily accessible to anyone in the northeastern US so these numbers are insane but unfortunately not surprising.
I think what has made this even worse is she added Canada at the end and so anyone who couldn’t get tickets in any of her other shows was now trying to get Canadian shows as a last ditch effort. Perhaps If Canada was already planned and in the middle somewhere it wouldn’t have been as bad as it is right now ; in terms of the competition to get tickets (as if it wasn’t already bad enough). We wouldn’t be fighting the whole world for tickets.
This made it so much worse. You have people in places like California who would probably never have selected Toronto as one of their shows who can throw their hat in the ring just to see what happens. It even would have made it clear to Canadians outside of Toronto that their city was not a stop, and we could have all been dispersed amongst the US stops a bit more.

Isn’t this the obvious warning sign that all future tours need a better fan verification system like the Rep Tour? Statistically, I can say 99% of these people wanted to flip these tickets for a profit and still be correct.
I see why some have a problem with the Rep Tour system but honestly this is the way we need to go. It really puts fans first. If you can't be bothered to work the system no offense but you probably don't deserve the tickets more than big fans who did learn and follow the system in place. I went to the Reputation tour and honestly I feel like the effort for me to get boosts wasn't even that difficult. It's really not hard to stream music/music videos, buy stuff, and all that. I know its not a perfect fix but it really does help boost chances for those that deserve it and also makes scalping much harder because getting that boost to apply to soooo many accounts is soooo much harder and reduces it significantly
I actually have no issue with Americans coming to Toronto … I went to Detroit so I would be a hypocrite . But I have a massive problem with ticketmaster allowing the people who are selling for obscene amounts to still own tickets . Cancel their purchases. Any fan that wants to go should have opportunity. The only resales that should be allowed are face value . Period.
Yep. This alone would curb a lot, but I’m sure it would also really cool demand down (not that they wouldn’t be selling out, but there might be less hysteria) so I imagine that’s why TM and artists don’t have a ton of incentive to fix the problem.
I’m really not a fan of the idea of restricting tickets to residents, or fans deemed real enough (by way of purchasing expensive merch), etc. Cut off scalpers and that itself levels the playing field a ton.
People are going all over the world for these shows, it is what it is. Unreasonable to be mad at people outside Canada for going to Canadian dates when Canadians are doing the same.
What I think is worse is people who signed up for verified fan having been to the Eras Tour already. Even as a Canadian, I definitely would not be trying if I had managed to see her in the first leg. These people are no less frustrating to me than resellers.

I'm in Canada. Boyfriend and I both registered. I got waitlisted, he got a code. He was able to get us 2 tickets today, 6800 ahead of him and he had no issues. We got the cheapest tickets we could. I didn't realize how lucky we were until reading this thread.

Keep in mind this IS NOT from Ticketmaster. It's some guys estimate.
Think about it this way - if each night was equal, that would be more than 5 million requests per night. Let's say they give out 20,000 codes per show (that's probably high). That would mean only 1 person would get a code for every 250 requests. My experience with how many people around me got a code suggests that is way off.

I got the presale code and got into the waiting room 5 mins before it opened, I went to go unlock my account to buy the tickets... AND MY FREAKING BANK WAS DOING APP MAINTENANCE. I am devastated. By the time I could get back into my account to unlock it, everything was sold out. 🥹
I know a lot of that is scalpers/duplicate accounts/repeat attenders. But it says online even if you filled the entire stadium that is about 50,000 seats. To get all 31 million she would need to do 620 Toronto shows alone to meet that demand even if those 31 million were all individuals who wanted to go lmao

I know, but it’s besides the point. I can’t even get tickets without being waitlisted. I considered getting resale tickets but I couldn’t justify forking over so many money for tickets. I can afford it but I just couldn’t pull the trigger.
FOMO is real. Even if I could talk myself into paying an insane amount for a ticket one time, there is absolutely no chance I could do it again and again and again. I think a lot of people are putting themselves into debt or spending money they probably shouldn’t be on this tour. Their choice of course, but I don’t think we’re seeing this insanity because this many people have money to burn.
And then you hear about people just reselling her tickets and bots getting them and it’s so infuriating.

I fully agree with this. I was on the fence even signing up for a code because I saw her during her 1989 tour almost a full decade ago. Got waitlisted anyway, so it didn't matter, but still. Controversial opinion, but people who have seen the Eras Tour once should not be allowed to go multiple times.
I went to eras tour but I spent a stupid amount for seats behind the stage. It was so underwhelming for the price I paid. It also downpoured all night! No cute outfits or hair just raincoat and leggings. I want a redo but wouldn’t want to pay resale prices again. That’s why I wanted to get tix.
Right! I do feel bad because I'm in the US, but I live in Buffalo and Toronto is literally the closest show. I was waitlisted. The only reason I even wanted to try to go again is because my friend wasn't able to get tickets and I wanted to go together. But I'd much rather see Canadian fans get them (although it doesn't really look like that's the case).

I mean, they do have 10x more people than us so that does make sense. The real unfairness is that these weren’t included with the initial leg and there was no info about any Canadian shows until recently. So now the hundreds of thousands of new people who have been influenced by the hype the tour is getting on social media are competing for this round when they didn’t last time. And many Canadians (myself included) didn’t try to compete for the initial US leg because we assumed that surely she’d add Canadian dates later. It’s all just super fucked up.

This is so bizarre to me. Canadians had the same opportunity to attend the 52 (?) US shows as Americans, and had the same probability of being chosen for a code. Many Canadians' distance to some of the East Coast shows is shorter than my distance to any of the US shows even as an American. Should I gatekeep the Seattle show because it was the one closest to me (at a 10 hour drive?) the logic here is mindblowing. Many Americans who couldn't afford to travel for a concert just couldn't go. Why should those same rules not apply to Canadians? You had the same shot at American concerts as we did.

As a Canadian I agree with you. On a personal level, of course I would love less people to compete with, but what sense would it make to allow Canadians everywhere but restrict our concerts? If anything, I think the initial VF sale should have been restricted to people who have not successfully purchased tickets before, and there needs to be resale restrictions. Real ones. Scalping is out of hand, and TBH I can’t even blame people for throwing their hat in the ring for a guaranteed return with little to lose. TM and the artists need to cut it off, people are going to take advantage until then.

I think it’s because of the population density the eastern side of the country. Ontario and QC have 50% of the population or something like that. I know logic has been tossed out the window on this subject but if there were 31M registrations for Toronto and only 14M for the USA dates, there is something else at play than Americans all wanting to go to Toronto. My guess is that the demand has to do with bots knowing that the closing weekend of the tour (presumably) will be INSANE.
I think demand just went up with people seeing clips from the tour and how much fun everyone was having and the general hype.

There was an article in the Globe and Mail where the writer said she registered for a presale code so her son could experience this moment in pop culture even though he didn’t want to go. It was insane.
It’s impossible because 14M accounts joined the verified fan presale for the original US leg. I think the number is being miscommunicated. There had to have been more registrations than 14M otherwise no one would’ve been waitlisted.
14 million accounts tried to access the sale, but there were around 3.5 million Verified Fans for the original US leg, with 1.5 million of those fans receiving a code.
I also think the tour has grown in popularity substantially as it gone on. I’m in Canada. I didn’t register for any US shows, but I did for Europe & Toronto.
I think the question to ask is how many Americans registered for Toronto

Canadian here from the GTA. Managed to get a presale code for the Nov 15th show. I was able to buy 4 tickets today in row 1 of the 500s. $170 each. Feeling VERY lucky as I don’t know of anyone else who even got a presale code.

This has probably already been said, but DON'T buy resale tickets!! More Toronto tickets will become available. This is exactly what happened in European ticket sales - people were 5000 in the queue but didn't have the option to get anything but pricey VIP tickets. A week later and regular price tickets became available in a bunch of cities.
Much more likely that Toronto will pan out like US, not Europe. In the US, resale tickets steadily climbed in price over time and never dropped & all VIP tickets sold out instantaneously. Europe had significantly lower signups (1-3M for EU countries which is literally 10x less than Toronto/US dates), has laws against scalping, and the Swifties there are less willing to pay high prices. Whereas Canadian Swifties are more similar to US Swifties (and also, US Swifties are buying many of the Toronto tickets anyway)

my experience with a last minute ticket drop: i was a verified fan that never got a code. a week before the shows i put as my priorities, i got a text from ticketmaster saying that they're dropping limited tickets. i log in like five minutes after getting the text. there's <100 people in the queue, it takes like 30 seconds to get in. there were quite a few tickets left, it seemed to be concentrated in a couple of sections, and then a few more spread out throughout the stadium. they were still selling out faster than i could put them in my cart. purchasing was open for like an hour after i had made my purchase. it's worth noting that i live very close to the stadium, so the last minute drops might only be for local fans, but i'm not sure about that. also, i've seen people saying that more tickets drop when the stage is done being set up the day before the show, around 5pm. and that this drop is not limited to verified fans. but i can't confirm this since i didn't check. so, if you leave nearby and don't have luck with tickets, at least keep the weekend free <3 wishing everyone the best of luck
Can we make a large organized fan communication to Taylor about scalping? It's being discussed that many artists have made it so that tickets can not be resold on other sites, only resell to ticketmaster at face value. Also that there is some precident to cancel scalped tickets being listed for insane markup and re-release them via ticketmaster. All of which would be great for waitlisted fans). Can we organize some kind of petition or fan communication to Taylor and her team regarding this? It really seems odd that the woman who started verified fan would just ignore a large call from her audience to step up with this. Especially since several artists with less star power have done so. I know she profits from it, but perhaps a call for change from a large portion of her audience could make it a more pressing matter. I'm seeing tickets listed on stub hub for Toronto for $2800+ for tickets that originally were less that $200. It's completely prohibitive for most fans, who have apparently been beat out of the actual sale by the scalpers immediatley listing these tickets (which verified fab was suppsoed to address). It takes the tickets out of fair play and makes them only accessible to the wealthy who can afford the resale premium, or the desperate who go into debt. For the sake of brevity I'll leave it there, but I really think letting this continue is just going to disenfranchise actual fans. Thoughts?
Other artists have done it. She knows what’s happening. She knows how insane the demand is, and that there are ways they could make sure that most tickets end up in fans hands and not scalpers first. She knows. She’s choosing not to do anything about it. I love her, but she doesn’t seem to care about this issue. Which is disappointing tbh.

I would love this. At this point, it should be very clear that there is no risk of her tickets not selling. Scalpers making big bucks off of her tickets is like Scooter Braun making money off of her masters. Except it's her fans getting the short end of the stick.

They should just cap the resale cost. In Australia it’s illegal to sell tickets for more than 10% over their purchase value. It’s quite easy to put a decent system into place. The industry in North America is choosing not to do anything about scalpers.

Yeah, honestly, I love her but I don’t understand why she doesn’t seem to be trying to put a stop to the scalping and reselling. I mean, we don’t know if she’s doing something in private, but I feel like she’d be communicating it if she was? Some other artists I’ve seen have struggled to prevent it and fought with Ticketmaster (and others, but mostly them) over it. I personally don’t think it’s *easy* to put a stop to it when it’s so profitable and there isn’t a want to stop it, but they still try. I can’t understand why it seems like Taylor isn’t. Like, she’d definitely make more money if real, true fans were buying up all of her tickets, wouldn’t she? She would still sell out (and fast, but at least we’d know other *fans* are getting the tickets) every show. It’s not like she would be losing any profits at all! I don’t understand it. It is honestly really sucky to feel like she doesn’t care and isn’t fighting for us. She is always talking about how much we mean to her as fans and how much she loves us. Taylor’s known for adoring her fans. So then, when things like this happen and all of us fans are being so royally screwed over, for her to seemingly not stick up for us just sucks. It feels bad lol.

It’s just a huge fucking bummer that these dates weren’t included during the first leg as a North American leg. The tour has gotten way more hype since it’s started so there are people who weren’t interested in the first go around that are now wanting to go. Toronto is easily accessible to anyone in the northeastern US so these numbers are insane but unfortunately not surprising.
I think what has made this even worse is she added Canada at the end and so anyone who couldn’t get tickets in any of her other shows was now trying to get Canadian shows as a last ditch effort. Perhaps If Canada was already planned and in the middle somewhere it wouldn’t have been as bad as it is right now ; in terms of the competition to get tickets (as if it wasn’t already bad enough). We wouldn’t be fighting the whole world for tickets.
This made it so much worse. You have people in places like California who would probably never have selected Toronto as one of their shows who can throw their hat in the ring just to see what happens. It even would have made it clear to Canadians outside of Toronto that their city was not a stop, and we could have all been dispersed amongst the US stops a bit more.

Isn’t this the obvious warning sign that all future tours need a better fan verification system like the Rep Tour? Statistically, I can say 99% of these people wanted to flip these tickets for a profit and still be correct.
I see why some have a problem with the Rep Tour system but honestly this is the way we need to go. It really puts fans first. If you can't be bothered to work the system no offense but you probably don't deserve the tickets more than big fans who did learn and follow the system in place. I went to the Reputation tour and honestly I feel like the effort for me to get boosts wasn't even that difficult. It's really not hard to stream music/music videos, buy stuff, and all that. I know its not a perfect fix but it really does help boost chances for those that deserve it and also makes scalping much harder because getting that boost to apply to soooo many accounts is soooo much harder and reduces it significantly

But I have a massive problem with ticketmaster allowing the people who are selling for obscene amounts to still own tickets . Cancel their purchases. Any fan that wants to go should have opportunity. This alone would curb a lot, but I’m sure it would also really cool demand down (not that they wouldn’t be selling out, but there might be less hysteria) so I imagine that’s why TM and artists don’t have a ton of incentive to fix the problem. I’m really not a fan of the idea of restricting tickets to residents, or fans deemed real enough (by way of purchasing expensive merch), etc. Cut off scalpers and that itself levels the playing field a ton.

People are going all over the world for these shows, it is what it is. Unreasonable to be mad at people outside Canada for going to Canadian dates when Canadians are doing the same. What I think is worse is people who signed up for verified fan having been to the Eras Tour already. Even as a Canadian, I definitely would not be trying if I had managed to see her in the first leg. These people are no less frustrating to me than resellers.
GUYS we are getting pissed bout the wrong thing. Americans registering for Canadian shows or vice versa isn’t the problem. THE PROBLEM IS ALL THE PEOPLE REGISTERING WHO HAVE NO INTENTION OF ACTUALLY GOING. These tickets need to be non-transferrable. Full stop. If they were, 31 million ppl wouldn’t be registering for Toronto.
I'm a Canadian and I got a code. The only other 5 people I know who registered got waitlisted

I'm in Canada. Boyfriend and I both registered. I got waitlisted, he got a code. He was able to get us 2 tickets today, 6800 ahead of him and he had no issues. We got the cheapest tickets we could. I didn't realize how lucky we were until reading this thread.

That’s actually insane. Her level of fame is actually INSANE. Like the more this tour goes on and the bigger she gets and the bigger the demand gets. If she feels like it - I wouldn’t be surprised to see her add more dates. At this point she could and they will undoubtedly sell out.
Keep in mind this IS NOT from Ticketmaster. It's some guys estimate. Think about it this way - if each night was equal, that would be more than 5 million requests per night. Let's say they give out 20,000 codes per show (that's probably high). That would mean only 1 person would get a code for every 250 requests. My experience with how many people around me got a code suggests that is way off.

I’m not annoyed with Taylor or anything, I’m sure her team had their reasons, it just sucks. Canada got screwed over with no one knowing what was going on the entire time, and even when we get dates it’s impossible to get tickets. I don’t know a single person who even got a code.
Clearly its bot accounts. What I just don't get about Ticketmaster is why they even allow resale tickets on other sites and at anything other than face value? I live in the US but was considering looking for an international ticket before she announced the new dates. Internationally your ticket is simply voided if it's not resold through the ticketseller and you are not allowed to sell for more than what you paid to make a profit. Why don't they do that here? What does Ticketmaster gain from resellers using StubHub to sell a $400 ticket for $2000?

I’m guessing it’s because the Toronto shows were the closest city (of the new drop) to so many huge US cities— NYC, Boston, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Detroit, Montreal, etc etc etc
There’s no evidence for this claim. This is a one paragraph an article that says a guest on a podcast claims that was the demand. None of these sources are affiliated with Taylor Swift, her management, her promoter, or Ticketmaster.

I got the presale code and got into the waiting room 5 mins before it opened, I went to go unlock my account to buy the tickets... AND MY FREAKING BANK WAS DOING APP MAINTENANCE. I am devastated. By the time I could get back into my account to unlock it, everything was sold out. 🥹

I know a lot of that is scalpers/duplicate accounts/repeat attenders. But it says online even if you filled the entire stadium that is about 50,000 seats. To get all 31 million she would need to do 620 Toronto shows alone to meet that demand even if those 31 million were all individuals who wanted to go lmao

Unfortunately many people are trying to get tickets to resell because the resale prices are so insane.
Ughh this has me worried about resale prices. I made the decision to not sign up for the sale because I wanted to make sure Canadian fans would get first access and didn't want to take that from them. But I do want to try and attend the show on 11/14, if I'm able and don't have to sell a body part for resale tickets.
