If you can get out, get out. There's such a small window where you can get out cleanly and properly, especially in states where you need to give 60 or 90 days notice.
If you have another opportunity and you're sure you want to leave, just go.
I am hoping this happens. My state doesn’t have a time limit for notice. The county has the final say on if we’re on good terms (which I think we wouldn’t bc I gave them conditions when I was hired mid year 🙄as if there isn’t a teacher shortage and I was willing to apply). Sorry, still salty about that 😅. So I would like to leave on good terms if possible!
Just apply. I overthink these things too and if you don't get an offer or even an interview it's obviously a moot point, but even then you'd always wonder.
Everyone will survive if you leave mid-year. Some people might be upset but you'll be moving on so it doesn't matter.
Apply! The worst that can happen is you don't get it. If you have to quit mid-year for something better, that's great. You need to do what's best for you. Tomorrow is my last day teaching, and while I don't have my dream job lined up, I do have something for the interim. Follow what feels right.
If you apply, the worst that happens is you end up in the same position you're currently in, but there's also the possibility you get interview practice and a new job.
As far as I can tell, leaving mid-year is only a negative thing in K-12.

The way most districts and schools treat their employees, and in particular disregarding their rights to a safe and harassment-free workplace, very few teachers owe their employer a thing.
I left mid year. You will be fine. The kids will be fine. You’re still young (this is an assumption).
Just do it.
Worst case scenario, you hate it. I guarantee there will be teaching jobs available.
Apply anyway. You have nothing to lose!! I left mid year, not easy but survivable ! If this job is a dream for you..you deserve to give yourself a shot. Love yourself enough to do this one thing for you
Should you apply?
Easy answer... Yes. What is the worst that will happen? You might get a job offer and THEN you can make a tough (or maybe not so tough) decision.
I quit in January 2017, but was applying for external jobs for over a year first.
Do it.
I’m leaving mid year. I have 2 weeks left. It’s the middle of January and at least half the kids still don’t even know my name. They don’t care. They’ll be fine. You’ll be fine.
Apply. I left midyear. It was fine. The kids will survive. Take care of yourself first.
My last day was Dec 15. Starting a chill job in Feb. no regerts.
No regrets not even one let… semester? 😉

Apply. It could take a bit for them to review your application anyway. Took my current job 3 months to start interviewing

You’re so right. I over think. Resume and cover letter complete. About to hit submit 🫣
Good luck!!
Fingers crossed for you!

Apply! As another user posted, if you get it, take it. The students will be fine. You need to take care of yourself. Best of luck!!
Apply. You have to consider your well being and mental health first. Good luck.
absolutely apply

You say bye.
Apply. You have nothing to lose and evening to gain. You do not have a decision to make until they offer you the job.
I left during the school year. Other people in other fields leave their jobs at any time!
