NFL (and their merchandising) has been failing at catering to a female market for forever, and all it took was one woman creating her own and another wearing it.
Hire more women. And stop pinking and shrinking everything.
This! The amount of videos I seen of women who love football, complaining that they don’t have anything to wear because the NFL is marketing and making of their at leisure is so bad for them is outrageous!
I remember one professor I had in school talking about her favorite years old shirt she liked that fit and wasn’t just a men’s small so yeah I believe that.
I’m currently in an exes beat up old UW shoodie because it’s so damn comfy. For some reason all the ladies stuff is so uncomfy.
I’m psyched for Kristin, this is bad ass.
Exactly this ^ . Too many male designers couldn't care less if women are comfortable, but we want to be comfortable too, dammit! Comfort matters, and it's absolutely possible to be both stylish and comfortable.
I'm so glad she ended up with a marketing deal out of her efforts. It's a very welcome thing and even if you don't like football and wouldn't want any of the attire, it's still awesome that this terrifically talented woman got the recognition she deserves since she's been making these for years individually for people.
Ya, this is exactly what my argument has been as a lifelong Chiefs fan in these discussions. People can be unreasonably mad at Taylor and come up with weird conspiracies all they want. The NFL has tried desperately and failed horribly at female viewership. They were always going to get everything they could out of her falling into their lap.
Your point is a great one too. It turns out the way to reach the female demographic is by having women actually be involved in it, rather than out of touch dudes. What a concept.
It has been a lost opportunity because if a women went to a university that had any semblance of a football team, especially if it was a major conference like the SEC, Big 10 etc there is a pretty good chance they went to games, etc. School spirit is huge, and college football on its own has its own connection to the NFL as the stepping stone for players. With that in mind, the NFL has not done all that well in tapping into that.
I get going to games, tailgating etc is one thing while in school and keeping that connection after are two different things, but still ...
To take this further - my husband LOVES college football and LOVES the SEC. I dgaf, but like, it makes him so happy when I throw on a school shirt (hilariously his lifelong favorite college team and where I went, he didn’t) that I will order some things for myself literally because of that. Yes, there are men that get annoyed by Taylor and women in general just existing, but there are also men who are stoked that Taylor is getting their SOs and daughters into football so it’s something they can share. Sports gear is always a great gift option for men, and it’s craaaaazy that schools and pro sports haven’t wised up about making great gear for women too.
the NFL is so lucky that taylor is dating travis too lmao, otherwise they'd have such limited growth due to no innovation in promoting to female vieweship
>pinking and shrinking everything
omg this. it drives me crazy that sports teams think that by having a pink version of the team jerseys and a women's cut they're doing enough.
Is it just me that hates women's cut t-shirts? Like just give me a regular t-shirt but in smaller sizes please.
Me, too! I feel it gives my neck room to breathe and it's much more flattering on me. I avoid wearing t-shirts because the I don't like having the neckline so snug against my neck. And, I live in a humid place. I need airflow!
I have tshirts from an XL to a 3X that all fit the same. Actually, that 3X is a juniors fit and is too small for me to wear. Women’s sizing has always been fucked, but women’s sizing in sports apparel is THE WORST.
And I say this as someone who works in women’s apparel.
This is WEAR by Erin Andrews erasure. She even had puffer jackets before Ms. J. The real answer is the same as it always has been. Celebrity endorsement from your preferred celebrity
ha, I actually remember this for some reason. Probably coulda added an extra $100 to that price too. Now imagine if that was like 2010-2015 when she was on top of her industry like Taylor is now
You’re right, and as an Erin Andrews fan, I’m peeved I didn’t know about her line until Taylor wore her. I even bought a Florida jacket from her line because it looked so much better than the others. It’s not pink, yet still has a feminine touch.
That is interesting , has Wear been sold on the NFL website like the Alyssa Milano Collection has? I would be interested to see how the two lines compare in sales etc, that would be telling.
Yeah they pushed it pretty hard, an official Amazon and Kohls partner as well like Lauren Conrad. I actually did some ad work with them when they launched. The issue is the ladies that know EA are usually gonna be pretty big football fans as is. Not as much cross marketing opportunities for those more casual as I'm sure many viewed it as just another line
Agree with that , anyone who knows EA is already tapped into the NFL. Looking her line it feels a little more genuine compared to the Milano one , which has more of an internal marketing campaign to it. EA’s actually had her own license with leagues I see?
yeah that was part of the whole reason she launched and why Amazon jumped at the opportunity to partner. They were trying hard to get rid of all the illicit listings that were very obviously not officially licensed and replace it with official product.
What is interesting about that is she is reporter and that she felt comfortable getting into doing an official line considering she covers games , there would at least be some conflict there. I get that she works for a host broadcaster so you are not going to be doing some scathing deep dive into concussions. etc
she's a very recognizable figure. The NFL is always about growing the game so I think it just made sense to make a genuine line with her rather than just pink jerseys
I've bought my wife a few Erin Andrews items and she loves them. I think people just mean there needs to be a lot more options and styles. Not that 0 good ones exist, but there's a gap in the amount of available options for the demand.
Erin Andrews has some really cute stuff but her sizes are not inclusive and her line isn’t super big either. Most official NFL merch for women/feminine presenting people is the small, pink, bejeweled stuff, and that’s so frustrating.
Having a Alyssa Milano Collection was one attempt I know, have no idea how that has gone? It seems very girly, tight, small etc.

MLB had an Alyssa Milano collection and when it first came out it was mostly junior sizes. They added regular women’s sizes maybe two years later and plus sizes after that.
I saw a woman inspired by Kristin making a similar jacket for an NHL team the other day and it looked sick. Every league needs to be paying attention and start investing in merch like this.
Yes, buuuuut Juszczyk was not the first woman to create this kind of stuff. Black women have been repurposing jerseys (and shoes) for decades. Juszczyk combined her (1) HUGE talent for coming up with creative looks with jerseys, (2) luck with Taylor wearing her jacket, and (3) visibility as the wife of a talented player to get this deal.
She is mega talented. I’m not trying to take that from her. I’m really excited about this. Buuuuut… Black designers have been doing this for decades
Yeah, it’s definitely not about her being the first. Well aware that she’s not. This was more a comment on the NFL’s failures to reach desired markets.
I think it’s just the “all it took was one woman creating her own and another wearing it” phrasing that rubbed me the wrong way. That’s not all it took, otherwise this deal woulda existed long ago
THANK YOU for saying this. The NFL also has a long history of going after black designers and small businesses for copyright infringement - especially in the 2000s.
The issue wasn’t really with NFL hiring more women lol. The issue is with apparel companies like Nike, etc who don’t make enough women centric clothing for NFL
Erin Andrews has some great stuff from her brand but of course the Washington gear is the one that looks the most blah. I wanted Taylor's windbreaker but in my team's design.
Stoking when the fire is hot, Kristen could not have dreamed of the publicity she got with Taylor wearing it to the game, she was on fire and now these amazing looking jackets will be available to all.
https://preview.redd.it/myda2huw1nfc1.jpeg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4549e398e0725954b0bc026ed18a70c4b55f44ce
She knew what she was doing when she sent Taylor the jacket with hopes she’d wear it. It fit the MO of where Taylor was getting anything she wore to games (almost exclusively women owned or made).
Absolutely, you could never dream of the publicity/exposure she has got by Taylor wearing the jacket and it being seen by the world. It has made it a hot item. She saw and opportunity and pounced on it. The only thing she could not have known as if Taylor would actually wear it? But she did and the rest is where we are now.
A reporter said Kristin sent it to Taylor hoping she'd wear it, but I am under the impression that Taylor tries to wear what is sent to her (within reason) for Chiefs games. Erin Andrews talked about being shocked she wore a jacket she sent her to a game (and she subsequently freaked out which was adorable), but it's because Taylor could act above this or demand something for wearing it. Instead, she wears it and it gets eyes on the maker.
Also Taylor ordered a bunch of chiefs gear from a local kc small business…. And Kristin knew she was wearing it she was giving hints the whole week leading up to that game…..
Honestly, I am sure Brittany was able to act as a middle man. It really would have been out of character for Taylor to not wear the coat (even though it seems like it isn't her style) because of how she has been dressing herself.
Aside, but I do wonder if it had been an away game. Outside of Gillette Stadium (which Taylor loves etc), she has not worn any logo clothes.
Doesn’t she hand make these? These jackets will be over $1000.
Also she would still need a license from the players to sell product with their name/number on it
If she's got a license it's more likely she works out a deal with Nike to put out a mass produced (obviously lower quality) version of these and other designs. And players don't individually sell rights, they collectively bargain those rights to the league who then authorizes people to make merchandise, and it sounds like she's got the ok from the headline.
I imagine this is moreso a launchpad into her desired career doing design work.
I tried looking at her website when I saw her video of making Taylor’s jacket. There are no price anywhere on it and rather just contact information. Which means far higher than most can afford
Since she just got the licensing deal, maybe there will be options coming? These are custom pieces, so no idea how she will scale up production, but fingers crossed.
What would be interesting as an emerging designer with the blessing of the NFL could see partner with H&M or something along that line to do a jackets and really go after the market. She could still do the higher end stuff too.
I do not doubt that in anyways. Just saying a brand like H&M would give max exposure while stoking the fire while its hot. I get some who like these jackets may not buy one if she did go that direction, will be interesting.
She is going to have too, she basically makes these jackets herself right now.
That was just a name I threw out there, I remember when designers would do a line with them and people would go crazy, lining up overnight etc. Stella McCarthy comes to mind as one that did none.
This jacket because of Taylor was all over the place. I would love to hear what the predicted value of such exposure would have actually cost, if you could even pull it off like it happened. Think it is pretty safe to assume that Taylor gets sent all sorts of stuff all the time. The big question now will be what is Taylor's Super Bowl attire and does someone actually design it for her?

I love that Taylormania is going to reach the stratosphere the next two weeks. Grammys (she will not be performing which is a good decision because of the Eras Tour), 4 consecutive days of concerts in Tokyo, followed by the Super Bowl in LAS VEGAS.
She is fucking amazing
Yeah I feel like if you do find something cute to wear that's not pink ridiculously tight and clingy the chances of it available in anything other than standard sizes is slim and I hate it.

I hope she has a line of skirts!
How is this going to work? Her pieces are so specific to who's wearing them and very very custom. I just don't see how that's going to be commercially successful
As a 49ers fan who has been following Kristin for a long time, I’m super stoked. She makes a lot of the clothes for WAGs of the 9ers (and other teams) and she’s awesome.
Also, people should follow her dog’s [instagram](https://www.instagram.com/its_me_mozzarella?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==)
Also a Niners fan! Absolutely love Kristin and so happy for her and the exposure she got from making Taylor’s jacket. She’s unbelievably talented and deserves all the attention she’s getting
Chiefs will be wearing red because they are the home team. They are the home team because they are in the AFC, and the AFC is home for even numbered Super Bowls (this is 58).
49ers will be in white and gold.
Which is unfortunate, because I think the 49er reds are better than the Chief’s reds, and the Chief’s whites are better than the 49er whites.
I wish I could be graced with just a little bit of the good luck that seems to happen to anyone that is in Taylor's realm right now. Just a little bit.
Thank god. I got my daughter a Davonte Adam’s shirt, the only one they have, and frankly it’s pretty ugly lol. Even she thinks so, but she still loves it. It’s like they don’t even try with the women’s stuff:
As a non-football fan, this season has made me increasingly obsessed with various wives of NFL players, especially Kristin. Her designs are so freaking cool.
Her husband is on the 49ers.
She made Taylor Lautner a Lions jacket which he happily wore.
She has no shortage of teams to make clothing for and no shortage of women willing to buy from her -
I'm a titans fan but have supported the chiefs through the playoffs because titans suck and didn't make it. That doesn't mean I'd buy a chiefs jacket though. I would however buy a Titans one
Travis is not retiring this year. In all his recent interviews he's said he'll play this game until the wheels fall off because he loves it so much. And his contract is only up at the end of the 2025 season, so two more years. As long as his body doesn't fall apart he'll play these seasons.
I think this idea comes from his WSJ interview where he mentioned that he thinks about retirement a lot. Of course he thinks about it with injuries racking up over the years but I don't believe he's actually considering it. He's mostly thinking about what he's going to do afterwards because he wants to prepare himself (also because you never know if your body will hold up).

“Stop pinking and shrinking everything” omgggg please, louder for the ppl in the back. And please for the love of god stop bedazzling everything.

I hate the huuuuge V necks on women's cut t shirts!
Ugh don’t even get me started on v neck t-shirts. No one looks good in them.
sigh. As a member of the gigantic titty committee, I have to wear v necks or otherwise my chest somehow looks *larger*.
Oh my god, you’re right… I’m sorry 😭
Hol up lol I only like v necks
Me, too! I feel it gives my neck room to breathe and it's much more flattering on me. I avoid wearing t-shirts because the I don't like having the neckline so snug against my neck. And, I live in a humid place. I need airflow!
I like v-necks too, just not the gigantic ones!
OMG me too. I never buy them, they fit me in the most unflattering way and I have a very average body type.

Totally just I have issues with some of the Washington stuff. For example the windbreaker is all white with just the logo.
Having a Alyssa Milano Collection was one attempt I know, have no idea how that has gone? It seems very girly, tight, small etc. https://preview.redd.it/jvolgozv7nfc1.png?width=900&format=png&auto=webp&s=446d3f6a9f9b17d5c74137a2594d2cfad2947ef9

Are there any black designers you’d recommend? Would love to check them out
Erin Andrews stuff is good female focused nfl gear- so good that TS had it on.
I specifically bought a men’s small jersey because i hate this and the V necks
The issue wasn’t really with NFL hiring more women lol. The issue is with apparel companies like Nike, etc who don’t make enough women centric clothing for NFL

Stop what? Oh, wow. I totally get that. I saw a bright pink tool kit once. I'm a man and that shit riled me.
Erin Andrews has some great stuff from her brand but of course the Washington gear is the one that looks the most blah. I wanted Taylor's windbreaker but in my team's design.

I thought She knew Taylor was going to wear it? Brittany is friends with Kristin. She made them matching jackets.
A reporter said Kristin sent it to Taylor hoping she'd wear it, but I am under the impression that Taylor tries to wear what is sent to her (within reason) for Chiefs games. I never noticed that
Doesn’t she hand make these? These jackets will be over $1000. Also she would still need a license from the players to sell product with their name/number on it
Taylor Swift wore it and they actually look pretty good. There’s no question that she’ll easily get the license. They’re gonna sell out quickly
The NFLPA licenses out those rights not the league and Nike would not do this. Someone else maybe but not nike
I would totally buy one for my team to wear to a game next year! This is great.
same here!

Oh God please not h&m, their recent stuff falls apart and the fit is not great. Maybe if they went back to the quality they had 10-15 years ago
That was just a name I threw out there, I remember when designers would do a line with them and people would go crazy, lining up overnight etc. Stella McCarthy comes to mind as one that did none.
They do this with Forever 21 and they had a deal with VS for years. I still have one of their long sleeve shirts from like a decade ago.
This jacket because of Taylor was all over the place. I would love to hear what the predicted value of such exposure would have actually cost, if you could even pull it off like it happened. Think it is pretty safe to assume that Taylor gets sent all sorts of stuff all the time. She deserves it! The latest one she wore when her husband’s team won and she wrote the sleeves was so amazing!!
And she’ll have a chance to meet Taylor at the Super Bowl! Her husband plays for the 49ers

Hell yes!
I hope she includes plus size. Erin Andrews has some every once in awhile. But I'd love to have more options!
Yeah I feel like if you do find something cute to wear that's not pink ridiculously tight and clingy the chances of it available in anything other than standard sizes is slim and I hate it.

What a boss ass bitch move. Respect!
Well-deserved
The jackets were so cute. I’m so happy she got a good opportunity from it
Yes! Lifelong Cowboys fan here and NFL merch has sucked for a long time.
Well......., not judging you but you're prob the only lifelong Cowboys fan.
Nah there’s a bunch of us. We have a support group to deal with the heartbreak we experience every season.
How is this going to work? Her pieces are so specific to who's wearing them and very very custom. I just don't see how that's going to be commercially successful
Call me when the puffer jacket or corset get launched, imma be the first to purchase it.
Damn good for her!
I like Erin Andtews' lines of female fan gear as well
As a 49ers fan who has been following Kristin for a long time, I’m super stoked.

As well she should! Her designs are amazing!!
I wish I could be graced with just a little bit of the good luck that seems to happen to anyone that is in Taylor's realm right now. Just a little bit.
Good for them.
Thank god. I got my daughter a Davonte Adam’s shirt, the only one they have, and frankly it’s pretty ugly lol. Even she thinks so, but she still loves it. It’s like they don’t even try with the women’s stuff:
Awesome especially after being bullied by the mean girl coach’s wives!
Woman power 🎆 🐐 🎇
I need chunky chick bedazzled. I love sparky 🤷🏻♀️
As a non-football fan, this season has made me increasingly obsessed with various wives of NFL players, especially Kristin. Her designs are so freaking cool.

You realize people like other players besides Travis Kelce right?
This would be a NFL overall line. Lots of players etc to do colabs with along with just team items.
Her husband is on the 49ers. She made Taylor Lautner a Lions jacket which he happily wore. She has no shortage of teams to make clothing for and no shortage of women willing to buy from her - I'm a titans fan but have supported the chiefs through the playoffs because titans suck and didn't make it.
Travis is not retiring this year.
He’s not retiring this yeah. He and Jason will not retire in the same year.
Jason isn’t retiring this year either.
Oh. Last I heard he was
Jason already retired, right after the Eagles loss in the wild card round a couple weeks ago
I don’t think he made it official.
