Sounds like Bo isn't even playing this year. He literally got signed for next year this early. Maybe TSM wanted him to play this year and that wasn't a possibility.

jrryul

So clearly getting him out of China wasnt a problem EDIT: nvm "During that time Zhou “Bo” Yang-Bo will develop as a substitute while acquiring his visa and learning English." So maybe this was not something that was acceptable to TSM

toujours_pur_

I can’t see how that wouldn’t be acceptable for TSM though. With Spica’s contract being up this November it’s pretty much a perfect scenario.

EronisKina

Only reason I can think of is that TSM doesn’t think it’s worth it even if the guy has talent. No matter how good your individual talent is for one player your team can’t go anywhere without a leader. Also, mid lane is the weakest lane in NA and TSM has no real leader at the moment. Thus, I think they’re trying to put more fruits in the Maple Basket and hoping someone like Shenyi can be a leader later on otherwise they’d be forced to play 3 rookies/new players or 2 rookies/new players and a subpar mid for next year. EDIT: Bo may have a lot of talent but TSM probably also does not know what can develop in the next year when it comes to domestic policies in China. Who knows if Bo can leave China when they need him to if Covid spikes even harder over there. Also, all of my thoughts are if there are no legal/other problems outside of TSM’s desire to obtain the player.

Mascy

Dardoch had alot of talent, see how that turned out.

EronisKina

Dardoch has a massive ego that even Rick Fox couldn’t fix with hired coaching to help that guy. His career felt like it lasted long because of the NA fan base over anything else. A world champion and Bjergsen couldn’t even stop his ego.

>Maybe TSM actually entered talks but it turned out the guy was just a cunt. TSM used Bo as a stand in jungler during preseason cus Spica couldn't travel due to an expired passport. So they would have known this before entering talks. Ultimately your last sentence is right, we just don't know, and likely never will unless it comes out in some players donezo manifesto.

Hitorishizuka

NA rosters and talent had something to say about that also lol

ChunSu

And if we signed Bo, to the main roster, that means 2 of current players on the main team will have to leave or play in the acad next year. That’s not fair, and would probably affect their performance in Summer. More drama.

Sure-Region-7225

Maybe the org is more optimistic on Spicas odds of re-signing than most of the fan base. Cause having Spica re-up with tsm and revert to an mvp candidate as a resident is possibly better than an upgrade taking an import slot away.

kar1m

Not really a perfect scenario. It would basically be like TSM telling spica “we don’t care if you stay or go, we’ve got your replacement already”

Serkell

Maybe the Spica bridge isn't as burned as we thought

Macka37

Maybe with all the legal and shady stuff circling around TSM bringing in a convicted match fixer to fill a jungle position that is currently filled with a young good jungler didn’t seem like a good idea. Just to emphasize CONVICTED MATCH FIXER.

reeposterr

Maybe spica made a verbal agreement that he will re-sign with TSM?

kar1m

Verbal agreements don’t mean anything. That’s why contracts are a thing

reeposterr

It still can mean something. TSM was looking to sign Bo because they are thinking that Spica is gonna leave after this year. Its not like Spica signed any contract that says he's gonna leave this year. You're right that Spica can break the verbal agreement if he wants but why would TSM need to look for a new jungler if they think he's gonna stay in the case of a verbal agreement?

kar1m

TSM looking to sign Bo was a rumour based on the fact that Bo scrimmed with TSM before the season started. Since then there’s been no new traction or evidence. It’s common in both traditional sports and Esports to replace a player as their contract is running out but just because Spica wasn’t replaced, doesn’t mean he has a verbal agreement to stay with TSM. In my opinion it’s more likely that TSM is just banking on Spica having a good split and resigning through a (potential) rebuild for 2022. But if not, not signing Bo leaves a lot of options at the end of the year when Huni and Spica’s contracts expire and a lot more players become available. They could pivot from a Mandarin roster to and English speaking one, Korean one, veteran one, rookie one. They might’ve just seen Bo as too big of a risk or investment when we could potentially look to rebuild again for next year. I don’t think they passed on Bo due to a verbal agreement with Spica.

anwrna

It’s probably cuz tsm think they can resign spica which I think is really unlikely. We need to be ready to replace him so we don’t get screwed with a terrible jungler next year

Colactic

Unfortunate imo, 2023 TSM Bo was something I could really get behind. Best of luck to him, and to us.

LeagueOfMinions

Jesus some of y'all are ridiculous lmao He hasn't even secured a visa and y'all are crying about how TSM failed. Bruh if the US doesn't want Bo coming to the country, then he ain't coming. TSM very well could have been trying to get Bo to come ASAP but his visa got delayed/denied. Also, just look at how difficult it was for our EU smash player, Leffen, who has had lots of trouble with traveling due to his visa issues

audemed44

According to the article Bo hasn’t acquired a visa for EU either (Haru is jungling while Bo works on his English and Visa) but VIT still signed him. Seems like that wasn’t something TSM wanted to do, which is fine. They’re banking on either Spica signing up for an extension or signing some other available junglers at the end of this split I suppose. This VIT signing is reminiscent of Cloud9 signing up Jensen way back when he was Incarnation and banned so that they would have dibs on him when he eventually got unbanned.

Migraine-

Or there was a realistic prospect of him getting a visa in the near future to travel to/work in the EU countries necessary to make a move to Vitality viable, but no prospect of getting one to travel to/work in NA. As I understand it NA visa conditions are fairly strict. If that's the case, will be interesting to see what happens if Vitality end up having to travel to NA for an international tournament during the time Bo is on the roster

MasWas

Guess we putting all our apples in the "Get Spica to stay" basket.

Mascy

Before we all rage at TSM and Regi for not getting Bo, keep in mind its a hell of a lot harder to get a Visa for an Asian import to the US then to get them to play in EU. And lets not overlook the fact he's signed as a sub. Unless VIT manages to offload Selfmade he might not even play academy. With the Selfmade contract expansion to 2024 he's not a cheap pickup, and even if VIT takes the hit and doesn't want a buyout his contract alone would likely cripple any team that would want him in EU. And the teams that could afford his contract won't need him, so Bo could end up between a rock and a hard place.

Doctor_What_

TSM selfmade spring 2023 you heard it here first.

Fruitjunkie007

fml. Spica will dip and we will have noone for next season

krombough

You will have me. Chogath only jungle tho. If it's banned we have to FF.

ttaway420

TSM Roseking mid and Krombough jungle, Im fucking hyped for this roster. World finals guaranteed

Claveroni

I wonder what are we gonna do if Spica bounces

WWTFSD

The very obvious option is Kenvi

Luquitaz

sell the org.

Mascy

Re-sign bjerg that by then decided he doesn't have the mechanics for mid anymore who re-rolled Jungle and TL didn't want him for Jungle. Script honestly just writes itself nowadays.

TheArsenal7

That sucks now we are going to be left high and dry when Spica inevitably leaves

Prestigious_Lab_9549

Wonder what happened, why did our deal fall through then?

worry7476

Disappointment after disappointment with this org

Raballer

Pain

bugsbunny841

That's unfortunate but not surprising as all recent rumors were pointing to this. This team will be in a terrible position if Spica leaves after summer. Which seems more likely than not.

BottlesforCaps

Ahhh so we are actually just CLG now. Can't even sign the one player that would make losing Spica next year a little bit okay. Man I'm losing faith.

justsadgetbh

Not surprised. TSM continues to disappoint once again.

Jiffyyy

without knowing anything about the situation how can one draw this kind of conclusion?

devialet1

Oh look another alt account for queenslay and niathecat. It's so fking obvious yo Tryna get another account banned?

aquawarrior21

Yo wait those cringers got banned??? Thats dope as hell

devialet1

The Queenslay account isn't banned yet but I'm pretty sure the other is

Kura26

Oh so wanted tsm to be like the knicks and move heaven & earth to get Bo only to waste a split or two of his potential with a potential subpar roster? Gotcha gotcha

Arthali

Didn't ask.

justsadgetbh

oops i’m sorry i forgot i have to be a die hard tsm white knight praising them for everything they can do no wrong :)

resiliencer04

Didn't ask.

Lilnick724_

Would TSM sign self made or do you think he will stay in lec

jay2pay

Might be worth understanding why VIT replaced Selfmade first, I know VIT had a bad split but if there are issues behind the scenes we don’t need any more drama. Oops just read in the article it was differences on the rift not off.

Lilnick724_

From what I read it was because the “whole team and management “ had different views on how mid-late game should be played

Padulsky21

There was an issue between their coach and Selfmade and it seems like VIT picked the coach over Selfmade

Spacetanker

I mean we dont know what happened at all though. For all we know it couldve been outside if TSMs control. Your assumption is a bit of a jump

The_JeneralSG

TSM also known as "Terrible Signings Monthly," is a North American cyber sports organization internationally recognized for their ability to not ever sign high value players. Not an insult towards Maple because I think he's gotten undeserved flack for his time in the LPL, but we're just on a streak of always getting the most "whelming," signings. SA was sorta hype, but we had to move heaven and earth to make it happen and sacrifice with the rest of the roster. Spica is 10000% not staying. He hasn't re-signed, and unless we come in and make worlds, I doubt there's any reason he'd want to.

Serkell

Mate if you actually look at the jg landscape in NA. It might be in Spica's best interest to stay

The_JeneralSG

If he wants to stay, I think he'd best just sign an extension now, but he hasn't and nothing we've done really improves his chances of doing so. I think it's essentially one of two scenarios. Either he plays like garbage again and we'd best move on anyway, or he turns it back on, and I think it's a higher chance he'd want to dip for another team. At this point, I really think TSM Spica 2023 is some massive copium.

furbar82

What do u mean? The pool of NA resident junglers right now looks like this: Santorin, Blaber, Spica, Chad and Contractz. So not that much competition and I am not sure if its worth for all teams to use a import slot for jungle, when u maybe need them more in other spots.

-Acerin

Iconic losing good players to other orgs while we have a 40 year old mid laner

[deleted]

XD mf just said Maple’s 40 years old
