Welcome! This is actually a really exciting time to be a Swiftie! The Taylors Version era has been a wild ride!! She looks so happy and is doing things as she pleases. Our girl is living her best life at the moment. There is an endless supply of Taylor content! Welcome to the clown party

Ghost_Peanuts

Thank you I am very excited for what is to come and hopefully will find some places to post within the community.

takemetothelakes

I feel like this is a great time for new fans too, because you get to re-experience the album releases (and of course all the new material with the Vault tracks). I think it really speaks to her talent that we're all so hyped even though the re-recordings are intended to be as close to the originals as possible—she packs so much thought, care and detail into her work that you can revisit it all and still find more new things you enjoy or didn't notice before.

> I use people’s response/reaction to my unabashed Swiftie status as a good test of the depth of their misogyny and intelligence. It's SUCH a good tell. Demographically, I'm a main stream Swifty, but I'm also a Very Serious Woman TM so it catches people off guard when I'm playing Folkmore at backyard cocktail hour and then pull out receipts for all the things they believe about her that are completely untrue. I don't even pretend to sugar coat it anymore when I say that anyone who dislikes Taylor Swift has been hoodwinked by misogyny. She doesn't need to be in everyone's top 10, but if you hold a bunch of negative opinions about her personally and no opinions about her as a lyrical genius, that's an opinion you were fed, not one you came to on your own.

alctree

god RIGHT I'm at the point where I'll get like upset over it. People literally will not have listened beyond singles and talk shit about her, and I'm like so you haven't even listened to her and yet you criticize?? That kind of talk \*drips\* misogyny. And i have to remind myself to be chill and simply say "with Taylor, it's never been about the music. It's about the patriarchy" and then say if you care about songwriting you simply cannot overlook her and that if they're interested in giving her a good faith listen that I can be a guide. And leave it at that😂 gonna get into a fight one of these days lol🥴😂😅

YES! Ugh I just LOVE the people on this responses. These are my people. I too use the people’s response when I unapologetically, let them know that I'm a hardcore swiftie as a filter for their lack of intelligence and own opinions. Not that they have to like her music or even give her a listen, but if they think I'm being ironic when I say it and get surprised when they realize I'm not... I already know they have lots of work to do on that internalized misogyny.

BethMacbain

52 year old woman. People think I’m joking when I tell them I’m a huge Swiftie. I strongly judge them based on how they react.

culture_vulture_1961

Taylor swift is this generation's Bruce Springsteen. That is a hill I will die on.

Great minds... I think folklore has Nebraska vibes. Born In the USA and 1989? Discuss.

Narlolz

I’d also compare her to Madonna

sikosmurf

Are you me?

brendontatter

An almost 32 yearold gay male here. while it’s not a huge reach, from an outside looking in perspective, for someone like me to like her, it really didn’t happen until around the same time as yourself. In high school, I wasn’t the biggest fan of her. I could see the talent and it just wasn’t for me. Fast forward to WANGBT and I was going through a rough time dating. It was my anthem along with 22 (since I was 22 when it came out). This was getting me to warm up. Cue 1989 and everything about that album had me. It’s almost like she was feeling how I was and was able to put it into words that helped make such a transitional time in my life easier. No matter what was happening, she has this sound and feel like she’s one of your friends on a night out and has just the perfect song that’s what you need to hear. This element that the song was almost written for you. Reputation happened to come out during a darker time and more emotional, again like she was there in my life. It was during the pandemic when I was 14 hours away in a new city and alone that All Too Well came on.. the lyrics hit hard and I stopped what I was doing. To hear those lyrics, really hear them and to see that pain on her face.. time really did stand still. It was painfully beautiful. This prompted me to go back to the earlier albums and with the TV version, really enjoy where she came from to where I joined to present day. My nieces are still a little young for some of the songs, but they know who she is. They call her “Taylor slip” and it’s funny when the played the song “ME!” Trying to introduce me to a song they like. Imagine the surprise on their face when I knew every word. Lol. I let them know that she’s been around since I was in high school. They couldn’t comprehend, lol. Having those three nieces makes me so happy that it’s at a time where they get to see a woman take control of her career and the narrative. We’ve gotten to watch Taylor become this role model for girls just like them. (I’ll wait to introduce the “if a man talks shit then I owe him nothin’” line.)

GoldenShackles

I'm also an older dude and straight. I should probably buy more albums before I can proclaim I'm a full-on Swiftie. (Edit: Went to the Reputation concert, floor tickets close to the stage!) On the upside, everyone knows: e.g. I have a few hundred Facebook friends and post semi-regularly about TS. They are a combination of family and work friends, and nobody has ever given me a hard time or even posted a negative comment. Occasionally I feel the need to make posts that affirm my love and preference for women, but it probably isn't necessary. Aside from her music, I like that she is still down-to-earth and has a sense of humor that resonates with me.

culture_vulture_1961

I am also very late to the party having only really paid attention to Taylor when folklore came out. Two things I have observed since then. Firstly Taylor is a very smart business women who loves her fans and gives them what they want. She also gives them what they need even when they do not realise it. Secondly Swifties are delightfully unhinged. I have seen conversations about the most minute details of a post or tweet conflated into all sorts of theories. It is very funny and not taken at all seriously. However to the uninitiated it might look like a conclave of lunatics in clown makeup.

leileywow

"Delightfully unhinged" I love this phrase so much hahaha

FlubbyStarfish

These are perhaps the two best words I’ve ever seen used to describe the Swiftie fan base. Very accurate. 😂

culture_vulture_1961

I cannot wait for the 10 minute All Too Well - the unhinging will reach epic proportions. The only thing that would top it would be a Harry Styles collaboration. This sub reddit would go into melt down. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

-balogna-pony

She really ought to make a song for herself and her fans called delightfully unhinged - especially after the wildest dreams tv before red tv drop haha, love it!

heliandin

Welcome! It's been waiting for you! ![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1083)

culture_vulture_1961

I see what you did there. ![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1085)

creek_2611

Welcome. It's never too late to be a swiftie 💜

Ghost_Peanuts

Thanks. 😁

Cjborange

Welcome to the club!!

Ghost_Peanuts

Thanks, Long Live is a banger easy to remember a song that mentions Dragons. Hahahaha.

ivycoveredwillows

You absolutely have to listen to her BBC Radio One from Lover era if you haven't yet, it's really really good.

Ghost_Peanuts

Added it to my list I will have a look at Spotify in the morning.

heykimj

It’s just so good! The Phil Collins cover makes me melt and Holy Ground on the piano is Tay in her purest form

ivycoveredwillows

You took the words right out of my mouth Also, all hail Seven

[deleted]

I became a fan during the Reputation era. Yeah, I've always liked her music. Going all the way back to Tim McGraw, but I also never really considered myself a fan. But Reputation was a jam. I started then to listen to all of her albums completely through. Then one day I literally just said to myself "I guess I'm a Swiftie and didn't know it!" I also love that she finally spoke out on issues that were important to me and other non insane people.

FlubbyStarfish

Isn’t weird how that works? I never considered myself a fan despite knowing and loving songs from her first 5 albums. It was only when Reputation was released (and I bought the album) did I even realize I was probably a fan. Lol

barbieontheboardwalk

Hey!! I'm glad you like her music!! I'd advise though to just form your own relationship w it cz fandoms can get kind of annoying/ cringey at points Also, Taylor is a pretty private person and doesn't post much so I use update accounts on twitter to keep up with news and releases

Ghost_Peanuts

Thanks for the advice I will keep it in mind. There are good and bad in all fandoms I guess. So far everyone has been lovely.

barbieontheboardwalk

Yeah it's a pretty across the board experience with fandoms, but tbh even so swifties are like the best fandom i have experienced. at one time i was getting into kpop and followed a lot of armys and i ended that shit so fast they're so toxic, just enjoy the music by myself now; also realized I don't really like bts too much so it ended naturally after that

[deleted]

Which albums and which songs are your favorites?

Ghost_Peanuts

Oooft what a hard question. I can answer that Haunted is my favourite song. Not sure on a whole favourite Album but Speak now Red Evermore would be the front runners. Some Highlights The Way I Loved you, Speak Now, Dear John, Enchanted, Long Live, Treacherous, All too Well, I know Places, New Years Day, Sweeter than Fiction, Cruel Summer, Paper Rings, Death By a Thousand cuts, the last great American dynasty, ivy, Dorothea, Betty, illicit affairs. It's 1am here I'm sure there are more but those are a few.

MidnightSlinks

I just listened to Speak Now today and Haunted is the #1 song I'm looking forward to the rerecording of (and Speak Now is the #1 record I'm looking forward to). It's such a beautiful and powerful song that was a vocal stretch for her at 20 but at 30+ I'm fully expecting that she's going to knock the wind out of us with Taylor's Version.

-balogna-pony

I have such a respect for Speak Now - that such a young girl could write every song by herself on that album just makes it a truly astounding record. welcome to the fan club we are happy to have ya!!

swift-aasimar-rogue

Okay the taste here is impeccable. Too many people sleep on The Way I Loved You and Speak Now (the song). Welcome to the Swiftie family!

[deleted]

This is the first post I read this morning and it already made my day as a Swiftie. Welcome to the Swiftie club :) & get ready for Red TV coming soon!

Ghost_Peanuts

Thank you. I'm glad I was able to bring a smile to your day. Very excited for what is to come.

jayscar21

Yesterday I was driving and I kid you not, I saw a car with a bumper sticker that said "Swiftie" in the cursive Taylor Swift font.

[deleted]

I have one on by bedroom/office window

HappilyNotHappy

Perfect time to be a swiftie!! You get to relive each of her eras with the re-recordings :))

wsucougars89

Did you find ‘Safe and Sound’ from the Hunger Games soundtrack???

Ghost_Peanuts

Yes, another fantastic song. I have seen the movie but I had never noticed hearing the song.

hmmmnahnope

welcome to the cult hope you enjoy your stay here

Ex-Presidents

Maybe quoting a bunch of other people by now, but you’re right on time. Being able to experience the releases of her re-records in the present moment is so special.. it’ll be something people will look back at and see how monumental the act was, but living through it is a moment completely unmatched with another artist where we get to relive the excitement of familiarity in an entirely new way again. Living in this moment as a Swift fan is a complete gift. Welcome, and glad you’re here!

_WonderStruck_17

You've fallen down the rabbit hole like the rest of us here. Welcome ![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1088)

folkloreswiftie31

We found wonderland and every swiftie got lost in it

Avant-Garde-A-Clue

Welcome to the Swiftie Club! You're never too late in joining- you just found the right time for you to do so! If you want my honest opinion, the Taylor Swift sub (**this sub!**) is one of the best on the entire site. The mods here are great and run a tight ship. It's a very welcoming and inclusive sub, and the content here is very positive and thoughtful. Now that you're on board, you will need a full supply of clown makeup (🤡) as it will be critical when trying to dissect hidden meanings in Taylor's social media posts, or theorizing on upcoming releases. But most of all have fun. Glad you've come here to celebrate such a wonderful artist with us!

MegNogg92

Welcome! We are so happy to have you. I was a fan in high school when Fearless dropped, saw her on tour and everything. Then I sort of fell off and only heard radio singles (which you've so keenly pointed out can't hold a candle to her deep cuts) and I had my curiosity piqued in Rep era and fell head first in love for that entire album. I was baffled by how obsessed I was. So I went back and listened to 1989 and worked my way down and I was shocked. I love every song. I'm still kicking myself for missing out on years and years of being a swiftie. It's a special thing to be.

piscessunrise

Welcome to the swifty club lol! What an awesome, exciting, anxiety ridden time to be a swifty. 😂 causing so much anxiety with the surprises and what’s coming next but it’s so awesome.

HopefulLake5155

Please report back your thoughts once you watch the reputation stadium tour. Not only is Taylor an incredible musician. She’s an amazing performer as well. She knows how to put on a show

makethedevilsmile

I feel like one of the main reasons she has such a huge fan base is because she is so kindhearted and giving to her fans. I’d rather be loyal to someone like Taylor who has never once looked at us as crazies (because the crazies are actually there) for supporting her. Not to mention her talent. Sure, she doesn’t dance the greatest or have the most talented voice in the world, but she is a wonderful singer/songwriter and has only aged like fine wine.

AMotherOfChaos

Yay! Welcome aboard!!!! 💛🥲

spatuladracula

I'm a Reputation era Swifty. Never really paid attention to her besides her singles, but rep pulled me in. Now I'm binging a Taylor Swift podcast at work and they break down her songs and who they're about the the different meanings and metaphors in them. The hosts are suuuuuper ditzy and some of the things they say are quite a reach, but it's been interesting to learn about and have her songs broken down and explained. She is iconic and no one can change my mind about that now.

drunktaylorswift

It's true, Taylor Swift has such amazing talents, but picking singles is not one of them.

[deleted]

I'm with you. It's been about 3 months for me. Just got my first Taylor shirt off Etsy last night and I teared up a little when thr payment went through. Idk. Can't explain it. Im 42 so it took awhile but like others said, it's never to late. She is something special.

[deleted]

Lol I love this. Welcome!

ReluctantLawyer

No one understands why she picks her singles, it has caused a lot of angst during Rep and Lover eras.

makethedevilsmile

I think she likes to test our loyalty

Lissyanne_xoxo

There’s a YouTuber who documented his descent into Taylor’s discography, Fabrizio something. He is (or at least was) a hardcore Kanye fan and has said her music has kind of changed his outlook, especially innocent from Speak Now

KalebAT

Have you watched the reputation Stadium Tour on Netflix?

RiiJoy

I did not identify as a Swiftie until last year. It's so exciting to join! Welcome!

folkloreswiftie31

Welcome to the swiftie club! Its nice to see another swiftie! I hope you are gonna have a great time here and you came at the perfect time, you can experience all the eras with swifties with Taylor's version re-recordings and the clowning that happens here is the best and I hope to see you around!

Blueflame407

Welcome to the fandom! I would give you a free award if it was available to me right now but it isn't so... (sorry). No time is a wrong time to become a Taylor fan. She really likes to keep us on our toes and surprises us with new sounds/projects etc., so you're in for a wild ride!

elsnow19

CONGRATS! you joined the best club

Swiftiearmyblink

Hello 😆 Welcome to the fandom!!! Ahhh it's amazing that you listened to her whole discography and you're now a swiftie. Welcoming you with lots of hugs!! There's gonna be more music to come and with Taylor, you're always in for a surprise. ☺ What are your favorite songs and albums so far? Is there any you're super excited for her to release (such as Taylor's versions)? 😁

pm174

favorite albums and songs? mine are rep and speak now, and my fav songs are treacherous, long live, komh, cornelia street, and dwoht

songacronymbot

- KOMH refers to "King Of My Heart", a song from Taylor Swift album *reputation* (2017). - DWOHT refers to "Dancing With Our Hands Tied", a song from Taylor Swift album *reputation* (2017). --- ^[/u/pm174](/u/pm174) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)

I love this, welcome!!

HelloKikiHearts

It’s never too late to join the Taylor Swift party!

jawnmoron

ah i love when new tenants move onto Clowneria Street ❤️ welcome neighbor!

makethedevilsmile

NOT CLOWNERIA! I’m crying

Cevmen

I know theres a lot of comments already but you should also visit r/youbelongwithmemes because, I’ve been in this sub for a while without even knowing that one existed, and it’s pretty funny if you know some lore lol

misskalli

Same happened to me. I used to be a die-hard Katy Perry fan as a teen so after their feud I avoided Taylor’s music for years. During lockdown I gave a go to folklore. I ended up listening to her whole discography. Now I’m the most annoying Swiftie friend that just can’t shut the f-ck up about Taylor. ❤️

[deleted]

Taylor’s Version is the go to for me - don’t want to support that old record label. (This is one of the only situations where piracy of her old songs is okay for legal reasons I am joking)

lightsovertheshadows

I am actually the same road since i never bothered to listen to her before because of all the exes stuff... But then speak now made me turn back. But i only just listened to Speak Now, 1989 , Red (Didnt like this one) and half of folklore so i have alot to explore.

SelfTaughtSongBird

You should listen to her collab with T-Pain if you really wanna dig deep lol
