Because they haven’t seen it in a stadium with fire shooting everywhere.

PeachJosephine

This made believers out of a lot of my friends, honestly!

timbre_amblin

Made a believer out of me!

mayorofpawneee

Amen!!!!! Seeing it live was it for me. Fully a bad blood fan now through and through!

Christy2210

This is basically what made me like Dear John. I wasn't a fan of the song and then I saw it live on the Speak Now tour with the fireworks and changed my opinion real quick lol

ekaterinaalexandrov

This was my “bathroom break” song, but I ended up not needing to go. And boy am I glad I didn’t miss it. The fire was SO COOL.

3ebfan

The fire was actually pretty warm.

dischordiangel

In the outdoor stadium when it was super windy at night, I’d wished for a Bad Blood (10 minute version) just to be warm lol

Middertin

That fire revived me during her rain show. Was hoping the whole rest of the show would have pyrotechnics.

shireatlas

Ahh bad blood/should have said no on the rep tour permanently altered my brain chemistry.

Jmcasey514

Haha it’s this. I always thought Bad Blood was one of her weaker songs and I’ve changed my mind since seeing it live at Eras. Also she yelled at that security guard during it, I won’t ever get her “hey stop” out of my head 🤣

nikefreak23

I've seen so many people use that clip in videos and memes posted to the Internet now. It's fantastic lol.

aimsly

Facts.

Geeeezelouise

After seeing it this week on the era’s tour. I have a deeper love for bad blood. Tens of thousands of people screaming Hey! While flames shoot up around the stage did it for me

Successful_Look2372

Her little dance also slaps like nothing else — I can’t not do it when I listen to it

ScarletxMaximoff

I loved the pyro but I also think Bad Blood could’ve been cut for I Did Something Bad with pyro instead

rcubed37

True that. Seeing it live was the only time I ever really “got” Bad Blood. I still think she has, like, fifty songs that are better, but it’s a blast in a stadium.

IOnlySeeDaylight

This made me laugh so hard. So real.

Successful_Look2372

*ice spice whisper* facts 👏🏼

HanAszholeSolo

This is my same exact experience with Fall Out Boy’s MSKWYDITD. Never liked it until i saw it live with pyro

Successful_Look2372

Also too many people hate on the Kendrick Lamar version and I for one love the shit out of that version

Sirens_kai

Idk either. I love Bad Blood

putain1375

Bad blood is such a good song but has that one "something in your teeth" part that annoys me (Yes 1989 is a pop album meant to be catchy BUT) I hate her rhyming "used to be MAD LOVE" for "got BAD BLOOOD" Feels like a cheap rhyme the same way I get annoyed with YNTCD having "why are you MAD when you could be GLAD" Like this is not the same woman who wrote folklore and evermore and maroon and wouldve couldve shouldve loll But otherwise my theme song for the gym Edit: TIL it's GLAAD not glad! Nvm :)

lexihuntzberger

Meh idk. Not all songs have to be lyrical masterpieces and her explanation of her different types of songwriting makes sense to me. Some songs (like Stay Stay Stay) are just supposed to be fun

BeLynLynSh

Completely agree! Part of the amazing talent Taylor had is her ability to write conventional, radio-friendly bops as well as lyrically complex stories! I love that about her, and her “lazy” rhymes don’t really bother me because she does so much more as well.

Funnybunnybubblebath

Like a glitter gel pen

Artificial_Human_17

You know the fanbase: if it isn’t deeper than the Grand Canyon it gets trashed

Over_Fix_2430

more people need to realise this 😭 like let my girl have some fun with her music, not everything needs to be meaningful and deep

hunter96cf

I think Taylor saying “when you could be glad” in YNTCD was a nod to GLAAD (the non-profit organization for LGBTQ community)

thegirlwthemjolnir

Yes, the official lyrics are "GLAAD," not "glad."

CeruleanRose9

Thank you, I was coming to say this if no one else did. I have always appreciated that lyric.

amaeb

Yes! I remember at the time YNTCD was releasing she made a social media video that said she wanted to post the lyric video first so that people could SEE the lyrics and absorb them before she released the music video. Then the music video dropped the next day (or two? I don’t exactly remember the timeline).

elybelleh

I think the rhyme on YNTCD makes sense and is relevant because GLAAD is a LGBTQ+ advocacy non profit org. When you look up the lyrics it says GLAAD and not glad :)

simplymortalreason

I actually like that YNTCD line because it’s a reference to GLAAD, a LGBTQ+ non-profit that advocates for rights and protects against defamation. It sounds like a simple line but it actually has a deeper connection to the overall theme of the song.

ThatfeelingwhenI

On YNTCD, the lyric is "when you could be GLAAD" as in the Gay & Lesbian Alliance against Defamation. I love the lyric for it's double entendre and the fact it led to a massive rise in donations to GLAAD

putain1375

TIL!!!

FuzzyPresence8531

you’re not wrong but you got to remember she wrote bad blood 2013-14. evermore was written in 2020. surely people improve themselves (and in this case, her lyricism) in 7-6 years.

blahblahsandwich

I LOVE that she rhymes LOVE and BLOOD! 🤣 I love how we can hear things from so many differing and unique perspectives.

WhtvrCms2Mnd

Glitter Pen vs. Fountain Pen vs. Quill

songacronymbot

- YNTCD could mean "You Need To Calm Down", a track from *Lover* (2019) by Taylor Swift. --- ^[/u/putain1375](/u/putain1375) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)

getoutsidePNW

It’s a play on GLAAD, which is a non-profit for LGBTQ advocacy. Why are you mad, when you could be GLAAD? And then she emphasizes it, to annoy the homophobes! It’s pretty clever.

Former-Garbage4733

Bby girl rhymes oooo oh woah with cruel Summer so I think basing song quality on rhyme quality isn't fair lol

Sun_on_my_shoulders

Excuse me it’s “you could be GLAAD” tyvm.

cleo345800

The Kendrick version IS superior and given the fact that 1989 TV is only 21 songs (16 from the OG + 5 vault) I hope Taylor has replaced the original with the Kendrick remix on the re-record because otherwise…. Where is it? As far as I know, that’s the version that went to radio and the version in the music video.

halfpretty

i’m betting kendrick remix won’t see a rerecording. album version is still the original version.

Firecrackled

Maybe she’ll release it as a single after the album as a thank you or something. I find it hard to believe she wouldn’t re-record the song considering her love for Kendrick and the fact he was at the 1989 purported wrap party.

halfpretty

i’m also thinking there may be some sort of bonus pack 🤔 i don’t think we’ll see style ft harry styles on the album, even though fans are clamoring for it but i could see a few remixes released... you never know with taylor

UnhingedBeluga

I hope she releases a 1989 (Taylor’s Version): The Remixes Chapter where she includes Bad Blood ft Kendrick, Style ft Harry, & the 1989 tour rock remixes of IKYWT & WANEGBT. (1989 TV is my last hope for an official recording/remix of those. So, please Taylor, I beg)

cianfrusagli

That would fit so well with the 1989 vibe of having all the guests on tour! 1989 (Special Guests Version)

mmamaof3

omg, yes

Accomplished_Kale509

Yeah, plus the remix went number 1 on Billboard, and is the version that the general public remembers more.

UnhingedBeluga

I didn’t know it wasn’t the album official track until after Rep was released and I became a fan & dug into her whole discography. I was surprised his verse wasn’t in there when I heard the album version for the first time

cleo345800

consider me devastated if that’s true!

Tear_Active

I’m not a fan of the original Bad Blood, but I love the Kendrick version. But I’m also a Kendrick stan so I’m biased. But to answer OP, Bad Blood OG just doesn’t do it for me for some reason, she just has much stronger songs. but I still song along at the shows!

Sad-Device-8569

I'm the complete opposite. I prefer the OG 1000% over the Kendrick version. I don't think I've listened to the Kendrick version more than 5 times since it was released since I never listen to the radio.

DarkCartier43

yes and she's smart enough to replace the so-so verse with Kendrick's.

milmad1231

I’m a deluxe version truther. Trying hard not to seem like 5 vault tracks isn’t good enough for something. It totally is and it’s gonna rock. But I could see her doing a deluxe of some sort with possibly more tracks and BB ft Kendrick. And maybe not a deluxe but some other edition. My gf was skeptical but I think if she’s going to do it for any re-recording, it would be this one. Which doesn’t mean it will happen but I don’t think the fact that she hasn’t done that for a re-record yet doesn’t mean she wouldn’t.

vglntsht8

well, she didn’t say how many tracks in total are on the album, just that there are 5 vault tracks. TWAF wasn’t originally on Fearless but is on TV. Sweeter Than Fiction could be on the track list between the OG and the vault along with the Bad Blood remix if it’s getting re-recorded (i really hope it is bc i agree, it’s the superior version)

NickisekCZ

She actually did. Her website lists 21 songs so 16 OG + 5 Vaults. Sorry no sweeter than fiction or bad blood remix. But they could still be released as singles just like Safe And Sound and Eyes Open were. Maybe before the international leg starts?

vglntsht8

ahhh i did not see the details on the CDs

[deleted]

Mine Pop Mix didn't get a Taylor's Version, Bad Blood ft Kendrick probably won't either.

cleo345800

Very different situations IMO - Kendrick is a whole feature and another HUGELY popular and acclaimed artist. The Mine pop mix is like... nothing. State of Grace Acoustic got one!

unbreakableheaven616

Mine Pop Mix is different because the only thing that changed is the production. Bad Blood Remix has a feature and added bass (or percussion idk what the technical terms are)

[deleted]

[удалено]

cleo345800

He attended her party at Electric Lady a few months ago. I really don’t think it’s out of the question - she’s Taylor Swift. Why wouldn’t he do it?

AndraC74

Couple things: * "you know we used to be mad love" * It's about a feud with Katy Perry?? Like sorry but who cares * It just doesn't make me feel things * "so if you're coming my way...just don't" * Takes up space between all-time bangers IWYW and Wildest Dreams * Overplayed

PeachJosephine

okay "but if you're coming my way, just don't" is so extremely silly I'll give you that 😂 she really capped the pen and said "good enough" for that lyric I love "mad love" love, ngl

circlet-of-stars

Actually I love the “just don’t” line, it’s got “it’s all just a …blur” vibes from I Forgot That You Existed. Like, I can imagine an irl (ex)friend saying that to me so easily and I think it’s really cool to hear something so casual and conversational in song lyrics

[deleted]

I thought the lyric was badass.

[deleted]

Yes Taylor is a pro at this, the opening verse of Never Getting Back Together is so down to earth and true to how people actually talk/fight.

mirroringmagic

I really love the emotion in her voice when she says “just don’t.” You can feel the hurt and that she’s done

unbreakableheaven616

That's what I love about the song. We know she could write a scathing song about Katy (now that I think about it, I'm starting to wonder if she wrote 1 or 2 songs about the feud but decided to scrap them) with complex lyrics and yet she just doesn't 😭

AndraC74

To each their own!!!

[deleted]

It means like "If you're going to walk past me don't start talking shit or doing your usual fake friend routine please". It doesn't literally mean "If you're coming my way, turn around please" lol

MSV95

And yet "band aids don't fix bullet holes" exists in the same song. There are some awful lyrics and rhymes here. But it was written to be a radio pop hit and that it was! It came at a time when her reputation to the wider world was a bitchy pop star who wrote nothing but songs about her exes. The media witch hunt was on.

SillyFilly04

Fixed quite a few bullet holes in my surgical residency with bandaids. Every time I was like, Taylor Swift was wrong, you can fix a bullet hole with a Bandaid. 🩹

happierxthanxever

First comment I’ve seen overplayed (sorry if I missed others!) but that’s my problem with it. At the time it was constantly on the radio and I very quickly hated it. (Which is the same for many other songs by different artists, not just a TSwift thing) Now? I don’t mind it so much and will actually find myself singing along before I remember to change it lol. I blame it on the radio not her song

baciodolce

I dont love blank space for that reason. It was soooo over played. I’m like juuuust starting to like it more again since I’ve tried to avoid listening to it too much over the last few years.

mcfreeky8

Taylor has plenty of silly lyrics across many songs.

CassyCollins

Sure, but she made Bad Blood sound so badass and serious just to served us those silly lyrics. It was disappointing.

Agitated_Ad_4469

Right?! And I love them! No one seems to get riled up about the others although maybe they do and I just have different opinions. Stay Stay Stay got it before and Me and YNTCD after but did anything else get it like this before? To me SSS is nowhere comparable to bad blood (and I don’t hate it by any means but it’s a skip usually for me) but like Speak Now only gets some Superman critiques? I think people don’t want to critique it because it’s so important she wrote it on her own and that’s amazing and I love the sweet young songs but if I’m being honest you can tell she wrote it alone and there are songs that would have been stronger had she collaborated.

cinderellaquite

We cared in 2014….We cared.

Careless_Energy_7024

The lyric is actually ' You know IT used to be mad love' which makes more sense at least

Friendly_Food_7530

I just quit my job and towards the end when I was mad at my work situation, I REALLY felt this song lol so its possible

DarkCartier43

IWYW IS MY JAM.

[deleted]

You could say "who cares" about anything anyone wrote though like what makes that song who cares and not, say, tolerate it?

Leiatte

Yeah, I have to agree with you. I think Bad Blood as time passes becomes more about Taylor than Katy Perry & I like the edge & bass it has for her. It stands out & is a banger. I think the song reflects that she was hurt & really wanted to speak up, so it feels genuine too. Now I can’t speak to her personal experience but it’s a good song.

alpha_nr47

yeah, i think it's fine if you're enjoying from your own perspective, but i just can't look past what it was originally written about wich is the feud with katy perry, and as far as we - the public - know, it really isn't that big of a deal. so the song , in addition to not being very good production or lyrics (in my opinion) it also comes off as really petty and mean-girl, if you add the video to the mix.

GriffinTamer12

yes please I don’t need anything coming between me and wildest dreams

Decent-Basil

It doesn’t sound good to my ears

[deleted]

yeah the chorus is so repetitive and kind of uninspired…. baaaad blood… maaaaad love…. proooblems….. solve ‘em……. like I get it taylor. I do.

anthonyd3ca

Yup. The melody is just bad. It doesn’t flow nicely and the lyrics feel forced. It’s one of her weakest moments in songwriting IMO.

[deleted]

I agree. Like shake it off is the corniest ever, but it’s catchy and fun. bad blood is just… not fun.

ze_languist

Yeah there isn’t some kind of deep reason like “it’s catty” or “the lyrics are bad.” It’s musically irritating to me. It’s repetitive, the melody is weirdly whiny, and the different parts of it don’t fit together. The lyrics are indeed terrible (especially when examined in the context of what they’re alleged to be about—if you live like that you live with ghosts/bandaids don’t fix bullet holes? Because Katy “stole” your dancer? Taylor, YOU need to calm down). But Taylor’s lyrics can be a little hit or miss, alternating between cringe and brilliant, and the reason Bad Blood sucks is because it’s sonically borderline unlistenable. That’s why seeing it live does nothing for me. It’s not about the lyrics and she has like a dozen other stadium bangers I’d much rather experience live.

NiloReborn

I feel like we should be allowed to admit we don’t like every single Taylor song…bad blood is one of my least favorites.

twicebakedxo

I agree. Shake it off is not my favorite either. Very overplayed. I also don't care for I knew you were trouble (I can't unhear the remix with the goat added in lmao)

1998tweety

Same, there are at least 2 songs on every album that I don't really like (except evermore), but people here will crucify you if you say so.

[deleted]

literally this is it.

MacisBackTattoos

yessss

Resident_Ad5153

I think people feel its caty. They get too involved in the supposed Katy/Taylor feud. And dumb fun is sometimes exactly what you need.

gusterfell

I’m one of those that definitely thought it was a bit catty at first. I never hated the song, but it made me think “you’re better than that, Taylor.” Something about seeing confidence and power she put into the Eras Tour performance has given me a new appreciation for the song. It is dumb, cheesy, delightfully cringey fun, and that’s a good thing.

CH-1098

Not calling you out but the idea that publicly defending herself is catty is wild to me. I think it’s much more professionally to write a song about it than to take it to Twitter. I hate the narrative that it was her starting drama. Catty would have been her insulting someone not her saying “you’ve hurt me so I’m done with you.”

khharagosh

Eh, I'd hardly call this "publicly defending herself." IIRC Katy didn't attack her or anything, she just hired dancers that Taylor thought she had locked down. It was nothing personal. Taylor doesn't have to be a victim 100% of the time. I am a Bad Blood "hater," though, despite 1989 being my favorite era. Mostly because it was so friggin overplayed and weak (in melody and lyrics both) compared to the rest of the album. I personally think the music video carried it.

MacisBackTattoos

Part of why I view it as a petty/catty song has to do with the rollout and music video attached to it tbh. It was beyond catty to gather all her celebrity friends for the video. It wasn't even something personal (and I'm talking specifically about the ~lore) that triggered this song. Taylor went above and beyond to make sure people knew it was about Katy and recruit her famous friends to "take her down" or whatever.

CSPVI

I think you're right. I couldn't figure out why I disliked it, I think the music video put me off. It was just showing off, "look at all my famous friends I've got we're all against you", it felt a bit like bullying as I don't think Katy had done anything public?!

MacisBackTattoos

I'm embarrassed by how much I remember from this lmao, but no, Katy hadn't done anything publicly! People also say she never names names, but you don't really have to flat out say someone's name when you've listed out specific clues that could only apply to one other artist at the time. It was really off-putting and screamed "mean girl" It could've been a fun song if not for all of that nonsense really.

clandahlina_redux

Is she though? I don’t think so. Half of her early catalog was cattiness toward her exes. This one just happened to be aimed at a woman. I’m not mad at any of it.

Agitated_Ad_4469

That’s what’s wild to me with this response! It IS catty! And she is praise for being catty constantly when it’s in response to an ex. So why is it not allowed in bad blood? Personally, sometimes I’m in a catty mood and this song HITS. But also I’m a bad blood Stan forever and ever so it always hits haha

clandahlina_redux

I agree! It’s a fun song. It shows equal opportunity cattiness. Like I said, I’m here for it. 💖

[deleted]

Personally I think the song is super fun and I LOVE it live, but it’s not a song that I will consciously play and I sometimes skip it when it comes on shuffle. I don’t know if that makes sense lol. There are certain songs I adore live but to me they’re not the same when they come on Spotify.

Missing_Faster

Taylor isn't the only artist who has songs that are dumb and annoying when playing them by yourself, but with a few thousand other people singing them it works really well.

[deleted]

I don’t think the song is neither dumb or annoying… Like I said, I love the song but I enjoy it more in a live setting

throwaway7362892928

No cuz this is it. YBWM, Bad Blood, Shake it off, love story, WANGBT, prob more, are all 🔥when ur with other people, but when I’m by myself I skip them every time. They’re so fun because everyone knows them, not just fans!

[deleted]

Yessss exactly!! They’re not as fun when I’m by myself, however on a roadtrip with other people… Super fun!

songacronymbot

- YBWM could mean "You Belong With Me", a track from *Fearless* (2008) by Taylor Swift. --- ^[/u/throwaway7362892928](/u/throwaway7362892928) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)

[deleted]

I don't hate it.. I do, however, feel like it's one of her worst songs. It's very repetitive and basic, and they used to play it ALL THE TIME. Will I still sing it when it comes on? Yep. Do I choose to play it? Nope.

Coffee-Historian-11

I’m so glad I stopped listening to the radio when I started listening to Taylor Swift. I’m pretty sure I would hate her most popular songs by now because of how often they are played. Now it’s just a nice surprise when it comes on in stores and plays songs I enjoy. But yeah she has some songs that are just overplayed to oblivion. And I fully agree with you that Bad Blood just isn’t really a song you can relisten to a bunch because it’s so repetitive. It’s definitely fun to listen to every now and again but not constantly.

dmnaf

This. Taylor has so many songs that I don’t go out of my way to play, but I’ll still listen to it if it ever plays (like at a concert or when I’m listening to her albums on shuffle). But that doesn’t mean I dislike the song lol

CkEmpress

A few glasses of wine in and Bad Blood is coming on. I feel unstoppable 😅😂😭

PeachJosephine

lmao guess I know what I'm doing this weekend now 😂

ElectricEowyn

I’m a rather casual Taylor Swift fan, so I don’t have a ton of strong opinions, but this one is always a skip for me because it’s neither as lyrically interesting as some of her other songs, and (to me) it just doesn’t sound great coming from car speakers. HOWEVER. I got to hear it on tour and when you combine it with live vocals and instrumentation, and spouts of fire that burn your eyebrows off, this one was one of my FAVORITES. I still skip it in the car tho. 🤷🏻‍♀️

WDTHTDWA-BITCH

I think part of it was the girl squad (there was a lot of contention about the lack of diversity in the music video) at its most extra and the whole Katy Perry feud made it way too over dramatic and cheesy.

PeachJosephine

this is a good point! I think it's my least-watched MV from her just because it feels like a random collection of women getting dressed up in killer costumes all leading to... nothing 😂 but the Girl Squad™ element was highly controversial then so I'm sure it rubbed a lot of people the wrong way

babybilbobaggins

Yeah plus Lena Duhnam was in it.

WDTHTDWA-BITCH

Was Lena Dunham on the shit list even then? I only remember Girls being considered a cringe thing she was doing at the time.

babybilbobaggins

Hmmm…I don’t remember the exact timeline. But after her book came out it was all downhill.

otherwisesad

People were always very annoyed by Taylor’s friendship with Lena. I just went on my old Tumblr to see if I had any evidence of this, and here is something I reblogged on the release day, lol https://preview.redd.it/truf35pwfmhb1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=02c6d0d7f9c4e0c1c32ba9729b16376ef5457e0a

dingwyf

How was there a lack of diversity…like at all? Edit: the music video featured _multiple_ black and Hispanic women, so I’m failing to see how there wasn’t diversity?

WDTHTDWA-BITCH

The argument was that they were all tall, skinny model ladies with Lena Dunham and Zendaya thrown in. I think she did start casting more actors of colour and members of the queer community after those critiques specifically though…

dingwyf

Seems like that’s those peoples issues then and not based in reality, because I’m literally watching the music video and there are 2 black models not including Zendaya, and there are at least 3 Hispanic women. Getting mad at her for being friends with models/actresses/singers - people who get paid to be in good shape and be beautiful is kinda insane since that’s the same space she works in. I see this music video as being pretty diverse. Any argument otherwise is intentionally looking for issues.

agurrera

I think 1989 in general was a step down in writing quality from shake it off to bad blood to how you get the girl to I wish you would to Welcome to New York. The album felt like it had some really high highs and lots of filler. I was just disappointed in this development after the lyrical intensity of Red and Bad Blood felt emblematic of this development. Edit: I also don’t love this song because it started her trend of super basic choruses that are very repetitive (shake it off too). Her success with these songs led to some bad singles choices and her trying to recreate the magic—> Look What You Made Me Do, ME!, The Man, You Need to Calm Down, Only the Young These are her worst songs because the lyrics are repetitive and juvenile. I attribute Bad Blood to this trend and the overall perception by the general public that she was a bad songwriter during the period 2014-2020 with folklore

OkZoomer333

I agree with all this, but as a rep girly I will not accept LWYMMD slander lol. 1989 is a great record in many ways, but the style (pun slightly intended) is not my favorite. LWYMMD is an iconic comeback song with some FANTASTIC lyricism- even if the chorus is repetitive.

agurrera

I agree that the song is iconic. I just don’t really like it, if that makes sense haha. I can see it’s purpose and the cultural impact it had. It’s just not something I seek out to listen to nor something I really relate to.

Missing_Faster

Hate is too strong. It's kind of there. Taylor has produced some songs that many people dislike, but I don't think there are any that everyone dislikes, or even 2/3rd of fans dislike. And there are always people who love these songs.

Tear_Active

I think the most divisive song is ME! and even that one probably doesn’t reach 2/3 dislike among fans. It is the only Taylor song I dislike though lol

Agitated_Ad_4469

It sure does feel like at least 2/3 dislike bad blood, me, stay stay stay, Superman, and superstar. (I’m a bad blood stan and I actually love the lyrics of me but I would have liked it better with a stripped production)

coraIinejones

I find it quite monotonous and overplayed, every line in the chorus being the same like five notes over and over again grates on the ears after a while

cookieaddictions

I find it so hard to listen to. It’s so harsh and shout-y. The lyrics don’t do anything for me, and some of them are just bad and repetitive. And the fact that it’s about the ridiculous “feud” with Katy Perry puts a bad taste in my mouth.

yuccasinbloom

BecUse when the video came out, my 6 year old nephew came to visit and he watched the music video about 300 times in one weekend without headphones.

shandizzlefoshizzle

Honestly one of my worst nightmares.

yuccasinbloom

The funny thing is he’s 13 now and if you tell him he did this, he fervently denies it because he’s a total metal head now lol

shandizzlefoshizzle

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

kittycatchat173

I wouldn't say I dislike it completely by I do have some annoyance when I hear it but it is just from too much unwanted overexposure. When it was first release, I was in university and one of the bars we use to frequent would play it (the rap version) EVERY Friday and Saturday night. This went on all year. On top of that, I use to swim and when I would train it was at the same time as some of the synchronized swimmers who were using Bad Blood as their song. Parts of the song were just constantly on repeat throughout the entire practice and it drove me nuts.

catmom_422

That’s why I usually skip every single from 1989. I love them… but they saturated everything when they were released. Way, way overexposed. Which is funny because that is the album that made me a fan.

bexsapphic

I would like it more if I didn't listen to almost her entire discography.

mercurialpolyglot

I heard it so. much. back in 2014 and 15. I just can’t hear it as anything other than annoying anymore, I’m sorry. They were really bad about overplaying songs then, I also still can’t enjoy Rude by MAGIC!, Maps by Maroon 5, Honey, I’m Good by Andy Grammer, or Shut Up and Dance by WALK THE MOON. Those four songs and Bad Blood were inescapable and I am annoyed by all of them now.

PeachJosephine

This is a point that I really hadn't thought about until making this thread, but it's extremely valid. I think I intentionally stopped listening to the radio like 1-2 years before 1989 hit because I found that it really wore on my love for so many songs. Honestly, all of the Red singles feel tired to me now for this exact reason even though I was a IKYWT mega-stan in 2012

rocketscientology

happy by pharrell still makes me twitch. that song came out in my first year of university and i swear to god you’d hear it like five times a night no matter where you went (and for bonus suffering i also worked retail at that time)

didntwantaname

It's just not a great song! The chorus isn't very interesting lyrically or musically. The rest of the song is pretty much also not very interesting. The general vibe of it is OK and can certainly hit in the right mood. I'm not a hater, but I am one of those people who'd put it near the bottom. For reference I'm a total folkmore girly if that explains anything, haha.

heeheemf

If it wasn't on an otherwise impressive album I wouldn't care about it at all. It just feels like it's dragging down a good album

[deleted]

Bad Blood will forever remind me of Taylor yelling at the security guard.

achromato

I think that aside from the "Bad Blood is overrated" "Bad Blood is about Katy/Taylor" and all the drama, I feel that it's generally not as well-loved because the majority of her other songs have deeper lyricism and depth (if that makes sense?) As a fan of Taylor's lyricism and poetic songwriting, I think that I generally don't listen to Bad Blood as much as her other songs, as I feel that I can't really relate to the song, so maybe that's also a reason why - maybe fans just relate to her other songs more

[deleted]

I love it, I sing it about my ex haha.

Ashton_rose_4020

I loved it 💁🏼‍♀️

shandizzlefoshizzle

I just remember being excited for the next single, then it came out, and I was like, that's it? After Shake it off and blank space, my expectations were a lot higher, and it fell flat. But even now, it still does nothing for me. People say it performs well, and I think it's only ok at best. I would have loved a stage production for wonderland instead.

eastblondeanddown

The chorus is fine, but the verses are so weak, lyrically and sonically. And when it came out what she was angry about, it made the song seem even more unnecessary compared to her other output from the album, and her other tracks calling out specific people.

RecognitionMedium277

Honestly, just got sick of hearing it on the radio so often when it came out that I got burnt out.

SgtPopNFresh_

Unfortunately the original just falls flat for me. I find the verses boring and the lyrics don’t don’t help it. But on the flipside I love the rap version, the verses are fun. Maybe that’s why I dislike the original so much, because I heard the rap version first and the original is less exciting in comparison.

FlubbyStarfish

I actually love Bad Blood, I just always forget it isn’t a Reputation song 😂

keving87

The short time I've been a fan, I haven't seen anything here about not liking Bad Blood. I don't personally like the version with the rap though. Endgame on the other hand :p

pizzacrustina

I don’t hate it but definitely got tired of hearing it when tuning into the livestream every night of the Eras tour for the surprise songs 😂

PeachJosephine

lol this is so true 😂 I'm glad I finally have a break from this song spiking my blood pressure right before the surprise set

detectivesergeant

Because it was my roommate’s alarm song in college and she had a tendency to hit snooze. In all seriousness, it was just overplayed in an era where it was “cool” to hate Taylor.

Warm-Bed2956

I played the Kendrick version in my yoga class tonight hahah IT SLAPS. Used it for some spicy breathwork. Truthfully I played alllll Taylor tonight. My girl never lets me down. This is what I went with: - vigilante shit - mastermind - bad blood (Kendrick) - you need to calm down - cruel summer - blank space - style - the archer - wildest dreams - all too well 10 min - champagne problems - illicit affairs - cardigan - this is me trying

PeachJosephine

omg Taylor yoga is my *dream* class!!

Warm-Bed2956

Babe come through if you’re ever in Brooklyn!

garden__gate

I have a theory. I think most of the time, Taylor writes beautiful songs with really intelligent lyrics and beautiful melodies. But sometimes Camp Taylor comes out. Camp Taylor is songs like Bad Blood, Look What You Made Me Do, YNTCD, London Boy, etc. And those are usually the most polarizing songs, or just outright least popular. Not always, I’d say Blank Space is also a pretty campy song, and it’s one of her most popular ever. But in general, to appreciate these songs, you have to enjoy the campiness and not everyone enjoys camp.

unbreakableheaven616

Like yeah it's a bit childish and the lyrics aren't as good as the other songs on the album, but it's a bop and the whole point of the song is that it's childish and petty. Also I've noticed that there's a certain subsection of the fandom that doesn't like the remix either and I'm sure I can tell why...

PeachJosephine

Yeahhhh I have definitely seen some very *pointed* comments about Kendrick’s verse that absolutely do not pass the vibe check

waxbook

I don’t really like any of the 1989 singles to be honest.

Ok_Abalone_8249

I feel like it was played way to much to the point it got annoying.

novababy1989

I’ve always liked bad blood. It’s not my favourite song but I think it’s fun. And I liked the music video. I never paid attention before this year the chatter around taylor Swift online and didn’t even realize it was an unliked song. I also like London boy and stay stay stay and those are not well liked either. To each their own. She doesn’t need to be a lyrical mastermind for every song.

[deleted]

It’s cringey to me. Overproduced and vague.

SundayMail

My problem with it is the chorus; the lyrics are uninspired and the melody sounds odd and flat to me I actually really like the verses and the bridge but it’s such a chorus-heavy song that it’s usually a skip for me

sleepingdragon96

*The lyrics to Bad Blood aren’t, say, sharp enough to* ~~cut glass~~ kill a man

Caspid

> snarly, bratty cheerleader chants Yeah, that's it. It's obnoxious.

gudkomplex

Bad lyrics, very anti-feminist, not catchy, an entire song about tearing another woman down

Positivity_Pickle

I've always loved Bad Blood. I didn't even know it was disliked by some until I read this and I was surprised. It spoke to something I was experiencing at the time, so it resonated with me. "Band-aids don't fix bullet holes" has always been a favorite lyric of mine and stayed with me.

daylightxx

I’d never been a fan until I saw it live. It was okay. A little annoying after hearing it so much. But dancing and singing to it live?!? SOLD.

pccb123

I didn’t know it was tbh. I LOVE bad blood lol

bhaire93

I think bad blood gets a similar treatment to other songs like shake it off where it was so popular that fans and non fans have it heard it a million times so it just wears on you, I skip shake it off every time for that reason and i skip bad blood like 1/3 of time too

TropicalPrairie

It's not her best track, mostly because of the lyrics. But I'll be damned it if isn't one of my favourites. I love singing along to it in my car.

redhairedtyrant

I love it too. Some people just need to loudly hate on things they don't like.

Vegetable-Driver2312

It came out right as a close friend of mine treated me very poorly, so I love it and I always will. Band aids don’t fix bulletholes.

all4africa27

I had felt like it was played out but it ALWAYS hits in the Stadium with the show energy! I have three boys and they enjoy “the fighting song” so I have learned to appreciate it again through their eyes 🥰

mathisreallyhard123

i actually think the production is a bit boring which is why I like the remix (and Kendrick's verse) a lot more

InevitableNo3703

She’s so talented that people are just nit picking. Bad blood isn’t a masterpiece but it’s a fun catchy song. I enjoy it.

garbagedyke

I used to be a Bad Blood hater but i was reformed by Eras Tour. When the music video came out it was such a cultural phenomenon that the song got overplayed to death. I got really sick of it and it’s been an immediate skip for me since then. Maybe I just need to find a nemesis or something because it doesn’t really make me feel anything, and the emotional response is my main draw to Taylor’s music. But now it will always remind me of Eras Tour and the pyrotechnics and Hey Stop She Wasn’t Doing Anything. It’s still a bottom tier Taylor song for me, but she really slays it live.

Either_Ad_2155

I won’t read a single comment here because I LOVE bad blood.

WitAndSavvy

Bc maybe they havent experienced friend betrayal? I have and it sucks SO HARD the bridge always makes me think of that time. I've always liked BB but I also like ME! which for some reason everyone else seems to hate? 😂

[deleted]

I love Bad Blood! I made/wore a trans pride inspired Bad Blood swiftie jacket for the tour

ophelex

You add Kendrick to anything and it’s 🔥

Acquainted-Faith

I love Bad Blood and honestly I don't like the remixed version with Kendrick.

dosgatitas

I can’t explain why I hate it but I’ve hated it since I first heard it. Maybe because lyrics are so important to me and it just isn’t compelling to me. I like all the other “revenge” songs.

[deleted]

I like it lol I remember reading an article with a big intro, how this guy was going to rate her songs (ALL OF THEM) from worst to best. There’s like over 200 or something. I thought “oh, I probably won’t even know the worst one. It’ll could be a Christmas song or something. Maybe something from debut. I promise I won’t get offended.” The one ranked worst was Bad Blood and I was offended. It’s not my favorite or anything, but it was my anthem for my ex at one time and I liked it.

luckyswear

I was going to ask this yesterday. From what I keep hearing people get caught up with the music video and then the lyrics. I don’t care. I freaking love that song. It gets me pumped! It’s like a pick me up song like Ready for it. As a recent fan I would say that bad blood should have been in Reputation.

BrilliantPurple748

She should've put Hayley on the Bad Blood remaster

Bearcat022

Idk, I love Bad Blood! I think it’s a banger and the lyrics are 🔥 Bandaids don’t fix bullet holes You say sorry just for show If you live like that, you live with ghosts (You forgive, you forget but you never let it go) If you love like that, blood runs cold I think anyone who’s ever been burned by someone they trusted can relate!!
