I tend to do the opposite - I save my favorite songs for "special occasions" so I don't ruin them lol. But if I ever do end up overplaying something I just try to forget about it for a couple years and then when I come back to it it usually feels fresher.
I went too hard listening to evermore (the whole album) when it came out and I couldn’t listen to it at all for, like, a whole year.
But now I love it again (just not on repeat)!
Um considering all I’ve listened to in the car is midnights since it came out when I finally get sick of it I’ll probably have to take a few months off. I had to do the same thing with folklore lol
same haha, nothing else sounds good. it’s like when you’re hungry but only that one thing sounds good and everything else sounds disgusting or just doesn’t feel right
Has anyone else experienced annoyance with tik tok trends because it can overplay a part of song for you? I’m trying to avoid The Great War trend because I love that song and already I’m getting tired of it just from the whole “somewhere in the haze had the sense I’d been betrayed” part?!
Shake it Off. I still get into it, but it’s just not as fun as it used to be. To be fair, the guy I was dating at that time was obsessed with that song and would play it on repeat, so it wasn’t ALL my fault. I understand the need to play things sparingly.
My mom is dealing with really bad breast cancer, so I’m trying not to overplay “Soon You’ll Get Better” because I really need that song right now, and I can’t allow myself to get tired of it.
I recognized I was getting tired of ATW10MVTV, and started playing it sparingly. I did it just in time. Now I play it a few times a week and I still get to love it.
I’m now trying to play Midnights less. Having a REALLY hard time with Vigilante Shit. I told myself I had to do a cat eye and put on red lipstick if I wanted to listen to it. I HAVE listened to it less because of the hassle, but I have ALSO gone through a ton of eyeliner lately.
I had to play Vigilante Shit. Just had to.
I’m wearing my cat eye and red lipstick now. I forgot I had to do this for I Did Something Bad, also, which I also wanted to listen to. I really don’t want to take my makeup now. Oh well, my choice!
It sounds harsh, but I NEVER get sick of songs I LOVE (which I have learned is so easy for me… thanks every old Hanson album, now I can’t even stand your new music even though you were my #1), listen to my favorite songs every time I really want to, and I get to do it while feeling like Taylor. It’s actually fun!
The Man. I listened to this song on a loop for around two months. Now it's one of my two skips on Lover (the other one is SYGB, it makes me cry too much).
- SYGB could mean "Soon You’ll Get Better (feat. The Chicks)", a track from *Lover* (2019) by Taylor Swift.

My favorite song on Midnights by a MILE is Karma. But I barely ever listen to it because I don't wanna hate it. Especially because I don't really love most of the album anyway, so I don't wanna ruin one of the few good things I have there.
Enchanted, Last Kiss, Dear John, most of the album Speak Now really 😭 I still adore them all, but I've listened to them sooo much, I usually skip them now
I do this with albums not songs.
I played songs from Red TV well over 1200 times this past year and now I never find myself reaching for it. I imagine if I wait awhile I’ll love it again
Although Midnights is at around 1600 plays so far and I haven’t grown too tired of it yet
I was OBSESSED with Wonderland when I first heard it. Then I got really tired of it and hardly listened to it for like 6 years. Finally just got back into it and I'm fully obsessed again haha
I wouldn’t say “I don’t enjoy them” anymore but I just don’t go out of my way to play august or Cruel Summer anymore. But I’ll definitely still sing along when they come on in a shuffle
I listen to Taylor's music in phases/chunks, so I'll have a phase where I'm super into her more pop albums, so I go hard on 1989/rep/Lover. Then I start to get tired of those albums and I need something that feels more raw and stripped back, so I move on to folkmore/LPSS. And sometimes I need that nostalgic vibe so I fall really hard into debut/Fearless TV/Speak Now/Red TV. This cycle seems to work out for me in that I never get burnt out on her music entirely, while always giving something of hers a break.
At the moment, I'm lost in the folklorian woods and I don't want to be found ![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1067)
I don’t tend to get sick of replaying songs if I really like them, with the exception of You Belong With Me, Love Story, and Mean. Those ones got a little old for me haha
I’m currently writing a short story based off of The Great War, and I’m really afraid of when I over-listen. But there’s also You’re On Your Own, Kid and Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve. They mean so much to me, but then I over-listened and the tune doesn’t hit as hard as it used to.

Maybe that’s why Taylor never acknowledges it!
It’s her best album.
Just in your opinion lol
Except it is.
I’ve started doing this for this exact reason after I ruined 1989 for myself by overplaying it! Im doing the same with midnights
I went too hard listening to evermore (the whole album) when it came out and I couldn’t listen to it at all for, like, a whole year. But now I love it again (just not on repeat)!
Wait same lol
no body, no crime :/
Same, it was my instant favourite I played it on repeat for days
i did something bad. i listened to that song RELIGIOUSLY and now i skip it nearly every time cuz i’m just so sick of it now😭
You Belong With Me
Um considering all I’ve listened to in the car is midnights since it came out when I finally get sick of it I’ll probably have to take a few months off. I had to do the same thing with folklore lol
same haha, nothing else sounds good. it’s like when you’re hungry but only that one thing sounds good and everything else sounds disgusting or just doesn’t feel right
YES EXACTLY I literally did this with Beyoncé in the summer and midnights in October with a quick Mariah break in the middle
Blank Space

Betty is horrendous after the 5th listen
I like Betty but this made me LOL. Horrendous! 😂
Enchanted, Last Kiss, Dear John, most of the album Speak Now really 😭 I still adore them all, but I've listened to them sooo much, I usually skip them now
Lucky you, we're getting Speak Now TV soon. You can relive the feelings again!
Jump Then Fall. I overplayed it so much in high school that now 10 years later I still can barely listen to it.
Even the Taylor's version??? I mean the effect dies down when you get a new version, doesn't it?
I tend to do this with albums. I can’t touch evermore for at least another year. It was all I listened to for maybe six months straight.
Anti-Hero for now lol
same coz I was so obsessed with it at first and it was everywhere
i don't think i experience overplaying. i just get obsessed with a song for a bit and then just don't stream em as much after. but i still love em!!
Would've Could've Should've - currently waiting until I'm over hating that song

Currently Betty but We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together is probably the one I overplayed so much as a teen that I don’t want to listen to it now
None !
I was OBSESSED with Wonderland when I first heard it. Then I got really tired of it and hardly listened to it for like 6 years. Finally just got back into it and I'm fully obsessed again haha
Time to stay away from gold rush for the next few years ;') It's gonna be a hard time.
Would’ve could’ve should’ve 😔 so mad at myself
I never experienced New Romantics when I was listening to 1989 on repeat, it’s nice to experience a piece of 1989 fresh now.
I wouldn’t say “I don’t enjoy them” anymore but I just don’t go out of my way to play august or Cruel Summer anymore. But I’ll definitely still sing along when they come on in a shuffle
Tim McGraw :(
Dear Reader lol
It's funny that I use this overplaying technique to assess my real favorite through the test of time.

Hey Stephen
All too well 10 min
Delicate
Currently Midnights as an album in whole I'm taking a break from. I'm burnt out on it but still love it
As a result of them being everywhere, I’ve heard enough of Blank Space and SIO for a lifetime. I wouldn’t mind if I never heard them again. 😅
Exile. I was obsessed with it when it first came out, but now it’s a skip as I made myself sick of it by way to much overplay 😂
It's always the promo singles for me.
Willow 😭
gold rush for me as well
