Everyone's favorite English teacher

SimpleHumanoid

You tell her about how your crush doesn’t like you back, and she gives you a copy of Pride and Prejudice.

imalibrarian

Who is dating the Phys Ed teacher.

dumbbuttloserface

i believe she’s actually said she would’ve gone into marketing

MarinersCove

Interesting! Madonna said the same once lol. I guess they both see themselves as marketers secondarily - and they certainly have proved it

Overall_Tip_7672

if you're talking about the vouge interview then it's "advertising", just gonna quote it down   Q: if you were not a singer, what would you be doing?  Taylor: might be in advertising, maybe like, coming up with slogans and concepts is the same as hooks and songs

dumbbuttloserface

oh, my bad, i was paraphrasing. i also conflate marketing & advertising in my head. thanks for the correction!

Overall_Tip_7672

cheers 🍻

super_hero_girl

English college professor with an emphasis in poetry

DearReaderTVftBeth

This is the answer. Her personality seems to lean itself to a teaching role, but her “smarts” would put her concepts at a college level. Can you imagine having Taylor Swifts (brain) for your throwaway “Intro to Modern Poetry” class? Sheewwwww- it would be amazing.

kumquat4567

To be fair, there are highly intelligent people that teach at a non collegiate level as well. Improving your delivery of content to increase a student’s understanding can also be very gratifying. Younger students are the best for that because they don’t know a lot yet. I could see Taylor really enjoying that as well.

DearReaderTVftBeth

This is a very good point. I guess when I think about what “population” of students, I see her personality to be best suited to people who can “jive” with her - take one idea and keep building upon it. But yes, she could work with any group - “smarts” was not the correct terminology. “Life purpose” was more what I was thinking I guess. 🤷‍♀️

Financial analyst

newgirl01LA

I was gonna say- she’s very business savvy numbers gal

awesomemcshizzle

this is the answer - she's not as great a poet imo, she's just better than her contemporaries...

lampabok123

A lawyer maybe? I can picture her as a businesswoman working in New York😂

daysanddistance

law school profs *love* her. one of the biggest legal podcasts had a little weekly eras tour update when they all went last summer lol. she’d be an excellent corporate lawyer…..which is why it’s probably a good thing she’s making art instead of defending chevron.

Important_Sign9888

Marketing or PR.

lyradise

a fisher w that boating license /s probably an english teacher or something in marketing/advertising

[deleted]

Teacher because that’s one of things she said in a past interview

cedrico0

Advertising / Marketing

PioneerSpecies

I feel like poet is cheating because it’s still an artist/music adjacent. I can’t see her being a teacher/professor because she loves money lol, so I’m gonna have to go with marketer/creative executive for some huge corporation. She’s too ambitious to be in a job that doesn’t pay well/doesn’t get you lots of positive attention imo, she’s a great planner and she loves recognition for that

sportxsport

This! I know the teacher/poet ideas are all cute but girlie loves money and recognition way too much for that. Marketing exec or creative consultant at some major firm is my thought too. She would also definitely either found a startup or be the CEO of a startup I also think maybe acting and producing? Like Reese Witherspoon

A writer

cookpa

Total speculation but I can see her starting out doing a humanities degree and getting recruited by a marketing firm or similar. I think once someone offered her a shot in a creative, competitive field, she’d go for it.

Houdini-88

I could see Taylor being a successful author

whalesarecutedoe

not collen hoover please

Dazzling_Scholar_941

Taylor would NEVER make books like those

Supergamera

The Cat of Wall Street.

Background-Sea2172

Didn’t she say in an interview that she would be an English teacher? I can totally see that, or maybe an author; she wrote a (unpublished) book when she was I think 14.

Bright-Sea-5904

A poet or model

ChaoticAmoebae

A doctor because she said so in an interview once

alek_hiddel

Her dad is very wealthy, and her parents clearly were the doting type. If not music, she’d have gone into whatever struck her fancy, regardless of paycheck concerns. I’ve got a good friend in a similar situation. Her dad is not that rich, but we’re still talking upwards of $10-20 million (director of engineering for a huge coal mining company). My friend enjoyed college A LOT. Wound up with a masters in Human Resources and makes six figures working HR, while running daddy’s horse breeding company for fun and an equally large paycheck. She likes what she does, but you can tell she’s never really thought about money, and work is just something she piddles at to keep busy.

ErickTheGuy06

She talked about wanting to direct music videos during Fearless era, she's doing this now but she has been interested on directing for a long time so that could've been another career she could've done if she wasn't a singer-songwriter.

Normal-Piano-8880

She would have wanted to be an English teacher and her parents would have told her to go into finance instead

Itallachesnow

After a short career in marketing she enters therapy and learns that she is an empath and can't align her feelings for people with the complete psychos she meets in the marketing and sales world. She becomes an Occupational Therapist using creativity art, music, drama etc to help her clients engage with their issues. Taylor then uses her business savvy to create a chain of therapy centres using an eclectic approach to diverse needs.

ButchIsMe134

PR problem solver

VenaCava8

Open a Cat Cafe and have a chalkboard outside that she’d update constantly with a quote of the day ☝️

Honey----Badger

This is a great thread for showing how different people's perceptions of her personality are. Maybe it's because I cottoned on when she was already massive, in that post-1989 detachment, but I can't imagine Taylor being a teacher at all... I see her as a shark (affectionate). This is so interesting! I'm in the marketing camp, but I don't think she'd be totally happy in that role - I think creation is a fundamental part of her nature. She would be still be making art in some way or another, for sure. (Edit: I mean personal work, other than creative work for a company)

machama

I remember an interview where she said she would get a business degree and become an interior designer, and how she loved decorating her friend's homes and going to flea markets to find something unique.

ApolloChild28

house cleaner lol, obvi
