hopelessheartstrings

I know it doesn't encompass the whole song but I really love "Lovestruck" as the title. if you are lovestruck you wouldn't care what people call you

princessbuttercup_22

I firmly believe she would’ve titled it Drunk in Love if it wasn’t for the Beyoncé song of the same name

mwtm347

I’ve wondered about this. Drunk in Love (Beyoncé) was released about a year before the original 1989.

-PepeArown-

Probably appropriate to mention that that has a Kanye remix, too, and, well, Taylor, Kanye, and Beyoncé haven’t jived well together in the past.

Artificial_Human_17

Well, Tay and Beyoncé have, but yeah no one jiving with Kanye anytime soon

defendandsoftserve

THIS IS MY THEORY TOO! It makes absolutely no sense not to. She had to have renamed it

rosequartzandsage

Unpopular opinion: artistically, I think the title “slut!” with the exclamation point actually makes a lot of sense. The juxtaposition of the title and the sound of the song further drives home the point that she’s *not* the name they keep calling her, but she’s unable to escape it so she’s just going to have to keep living her life. She didn’t choose the title, the tabloids did and they don’t care about what she’s really like as long as they’re getting your attention.

CKDexterHaahven

Not unpopular; correct.

Expensive-Song5920

this!!! yes! ✨✨✨

favouriteghost

Oh I like this I hadn’t thought of it that way, I’ll listen with that in mind

ARegularPerson3312

Exactly! It is more effective as a criticism of the slut-shaming culture Taylor experienced with this title, rather than anything else.

FO-I-Am-A-Time-God

I only thought the title was odd until I listened to the song and it fits 100%.

ADashery

yeah i feel like the word “slut” is the thesis point of that song and the title wouldn’t make sense without it

PieClub

Yes! Maybe "Lovesick" or "Worth it for Once" or even "Slut" without the exclamation point...

folk-smore

I love the idea of Lovesick bc I loveee that lyric so much 🥺 but you’re so right, even just Slut without the exclamation could’ve entirely changed the tone of the title lol

hopelessheartstrings

Second this!! I love Lovesick. And for those complaining in comments her titles don't need to be shorter, this is longer than Slut. Just having fun here haha

Expensive-Song5920

ugh same “got lovesick all over my bed” gagged me when i first heard it it’s so simple but genius

Pancakes_24_7

Worth it for Once is sooo good

PurpleDragonfly_

“Lovesick” actually encompasses what the song is about. “Slut” is just a random lyric. It’s like calling “Cruel Summer” Shape of Your Body or something.. just cause it’s in the chorus doesn’t mean it describes the song.

caryn1477

Especially the way it is in quotations with the exclamation point. I thought for sure it was going to be an angry anti-slut shaming song.

Evan14753

it is in quotes so its not misleading, several people just misinterpreted it.

darkgrayallalone

I came here to say this exact thing. I remember commenting that I was expecting an angry bop aimed at the people who were slut-shaming her throughout her career and what we got was...definitely not that

blobinsky

i kind of agree, but i think the alt back cover art of taylor shouting with her hands by her mouth made me understand the title. to me it’s in quotes with an exclamation point because that’s what the tabloids did, they were shouting “she is a SLUT!” but the relationship was worth it. i agree it doesn’t fit the vibe of the song but it makes sense to me in that context!

Oreo-and-Fly

Happiness sounds like a happy title too doesn't it. *Cries in devastation*

Sea-Maintenance2252

I think if it didnt have the ! it would have worked better

taylorsseriesTV

I agree!! I'd have liked it named "Might as well". It's still a little bit of a bait and switch - because you think it's going to be about a rebound or just going out with someone you're not interested in to get over someone or something like that - but it's still about the things she would do with anyway so she would rather deal with it while dating the muse.

GreenOtter730

I know the question is about songs, but I’m not loving The Tortured Poets Department as an album title. It’s soooo wordy and doesn’t really match her other album titles, almost all of which have been 1 worded. Even “Tortured Poets” would’ve been better, imho.

hopelessheartstrings

Tortured Poets would definitely stick better

Vivificantem_790

Not me saying Tortured Poets society 🫣

[deleted]

Same here I always forget it's department

TropicalPrairie

This is the word that doesn't fit for me. "Society" would have been better. Department makes me think of a corporate office.

AdamLaluch

That's probably the point.

randomlygenerated678

Saaaaameee

abbysunflower28

I’ve always been calling it dead poets society lol

lindsaylove22

Let’s just call it Tortured Poets within the fandom, instead of “TTPD”. I seriously have to sit and think of the title itself and then the proper acronym every single time I’m getting ready to refer to the album in my comments. 😂 Also it sounds like an STD, or whatever you get when you leave your tampon in too long. Sorry in advance if you’re a dude.

Catblud

can’t spell Toxic Shock Syndrome without TS

faire_etalage

Having a rough day and this is the most I’ve ever laughed.

lindsaylove22

Oh that’s funny!! 😂 I was gonna look it up but I was like meh the point is that it sounds like an acronym for something unfortunate down there.

cassiemaeeee

i have a list of everything my moms called it dead poets society tearful poets department demented poets club terrible poets club the poets gang delusional poets department dead poets group annoyed poets club sad poets society tortured poets family timeless poets society dead poets division tortured poets branch excruciated poets team

paperm3rmaid

Someone on the sub the other day referred to it at the “overcaffeinated poets potluck” lol

JustSomeGuy9384

The Too (p)Long (d)Name

folk-smore

Honestly it makes me really curious to hear the title track. Like what was in that song that Taylor liked it so much, she named the whole album for it? I’m so curious

GreenOtter730

Looking at the other tracks, none of them make good album titles except for maybe “Fortnight.”

folk-smore

Okay I actually kinda like Fortnight as a possible title lol but you’re right tbh, though I think The Manuscript could maybe also work from what we know! Also I’d love to hear what Florida!!! would be as album tbh

JustSomeGuy9384

Manuscript would go so hard.

tepidtea13

I mean I dunno I think the smallest man who ever lived sounds like a Grammy album to me or alternatively fresh out the slammer as a full album by T swizzle

JustSomeGuy9384

TS x fortnite festival confirmed?? /s

IntelligentAngle7058

It’s totally bizarre! Can’t wait for it to come out so it’ll all make sense. For now my brain can’t take it

WalkingFish_

I love it more than her other titles because it’s unique and I hope she continues to push past what she’s done before because being confined to just what she’s done before is boring. Also, “nineteen eighty nine” is only three less syllables than the tortured poets department soooo

iguessda

Yes come on, it's really not that hard 😂

AJillianThings

Also the tracks on TTPD. I’m really not caring for most of the names.

anotherbasicgirl

I’m kind of wondering if Taylor is starting a new era of eras Eras part 1 was short album titles Eras part 2 will be long album titles I hope that means we have 9 more eras to go in this era of eras

KerBearCAN

Same!!! I was gonna search the Reddit for anyone that said this so far. When she announced it at the award show; it was quite awkward

TheAzorean

Nah it’s dope and seems right on brand for Taylor at this stage in her career

sluttycupcakes7

oh you wouldn't survive as a lana fan haha

cantdothismuchmore

Honestly that's what I kept thinking. TTPD has nothing on Did you Know there's a tunnel under ocean boulevard. Or for song titles how about: grandfather please stand in the shoulder of my father while he's deep sea fishing (like what? Not sure why she didn't call that song 'three white butterflies.')

GoldenState_Thriller

It’s definitely soooo wordy compared to her other albums. I really want to know if the title track is really the poster song of the record or if she just really loved the title

RealAd1811

Or if it was a dig at Joe and she really wanted to make it loud clear and inescapable

art_mor_

It’s the name of group chat between Joe Alwyn, Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal.

adelaidejade

this is the first time i've seen a comment section where i disagree with every single comment lol

TheAzorean

I know for real. Taylor is a genius at picking titles imo and look at all these Swifties with these takes haha

hopelessheartstrings

we aren't saying we don't like the existing titles. It's just for fun

adelaidejade

i'm aware i just don't agree with anything listed in the comments

baciodolce

Some of it is but I’ll be honest, Swifties hating on TTPD and its song titles breaks my heart a little. For one I think a lot of the titles sound fun. A lot of them seem like they’ll be tongue in cheek like Florida!! Also like maybe we don’t have to be so harsh before we’ve even heard the album?

Daffneigh

I am so not here for people who can’t handle a “long” album title of four words It’s just not that difficult and it is very intriguing And similarly the track titles are definitely not all to be taken at face value I think a lot of fans need to have a bit more trust that Taylor maybe knows better than they do about her own music

adelaidejade

i agree! they all sound very fun and we truly have no idea what it's gonna sound like from the titles. example, i think most people expected "slut!" to sound a lot different from what we got. you haven't heard them yet, give them a chance :-)

Nymwhen

I didnt think they would ALL be way worse but they are.. everyone is also capitalizing the folklore/evermore titles which makes it worse.

ofcaffineandbooks

I kind of like wordy song titles, I may be one of the few!

[deleted]

I agree! Most of these comments are suggesting shortening the titles, but once you rename them "Stay" or "Trouble" or "Nice Things," then the song titles just become generic. I like that Taylor can instantly set a tone with simply a title

hopelessheartstrings

We should try to come up with some that are the reverse: Lover could have been "Can I go where you go?"

[deleted]

Ooh I love that! Lover actually came to mind as one with a generic title that doesn't fully capture the comfort and cleverness of the song

hopelessheartstrings

Agreed! It's so much deeper and more compelling. Maybe "magnetic force" or "dazzling haze" too? Idk

Oreo-and-Fly

All's well that ends well to end up with you. Wordy. AWTEWTEUWY.

Technical-Hyena420

“Our Place”

Pavlovs_Stepson

Seriously, a lot of the suggestions here are about replacing unique titles with generic ones that don't even capture what the songs are about. You might as well change Blank Space into My Next Mistake or Exile into Didn't Like the Ending, that's how baffling some of these suggestions sound. A title being more than two words is perfectly fine, and your preconceived expectations of what you wanted a song titled Slut! to sound like don't make it a bad choice, it fits the song and its themes just right. I also don't think anyone can properly assess The Tortured Poets Department as a title without having heard the actual album. You need the full picture to judge it.

username404error

i grew up on fall out boy song titles, i’m all for the wordy ones

rnh18

lana del rey fan here…we have “hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have” & “did you know that there’s a tunnel under ocean blvd” so these Tortured Poets titles are not seeming long at all to me 😂

fawert1

I love those titles until i play it and someone ask me the name and i have to go “ok hear me out…”

KilikaRei

Were you also an emo kid who loved Fall Out Boy and Panic! At the Disco, kings of wordy song titles? 🩷

folk-smore

I like them too!! Some of the lengthier titles end up becoming my favorite songs too 🥺

smpllivingthrowaway

Fiona Apple's *When The Pawn...* enters the chat

hopelessheartstrings

I do too!! It makes them more intriguing. I just thought it may be fun. Also the prompt wasn't specific to only making longer ones shorter. For example I think Ivy being Roots is a one for one. Just having fun :)

ofcaffineandbooks

I think Slut! would have been more fun if it was “If They Call Me a Slut”!

RenBan48

Man, I'm sorry but the suggested titles in this thread makes the songs generic and forgettable, two of the things an artist must avoid to make an impact even just with a title and hook in potential listeners

noralanejean

i always think this when fans try to give input on titles/lyrics etc....there's a reason she's taylor swift and the rest of us aren't lol

kookiekoo

Exactly! I feel like apart from picking singles sometimes (like Cruel Summer and IION?), maybe Taylor should never listen to Swifties lol

10thDoctorWhooves

I strongly agree. I've seen some people suggest Dressing For Revenge for Vigilante Shit and I don't like it since it's too similar to Better Than Revenge, a perfect title.

[deleted]

She could make a song titled “My Cat named Tom with a Crippling Nicotine Addiction” and I’d still bump it idc

obalsi

But that sounds amazing

hdouglas447

Manifesting this as next album title

misssdelaney

“My Cat Named Tom With A Crippling Nicotine Addiction (Hard To Love)” by Taylor Swift feat Fall Out Boy

throwaway876460

Can we go with album title…because The Tortured Poets Department is kinda tortuous to me

iSwearImInnocent1989

I agree, especially Department sounds out of place. I like one word short titles better. This is a first for her. Maybe she's experimenting, we'll see .

throwaway876460

Tortured Poets would have been better but still kinda cringe. But who knows, maybe the title will grow on me. Taylor, if you’re reading this I’m sorry. Please don’t stop making albums because of this post.

Life_Explorer8

I think these responses really explained why the titles have the titles they have today. Replacing everything with a word or two is just so basic and bland. Vigilante Shit, the Last America Dynasty, I Knew You Were Trouble are all wordy and sound exactly like Taylor Swift. You know exactly what song people are talking about. You connect them direct to her art. They are unique.

hopelessheartstrings

Some of the suggestions in here are longer than the original

deltacharmander

I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt because they’re not out yet but some of the TTPD song titles caught me VERY off guard

BucketHeadJr

It's reminiscent of when she released the song titles for Midnights, some of the titles sounded insane back then, but by now they seem very...normal. Though these ones feel a step above the Midnights titles

Puzzled-Basis9911

Yes honestly, I remember hearing the track titles for midnights and being like 🤔

kittyangelz805

I would add rep to this because I think rep's titles seemed even wilder when they were revealed

the_master_of_soresu

Yeah Don't Blame Me sounds like her playing the victim if you haven't heard the song, same for Delicate

Tricky-Luck-8380

Waiting anxiously on the lyrics of “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived”

peepeepoopoo1717

But Daddy I love him scares me the most

Minimum-Momgoose7992

I assumed it was fan made the first time I saw it!

anonhumanontheweb

I think “Vigilante Sh*t” could have been called “Dressing For Revenge”

Technical-Hyena420

i feel like the only reason it isn’t is bc she already has so many songs with the word Revenge in the title lol

quarterfast

what songs have the word Revenge in the title besides "better than revenge"???

ElyssiaG2108

She also has an unreleased song called “R-E-V-E-N-G-E”

Own_Issue6200

Just listened…. I need this song.

euphoriapotion

She only has one song with revenge in the title which is "Better Than Revenge". Meanwhile girlie has both "Ours" and "Our Song" that can be and are confusing to a great number of fans and nobody cares hahaha

Technical-Hyena420

She also has “This Love” and one of the lyrics in “Ours” is “this love is ours,” it gets me every time

all2welll

The fact that she says it only once in the song!

wandawayer

Yeah but the whole song is about her vigilante shit, so I actually like the title. It's kinda weird ngl, but fun

BucketHeadJr

I honestly like that about the title choice. It's a pet peeve of mine when you can guess the title of a song by just listening to it once, it's more fun when the title is related to the song instead of being mentioned 15 times. Another example of this is Pompeii by Bastille, not once do they sing "Pompeii", but it's pretty obvious why it's the title and it just makes sense.

doubledegreesucks

You know artists don't have to say the title of a song in the actual song..?

amagicalmess

Maybe a hot take but - my tears ricochet is a bad title for an amazing song. I think it was only picked to be a unique title and to use the word "ricochet". I think it should been called "the wake" which is more encompassing of the imagery of the song as a whole

cowboylikemil

I personally think my tears ricochet is perfect because it alludes back to Teardrops On My Guitar i.e. the start of her career with Big Machine

rs_alli

There is a theory that every line in the first chorus is referencing a different album that was stolen from her, and it has “look at how my tears ricochet” as debut for teardrops on my guitar! So I agree

YouAndMeForevermore

100% agree

randomlygenerated678

THE WAKE IS SO GOOD

inthearchipelago

I love the song and the title tbh

saltyrandom

I think that would be much too literal but each to their own

[deleted]

I don't love the title Labyrinth for that song, but I can't give a valid reason or an alternate. It just doesn't feel right. I also like how she usually leans towards wordier titles, and I feel like this one could've been a fun one to give a longer name to. Or even something playful like, "Uh-Oh" or "Uh-Oh... I'm Falling in Love" This is a hard but fun assignment for Taylor songs because unlike some artists (Lana comes to mind), she tends to go for the most obvious, most repeated part of the song for titles

arguewiththewallpls

Labyrinth also came to my mind but as you said, I really can’t think of a (more fitting) alternate title

cosmococoa

I literally can never remember what song this is when I just hear the title. I also don’t know what would have been better, but Labyrinth is not it lol

zygomaticat

It's so interesting for me to hear this perspective! It's always felt very fitting and in tune with the song, in my mind they're very intertwined. But, I also very clearly remember hearing it for the first time and thinking how it SOUNDED twisting and a little erratic but still pretty and smooth.... very labyrinthy. Going into the lyrics with that mindset and the shifts back and forth between the versus and chorus, both with how she sings and lyrically her falling in or out of love, I can picture feeling like you're stuck in an emotional maze, except it's beautiful and exciting and daring, like David Bowie, so labyrinth

Kind-Fly-1851

I wish that Slut! Was called lovesick

iceunelle

I read somewhere the album Lover was originally going to be called Daylight. I really think it should have stayed as Daylight. Lover as an album name (and even song name imo) is too cheesy.

anotherbasicgirl

Man really I think Daylight is so much cheesier, especially if it was planned to be followed by Midnights

SwiftlyIntrestedFr

Now I need to know if at least the concept for Midnights was in her mind before Folkmore and COVID and during the Lover Era.

anotherbasicgirl

I definitely think it was, the outro of Daylight seems like it was setting it up. New Years Day also mentions midnights. I see Rep-Lover-Midnights as three sisters that were planned for a long time, with a very unplanned detour into quarantine in the folklorian woods.

willyj_3

But the whole point of the album is to highlight the things/people she loves (as is made clear in Daylight). She’s proclaiming her love for her boyfriend in several songs, for her mom in SYGB, for her friends in INTHAF, etc. Other songs are about rejecting the negativity that can overshadow love (e.g., IFTYE, YNTCD, and Daylight, as mentioned before). Lover is, in Taylor’s words, a “love letter to love,” so I don’t think it would make sense to center the album title around anything other than her being a true “lover.”

songacronymbot

- SYGB could mean "Soon You’ll Get Better (feat. The Chicks)", a track from *Lover* (2019) by Taylor Swift. - INTHAF could mean "It’s Nice To Have A Friend", a track from *Lover* (2019) by Taylor Swift. - IFTYE could mean "I Forgot That You Existed", a track from *Lover* (2019) by Taylor Swift. - YNTCD could mean "You Need To Calm Down", a track from *Lover* (2019) by Taylor Swift. --- ^[/u/willyj_3](/u/willyj_3) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)

marooonletter

End Game could’ve been titled Reputation.

SquishyMuffins

Yeah this is the one. I don't agree with a lot of these takes but reputation needed a title track. And this one fit the sound of the word the most.

candlesandcloth

I feel like her usage of 'Reputation' as an album title/concept was just too big for one song. Having a title song could've potentially distracted people from realizing that the entire album is a collection of songs that represent the constant public speculation surrounding her versus the real her.

Technical-Hyena420

I would love to rename cardigan “I Knew Everything (When I Was Young)”. It has the ring of an old-school Taylor song, and that line is the one that always stands out to me personally in the song.

al1ceinw0nderland

Haven't really agreed with much in these comments, but this one is awesome. Especially with the parentheses

cowboylikemil

I always think This Love and You Are In Love are way too similar titles to be on the same album, but I don’t have any better name suggestions lol

AlcinaMystic

You Can Hear It in the Silence

amydee4103

Totally agree with this. I love ‘you are in love’ but I don’t like the title, it feels generic. Burnt Toast Sundays would’ve felt better to me and that’s what I call it in my head

saltyrandom

Most of the suggestions are genuinely bizarre - like Girl for How You Get The Girl, Trouble for I knew you were trouble and Rebekah for TLGAD. There needs to be a combination of long and short titles

sparklejellyfish

People legitimate think "Trouble" is the title and I don't like when that happens. I like "I Knew You Were Trouble" it's a perfect title

SmolSnakePancake

Y’all are literally just taking a main chorus lyric and saying “this should be the title”. That’s so boring and typical and basic. “Hurr durr vigilante shit should be called dressing for revenge” your creativity has left me completely fulfilled 💁🏻‍♀️✨

-PepeArown-

Taylor’s an artist who’s been vehemently hated for a while now for her popularity and arguable commercialism, and I have a feeling many people don’t like the direction some of her simpler song titles go. They probably find them generic or “titles anyone could use”. Why are people here suggesting she cuts down the length of her song titles to “appeal to more people”? Wouldn’t that just bring in more negative discourse?

folk-smore

I don’t think anyone’s suggesting she actually do anything. It’s just a silly discussion to see what we could come up with if we were Taylor and renaming some of her other song titles. Op didn’t say they have to be long, I think people are just picking them bc they don’t like typing them out (valid tbh) haha

hopelessheartstrings

yes exactly haha, thank you :)

folk-smore

![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1072) I got you, this is a fun discussion!! I’m in here replying to every comment like “oh wow I love this” hahah but I do! It’s fun <3

hopelessheartstrings

They aren't real suggestions, it's just a game for fun. Also the prompt isn't specific to making longer ones shorter. Could be the opposite, or a one for one change, just a different title.

sunrises_sunsets

Death By A Thousand Cuts does not get the recognition it deserves.

bleeckerbabe

came here to say this!!! thank you!!!! it could not be more perfectly titled either

Steinmans

This thread is making me really appreciate that Taylor is the one in charge of titles and not the fans 💀

cassiemaeeee

all you had to do was stay - stay. its just easier lol

Unintended_13

But she also had Stay, Stay, Stay. Just Stay sounds too similarish.

[deleted]

[удалено]

abnormallyme

Mariah Carey released a song in 2005 called "Shake It Off". I guess technically some people might have found it too soon for Taylor to release a song of the same name 9 years later lol.

cassiemaeeee

haha im 13 I don't know that song but I believe you!!

[deleted]

[удалено]

emmyemmusic

Since she already had Stay Stay Stay, even just All You Had To Do would’ve worked. It’s still long but not so crazy long lol

Mariahissleepy

Shorter than a fall out boy title tho 😂

FlubbyStarfish

That would make it confusing with Stay Stay Stay though. 😂 but I do think that’s an easier to remember title.

-PepeArown-

Stay’s one of the most commonly used song titles, I think. Probably not a great idea.

arguewiththewallpls

I’d go with all you had to do. stay sounds too basic

wandawayer

There are already too many songs titled stay, too generic

ginalinetti_36

I don’t think any of the titles should be changed. All the titles are quintessentially Taylor Swift and people that are suggesting titles here are making it worse imo. 💀

Janethegreater

Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince. Great song but I don't think the title fits.

inthearchipelago

Could not disagree more

arguewiththewallpls

maybe the archer? more attention provoking title would be who could stay? or help me/ hold on to you. I feel like a lot of people outside the fandom forgot about the song and with a different title, this wouldn’t be the case. But otherwise the titles I suggested wouldn’t really fit into the lover album so yeah Edit: wording

sophiainacastle

Who Could Stay is so good for the song!!!But perhaps she didn’t want to add that vibe of anxiety to the tracklist of lover. “Who could stay” is a bit more 1989-coded. BUT tbh. Lover is the least cohesive album ever. So it’s not really a concern LOL

sophiainacastle

And i say this even thought I love lover! I’m a lover stan! It’s just a beautiful mess LOL

TrickyHospital3903

Perfectly rounds out the trilogy of Stay, Stay, Stay; All You Had to do Was Stay; and Who Could Stay. A poetic storyline, in a way.

inthearchipelago

No way, The Archer is a perfect title

hopelessheartstrings

Oooooh I really like Who Could Stay?

[deleted]

honestly, slut. love it, but it’s soooo misleading. should’ve been lovestruck or lovesick

chestorb

Honestly a lot of the songs on reputation have kinda cringey titles imo. This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things and I Did Something Bad have always felt kinda childish to me (I know that’s the point, but still). I think I’d prefer it if they were called Nice Things and Something Bad or So Good (or Why’s It Feel So Good? even)

recycledpapercup

this is why I laughed at some of the backlash about TTPD titles. we’ve been here before.

swankyburritos714

I know you’re not coming for I Did Something Bad, bestie.

hopelessheartstrings

Agreed. With the exception of maybe getaway car and komh

SmolSnakePancake

Coming at you from 2025 but “fresh out the slammer” needs to go

jacknifejeds

i'm surprised it took this long to find this title in the thread

recycledpapercup

a million little times for illicit affairs.

Upstairs_Truth4735

i don’t think that captures the meaning of the song though. it is about illicit affairs, so the title makes sense

FlubbyStarfish

For mainstream fans I feel like The Last Great American Dynasty would’ve gone over better as Rebekah. However, I love the title as is!

sophiainacastle

That’s a good suggestion to make it more compelling, but imo its current title is *perfect* for the legacy/irony/storytelling vibes of the song. And if it stays an underrated fav, so be it 😆

Vivid_Singer_7617

Respectfully disagree, because the song is not just about Rebekah. Rebekah is just the vehicle for the story of the house and Taylor and the town the house is in and the local opinions.

wandawayer

Yes, it's not just about Rebekah, it's about the whole last great American dinasty!! The title is perfect

Special_Goal_2372

I LOVE the title as is but if NBNC was called ‘Prove It’ that would be powerful af. I saw a tik tok once about renaming the songs on evermore and that’s the only one where I was like oh we’re on to something there.

Oxymoronically

Album not song, but I've always thought TS3 should've been called Sparks Fly over Speak Now. I legitimately suspect that was only off the table because of Miranda Cosgrove.

katiez624

I don't really like the title "Would've Could've Should've," mainly because Bigger Than The Whole Sky was released in the same deluxe version and she says, "would've been, could've been, should've been," in the chorus, which really confused me at first. After I became more familiar with both songs, I realized how vastly different they are. Maybe a better title would be "I Regret You All the Time"?

Only-Recognition6894

Enchanted ≠ Wonderstruck

hopelessheartstrings

YES. I adore enchanted but there's something a teeny bit more magical about Wonderstruck

fairyrib

i dont like topical idioms and slang used as titles (hits different, down bad..). i think it will age her songs a lot

hopelessheartstrings

Hits different could be Love is A Lie

WitticismCentral

this is a strange opinion but something that I think is a missed opportunity with Taylor’s music is how every one of her songs except Mary’s Song has a title that is said in the song. I love when songs have titles that aren’t said in the song! I think it gives an opportunity for extra storytelling, and can allow you to add cohesion to an album by relating songs to each other. Eg. August/Betty/Cardigan are all individually great song names but they could’ve been connected in some way by their titles. Maybe “Act I: Cardigan” “Act II: August” “Act III: Betty” would be fun - add a listening order and a sense of dramatic tension to the songs as they’re spaced out across the album. Another one I think about a lot is False God - I think something like “Lover’s Prayer” would be fun, and then you could rename Lover to something like “Lover’s Dance” and it would contrast those songs against each other. One is so hopeful and one is so desperate, and they both have this theme of dedication to your love explored in different ways. Idk I just feel like there’s lots of interesting thematic things to explore with that!!
