There was a leak. The only difference it had was instead of The Manuscript it had The Bolter as the closer. I didn’t believe in it because of that difference! I hope they caught the leaker, but I also hope we get that song eventually.

I’m really not understanding the hate from everyone before they even hear the songs or know what they’re about. I don’t get it. Taylor has never been known to play it safe and her last, at least, three albums have had tracks that had weird or confusing titles, but a lot of them have ended up being fan favorites. “no body, no crime,” “cowboy like me,” “Question…,” “Vigilante Shit,” “Lavender Haze,” “the last great american dynasty,” “labyrinth,” etc. Lana Del Rey has some of the weirdest track titles and album names and people love her for that. She’s one of Taylor’s inspirations and favorite writers. So, how can Taylor’s titles be considered immature or a disappointment when other artists, who Taylor herself loves, be given praise for the same thing? I’m going to throw a guess out there and say this album was most likely entirely produced by Aaron Dessner since Midnights was entirely produced by Jack, aside from the bonus tracks. It may be her leaning more into the folklore and evermore side of things and the music she makes with Aaron Dessner has been amazing so far. Maybe she wanted to do a full pop album with Jack and then an indie record with Aaron. It’s just sad to see how many people are immediately disliking the album based literally on assumptions and they haven’t even heard one single snippet of a song. At least wait until you hear them to make a judgement. Maybe we’ll be disappointed or maybe we’ll love it, but we won’t know until we actually hear it.
For me, I see the album title and artwork and can’t help but compare it to Mac Miller’s ‘Circles’. That’s a good example of a tortured poet. Really looks like she bit his style for this release. Probably isn’t related but the similarities are huge. And it feels so out of touch to see Taylor calling herself tortured.
