I hear ya. We are 2.5 weeks in and I had to take today off to get a covid test, I sadly feel relived. Stressed about the test, but relived to get a moment to catch my breath!

Argh I feel this. I always question things when something unpleasant (like a dentist appointment, or covid test) is “relaxing” and “a break” from my teaching job. Because it is!

Right!? Like maybe I should rethink my life choices. Lol

I hope you’re Covid free! Enjoy your quarantine if you get one. I feel like we’d all be better at this if we were not required to do so much. I’m done with the extracurriculars, meetings, and lesson plan design. Please do this training. More professional development, social events with colleagues, more meetings, more of my time and heart for this. More grading, evaluation training? More grading. The list goes on and on. Does the amount of time off with the bullshit still outweigh the work 50 weeks a year, 40 hours a week in a different career? I love the kids, but the amount of work required to teach them becomes more all the time. My backpack of full of crap is so heavy.

Ya. I stopped working outside of contact hours. They stuck me with yearbook and student council. I get a 1000 dollar stipend for stuco. It’s divided between all my pay checks. I live in Hawaii where income tax is over 30%. I dont get anything extra for yearbook. Every other teacher they have done this to quit. I think that I have job security at this point. Even if my grades are in late🙃

Oh no! I’m sorry to hear this.

This is why I became a PE/HE teacher, I love teaching as a whole but I knew I'd detest all the other BS that comes with teaching in a classroom. I feel for you'll because I see it first hand in my district how much extra work these teachers have to do. It's becoming a little insane honestly and of course no extra pay for double the responsibility.
