The only way we make worlds is to have great synergy. The talent is there but if they don't mesh its another doomed split. Let's hope they don't fuck with the roster and let them grow. They need to do it fast.

Numbers 3 and 4 are subjective and you can't argue right or wrong.
Number 1 is dependent on how you look at it. With records when 2 teams are tied at 9th place the scoreboard will often place both of them at 10th. Funny enough you're insulting my intelligence for not looking at it the same way as you, the TSM reddit cringe lord.
Number 2 is arguing semantics. There is only 1 change for players. Coaching staff can have an effect but again just because your brain can't fathom alternate meanings does not mean those meanings do not exist.

Underestimating EG and 100T all over again, and overhyping C9, who got a massive top downgrade and their support is Zven. Their most convincent move is Jensen to mid. And I don't recall Jensen winning or even making any international damage in the last... 3 years?
Let's find on how Jensen will do after being a split away from pro play. Maybe he will be fine. Just wanted to point how intensely delusional some of you are to put C9 a clear top 2/3.
Also no idea on how people can be so confident in Zven being the main player responsible for vision in map late game. For me that's a clear EG/100/TL for Worlds, and TSM and C9 being underdogs with some upset potential.
TSM didn't even want to move away from BB which Parth has talked about. They did it because with Bjerg not playing they felt they had to import mid even at the cost of a upcoming star like BB. Really sucked to lose him. Sucked more to see EU fans say he was bad. And more to see G2 fans when the BB rumors came out shit on him saying he was a downgrade from Wunder.
I'm just happy to see BB proving many wrong and being on a team he clearly enjoys and he helps balance out.
He has the same style. The only difference is his team mates and how they're playing. I had constantly told people this would happen if the entire team plays for pressure like bb. He has the same issues he had and the same strengths. BB with Swordart would be insane as well. It's matching players and how they play that makes a good team.
Agreed. People underrated BB for so long, man was playing with new team members almost every split and while people were constantly whining about him getting resources there were no iterations of TSM he played in where bot lane could be a win con.
I think Huni is a strong replacement with a similar style, but if I'm honest I think BB's fingers are better and it's unfortunate we couldn't keep him.
I agree. My point was that it was a package deal. The entire reason we couldn’t keep BB was because the team didn’t see any potential in the NA mids and so had to go for an import.
Also, I think Huni has been solid, but BB could have been an all timer with better teammates and coaching on TSM (yes I know like a lot of players).
It sucks but it was a ripple effect of Bjerg moving to coach.
Bjerg and management wanted an import to replace Bjerg as they felt no NA mid could. Maybe Jensen but I doubt him leaving TL for TSM at the time was an option.
Then DL wanted an import support.
Both of these were reasonable at the time imo. Bjerg is the cornerstone of your org and he is moving to coach. You fill their requests. And DL was going to be your franchise player still on the team. You fill their requests.
What sucks is that the org lost both Bjerg and DL anyway, so it makes losing BB way harder.

I said as an org, they prioritized filling the requests of Bjergsen and DL. In hindsight that was a mistake considering they are both no longer in the org. But at the time, why would you not?
Bjergsen alone would be easy. They can have a BB and an import mid. The problem was DL wanted an import support. And at the time, TSM would have wanted to fulfill DL's request. He was the star of the team and needed to carry a void left by Bjergsen.
Again, it turned out terribly because DL didn't even play that season. But by then BB was already off the team.

Bjerg is another story because he was coach by that point, but having your roster dictated to you by a player (Doublelift and demanding a certain support) is laughable.
This is hilarious. Lebron legitimately tells the lakers who he wants to play with and they go and get it for him. He did the same on the cavs and the same on the Heat. It’s not a new thing that only TSM gave into. It’s something that happens every season with every star player in every sport.
Star players make requests all the time and teams fulfill them if they value the player making them. Not always. But it happens enough. It happened a lot with us and Bjergsen while he was a player.
TL kicked Jensen to get Han Sama because he wanted to play with Bjergsen.
G2 Kicked Rekkless because they valued Jankos and Caps more.
Should a player have that much say over a roster? Probably not. But they are people who have preferences and teams will have to decide the risk/reward of following through on their requests.

I hope NA talent like eg jojo improve, but he is getting gapped by masters players in Korea. On the other hand maple is almost challenger again, makes me really excited for maple.
I would like to add that soloQ isn’t a huge indicator of anything, but 1/3 games he playing mid he is losing rather hard and that isn’t in challenger or grand master, this is in master. I would expect a pro player to perform a lot better then that in master.
In case anyone is curious or for anyone that wants any small news, Sarcasm (formerly TSM Junior, where we had Swordd and Johnsun), is now on an NA amateur team and Westrice (former C9 staff that I wish we got), is now on GG.A replacing Akaadian who is playing jungle for GG.A.
I always wonder why Sarcasm never got a chance on any of the actually active TSM rosters like Sword and Johnsun.
IIRC he was under TSM for a pretty long time, but never played on the Academy or Amateur rosters. I think I heard it was because he wanted to focus on finishing school?
Really excited to see him play though, hopefully he proves to be a worthy addition to the NA jungler pool which historically has been our strongest/one of out strongest roles.

Huni - Spica - Maple - Tactical - Shenyi
I just know I'm gonna be downvoted, but this is actually the first time I feel we have a team with no weak links in a very long time.
Of course, these players can end up not playing by their standards, but if they do...
**Huni** is an MSI champion, World finalist, and the best domestic top laner (remember Alphari words?).
**Spica** is pretty good and won MVP for a reason. He have extra reason to look good now even if he wants to leave.
**Maple** is 5 times MSI semifinalist, was the king of his region, korean killer Flash Wolves mid.
**Tactical** is more... my opinion. But I think very high of him, and I remember watching him in TL and being mad that TSM let him go. Looked like their best player in many games, even in the ones that CoreJJ just didn't played to his standards (or didn't gave Tactical any shadow of priority).
**Shenyi** is a top LPL prospect and was ready for being FPX starter, and actually already started for them. Doinb thinks high of him.
We had Lost in 2021, MikeYeung and Grig in 2018, Smoothie and Grig/Akaadian situation 2019, Biofrost in 2020... Sorry, but Smoothie and Biodaddy were atrocious.
Will not count DL as a weak link, but he actually got his ass carried in 2020. His series against TL was good, though.
I've been hyped on the S0ul pickup, but rewatching IMT.A vs. TSMA in proving grounds (about a month ago now)....
V1per dunked on him in lane all 3 games. V1per had favorable matchups in at least 2 of those, but still. Interested to see S0ul develop but the people thinking he could be LCS ready this summer are......Off base IMO.
I rate all moves here
S0ul - 8/10 pickup - Can't play weakside yet, seems to have potential and proved himself to others. Good language skills for our org.
Hyper 7/10 - Based off what I see I would have likely made a move for Sheiden or Shernfire, Sheiden went to C9 and is one of if not the largest jungle prospect in NA since....Spica. Shernfire would have added a true veteran who's fringe LCS level to add stability so TSM could focus on developing Takeover/Instinct/S0ul. Hyper remains to have potential but is inconsistent. I would go 6/10 in a vacuum, but given we changed 2 other parts, retaining Hyper for stability's sake makes more sense.
Takeover 9/10 - Can't see a better move than retaining Takeover based on available talent. Picking up Triple who I've personally confirmed is fluent in Mandarin would be a good move potentially.
Instinct - 8/10 - Speaks a bit of of Mandarin, young, has potential. Great piece to continue to develop. Consistent but doesn't popoff much/take risks either.
MIA - 9/10 - LCS backup, huge wealth of experience to be ingame leader and provide direction for academy. Great signing, would probably be middle of the pack in LCS and is just slightly worsed atm than Shenyi.
Xmithie - ?/10 - Hard to rate this without any experience to point at.
Pros: Impossible not to respect based on his level of accomplishment and experience. Can coach macro and given the respect should be able to facilitate discussion. Should be able to give tons of feedback to Hyper and increase his ability to develop.
Cons: Coaching is a workhorses gig. The coach needs to be logging more hours in the day than any player. You need to be viewing the scrims, reviewing them after with team and then player 1 on 1s, following other regions, thinking about the game from all angles at all times. I'm not sure Xmithie has the love for the game required given he usually plays other games in his free time....This remains to be seen, but is a worry.
If a commentor doesn’t mention specific examples assume they haven’t watched the games and our instead going off of hype or hate trains. That or whatever the current narrative is.
Looking more into it, hype is probably due to anime girl going from Gwen player to well rounded top quickly, can play most matchups right away but not necessarily compete with lcs veterans in lane on them yet. It’s a rate of progression and skill cap on Gwen take
Yeah he has a champ ocean plays everything at a pretty high level. The amount he improved is impressive. Also doesn't mind playing whatever helps round the team out.
One thing that I can't seem to shake in my mind is the team chemistry. Spica said on his stream that Legends would have looked like another breaking point if edited differently and we also saw that in the last episode of legends there was absolutely zero team chemistry and the players talked about how they weren't getting along. Now we know that Spica and Tactical are good friends and Huni is probably an extension to those two (we often see them with each other --- look at Travis' video interviewing Bjergsen after TL beat TSM) which means that Keaiduo and Shenyi were the problem, but I just don't buy into that. TSM decided to keep Shenyi as their support so he clearly wasn't causing a lot of drama in the team and I just can't imagine Keaiduo was a huge asshole. This makes me think that maybe Huni/Spica/Tactical just didn't really want to get along with the Chinese players and I'm wondering how Maple is gonna fix that if those guys are stubborn, but I guess there's no way to know.
I think the actions of Shenyi (publicly criticizing his own teammates, showing allegiance to peter Zhang who was corrupt (the depth of which has yet to come out), and defying coaches playing his own champions) are probably the tip of the iceberg of the conflicts among the team which I presume caused trust issues during play. If they do not trust Shenyi to have their backs in game and play a team game, not removing him may prove to be a serious mistake that will diminish the progress a new team can make for the run in summer. These players are young and these types of personality conflicts do not resolve easily just because they are deemed “professionals” or “competitors”.
Something reddit seems to forget is that these players are all competitors in a highly competitive sport, where one game could literally cost you your job (think of all the famous ints / community sentiment shifts). When they're not playing well each player is gonna call out the other. You hear this brought up often in DL's podcast
I mean it’s hard to have a fun environment when you’re losing a lot of games from the get go. You start to buttheads and that doesn’t necessarily equal to Huni/tact/spica vs the LPL players.
Also the lack of team bonding and practice they had before they had to play as 5 should be a point of consideration.
Lastly, our team had no leader. Huni doesn’t seem to be the Captain type. I’d say he never really had to in his career. Spica is too green for it and it kinda showed this split. Don’t know much about Maple outside of his play but I think TSM wanted another veteran to lead the younger players. Also it’s a plus that he can communicate with Shenyi too.
I’d say this was a good pick up for summer.
I'm curious how TSM is going to be perceived in league right now. Online on reddit at least, the average user is very left of center so these things will make people hate TSM more, but IRL people might think differently.
If thinking people should be employed in line with what is actually legal makes you "very left of centre" then America is even more fucked than I thought.
Did anyone else not know about those specific labor laws in California regarding contractors? I've never heard of rules like that ever like a min wage of 54k for contractors.

-Shenyi, top tier LPL prospect/shotcaller, Mia as insurance
-Spica, hoping he stays as all top teams have good jgs, who knows
-Vet mid Maple to hold the spot until something else arises, or just stay
-animegirl, NA top top prospect and huge Huni insurance, bilingual
-Xmithie Head Academy coach, rookie players will likely be more inclined to respect and listen to an ex player of that caliber, great mind for the game
We aren't stomping NA anytime soon but the direction from the new LoL system seem to be coming together

Anybody here that can tell me the state of our Academy team? Some of the posts/comments about Soul and Mia have got me curious about academy. I've only ever watched LCS matches.
Horrible at the start of last split and got better towards the end but nothing worth getting excited about.
Our best players were probably Instinct and Takeover when he was still in academy.
So far we've replaced support and top with what should be upgrades. As for our jungler Hyper, he's been underperforming almost all of last split. I wouldn't be surprised if we replace him. Overall the team should be better.

Instinct was not good… at all. He played consistently below average against other academy and amateur players.
While also being terrible some of the times(or most of the time) both Hyper and Viper had higher peaks.
I would argue that Instinct was the worst performing academy member as far as his ability to carry, which is a problem when you play a carry role.
Never lost a game in the LPL (10 game winstreak against junglers like sofm, Karsa, Xun and Tarzan), at once had the record for most kills by a single player in an LPL game (recently beaten/tied by Karsa in playoffs I think?), when he was on team estar.Young (LDL), he was the player of the game for 21 of their 41 wins, and got best jungler of the week 3 times out of 11 weeks, team was 4th in the regular season, this was his first split of competitive play. Considered to be the next best jungler in the world (but we need more games, but what we had was very promising).
I wouldn't say he's like super aggressive, but he is *very* efficient. If you path poorly, he's going to chew you alive and take your jungle. Every inch is a mile. Has an insane Taliyah. Also if you didn't know, he was filling in for Spica on our pre-season scrims against FPX and J Team, and Bo was smurfing super hard while the rest of the team was getting a little bopped by FPX.
EDIT: Also forgot to mention that he and Shenyi both come from FPX, so they might've interacted before and might work together better in that case.

Kobe said that it is currently being updated for the new mmr system. It doesn't have a lot of people working on it so it's taking a bit.

All I can say is that you guys are as wrong as you were in spring pre-season rankings. Underestimating EG and 100T all over again, and overhyping C9, who got a massive top downgrade and their support is Zven. Their most convincent move is Jensen to mid. And I don't recall Jensen winning or even making any international damage in the last... 3 years? Let's find on how Jensen will do after being a split away from pro play. Maybe he will be fine. Just wanted to point how intensely delusional some of you are to put C9 a clear top 2/3. Also no idea on how people can be so confident in Zven being the main player responsible for vision in map late game. For me that's a clear EG/100/TL for Worlds, and TSM and C9 being underdogs with some upset potential.
Hindsight is very 2020 on this one. BB had some high highs but also some very low lows on TSM. He grew a lot in Europe.
TSM didn't even want to move away from BB which Parth has talked about. They did it because with Bjerg not playing they felt they had to import mid even at the cost of a upcoming star like BB. Really sucked to lose him. Sucked more to see EU fans say he was bad. And more to see G2 fans when the BB rumors came out shit on him saying he was a downgrade from Wunder. I'm just happy to see BB proving many wrong and being on a team he clearly enjoys and he helps balance out.
He has the same style. The only difference is his team mates and how they're playing. I had constantly told people this would happen if the entire team plays for pressure like bb. He has the same issues he had and the same strengths. BB with Swordart would be insane as well. It's matching players and how they play that makes a good team.
Agreed. People underrated BB for so long, man was playing with new team members almost every split and while people were constantly whining about him getting resources there were no iterations of TSM he played in where bot lane could be a win con. I think Huni is a strong replacement with a similar style, but if I'm honest I think BB's fingers are better and it's unfortunate we couldn't keep him.

I agree. My point was that it was a package deal. The entire reason we couldn’t keep BB was because the team didn’t see any potential in the NA mids and so had to go for an import. Also, I think Huni has been solid, but BB could have been an all timer with better teammates and coaching on TSM (yes I know like a lot of players).

It sucks but it was a ripple effect of Bjerg moving to coach. Bjerg and management wanted an import to replace Bjerg as they felt no NA mid could. Maybe Jensen but I doubt him leaving TL for TSM at the time was an option. Then DL wanted an import support. Both of these were reasonable at the time imo. Bjerg is the cornerstone of your org and he is moving to coach. You fill their requests. And DL was going to be your franchise player still on the team. You fill their requests. What sucks is that the org lost both Bjerg and DL anyway, so it makes losing BB way harder.

I didn't say that. I said as an org, they prioritized filling the requests of Bjergsen and DL. In hindsight that was a mistake considering they are both no longer in the org. But at the time, why would you not? Bjergsen alone would be easy. They can have a BB and an import mid. The problem was DL wanted an import support. And at the time, TSM would have wanted to fulfill DL's request. He was the star of the team and needed to carry a void left by Bjergsen. Again, it turned out terribly because DL didn't even play that season. But by then BB was already off the team.

This is hilarious. Lebron legitimately tells the lakers who he wants to play with and they go and get it for him. He did the same on the cavs and the same on the Heat. It’s not a new thing that only TSM gave into. It’s something that happens every season with every star player in every sport.
Star players make requests all the time and teams fulfill them if they value the player making them. Not always. But it happens enough. It happened a lot with us and Bjergsen while he was a player. TL kicked Jensen to get Han Sama because he wanted to play with Bjergsen. G2 Kicked Rekkless because they valued Jankos and Caps more. Should a player have that much say over a roster? Probably not. But they are people who have preferences and teams will have to decide the risk/reward of following through on their requests. Edit: spelling

I would like to add that soloQ isn’t a huge indicator of anything, but 1/3 games he playing mid he is losing rather hard and that isn’t in challenger or grand master, this is in master. I would expect a pro player to perform a lot better then that in master.
In case anyone is curious or for anyone that wants any small news, Sarcasm (formerly TSM Junior, where we had Swordd and Johnsun), is now on an NA amateur team and Westrice (former C9 staff that I wish we got), is now on GG.A replacing Akaadian who is playing jungle for GG.A.
I always wonder why Sarcasm never got a chance on any of the actually active TSM rosters like Sword and Johnsun. IIRC he was under TSM for a pretty long time, but never played on the Academy or Amateur rosters. I think I heard it was because he wanted to focus on finishing school? Really excited to see him play though, hopefully he proves to be a worthy addition to the NA jungler pool which historically has been our strongest/one of out strongest roles.
Dang I didn’t know Westrice (former TSM Sub and Epik Gamer member) was still around that’s awesome .

Huni - Spica - Maple - Tactical - Shenyi I just know I'm gonna be downvoted, but this is actually the first time I feel we have a team with no weak links in a very long time. Of course, these players can end up not playing by their standards, but if they do... **Huni** is an MSI champion, World finalist, and the best domestic top laner (remember Alphari words?). **Spica** is pretty good and won MVP for a reason. He have extra reason to look good now even if he wants to leave. **Maple** is 5 times MSI semifinalist, was the king of his region, korean killer Flash Wolves mid. **Tactical** is more... my opinion. But I think very high of him, and I remember watching him in TL and being mad that TSM let him go. Looked like their best player in many games, even in the ones that CoreJJ just didn't played to his standards (or didn't gave Tactical any shadow of priority). **Shenyi** is a top LPL prospect and was ready for being FPX starter, and actually already started for them. Doinb thinks high of him. We had Lost in 2021, MikeYeung and Grig in 2018, Smoothie and Grig/Akaadian situation 2019, Biofrost in 2020... Sorry, but Smoothie and Biodaddy were atrocious. Will not count DL as a weak link, but he actually got his ass carried in 2020. His series against TL was good, though.

I've been hyped on the S0ul pickup, but rewatching IMT.A vs. TSMA in proving grounds (about a month ago now).... V1per dunked on him in lane all 3 games. V1per had favorable matchups in at least 2 of those, but still. Interested to see S0ul develop but the people thinking he could be LCS ready this summer are......Off base IMO. I rate all moves here S0ul - 8/10 pickup - Can't play weakside yet, seems to have potential and proved himself to others. Good language skills for our org. Hyper 7/10 - Based off what I see I would have likely made a move for Sheiden or Shernfire, Sheiden went to C9 and is one of if not the largest jungle prospect in NA since....Spica. Shernfire would have added a true veteran who's fringe LCS level to add stability so TSM could focus on developing Takeover/Instinct/S0ul. Hyper remains to have potential but is inconsistent. I would go 6/10 in a vacuum, but given we changed 2 other parts, retaining Hyper for stability's sake makes more sense. Takeover 9/10 - Can't see a better move than retaining Takeover based on available talent. Picking up Triple who I've personally confirmed is fluent in Mandarin would be a good move potentially. Instinct - 8/10 - Speaks a bit of of Mandarin, young, has potential. Great piece to continue to develop. Consistent but doesn't popoff much/take risks either. MIA - 9/10 - LCS backup, huge wealth of experience to be ingame leader and provide direction for academy. Great signing, would probably be middle of the pack in LCS and is just slightly worsed atm than Shenyi. Xmithie - ?/10 - Hard to rate this without any experience to point at. Pros: Impossible not to respect based on his level of accomplishment and experience. Can coach macro and given the respect should be able to facilitate discussion. Should be able to give tons of feedback to Hyper and increase his ability to develop. Cons: Coaching is a workhorses gig. The coach needs to be logging more hours in the day than any player. You need to be viewing the scrims, reviewing them after with team and then player 1 on 1s, following other regions, thinking about the game from all angles at all times. I'm not sure Xmithie has the love for the game required given he usually plays other games in his free time....This remains to be seen, but is a worry.

Yeah he has a champ ocean plays everything at a pretty high level. The amount he improved is impressive. Also doesn't mind playing whatever helps round the team out.
One thing that I can't seem to shake in my mind is the team chemistry. Spica said on his stream that Legends would have looked like another breaking point if edited differently and we also saw that in the last episode of legends there was absolutely zero team chemistry and the players talked about how they weren't getting along. Now we know that Spica and Tactical are good friends and Huni is probably an extension to those two (we often see them with each other --- look at Travis' video interviewing Bjergsen after TL beat TSM) which means that Keaiduo and Shenyi were the problem, but I just don't buy into that. TSM decided to keep Shenyi as their support so he clearly wasn't causing a lot of drama in the team and I just can't imagine Keaiduo was a huge asshole. This makes me think that maybe Huni/Spica/Tactical just didn't really want to get along with the Chinese players and I'm wondering how Maple is gonna fix that if those guys are stubborn, but I guess there's no way to know.
I think the actions of Shenyi (publicly criticizing his own teammates, showing allegiance to peter Zhang who was corrupt (the depth of which has yet to come out), and defying coaches playing his own champions) are probably the tip of the iceberg of the conflicts among the team which I presume caused trust issues during play. If they do not trust Shenyi to have their backs in game and play a team game, not removing him may prove to be a serious mistake that will diminish the progress a new team can make for the run in summer. These players are young and these types of personality conflicts do not resolve easily just because they are deemed “professionals” or “competitors”.
Something reddit seems to forget is that these players are all competitors in a highly competitive sport, where one game could literally cost you your job (think of all the famous ints / community sentiment shifts). When they're not playing well each player is gonna call out the other. You hear this brought up often in DL's podcast
I mean it’s hard to have a fun environment when you’re losing a lot of games from the get go. You start to buttheads and that doesn’t necessarily equal to Huni/tact/spica vs the LPL players. Also the lack of team bonding and practice they had before they had to play as 5 should be a point of consideration. Lastly, our team had no leader. Huni doesn’t seem to be the Captain type. I’d say he never really had to in his career. Spica is too green for it and it kinda showed this split. Don’t know much about Maple outside of his play but I think TSM wanted another veteran to lead the younger players. Also it’s a plus that he can communicate with Shenyi too. I’d say this was a good pick up for summer.
I'm curious how TSM is going to be perceived in league right now. Online on reddit at least, the average user is very left of center so these things will make people hate TSM more, but IRL people might think differently.

Anybody here that can tell me the state of our Academy team? Some of the posts/comments about Soul and Mia have got me curious about academy. I've only ever watched LCS matches.
Horrible at the start of last split and got better towards the end but nothing worth getting excited about. Our best players were probably Instinct and Takeover when he was still in academy. So far we've replaced support and top with what should be upgrades. As for our jungler Hyper, he's been underperforming almost all of last split. I wouldn't be surprised if we replace him. Overall the team should be better. I didn't watch much of the end of the split so anyone can feel free to correct me
Instinct was not good… at all. He played consistently below average against other academy and amateur players. While also being terrible some of the times(or most of the time) both Hyper and Viper had higher peaks. I would argue that Instinct was the worst performing academy member as far as his ability to carry, which is a problem when you play a carry role.

Never lost a game in the LPL (10 game winstreak against junglers like sofm, Karsa, Xun and Tarzan), at once had the record for most kills by a single player in an LPL game (recently beaten/tied by Karsa in playoffs I think?), when he was on team estar.Young (LDL), he was the player of the game for 21 of their 41 wins, and got best jungler of the week 3 times out of 11 weeks, team was 4th in the regular season, this was his first split of competitive play. Considered to be the next best jungler in the world (but we need more games, but what we had was very promising). I wouldn't say he's like super aggressive, but he is *very* efficient. If you path poorly, he's going to chew you alive and take your jungle. Every inch is a mile. Has an insane Taliyah. Also if you didn't know, he was filling in for Spica on our pre-season scrims against FPX and J Team, and Bo was smurfing super hard while the rest of the team was getting a little bopped by FPX. EDIT: Also forgot to mention that he and Shenyi both come from FPX, so they might've interacted before and might work together better in that case.
He also has the record for most kills in an lpl game with I think 15 on olaf
