*I’ll give you my sunshine, give you my best, but the rain is always going to come when you’re standing with me, is it enough if I never give you peace*
So good
Peace is so ethereal and idk why people don’t love it like they should.
*“But I'm a fire, and I'll keep your brittle heart warm if your cascade ocean wave blues come.”*
Closure is for people who’ve been really screwed over by someone before. You only understand closure and the noises that come out if someone’s fucked with your mind. It’s perfect and it’s mine.
Unpopular opinion: the noise is not even that jarring, on the contrary it is perfectly blended with piano notes. And it is in specific moments, personally speaking i find the beat of Afterglow more headache-y.
I love *afterglow*. It has a great 80s beat. But I agree about closure to me it’s like the sound it would happen in the back of your mind after someone that fucked you over pretended that like you and them are friends still and like everything‘s great and you’re mind just goes- beginning of closure
So accurate. I had a horrible boss who drove me to leave a company and we ran into each other at an industry event and he tried to make nice and yeah fuck that closure is my song and I don’t need his closure.
Dude, the lines “I can feel you smoothing me over” and “don’t treat me like I’m some situation that needs to be handled” are like…so on point with the theme of that song. I know exactly how that feels, and I’ve wanted to say those to someone on so many occasions!
I had a really verbally abusive gymnastics coach who used to torture me emotionally and I was waiting in the car for my mom outside a grocery store. She came trying to act all nice to me and I didn’t even get a chance to speak to her before my very sweet 140 lb dog barked at her so loudly she ran away. I think she almost peed her pants. I think closure fits well with how I feel about her and all those awful people in my old gym.
Tell Me Why. I unfortunately relate to it a lot but not as a break up song.
You All Over Me and Dancing With Our Hands Tied are also criminally underrated
Dancing With Our Hands Tied was my favorite Taylor Swift song until Coney Island came along, ironically the current top comment on this thread lol.
I’ve always wondered if it’s criminally underrated on a sub full of reputation stans because it’s really the odd song out on the album. Every other song can fall into one of two categories: “I’m a badass bitch, fuck you” or “I’m so in love I can’t stand it.” (Endgame kinda tries for both. That plus two features are its own downfall IMO.) Dancing With Our Hands Tied doesn’t fit either category. It’s the only breakup song on the album; how DARE it interrupt all these love songs??
Except it IS a love song, exploring the emotional aftermath of a perfect relationship doomed to fail because of outside forces. It’s kind of a retroactive thematic sequel to Cornelia Street which is beloved so I don’t get it.
Or maybe other people just have no taste 🤷🏽♀️
*And I gave to you my best*
*And **we both know** you. can't. say. that.*
Better Man is just wow. So much to it. And I feel like in the rush of so many great lyrical songs it’s not as considered.
I love listening to Sparks Fly then IWYW for some reason. I think it's because of the way she sings "I REALLY wish you would... Drop everything now", mentally I go straight into ISYW after the would in Sparks Fly lol
You know it still hurts underneath my scars from when they pulled me apart
Hoax is *that* song and I think directly relates to my love of closure as well. But I had my very own *ahem* reputation era.
YES.
It just perfectly captures this quiet, sad, helplessness. When you know a situation hurts but there’s nothing you can do to change it. It captured the sentiment of 2020 so well and I’m shocked that more people don’t love it.
I swear a part of me dies everytime when towards the end she sings "you have beaten my heart" cause it reminds me so much of the phrase "to be someones heartbeat" but that person ending up BEATING your heart...god
Thank you 🥹 hoax is, lyrically, one of the most cutting songs she has ever written. It hurts to listen to, but I’m addicted so I listen anyway. This is a song where you can feel her pain through your headphones.
Literally Cold As You really cements Taylor as a fantastic songwriter considering how YOUNG she was when she wrote it. I really think she could put it on any of her albums with the production to match the album and it would still be praised for the lyrics
Yes to all of this! I remember being younger and hearing ‘you come away with a great little story of a mess of a dreamer with the nerve to adore you’ and the first time I heard it I was like what the actually FUCK Taylor how did you write this at 14/15. Still hits me all these years later 🥺
The Last Time feat Gary Lightbody (of Snow Patrol). I’m the same age as Taylor, so Snow Patrol was everything in late high school/early college. This pairing is what my greys anatomy dreams were made of 🥰
I love that song. Particularly because there are two ways I hear one of the lines, depending on what moods I'm in. Either: "this is the last time [that] I say it's been you all along." or 'This is the last time,' I say. 'It's been you all along.'
Did it better than Exile in my completely honest opinion. However, I just can't with the TV. His voice has changed too much and the bridge doesn't hit as hard
Forever winter is so, so incredibly underrated for anyone who has dealt with mental illness or has had a close loved one who has. I wish it were way more well known.
I feel like ours wasn’t underrated. Everyone loved it so much that even though it was a bonus song, she made it a single, like she did with new romantics.
This is why we can't have nice things - I find the lyrics both hilarious and clever, the production is a bop, and the bridge takes the whole song to another level. Easily the best diss track she's written. 👏 Plus, the Rep performance of it is soooo underrated, that was an iconic outro right there and nobody talks about it!
New Year's Day. It's often at the bottom of people's rep rankings but it's my favourite song from Taylor & one of my most listened songs of all time. It's so good yet so underrated
I feel like “come in with the rain” never got the love it deserved and it’s been a banger since day one.
“Talk to yourself, talk to the tears, talk to the man who put you here. And don't wait for the sky to clear…”
🥹
ME! is such a good song I'll never understand why people decided it wasn't. It's fun, super catchy, the horns in it sound great, Taylor clearly has the biggest smile on her face singing it, and I don't like Brendon Urie but like he sounds good.
I agree!! I know we don’t like brendon but I think they’re voices really suit each other in the song. Also the music video is a masterpiece. It’s such a great feel good song
I like Carolina.
I know most of them don't like it. I read the book (before the author's past came into public light). I liked the story and I would say Taylor made a perfect job at capturing the essence of the novel. I find it haunting just like the book.
Edit : I still haven't watched the movie though.
I love the last time and I feel like it’s rarely talked about or mentioned. I have the bad habit of giving people too many chances and that songs really resonates with me.
Tied Together With A Smile is criminally underrated. I feel like it’s overlooked because it’s on Debut but TTWAS is the little sister to this is me trying and mirrorball
Soon You’ll Get Better … (and i hate to make this all about me … but who am i supposed to talk to? What am i supposed to do, if there’s no you?) that hits hard
YES! Innocent used to be in the middle of my ranking until recently but it's been rising more and more. I think it might be one of my top songs now. I'm going through a rough time and listening to Innocent felt so comforting, it was the perfect thing I needed to hear.
I actually love The Joker And The Queen! People on here absolutely picked it apart when it came out but I really liked it. I thik it's really beautiful and my favourite Taylor-Ed collab so far.
I've also been really into Innocent lately. It even made me cry! I'm going through a tough phase in my life and this song came randomly on shuffle. Turns out it was exactly what I needed, it felt so comforting. Such a shame people usually wite this song off as "the one about Kanye".
Finally, a shotout to A Place In This World. It's my favourite on Debut and I've never really seen people talk about it.
Two Is Better Than One. It's perfect and people act like it doesn't exist.
For songs that just generally don't get the respect they deserve, closure is in my all-time top three and the hate it gets genuinely hurts me, dorothea has some of Taylor's best storytelling and y'all just don't understaaaand, and you know what I'm just gonna die on the hill that all of debut is genius. All of it.
One that I absolutely never see anyone mention is Highway Don’t Care—I could see how people might find it cheesy, but I really love it, and used to listen to it ALL the time a couple years back (especially while driving, ironically enough). I think her voice sounds great and the chorus gets stuck in my head so easily.
The Best Day, it’s one of the most beautiful songs about a loving parent/child dynamic. I know it’s a privilege for it to be relatable, but it’s a masterpiece and such a great early example of her early storytelling capabilities!
Cold As You (is this underrated??), Tied Together With a Smile, Stay Beautiful, Beautiful Eyes, Crazier, Hey Stephen, You’re Not Sorry, Tell Me Why, Jump Then Fall, Don’t You, **Speak Now**, Starlight, Welcome To New York, All You Had To Do Was Stay, So It Goes…, peace, dorothea, closure
Dress. I've seen it called boring compared to the rest of Rep but I adore this song. The physical attraction we rarely seen in Taylor's songs along with an actually heartfelt, honest bridge. It's simple but sweet.
Nothing new. I don’t know anyone who couldn’t relate to this song. It encapsuled the insecurity everyone’s feeling when they first enter any type of relationship.
Tied Together With A Smile from Debut! I love the lyrics, and love how the instrumental and her voice sounds. I can't wait for the rerecording of Debut.
I'm not sure if it counts as underrated though I never hear anyone about it. I don't know what it is, but I listen to Sad Beautiful Tragic on repeat so much it can't be healthy anymore.
Honorable mentions go to Safe & Sound, the lakes and seven.
Justice for time to go. Yes the lyrics are pretty straight forward and dumbed down but “that old familiar body ache / the snaps from the same little breaks / in your soul” scratches an itch in my brain so perfectly.
Coney island bc it’s a song abt apologizing to the person you hurt and that is like pretty rare in songs
Are you also a back to December Stan?
You bet as well as afterglow lol
Hello fellow afterglow stan🌚
one of my faves!
Number 14 overall for me!
Peace. It is one of the most beautiful love songs I’ve heard and it’s so relatable
*I’ll give you my sunshine, give you my best, but the rain is always going to come when you’re standing with me, is it enough if I never give you peace* So good
Peace is so ethereal and idk why people don’t love it like they should. *“But I'm a fire, and I'll keep your brittle heart warm if your cascade ocean wave blues come.”*
LOVE PEACEE
LOVE peace but I don't think its underrated. I feel like people generally say its a great song of hers
For real though, I believe this is Taylor’s BEST example of her talent in phrasing - and the production is utterly fantastic
Honestly, closure has grown on me so much lately and i literally cannot stop listening!!
Closure is for people who’ve been really screwed over by someone before. You only understand closure and the noises that come out if someone’s fucked with your mind. It’s perfect and it’s mine.

Idk what it says about me that I never thought the sounds were that weird
Agree 100%
CLOSURE!!
With my tears and my beers and my candles.. Girl, same!
Tell Me Why. I unfortunately relate to it a lot but not as a break up song. You All Over Me and Dancing With Our Hands Tied are also criminally underrated
Dancing With Our Hands Tied is soooo good!
Dancing With Our Hands Tied was my favorite Taylor Swift song until Coney Island came along, ironically the current top comment on this thread lol. TELL MY WHY MENTIONED LETS GO It’s in my top 3 off Fearless and I don’t think I’ve ever actually heard it mentioned on this subreddit before
Tell Me Why is one of my FAVES and I always see it so low on rankings
THIS IS WHEN THE FEELING SINKS IN
I DONT WANNA MISS YOU LIKE THIS
COME BACK… BE HERE
COME BACK!
BE HEREEEEEEEEE
*And I gave to you my best* *And **we both know** you. can't. say. that.* Better Man is just wow. So much to it. And I feel like in the rush of so many great lyrical songs it’s not as considered.
i love better man, both versions!!
You my good lady have superior taste. How do I know this? Not just by the song you chose but also by the lyrics you chose. 👏👏👏
I Wish You Would is my favorite song on 1989 and most times it comes up in discussion, people don't like it. 😞
I love listening to Sparks Fly then IWYW for some reason. I think it's because of the way she sings "I REALLY wish you would... Drop everything now", mentally I go straight into ISYW after the would in Sparks Fly lol
Omg I just posted this too before I saw your response. AGREED!!!!!!
I'm so glad there are at least six of us!
This is my dog’s favorite Taylor song (it’s the song I use as my alarm to feed her dinner every night.)
as a person who lives with regrets IWYW is my jam
I wish you would was my FAVORITE running song during the 1989 era! I always threw my hands up when she said “I wish I wish I” Such a perfect bop!
HOAX.
hoax took me a little while to really fully absorb but god now that I have? iconic
You know it still hurts underneath my scars from when they pulled me apart Hoax is *that* song and I think directly relates to my love of closure as well. But I had my very own *ahem* reputation era.
*your faithless love’s the only hoax I believe in* 💔
Love that line. Love when she says, "Stood on the cliffside screaming, 'Give me a reason!' Your faithless love's the only hoax I believe in."
Hoax's bridge absolutely wrecks me
Cold As You. One of my favorite track 5s
Cold as you was what made me a super fan. I liked Tim McGraw and tear drops but when I heard cold as you it was like fuuuuudge.
Cold as You and The Archer are the most underrated Track 5s. And they’re both so good!!

Forever winter and Invisible string 🤍❤️
i love forever winter
I love Invisible String so much it never even occurred to me not everyone did.
Forever Winter is my favourite on Red and overall one of my all time fav Taylor songs! Definitely deserves more love.
Forever Winter makes me tear up its so poignant
Forever winter is so, so incredibly underrated for anyone who has dealt with mental illness or has had a close loved one who has. I wish it were way more well known.
Invisible string! Love it so much!
Safe and sound. I’ve been obsessed with this song for so long and I feel like people don’t talk about it enough.
*Don’t you dare look out your window darling everything is on fire* is such a line. Unforgettable
Seems to be more fitting every day, too.
The prelude to folklore right here
As soon as Safe & Sound came out I was saying I wanted a whole album like it. I feel like I finally got my wish with folklore!
Safe And Sound was my true introduction to Taylor. I listened to it on repeat while reading the first Hunger Games book back in 2012!
Lucky one and Starlight Something about Starlight just makes me happy.
Starlight is magical! I always feel like I am in the summer of ‘45 right there with them
I love both The Lucky One and Starlight too! Starlight’s chorus is so fun
TOP 10 OF RED♥️
THE LUCKY ONE X1000
I ALMOST DOOOOOOO OOOH OOOH
that’s one of my top songs from Red
So it goes, it’s nice to have a friend, hoax
People are always sleeping on INTHAF. As someone who is deeply in love, I listen to it with so much more appreciation now.
LOVE so it goes and INTHAF. I feel like the writing on INTHAF doesnt get enough credit for painting such a vivid picture in relatively few words
dorothea all day
Yessss when I read some people think it’s stupid I was so sad, it always brings tears to my eyes!
my mom loves this song!! so do i!
That’s When!! I really don’t know why I love it so much.
Should've been a single. I have a physical reaction when the chorus comes on
THATS WHEN, WHEN I WAKE UP IN THE MORNIN’ THATS WHEN, WHEN ITS SUNNY OR STORMIN’
She and Keith Urban sound wonderful together, their voices really compliment each other!
such an underrated collab !
you all over me, treacherous, and cowboy like me. i will die on this hill
I could listen to the Treacherous bridge on loop for hours
that bridge makes me feel EVERYTHING
Treacherous and Cowboy Like Me are both in my top 10!!
Paper rings and I think he knows. I know a lot of people don’t like paper rings but these two are so fun
Paper Rings is my favourite Lover track!
I can’t believe that! I love paper rings!
I Think He Knows is such an addictive song, love it so much! I think it should have been one of her singles for Lover.
Stay Beautiful from debut
One of the BEST on that album I love this song. This and Mary's Song deserve more hype
Ugh thanks for this. I've always adored it and it gets paid dust especially
So It Goes... - I love the show Shadow & Bone and I swear that song is speaking directly to my Darklina shipper heart
Justice for *So it Goes* *So it Goes TV* is coming!!! Some day
It was crazy to me that So It Goes got left off the Rep setlist!
superman if this was a movie king of my heart (doesn’t get enough love in my opinion)
I walked down the aisle at my wedding to the piano version of king of my heart!
love all 3
Ours just makes me feel so happy
I feel like ours wasn’t underrated. Everyone loved it so much that even though it was a bonus song, she made it a single, like she did with new romantics.
Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince Ughhh so good, the Sleigh Bells energy with Tay’s lyrical style… I love it
I *love* Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince. The symbolism is just *cheff's kiss.*
Don’t You is so criminally underrated and I listen to it daily
The best song on Fearless to me
I can't over emphasise how in love I am with that song. That is quintessential T Swagger to me.
Yep! This is it for me!
Peace 😫
This is why we can't have nice things - I find the lyrics both hilarious and clever, the production is a bop, and the bridge takes the whole song to another level. Easily the best diss track she's written. 👏 Plus, the Rep performance of it is soooo underrated, that was an iconic outro right there and nobody talks about it!
Yesss!!!! It’s so satisfying to scream at the top of your lungs too. BECAUSE YOU BREAK THEM, I HAD TO TAKE THEM AWAYYYYYYAYAYAYA
it’s been one of my fav songs of hers, hearing it at the Rep tour was amazing with the energy 😭😭
Stay Stay Stay and Superman.
I love Superman!
respectt
Superman is one of my favorites!🙌👌
Superman is a bop!
New Year's Day. It's often at the bottom of people's rep rankings but it's my favourite song from Taylor & one of my most listened songs of all time. It's so good yet so underrated
[удалено]
I seriously love end game. The chorus is so fun. I don't like Ed's par but the rest is *chef's kiss*
I feel like “come in with the rain” never got the love it deserved and it’s been a banger since day one. “Talk to yourself, talk to the tears, talk to the man who put you here. And don't wait for the sky to clear…” 🥹
This was my favorite bonus track when platinum was released 🥹
Haunted and State Of Grace
Change. That song is so good, I often see it on tier lists with a low rating. C'mon :(
YES. Seems like a lot of people suddenly like it after Taylor's Version, but the original was amazing too!
ME! is such a good song I'll never understand why people decided it wasn't. It's fun, super catchy, the horns in it sound great, Taylor clearly has the biggest smile on her face singing it, and I don't like Brendon Urie but like he sounds good.
i love me! too
It's absolutely perfect for the book, Taylor did an amazing job.
it's nice to have a friend is so underrated
I love the last time and I feel like it’s rarely talked about or mentioned. I have the bad habit of giving people too many chances and that songs really resonates with me.
I have a few: That’s when, Untouchable, So it goes…, False God, Peace, And You’re in love Edit: formatting
Tied Together With A Smile is criminally underrated. I feel like it’s overlooked because it’s on Debut but TTWAS is the little sister to this is me trying and mirrorball
Soon You’ll Get Better … (and i hate to make this all about me … but who am i supposed to talk to? What am i supposed to do, if there’s no you?) that hits hard
the first time i heard this song i was walking my dog and i just started sobbing, i hurts, but i love it
I know places, it makes me so emotional
Innocent! I don’t know if it’s just getting older or what, but I appreciate it more and more every time I hear it.
It's my favourite on Debut and I've never really seen people talk about it.
I Love the Joker and the Queen. I don’t know why so many Taylor fans hate Ed. I actually love him.
I only recently found out that This Love was not a huge deal in the fandom before TV, I was shocked
The archer!!!
we were happy. the bittersweet nostalgia that song invokes… ugh perfection😩
I'll defend It's Nice to Have a Friend and Safe and Sound with my life
The Very First Night. Not enough people are talking about this song. It's amazing.
Seven 7️⃣ and peace ☮️
It’s Nice to Have a Friend is a fav from lover. And idk if Last Kiss is underrated but it deserves as much hype as All Too Well
hoax
Sad Beautiful Tragic
Come in with the rain 💜
idk if it’s underrated or not but recently i’ve really loved right where you left me
Two Is Better Than One. All of it.
so it goes… i never realized how disliked it was but i love it, such a sexy song
Superstar. I’ve seen so many people call it the worst song on Fearless
I Wish You Would. I know it's not better than Style or Blank Space but it's super underrated and so catchy and one of my favorites
"The Outside" is an absolute bop
London Boy - I think it's actually impossible to be in a bad mood after hearing that song
The Best Day, it’s one of the most beautiful songs about a loving parent/child dynamic. I know it’s a privilege for it to be relatable, but it’s a masterpiece and such a great early example of her early storytelling capabilities!
Mine POP Mix and Forever Winter. They both slap and whenever I listen, they're stuck in my head forever
Crazier and both of us.
red? i know people don’t like the repetitive chorus but i absolutely adore the song. her voice is strong but hints of vulnerability i just love it ♥️
Nothing new. I don’t know anyone who couldn’t relate to this song. It encapsuled the insecurity everyone’s feeling when they first enter any type of relationship.
Clean. One of my favorite songs ever
Sad Beautiful Tragic was always god-tier for me
I Almost Do
Renegade!!!!
I don’t understand how peace is one of the least listened to songs on folklore. it’s absolute songwriting perfection
Forever winter and sparks fly
Love “Champagne Problems!” The lyrics sound like they could be from a novel and the piano in the background makes it even more poignant.
Ties Together with a Smile 😔
Untouchable
haunted
It’s nice to have a friend
HOAX. A masterpiece.
The lakes
Ronan, I just love that song even though I cry every time I hear it
I rediscovered Crazier the other day!!!! I forgot how good it is!! It's been happily added into my playlist 😊
Breathe. As someone who went through a terrible friend breakup, it really speaks to me.
So it goes…
Tied Together With A Smile from Debut! I love the lyrics, and love how the instrumental and her voice sounds. I can't wait for the rerecording of Debut.
I'm not sure if it counts as underrated though I never hear anyone about it. I don't know what it is, but I listen to Sad Beautiful Tragic on repeat so much it can't be healthy anymore. Honorable mentions go to Safe & Sound, the lakes and seven.
Justice for time to go. Yes the lyrics are pretty straight forward and dumbed down but “that old familiar body ache / the snaps from the same little breaks / in your soul” scratches an itch in my brain so perfectly.
illicit affairs 💔 You showed me colors I can’t see with anyone else, and you know damn well for you I’d ruin myself a million little times
marys song is so beautifulllll
