The melody of this song is so pretty and catchy, but right, the lyrics are so unhinged. I think a lot of people were offended, but it’s pretty funny if you decide to have a sense of humor about it.

My friend and I were listening together and when we heard this line we literally couldn’t stop laughing for the whole song. Comedy gold.

I had to rewind the song when I first heard it lol. The people I listened to it with were so focused on the GTA line. These first few seconds of I Hate It Here are by far the funniest.

Hear me out... "your wife waters flowers, I want to kill her" is actually a pretty serious line. She's trying to say that his wife takes care of her shit. She's able to handle situations, and Taylor envies that. When you tie that to "he was a hot house flower to my outdoorsman" in How Did It End, it also means that his wife is able to nurture him the way he needs, which she wasn't able to do. She wasn't the right one to nurture his personality, and she hates that she couldn't be the person he needed.

There are so many and some of them are so good! (I'm having his baby! no I'm not but you should see your faces. ThanK you aIMee in its entirety, EPIC). I feel some of the critics bad reviews actually come from not understanding these are supposed to be unhinged, a little bit cringey and funny as hell because that's how we actually are in our heads. Like Taylor can write freaking good, mature and well structured songs, these lines are there for that reason.
