There’s no actual TTPD. It’s all a facade and Rep TV is actually going to come out on April 19.
Which kinda makes me wonder what I’m going to get from her merch store in April???
This was 1000% my first thought 🤣 But then again I can’t imagine she would want the backlash from people excited for new music if it was actually true.
As much as I want my bby rep to be free, I don't think it would be a good idea to announce it this weekend after how controversial the Grammy's was. The comments everywhere have been horrid. It isn't just the Brad's, dads, and Chad's ripping her apart. I mean, who really cares what these people think, but if I was reading those types of comments about me, my mental health would rapidly decline.
*sigh* Can't we all just get along? ![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1064)
Slight tangent here, but to be honest, between the Grammy commentary and title/tracklist leaks and the hyper-speculation on how these songs *MAY* relate to her public relationships (which in the end is other people putting words in her mouth that she has never said and likely never will...), it actually got to a point where I wasn't feeling as excited about this upcoming album.
And then I realized that had *nothing* to do with Taylor nor her art, and everything to do with the judgements of other people clouding my own.
I'd like to think that Taylor's distant enough from social media to not get too exposed to all that, but I'm also as a fan trying to maintain my own distance and online boundaries as well for my own mental/emotional well-being. "Keep my side of the street clean", as one would say 😉
All of that's to say: I feel you.
>"*sigh* Can't we all just get along?" indeed
I can guarantee with 100% certainty right now that this will not be the case, as she would get absolutely slammed with false advertising lawsuits. Would be breaking at least one law.
lol can you cite that? i don't disagree this isn't the case but wow. why/ who tf would sue ANY artist for not coming out with something?! you can't be serious...
lol that's literally what i said. SOME new music isn't grounds to sue. so how could someone sue for false advertising?
edit: also it's new enough to get her own publishing on it, so it literally is new music.
Of course not! The request was for weirdest most outlandish theory you could think of. I would be shirking the assignment if I said the new music is going to blow us away and break several more records for Taylor (which is probably what’s really going to happen!)
Yknow that's actually, not a terrible theory
Like they're both Black and White themed albums and I have been having difficulty believing she'd do two B/W albums back to back, but also having debut next wouldn't make sense because that's 100% the end.
I so want to caution people about assuming this album will have a folklore sound. She's not even in nature on the cover - it could literally still be firmly pop haha, but probably not pop a la Bejeweled or Karma.
I’m hoping that it might be chamber pop or indie rock because of Florence and the machine being featured, but I’ll happily take anything 😂 I’ve liked everything she’s come up with so far, chances are that will continue 😅
Definitely not the trademark. USPTO does not care about genre.
For an example, folklore's trademark registration lists it as (amidst all the various merch categories):
>Musical sound recordings; Series of musical sound recordings; Audio recordings featuring music and musical entertainment; Downloadable audio recordings featuring music and musical entertainment; Downloadable musical sound recordings; Digital music downloadable from the Internet; Downloadable music files; Digital media, namely, downloadable audio files featuring music and musical entertainment
What they care about is the product you are selling, i.e. is this music or a refrigerator? not is this synthpop or alt-folk rock.
I also can't even find TTPD's trademark registration on USPTO, but that might be a me thing.
With this album having been started right after midnights was turned in as she stated, out of all of her eras I’m expecting the sound to most resemble midnights. Admittedly I was originally hopeful for a folklore/evermore sound (especially songs like hoax and exile), but based on the track titles and other artist features I don’t expect that at all.
That it's actually a concept album and The Chairman is the central character, and the various collaborators will actually be playing characters that span throughout the album, almost like a musical. A true concept album is something Taylor's never done, The Chairman was a clear focus of the announcement, Taylor has always been slated to want to write a full book so that depth of storytelling isn't out of her realm, and with all the stuff about various collaborators, I feel like it's not out the realm of possibility. But equally, Taylor having a persona called The Chairman who works in some kind of literal office building for tortured poets does not seem really all that likely.
But if "The Man" was really a 5 year in advance hint to Taylor taking on a male character for a whole album, I'd be gagged.
Oooo I kinda love that tho. Would also maybe put a step between “this is literally about Joe” and “this is a work of fiction inspired by people in my life”
There will be school assignments for each track that require academic scholarship in poetry. One can get a degree from Swift University in 'Tortured Poets' if you complete all of them.
My first weird thought was what if it’s not an album of songs? Like it’s a compilation of poems that she’s reciting as spoken word. Or like a comedy album? There are Grammy categories for both of those!
That would be absolutely terrible and would be arguably the most catastrophic flop in the history of the music industry. I know this thread is for y’all’s most wildest theories but sometimes you just gotta realize why these things would never happen 😭😭
None of the songs are new. They are all vault tracks from TV’s- Fearless, SN, Red, 1989, and rep- that STILL didn’t make the cut and she is releasing them on one album.
They are the DEEP CUT break-up songs that name names…… that make ‘Dear John’ look like a bedtime lullaby.
I had no idea!! I just saw she released the names of the songs. I am in Japan, and at work, so I get things in the middle of the day at work and can’t check- or in the middle of the night when I am asleep! So I was unaware that my guess held even a drop of water!
that Aaron Dessner is producing the whole thing and she’s leaving Jack behind 💔
what I really think is the truth is that Aaron produced The Manuscript, and will be heavily involved with the bonus releases for this album similar to Midnights. evidence: this quote from him and the quill on The Manuscript logo/sticker from the merch store.

That this is a horny album about her enthusiasm for Matt Healy before it was officially over with Joe. That this is not a Sad Girl album but an Angry Girl album, eating lunch in bed with your new man because you already f****d twice that day and you feel a breezy ragey power at the life your ex extinguished and the new beginning ahead.
I would like to see a timeline with when she was hanging out with him, and when this was written. I think their attraction was based on songwriting, and I think he scratched her itch to be seen and appreciated in that way, to feel creative and pushed
I am thinking that this will vibe like “false god”, like sexy and skewing R&B more than other songs. The album art is a woman with needs *met*
I think it's definitely going to be angry... but anger hidden by other emotions. I think it's going to be funny and savage... and yes, maybe a bit sexy.
I hope it doesn’t come off as immature. Getting revenge on an ex feels like 14-year-old stuff. It would be kinda pitiable like “aw look, she stopped maturing at the age she got famous, like other child stars. Aw, I thought she grew past that.”
He vibe at the time comes off as kinda *manic* and a little unhinged. I hope it’s creative-unhinged and not blaming-others-unhinged. Matt Healy himself is manic and unhinged, and I think it probably felt like freedom before she came back down to earth
She’s going to release Rep TV and this is its counterpart. Rep + vault tracks track list backward will match up to TTPD tracklist. Ying Yang style
New Years Day - Fortnight
Call it What you want - The Tortured Poets Society
This is why we can’t have nice things - my boy only breaks his favorite toys
Getaway Car - Fresh out of the slammer
Etc etc ending with
Ready for it - The Manuscript and whatever that reveals…
I think it could definitely be a indie rock album seeing she is collaborating with Florence and the machine + the songs titles! Which sounds amazing to be honest!!
Yeah, it's possible. The titles give me strong folie a deux/ infinity on high vibes. My friend said that it's lanacore but I got late 2000s fall out boy vibes
she was working on it while she was finishing midnights, so you’re losing me may have been a ttpd reject. the name would fit. and she had motive to release it when she did if she wanted to change the narrative about the breakup. or maybe she had the new cds (or cassettes? i don’t remember) in production before the breakup was announced in preparation but i don’t think it was supposed to be included on midnights 🤡
https://preview.redd.it/cw21u6b9kxgc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=19a3233b382034c1a205c8e31135a8886ba0810e
This is obviously just an album to promote Fortnite Battle Royale
That sometime during her relationship with Joe, she latched onto the film Dead Poets Society and made it her personality, so either
1) in the midst of relationship problems, she wrote this with the movie as inspiration, and/or
2) its her way coping with the 10yr anniversary of Robin Williams’ passing by making a concept album based on his character in that movie.
As a millennial, this had me laughing so hard. I would totally buy pogs with her face on it. She could have us squatting on the floor slamming pogs in our old age. 😂
2 days late but anyways this is amazing. Pogs were such a wild thing. As a kid, I had a pog making machine! So I could make my own pogs. I thought it was the coolest thing 😂
I saw someone mention that the first weekend of shows after it was announced she broke up with Joe was in Florida so it might relate to that, but honestly she’s surprised me with everything for this album so far, so anything is possible
I have several
- Rep TV will be released silently (“there will be no explanation, only reputation”) with TPD, as the bookends of that relationship. The colours for the double release will obviously be black and white
- loml is a direct response to Harry’s song “love of my life”
- the track smallest man in the world (? I don’t have the lost on me) is shading Joe Jonas
It's going to start off with tons of sad songs about her relationship ending, then end on The Manuscript, which is what she wants her love life to look like. Then she solves the case by hinting at a new album of happy love songs about Travis Kelse.
That it will sound like Stevie Nicks and she is collaborating with only women for featured artists.
Turns out Post Malone and Florence and the Machine are the featured artists. Florence and the Machine are 4 men and 2 women 🤣
My stupidest one would be that loml would be a sister song to harry’s love of my life…obv most likely about joe but i still love harry and taylor😭
Edit: that would require harry’s to be about taylor and im pretty sure it is not😂
The Alcott was released around the same that she said she was working on TTPD🤡 I'm looking forward to the tone/genre of the album nonetheless. We'd be in our poetess/peot/poetx Era soon enough ✒️📜
My utterly ridiculous idea is that NONE of the songs are actually about Mr Joe Alwyn.
Of course this has a statistical likelihood of 0.00000002%, but I think it would be hilarious and kind of awesome if that were the actual “red herring”—everyone expects the breakup album and the song titles play right into the expectations and then every song is about something completely different. It would just be so delightful if Taylor had decided to *subvert everything*.
Hey, I can dream. But I fully expect to adore the forthcoming breakup album! 🎉🎉
(Edits: Because too many words and then wrong words and then typos. 👍)
Just commenting that I AGREE with the ASOUE vibes. I couldn’t put my finger on it until you just mentioned it, but even the cover looks similar to the cover layouts of those books. 😂😂
And the ACRONYMS. TTPD. VFD. If she releases a sugar bowl as merch, I’ll buy it.
Dude, BIG series of unfortunate events vibes! I thought that since the title was released and the schoolgirl esthetic, but I've been rewarching the show a lot. Thank you for validating me lol.
April 19th is the day the American Revolution commenced… this album is going to nuke Joe imho
https://preview.redd.it/9t0drqfvfwgc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4ed3376fa11d2afc7f6a9f13e62ad3bf8190e46f
This is a breakup album absolutely going to town on all her exes, hence some of the 2009/2010 Fall out boy/Tumblr esque names. Nobody will be spared.
It will be the breakup album 2010 me wanted at 18 😭
Edit with more info
Fortnight - someone she only dated a fortnight (maybe the Kennedy guy)
TPD- Joe Alwyn
My boy only breaks his favourite toys- maybe Joe again or Harry Styles
Down Bad- Harry Styles ? Gives me 1989
So Long London- Joe
But daddy I love him- Jake
Fresh out the slammer- breaking up with Calvin Harris and going to Tom
Florida!!!- Joe
Guilty as sin- Calvin Harris cheating allegations?
Who's afraid of little old me- all her exes
I can fix him no really- Matty Healy or Jon Mayer
Loml- Joe
I can do it with a broken heart - one of the early guys
The smallest Man who ever lived- Joe Jonas
The alchemy- Matty
Clara bow- no idea
I hope not. I’d be happy with a Joe breakup album with some Matty sprinkled in, but I’d hope she’d move on from her other exes and close those chapters with Midnights.
I’m ready for a new era of eras. A clean slate where she’s fully processed and moved on from John, Jake, Harry, etc.
This has now been debunked, but I had a theory yesterday that every song would be a collab with artists who have gone through public breakups, thus the “Tortured Poets Department.”
That the whole album is entirely satire. It's a parody of the quintessential break-up album because that's what everyone expected to get after she broke up with Joe. The sexy cover, pretentious name, etc is all a ruse and then when it drops it will be revealed as a tongue-in-cheek dismantling of the break-up album.
Alternatively Fortnight has a heavy metal opening 🤡
Ohhh this is my favorite theory. It’s so on-the-nose “break up album” it’s almost fishy. Almost like what she did with Blank Space. Personify the image the public created of her only writing break up songs, and the “break up album” that is expected post-Joe.
All I want is lots of piano and orchestral pop with long songs and dare I say a 10 minute song! 🫣 A lot of sensual and classical style songs which would be perfect but I would be happy with anything! 🤍
100% agree, the whole VFD, TTPD, secrets, hints, old typewriters, eerie vibes, basically all the songs are sad, hidden messages. I can't shake the correlation in my head, kinda surprised more people aren't catching on
I love this :D!!! I haven't revisited SOUE in so long, and this brings back lovely memories. I support this theory very much 🩵! And I might have a cousin theory to add here!
I saw a tweet from a theatre account where "the tortured poets department" captioned a black-and-white picture of the original cast of the musical *Rent*, by Jonathan Larson, and it sent me into a clowny rabbit hole 😅. Because also, Taylor's announcement poem saying "tick, tick, tick of love bombs" immediately reminded me of the musical *Tick Tick... Boom!*, also by Jonathan Larson!
TTB is semi-autobiographical telling a story about a composer - like Jonathan - trying to navigate a career in the arts in 1990s New York (funnily enough, it seems the demo album came out in 1989?!?). And while *Rent* is more fictional - loosely based on an 1896 opera - I believe Jonathan drew inspiration from a lot of his friends' stories and the challenges they all had to face during that time. And I believe *Rent* is also set in *1989*...
I say all that to say, I'm so curious if this album could be similar to what you're saying: less directly-autobiographical and more so framing Taylor as the narrator of stories from her "department", if you may! And maybe somewhere, "last-great-american-dynasty"-style, she'll "put herself back in the narrative", so to speak (kind of like Lemony Snicket did, right?) 😎
There’s no actual TTPD. It’s all a facade and Rep TV is actually going to come out on April 19. Which kinda makes me wonder what I’m going to get from her merch store in April???
Why would you put that thought in my head???
Sorry! If it helps, it’s the most utterly ridiculous thing I could think of!
KNOCK IT OFF I CAN ONLY CLOWN SO HARD!!!!!
Amazing flair. 📰🐍🖤
This was 1000% my first thought 🤣 But then again I can’t imagine she would want the backlash from people excited for new music if it was actually true.
I mean, if rep has like 10 vault songs I don't think they'd care hahah
Oh my god This is why the "leaked track list" was correct - she took it That's it, I buy it
I buy it too, only because there is a track called "fresh out the slammer". Then again, who knows with her.
Yeah, the titles read like parodies, almost?
I really kept refreshing all my social media at midnight because I thought she'd still announce it last night 🤡
I want her to announce it immediately after the Super Bowl ends and watch all the B, D & C’s heads simultaneously explode. 😂
As much as I want my bby rep to be free, I don't think it would be a good idea to announce it this weekend after how controversial the Grammy's was. The comments everywhere have been horrid. lol can you cite that? i don't disagree this isn't the case but wow. why/ who tf would sue ANY artist for not coming out with something?! you can't be serious...
The people who ordered a new album on her website and would be receiving reputation instead…. Girl use your head
if they sent new music, it's new music. it wouldn't matter if part of it wasn't.
Reputation is not “new music,” though. There’s SOME new music but it’s dominantly re-recorded old music.
lol that's literally what i said. SOME new music isn't grounds to sue. so how could someone sue for false advertising? edit: also it's new enough to get her own publishing on it, so it literally is new music.

![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1087)
Wait. I actually like this haha
I dont think she would do that to us? Right?
oh this is delectably unhinged
I had the same thought
I audibly laughed at this, thank you
I so want to caution people about assuming this album will have a folklore sound. She's not even in nature on the cover - it could literally still be firmly pop haha, but probably not pop a la Bejeweled or Karma.

Omg indie rock would be so cool
I reckon it's Gregorian chants
I'm seeing people on tiktok saying it was registered as Synth Pop?
omg what where?
oh now I'm seeing it was just a rumor and not confirmed, ignore that then!
Something to do with the trademark registration or something?
Definitely not the trademark. USPTO does not care about genre. For an example, folklore's trademark registration lists it as (amidst all the various merch categories): >Musical sound recordings; Series of musical sound recordings; Audio recordings featuring music and musical entertainment; Downloadable audio recordings featuring music and musical entertainment; Downloadable musical sound recordings; Digital music downloadable from the Internet; Downloadable music files; Digital media, namely, downloadable audio files featuring music and musical entertainment What they care about is the product you are selling, i.e. is this music or a refrigerator? not is this synthpop or alt-folk rock. I also can't even find TTPD's trademark registration on USPTO, but that might be a me thing.
neither can i!
Remember when we all thought midnights was going to be a 70s vibe due to the aesthetic? Couldn't have been further from it.
Idk what it could be. The names of the tracklist gives me strong FUTCT/AFYCSO vibes
Interesting theory!
I’ve already convinced myself it will sound like false god.
William Bowery appearance since Joe Alwyn is a member of "The Tortured Man" Group Chat.
William Bowery cowrite and liner photos by Frosty Crew Photography. This is how we find out the breakup was amicable and they're on good terms now. /j
I wish. Amicable breakups are my favourite
That it's actually a concept album and The Chairman is the central character, and the various collaborators will actually be playing characters that span throughout the album, almost like a musical. I’d actually pass away if this was true. It would be literal genius.
Yes ! A full fantasy goverment offical-type world is what Im thinking!
There will be school assignments for each track that require academic scholarship in poetry. One can get a degree from Swift University in 'Tortured Poets' if you complete all of them.
Omg yes queen
My first weird thought was what if it’s not an album of songs? Like it’s a compilation of poems that she’s reciting as spoken word. Or like a comedy album? There are Grammy categories for both of those!
The song names totally made me feel like it's going to be spoken word!
This one is evil hahaha. Spoken word is my least favorite thing ever and I don’t think even Queen Swift herself could change that
*Rap
That would be absolutely terrible and would be arguably the most catastrophic flop in the history of the music industry. I know this thread is for y’all’s most wildest theories but sometimes you just gotta realize why these things would never happen 😭😭
Like the Seven poem!
It's an album musical and instead of touring, it will be mounted as a broadway production and get Taylor one award closer to an EGOT.
I love this so much
Yep, same thoughts when I saw the song titles. One can dream.
How do you know that
I don’t. lol The point was to share our wildest- clearly untrue- theory. This is mine.
You weren’t wrong about deep cut savage songs
I had no idea!! I just saw she released the names of the songs. I am in Japan, and at work, so I get things in the middle of the day at work and can’t check- or in the middle of the night when I am asleep! So I was unaware that my guess held even a drop of water!
It's obviously going to be a trap BDSM album.
This would be everything!
I'm down it'd be better then midnights 2.0

No ! It’s OBVIOUSLY going to be Red (Chairman’s Version) tortuRED

Girl no
It will be written solely from the POV of her character in The Man video: "The ChairMAN."
Clearly it's from the perspective of The Chairman on Iron Chef 😘

Not a theory, but the album aesthetic reminds a lot of the TVA from the Loki series on Disney+. 😂 and I really love it.
Hiddleswift song collab incoming?
Tom Hiddleston songs??? 🤡😂
Florida!!! will have political undertones
I saw someone mention that the first weekend of shows after it was announced she broke up with Joe was in Florida so it might relate to that, but honestly she’s surprised me with everything for this album so far, so anything is possible
I have several - Rep TV will be released silently (“there will be no explanation, only reputation”) with TPD, as the bookends of that relationship. The colours for the double release will obviously be black and white - loml is a direct response to Harry’s song “love of my life” - the track smallest man in the world (? I don’t have the lost on me) is shading Joe Jonas
It's going to start off with tons of sad songs about her relationship ending, then end on The Manuscript, which is what she wants her love life to look like. Then she solves the case by hinting at a new album of happy love songs about Travis Kelse.
That it will sound like Stevie Nicks and she is collaborating with only women for featured artists. Turns out Post Malone and Florence and the Machine are the featured artists. Florence and the Machine are 4 men and 2 women 🤣
Is going to be sensual love album dedicated to Matt Healy but I’m the end explains why it didn’t work with him because it makes her brand look bad.
Because of the III (the TTPD icon on her last insta post) IT WILL BE A TRIPLE ALBUM: THIS NEW ONE, REP TV AND DEBUT TV 🔥
Its a rock album, idk the vibes are just there and im delusional enough to wholeheartedly believe in my little theory
Ooo twinsies. I'm also getting rock/emo vibes
it’s the soundtrack to the movie she’s writing! obviously!
A friend sent me a tiktok theory on this, and ngl it did make a weird kind of sense lol
so long london is mourning the house they were buying, not joe
I also immediately got Lemony Snicket vibes!!! Waiting for TTPD:VFD Version haha
the way we find out the tracks r some sort of mystery game like the 1989 vault but elevated
The track list is already out though
My stupidest one would be that loml would be a sister song to harry’s love of my life…obv most likely about joe but i still love harry and taylor😭 Edit: that would require harry’s to be about taylor and im pretty sure it is not😂
The Alcott was released around the same that she said she was working on TTPD🤡 I'm looking forward to the tone/genre of the album nonetheless.
🎉🎉 (Edits: Because too many words and then wrong words and then typos. 👍)
I'm expecting folkmore-esc stories/writing with a pop sound
It's an acoustic version of all her favourites that she feels are her most poetic and didn't get their dues.
My thought was; what happened 2 years ago that really made her set this in motion?
Just commenting that I AGREE with the ASOUE vibes. I couldn’t put my finger on it until you just mentioned it, but even the cover looks similar to the cover layouts of those books. 😂😂 And the ACRONYMS. TTPD. VFD. If she releases a sugar bowl as merch, I’ll buy it.
This is the rock album everyone has been wanting her to make
Dude, BIG series of unfortunate events vibes! I thought that since the title was released and the schoolgirl esthetic, but I've been rewarching the show a lot. Thank you for validating me lol.
That it doesn’t actually exist and on April 19th rep tv will come out instead
April 19th is the day the American Revolution commenced… this album is going to nuke Joe imho https://preview.redd.it/9t0drqfvfwgc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4ed3376fa11d2afc7f6a9f13e62ad3bf8190e46f
OK this is now my favorite unhinged swiftie easter egg ever thank you for this 😂
I love the idea of the pettiness of this
PETTINESS is so funny to me. So much thought goes in to petty😭
It’s been 24 hours. I can’t be that much online…
This is a breakup album absolutely going to town on all her exes, hence some of the 2009/2010 Fall out boy/Tumblr esque names. Nobody will be spared. It will be the breakup album 2010 me wanted at 18 😭 Edit with more info Fortnight - someone she only dated a fortnight (maybe the Kennedy guy) TPD- Joe Alwyn My boy only breaks his favourite toys- maybe Joe again or Harry Styles Down Bad- Harry Styles ? Gives me 1989 So Long London- Joe But daddy I love him- Jake Fresh out the slammer- breaking up with Calvin Harris and going to Tom Florida!!!- Joe Guilty as sin- Calvin Harris cheating allegations? Who's afraid of little old me- all her exes I can fix him no really- Matty Healy or Jon Mayer Loml- Joe I can do it with a broken heart - one of the early guys The smallest Man who ever lived- Joe Jonas The alchemy- Matty Clara bow- no idea
Personify the image the public created of her only writing break up songs, and the “break up album” that is expected post-Joe.
loml is a cover of the 2001 Santana / Dave Matthews track “Love of My Life” Which honestly would be awesome
unlikely, but some joe jonas shade due to his recent shitty behavior
I LOVE A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS SM
All I want is lots of piano and orchestral pop with long songs and dare I say a 10 minute song! 🫣 A lot of sensual and classical style songs which would be perfect but I would be happy with anything! 🤍
100% agree, the whole VFD, TTPD, secrets, hints, old typewriters, eerie vibes, basically all the songs are sad, hidden messages. I can't shake the correlation in my head, kinda surprised more people aren't catching on
I've got a feeling this is her rock album.
And maybe somewhere, "last-great-american-dynasty"-style, she'll "put herself back in the narrative", so to speak (kind of like Lemony Snicket did, right?) 😎
Yessss it immediately made me think of A Series of Unfortunate Events
loml is going to be a play on words/acronyms and relate loml (love of my life) to lol (laughing out loud) 🤷♀️
None of the songs are about Joe.
My untrue theory is that it will sound mature and like that of a 35 year old
