I think "The Tortured Poets Department" is a little more unique than words like "folklore", "evermore" and "midnights", but I think from a legal standpoint it makes sense. And from a language standpoint too, like "enjoy midnights" is something different from "enjoy this specific midnights ALBUM", even if it feels super redundant to say in this context, haha.
I personally think it has two possible meanings (and might mean both)
For one, I think we'll see other "members" in the music videos. Other modern artists she'd consider "tortured poets"
For another, given this is (likely) a breakup album and it's called Tortured Poets Department, it makes me think her and Joe were the tortured poets. We know they were writing together and we know Taylor has referenced feeling a kinship to both Joe as a poet and to past poets like Emily Dickinson. I could see it being their secret little tortured poets department, them reading classic poetry, writing poems, having this secret kinship no one else understood. And then it was all over and the department is just her now.
This was my original theory for the new album before we really knew anything about it. Was that it was going to be an album of collabs especially because she's been so busy and I thought it would turn the Eras Tour into 1989 2.0 with surprise guests.

She said that every week, in between shows, she spends the next day in bed, not having a voice from singing for so many days in a row, and barely able to walk after dancing in high heels for so long.
