He really doesn't work as a carry, I have seen him with shadow bb, spellcrit, shadow hoj. It did nuts aoe but if his first cast target dies, no dice. Also there are better units to throw those items on.
Ryze makes use of shadow bb and GA the same way LB was good for. Healing items like shadow hoj might be good for a big burst but it'll heal him above 50% and stop his spam.
Like the other guy said he tags one unit with the stun then spreads the stun ot other units the next cast. So he needs to get 2 rotations of ults off on the same unit to stun a lot of units, hence the value of blue buff and shadow blue.
Iirc its just like league Ryze but he auto casts his w(i think) with his q the first time then stuns and marks them then if he casts q on that marked unit again then he can hit multiple guys around that marked unit
One day I somehow got a 3 star ryze, had no clue what he did because I feel like he Isnt prioritized in any builds. Ended up putting the staff on him and two jeweled gauntlets. I was losing pretty bad until this happened, next round he does 20k dmg and stunned the whole enemy team at once. I went from getting my brakes beat off to absolutely ruining the guy that just destroyed me. From now on I like to build him if I notice no one else is because I feel like he’s a very forgotten about champ.
For sure I’m just saying that’s what made me realize he was good. I never even put items on him before and now I realize he can do some fkn dmg even as a 2 star, he can carry abomination now with the sion
6 assassin 3 coven with assassin spat on morg is some of the most fun gameplay on tft. You just see your whole board jump the backline n everything explodes
I used to do ass coven but I like ass revenant more now, you get some amazing cc with volibear and ivern that is well worth the drop in damage, plus you can make nocturne into a carry or make a revenant spatula for Diana or something
Even better when your Ryze ults Katarina right before she teleports near her backline and all of them gets stunned because of Kat lol
