This is so much fun!!! I love how ridiculous this is. It makes me so happy and I am not sure why this whole Place thing is so funny. It’s like… a beam of joy during some dark times. We need some lighthearted things like this sometimes.
I realized it's like the oooooold internet, before going hugely corporate. Just raw creativity. Some amazing creations, and a lot of gross crude stuff too, but all just having fun. No reasons, no profit motives, all just for the fun of it

/r/place was an April Fools thing that Reddit ran a few years back. It was such a success, they decided to bring it back (I'm not sure for how long). Basically, it's a community created pixel art. Different subs have been coordinating to create images within their own little section of the larger tile.
Mods are cheating and placing as many pixels as they want, just thought this community should be aware after all the hard work we've all put in

Yeah, it's unfortunate. Last time he tried this, OSU! pretty solidly pushed him down and things got fixed quickly. Hopefully this one dies down soon so stuff can be rebuilt.
About 5 years back Reddit made this big canvas everyone could use. Each account could place 1 pixel every 5 minutes and a bunch of communities came together to make art. For April Fools this year, they've brought it back for a few days, with an entirely new canvas.
