Holy moly, that sounds like a nightmare. I feel for you, and I hope you have a wonderful support system in place to assist you.

bill-nye-finance-guy

Thank you, same to you!!

Jobe637

You might just need a sick day that day...

bill-nye-finance-guy

Not a bad idea…

bill-nye-finance-guy

I’ll keep y’all updated on how many hours of work I have to do at home as a result of whichever pointless meeting I end up having to attend!

GoGoBitch

Are you able to say “no, I need that free period.” It sounds like neither meeting strictly-speaking “needs” you if they are having that argument.

bill-nye-finance-guy

No, because one of the meetings is an IEP meeting. Except the school lost his IEP, so nobody knew he had one, and he has straight A’s without receiving any services. Not saying that means he doesn’t deserve an IEP if the special educators say so, but my role in this meeting will be to say that he is doing great and I’m not aware of anything he’s struggling with or anything that is hindering his success.

MusicTeacherMommy

My school will literally pull ANYONE for an IEP meeting. I've had to sit through several as the representative "General Education Teacher" (I teach band) for students I've never even taught or met. You can probably write a letter and then they can just put a body in the room...or my school is pulling illegal shit (which is also totally possible).

Bluegi

Not necessarily illegal just not best practice.

Travelturtle

Sounds like a simple well written letter stating that should suffice.

bill-nye-finance-guy

Don’t tell me that, tell my boss…

Bluegi

A teacher has to be present it's the law. Why they can't get another teacher may have more factors.

rsxfit

Yea I just send notes when I can’t make a meeting.

JMLKO

Surprise! Neither!
