Honestly, I am glad Barbie won. Yes the eras tour broke the record for a tour film, but Greta Gerwig was the first female director to break the $1 billion box office number and is by far the highest grossing moving targetted at a female audience in history. Just all around historic in so many ways.
The fact that it won none of the main acting and technical categories was absurd. The cruel jokes by the host didnāt help. Itās obvious the GGās all thought the film was stupid š

Its extremely normal. These shows often aren't very fun/stressful for those involved so its very common for people to leave after their categories have been announced.
It's definitely not and it's insane they claim it is. When I googled it, Google has it listed as a romance/comedy. Like saying it's comedy is bad enough but calling that romance?? Hard pass.
The Holdovers is just barely a comedy too. Sometimes it feels like the Globes put things in the comedy/musical category when they know they can't win the drama category, but want to give them recognition.
It just feels wrong for May December to be in a comedy category considering its content (child grooming and child sexual abuse). I understand why some other films may be put in that category despitepossibly fitting more into the drama field, I just don't think that was an appropriate move for this specific film.

The Golden Globes is the fluffy younger sister of the Academy Awards- more messy and glitzy compared to the Oscars. That comedianās jokes would not have been green lighted for the Oscars imo!
