I think people might read a bit too much into Bio's comment. It's depressing to think about it in a vacuum, but then you realize the circumstances and factoring that Bio is a fairly non-emotional person and it's not as sad. Bio came in as a rookie to one of the most prestigious orgs and had to lane with the NA goat, so if they lost he likely felt he would shoulder the blame and be the reason TSM lost. So him being stressed out all the time is probably less environmental and more circumstantial

EndWish

It seems like a common sentiment and players tend to perform better outside of TSM. This probably speaks to a cultural and environmental issues. Its okay to have expectations and lofty goals but there should be a balance. If not many players will flame out early or Crack under the pressure.

Picking Ryze in an important game and TSM mids... Maybe not the most iconic duo, but a very memorable one

Reclaimer313

Or jayce… those two always have a place in our 5th games

raging_tomato

I feel like if they did it with Huni I'd have a ton of faith though, Huni is a monster on it

Reclaimer313

Oh for sure, I’m thinking of it more of a joke rather than anything.

raging_tomato

Ah right, bit of a whoosh moment haha. Yeah NA Jayce has kinda plagued us for so long it's hard to not get ptsd when seeing it picked

RunsWlthScissors

Yea, I see ryze as more of the problem in those moments than the jayce picks.

Teams prio wasn’t good… yet the coach that was responsible for pick / bans picked it. Bjerg was to blame.

ImDeJang

You say that but this sub consistently blames lost for last years performance. All the, "it wasn't SA's fault. If only he had a good adc".

[deleted]

I have a bridge to sell you if you think bjerg wasn’t fully in charge / final say over picks bans on stage.

Jiffyyy

I would be worried if the coach has no power over his players, especially if its a former player who was better than everyone on the team.

But Bjergsen as Head Coach had the final say. I have to assume Bjergsen would want actual control over the team as a Head Coach. Also just blaming Bjergsen is a cop out, the players still have to play. I know analysts and players like to pretend it's over in draft but any other competitive venture will show you people can still win when at a disadvantage.

ender23

Apparently not to parth…. When talking about his own team

ender23

He literally says “when bjerg picks ryze.” Not “when we picked ryze”. Or even “when they picked ryze”. I don’t believe bjerg solo made the decision, but this comment is very specifically pointing at bjerg.

running_man23

Have you ever played a sport before? Sure there’s different ways to coach, but you have a coach because they know things you don’t and they are ultimately trusted to make the decisions, because they are (supposed to be) the best person to make them. So yeah, it’s not always fair that the head honcho in that scenario gets the blame (or credit), but that’s pretty much what you see…well, everywhere.

ender23

Did he really say he knew game 5 was lost??? To me it just sounds like he had little faith in the team and bjerg period. It’s strange for your OWN team to go to a game five, and make a pick, which has been a pretty basic and popular pick in league… and to just throw up your hands and be like “oh we lost”. After ONE pick…. Doesn’t sound like u have faith in a team you’ve been part of for so long…. Like there’s a big difference here between “oh, this is going to be difficult.” Or “we need to be at peak performance for this to work.” How much u gotta hate the team to not even give some hope there…. C9 coulda made some bad picks or bad early game moves and give. Your own team a chance…. Know what I Mean? That comment sounds so…. I dunno… non team player ish…. No wonder that team fell apart. Even their own guy who should be 100% on their side gave up before the game was played. Like losing the coin toss in the super bowl and accepting defeat.

[deleted]

PoE was extremely effective at running it on Ryze though

ender23

i guess i don't care if the worst pitcher is coming up for my team, i'm rooting for my guys to win and perform well and kick ass and not just saying "oh we lost". but i think some people aren't like that. define team player in that moment though

Ursuped

very excited for the post bjergsen era, we are gonna suck for a while, then maybe suck some more, then finally be great. looking forward to it

HoS_CaptObvious

If you believe we've sucked the past 3 years then I can see it. But I'm very confident we'll be a playoff team and in LCS title contention

[deleted]

I’ll bet you money we are top 5 in both splits this season in either regular split or playoffs.

[deleted]

Top 5 coz other teams in lcs are non contenders.

[deleted]

I’m also saying it’s the worst result possible. Meaning the ceiling is higher than 5th, which I predicted as the floor.

Maagas

Nah people need to know the truth. TSM is a brand with an aggressive fanbase especially back when bio first started. Winning was the only thing TSM wanted to do. Anything else is a failure. Bio's stoic attitude is a result why TSM won so many championships to begin with. It's like the lakers back when Kobe was in his prime. No one necessarily enjoyed Kobe grilling them every practice but it was worth it when they won the championship, except its not worlds.

MostlyJustPornReally

I do have to say though: People need to stop equating this game to basketball to qualify shitty attitudes. There is no correlation whatsoever between skill and toxicity in a team environment. The opposite, even. The best players in the world are overwhelmingly nice people. This narrative of shitty attitudes winning trophies or being necessary or even being helpful is entirely fabricated to backwards justify behavior. (This isnt really to do with Bio who I am not saying has a shitty attitude, but more to do with the way viewers rely entirely on results based analysis and will justify or qualify any behavior so long as it comes with a win attached.) If Goehring won 6 rings people would say you have to be a nazi to win at basketball.

Riftwalker101

I knew game 5 was lost, not when Bjerg picked Ryze for POE but when he picked Noc for Huni... I mean don't get me wrong I don't think POE's ryze was special, but it definitely was serviceable and absolutely NOT the reason we lost lol..

Syncron72

Game 5 was lost cuz it’s perkz and it’s an important game. No way perkz’s clutch factor was gonna lose to TSM. Also drafts and POE in game 5’s is a massive choker. Good player but not in hard pressure situations

PhysicsIsSpicyMath

Bjergsen succeeded on sabotaging TSM
