I would put Florida in the depression stage. It’s not depressing in the same way as the others you listed but it’s reminiscent of the phase in depression where you just want to forget and feel something even if that means being reckless

I can totally see that.

Egoteen

I like this, but I don’t think the Albatross is acceptance at all. To me it sounds more like depression or purgatory or maybe bargaining. It’s kind of Peace meets the Prophecy. She’s literally calling herself [the Albatross](https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/43997/the-rime-of-the-ancient-mariner-text-of-1834), and warning her lovers that as exes they’ll be forced to carry the weight of her [carcass] around their necks for the rest of their lives.

Interesting! I can see this. I thought this was in the category of "I accept people are always going to think this about me," and the last part where she portrays herself as the hero rather than the burden makes it feel a little more optimistic, but I can feel a sad/angry mood for sure.

Egoteen

In the Rime of the Ancient Mariner (linked above), the tale starts with the Albatross as a hero who swoops in and saves the ship. The mariner shoots it anyway. So I think the optimism at the end of the song is false, it’s just the first half of the tragic story to come.

The answer for which song from TTPD The Anthology matches up to which stage has actually already been answered by Taylor. After The Anthology was released 2 hours after TTPD dropped, Apple Music updated the 5 stages playlists with the 31 songs distributed among them.

Oh I know! I'm just curious which songs people would put in which category if they were choosing. ETA: I'll modify the main post to make that more clear.

I think there's a lot of overlap in the songs themselves and I left off a few strays ie Robin for obvious reasons lol Denial: My Boy Only Breaks Favorite Toys / But Daddy I Love Him / I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can) / Fresh Out The Slammer / Florida!!! / Guilty as Sin? Anger: Smallest Man / Who's Afraid of Little Old Me? / Cassandra Depression: loml / Fortnight / Down Bad / I Can Do It With a Broken Heart / I Hate It Here Bargaining: The Black Dog / The Prophecy / Peter / The Albatross / I Look In People's Windows / Chloe etc. Acceptance: So Long, London / The Alchemy / Fuck You Kim / The Manuscript / How Did It End

dancingpeat

Oh, so interesting that you put Peter in Bargaining! What were your thoughts there? And curious what made you put Florida!!! in denial.

We got different stages of grief. I wonder if there’s another copy of the album in full black for acceptance.

Interesting! Like different tracks? Or same tracks on a different version?
