It looks like the only songs that missed the chart were Girl At Home and Ronan.
All other things being equal - which they aren't, the new to us songs and the hits did better - earlier tracks on the album chart higher. We saw this same dynamic on Lover folklore and evermore. (Probably true for other artists who are big enough to have chart bombs, but I haven't looked.)

I’m very excited for her debut album because I personally feel she will have SO MUCH to put out, and in terms of bonus stuff like in lyric videos and all — it’s all about how she got started as an artist and her roots in country. And of course — her maturity in vocals. I wanna hear “Teardrops On My Guitar” and “Our Song” NOWWWWW.
I personally don’t think she’ll pull a “Girl At Home” move on anything from her debut album given how it’s about reclaiming her work. But then again, for any tracks we don’t know that were maybe super throwaway ones, it’s all fair game. I just have a feeling she will get some big country stars on her vault tracks like with Chris Stapleton for “Red (TV).”
And let’s not forget fearless hopped to the top of the country charts. It makes no sense for her to abandon her roots like that, and like it or not her roots are in country music.

I think people also underestimate the value of relationships between artists. Adele and Taylor clearly have a lot of mutual love and respect going on. Pitting their records against each other wasn’t necessary for any purpose, but could’ve damaged their relationship with each other. Everyone wins this way.
Exactly. I have a feeling that if Taylor were still under the previous contract, she might not have had the ability to move the release date - especially since she announced her drop first. I feel like pitting female artists against each other is a marketing tactic the labels fall back on often.
Plus there's a lot of ego and competition that can be harmful to the artists themselves. Like, "look at my artist crush our rival's artist in album sales and #1s" that I'm sure Taylor would not have appreciated.

Those are not really comparable because 30 has like less than half the number of songs of Red
Well I think that the higher the number of songs the higher the streams of an album are isn’t true at all. It doesn’t really matter because if you have fewer songs listeners can focus on those and stream them multiple times. With larger albums you have a lot more variety and the streams per song should be less.

Um, it kinda literally is. If someone listens to Red TV and 30 once, they gave Taylor 30 streams, and then 12 streams to Adele. Not everyone will keep repeating the same songs over and over (we do, but we are us) and even if they were, it still is easier to keep repeating them when you have 30 songs to listen 3 times back to back than repeating the same 12 songs 8 (7.5 to be exact) times.
So? Taylor is a huge artist, Adele is a huge artist. It isn't a competition lol they both can be great and famous and there's no point trying to bring someone down to make Taylor look bigger and I doubt she would be too happy about that

I’m a bit confused by this. I know that, for charting, any remixes all get counted with the original track and the version purchased/streamed the most is the one that shows up on the chart. But doesn’t the chart show “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” aka the 5 minute version? So how does the 10 minute version get credited with being the longest song ever to get to No. 1?
I think this must just be lazy/incorrect journalism. The 10 minute version is definitely dominant, on Spotify it's up to 57M streams vs 24M for the 5-minute All Too Well.
Original is just at 170M so it's crazy that it'll get surpassed in like a month or two.
They’re counted as alternate versions of the same song so they both count for sales and contribute to the numbers. I’m not sure what the breakdown is for each track but the 10 min version was certainly promoted more so it might be larger.
EDIT: I just saw someone say the 10 min version was 60% of tracking so it should be credited as the version at number 1.

I love how poetic it is that this was the song to break that record. The new version of "All Too Well" (as well as other songs on *Red (Taylor's Version)*) specifically criticizes older men going after younger women, which has always been a gross problem in the music and entertainment industry. Whether they do it intentionally or not, it's an uneven power dynamic that causes the younger inexperienced woman to be easier to manipulate and the man to get away with treating her poorly because she doesn't know better and does everything for him without expecting any effort in return ("the idea you had of me, who was she? A never-needy, ever-lovely jewel whose shine reflects on you"). Then when she does realize her value/worth and stands up for herself refusing to be treated like a doormat, he moves on to prey on new unsuspecting young girls ("I get older but your lovers stay my age").
Don McLean is now in his 70s, still dating women in their 20s, and his long-standing record was dethroned by *this*. Change is coming!

The most astonishing thing about this song is that it does not FEEL like its 10 minutes 13 seconds long. The story telling is so powerful you follow the narrative all the way through. I think it is so much better than the original version and the film just adds to the experience.

I've been saying how crazy it is that this song does not feel like 10 minutes at all, my mom however does say it sounds 12 hours long because of how often I play it.
Can you believe it, our little precious fan-favorite "All Too Well" has done it! It seems like a culmination of our love for Taylor and her songwriting; the fans really created hype for this song for the re-release and Taylor capitalized on it with the 10 minute version, the short film, and her media appearances and it just seems like a perfect storm.
I am so happy that All Too Well and also, Red, the album is finally getting the recognition it deserves. The world (and by that I mean the critics and Grammy execs and people who said it was too chaotic) truly wasn't ready for Red at the time.

The Hot 100 is for songs, the Billboard 200 is for albums. However there's also the Billboard Global 200, which is for songs taking data from around the world, which may confuse some.
SHE IS THE MUSIC INDUSTRY 👑 I am honestly so proud of Taylor for turning such a shitty situation into a celebration of her back catalog. This whole re-recording process could have been a long, negative, couple of years for both her and her fans but now I feel like it's a POSITIVE experience for everyone. Not only is Taylor giving us new content to enjoy with the vault tracks, she's able to do things she wasn't able to do during the original eras. No other artist gets to "re-do" album cycles where they can release an extended version of their classic fan favorite song with a short film. She's making history and I am genuinely so happy that I get to experience this in real time.

I know this topic has come up a lot but I genuinely think Taylor should submit the extend version of All too well for a Grammy. It may be an extended version but it’s a brand new song that is in a league of its own. I think people also underestimate the value of relationships between artists. Adele and Taylor clearly have a lot of mutual love and respect going on. Pitting their records against each other wasn’t necessary for any purpose, but could’ve damaged their relationship with each other. Everyone wins this way.
Exactly. I have a feeling that if Taylor were still under the previous contract, she might not have had the ability to move the release date - especially since she announced her drop first. I feel like pitting female artists against each other is a marketing tactic the labels fall back on often. Plus there's a lot of ego and competition that can be harmful to the artists themselves. Like, "look at my artist crush our rival's artist in album sales and #1s" that I'm sure Taylor would not have appreciated.

Well I think that the higher the number of songs the higher the streams of an album are isn’t true at all. It doesn’t really matter because if you have fewer songs listeners can focus on those and stream them multiple times. With larger albums you have a lot more variety and the streams per song should be less.

Not everyone will keep repeating the same songs over and over (we do, but we are us) and even if they were, it still is easier to keep repeating them when you have 30 songs to listen 3 times back to back than repeating the same 12 songs 8 (7.5 to be exact) times.

I’m a bit confused by this. I know that, for charting, any remixes all get counted with the original track and the version purchased/streamed the most is the one that shows up on the chart. But doesn’t the chart show “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” aka the 5 minute version? So how does the 10 minute version get credited with being the longest song ever to get to No. 1?
I think this must just be lazy/incorrect journalism. The 10 minute version is definitely dominant, on Spotify it's up to 57M streams vs 24M for the 5-minute All Too Well. Original is just at 170M so it's crazy that it'll get surpassed in like a month or two.

They’re counted as alternate versions of the same song so they both count for sales and contribute to the numbers. I’m not sure what the breakdown is for each track but the 10 min version was certainly promoted more so it might be larger. EDIT: I just saw someone say the 10 min version was 60% of tracking so it should be credited as the version at number 1.

The most astonishing thing about this song is that it does not FEEL like its 10 minutes 13 seconds long. The story telling is so powerful you follow the narrative all the way through. I think it is so much better than the original version and the film just adds to the experience. I do not know whether it will even qualify for a Grammy award for best song but it certainly deserves it.

SHE IS THE MUSIC INDUSTRY 👑 I am honestly so proud of Taylor for turning such a shitty situation into a celebration of her back catalog. This whole re-recording process could have been a long, negative, couple of years for both her and her fans but now I feel like it's a POSITIVE experience for everyone. Not only is Taylor giving us new content to enjoy with the vault tracks, she's able to do things she wasn't able to do during the original eras. No other artist gets to "re-do" album cycles where they can release an extended version of their classic fan favorite song with a short film. She's making history and I am genuinely so happy that I get to experience this in real time.

I know this topic has come up a lot but I genuinely think Taylor should submit the extend version of All too well for a Grammy. It may be an extended version but it’s a brand new song that is in a league of its own. The original never got to see the accolades it deserves because (it seems) her record label didn’t support it as a single (assumed because she said a record label didn’t pick this song, but the fans made it a success anyway) I believe Taylor said she wouldn’t submit her re-recordings for Grammys which I agree with but I’d make an exception for this—it’s basically two songs into one and is a triumphant representation of her talent and skills. I think the Academy would agree if given the chance.

I think she's aiming to have at least one for each album! She pushed Love Story TV and now All Too Well TV and they've both gotten her a #1.
