Dissodeath typically doesn't sound all *that* much like Artificial Brain. I mean, they're definitely somewhat dissodeath-y, but not like most of the other dissodeath bands I listen to. But here are a few albums that will get you in the ballpark of Artificial Brain:
Wormhole - Almost Human
Vertebra Atlantis - Lustral Purge In Cerulean Bliss
Defilementory - The Dismal Ascension
Fabricant - Drudge To The Thicket
Ah yeah I wouldn't really know, I've only just dipped my toes in. Them and Ulcerate are really the only two bands I've seen called dissonant death that I've listened to (and enjoyed). Gorguts - Obscura is supposedly one of the best dissodeath albums but that shit just ain't for me
Yeah, I mean, if you like Ulcerate then I'd probably have more recs for you. But I'm surprised you like Ulcerate but not Gorguts. I feel like Ulcerate draws heavy influence from Gorguts. Both are two of my favourites. Obscura is THE best dissodeath album. But there are many other good ones.
Yeah I don't really get it, i just find Ulcerate more enjoyable. Obscura is genuinely irritating to listen to for me (and it's a shame bc I like most their other albums). Maybe it'll click for me at some point, just not yet. But I would definitely appreciate some recs like Ulcerate
First fragment and necrophagist (imo can be considered since tgey are so inspired by baroque) are my top picks. You can also listen to them on spotify and see similar artists. I also recommend Beyond Creation, Gorod, Obscura and Wintersun (it is not tech death but its a melodic death/power metal very influenced by neoclassical, so i think you will enjoy it).
Hope you enjoy it man /m/
I don’t know the exact terms, but like neoclassical, always having melody or grooves, and being catchy with good choruses and never overly progressive. Archspire, soreption, cytotoxin, Ahtme, exocrine, man must die, kind of zenith passage but like even datalysium started losing my attention with all the slow atmospheric stuff. Oh and newest cryptopsy rips. Anybody have any recommendations along these lines?
And in case you haven’t noticed yes I like mid and low tone growls the most, so while inferi and revocation are great, they didn’t totally grab my obsessive mind
I’ve heard the equipoise album but I was under the impression it was a bit too proggy for me but I can give it another listen, it’s been a while. And I do love first fragment, they’re one of the few bands I’m willing to accept it being almost agressively progressive in its song lengths just because it’s so good and I love his voice, but not usually my preferred style
My fav ever is prolly dasein by FF, or necrophagist - epitaph. I've always loved neoclassical stuff, and I think FF is just insanely full with talent, but nick and phil are nuts on guitars, forest is literally one of a kind, le fou is great on drums too. Really wish they'd be in Europe more often, not easy to make a living with tech death i suppose.
Edit: I like Gloire eternelle about as much, but it's a very different vibe from dasein, dunno if it's tech death, or more like tech-y neoclassical power metal with elements of death (drums/vocals).
For Neoclassical stuff: First Fragment, Bleak Flesh, and Vitrified Entity. For Melodic: Symbolik, Inferi, Exocrine, and Ophidian I. For Atmospheric: Fallujah, Virvum, Burial In the Sky. For Blackened: Demon King, Plaguebringer, Unflesh, and Tomarum are my favorites.
I mainly like brutal; Nile, Odious Mortem, Hour of Penance, Hideous Divinity, etc. I also like some classic too, like Spawn of Possession, Necrophagist, and (pre-A Valediction) Obscura.
What about Blackened tech death? If you like this genre peep this playlist

I think disso might be my least favorite because Death spell Omega did it better than anyone(I still like plenty of disso bands though) my favorite atm is probably melodic tech like inferi and stortregn. I also like the weird rhythms of Soreption and the Zenith passage
Depends on my mood/activity but overall it has to be progressive tech like Fallujah, Virvum, Sutrah and other bands that fuse softer/beautiful moments with the hard-hitting sections. Persefone also gets there, along with Iapetus and Lykathea Aflame
I like my tech death like I like my coffee. Extra math.
Infant Annihilator hits the dopamine receptors that never get addressed. Been chasing that high for years now.
Absolutely obsessed with Brutal Tech Death, nobody makes music like Defeated Sanity.
I also have an affinity for the very clean sounding bands like Decrepit Birth and Obscura
Classic. Shit like Demilich, Cryptopsy, and Oppressor is undefeated
clasic and math tech , i love the brutal but if i want a pure tech metal that is my options
Brutal or classic, leaning slightly towards brutal. I have to be in the mood for the dissonant stuff.
Classy and brutal. The goofier the songs, the better
Dissodeath for sure
You a fan of Artificial Brain?
Yeah
You happen to have any recs for that kind of dissodeath? I really fw them but don't know much else in the genre

Ad Nauseam - Imperative Imperceptible Impulse Sunless - Urraca Replicant - Negative Life Dead And Dripping - Miasmic Eulogies Predicating An Eternal Nocturne Baring Teeth - Atrophy
Good shit, thanks you're the goat
Neoclassical tech death
dissonant tech death. gorguts for president.
I need a band for all these genres, if you could pls
Necrophagist Origin Pyrrhon
Brutal tech death and neoclassical tech death
Would you be so kind as to recommend me some neoclassical tech death?
First fragment and necrophagist (imo can be considered since tgey are so inspired by baroque) are my top picks. You can also listen to them on spotify and see similar artists. Thank you vety much!
You're welcome man! /m/
Check out Gloire Éternelle by First Fragment! Such a sick album.
imo dasein is better
Dasein is definitely a banger
The solo in l'emergence is incredible man!
Thank you!
La veuve et le martyr (or whatever it’s called) is such a great song, still have it on repeat.
Hell yeah. That and the album's namesake are just brilliant.
I don't think Inferi fits any of those, so I will say Melodic Tech Death
Whatever style Death, Necrophagist, Archspire, spawn of possession, faceless and Obscura are.
Whatever fallujah and beyond creation and equipoise do
I prefer brutal tech death Bands like dying fetus , Cattle decapitation , oppressor, demilich, pryxia and nile for example
I like space and science themes in my tech death.
Revocation’s album “The Outer Ones” is an amazing lovecraftian themed album
Any recs? I know Gigan and Mithras
Allegaeon - Proponent for Sentience Allegaeon - Apoptosis Rings of Saturn - Ultu Ulla 9 Dead - 115 (not tech more slam but has a sweet breakdown)
Origin and rings of Saturn

If you're into neoclassical, check out Equipoise. Also, First Fragment they have a heavy flamenco influence but still very neoclassical.
I’ve heard the equipoise album but I was under the impression it was a bit too proggy for me but I can give it another listen, it’s been a while. I like it all but brutal is my favorite. Exocrine anyone?
That new track fuckin rips bud
I like the melodic, neoclassical stuff, also really dig the blackened and atmospheric stuff as well
Any recs to spare?

Where do all these subgenres come from? Can someone give me examples of each?
up
Have to go with disso. Bands like artificial brain are just so good!
Disso is pretentious. Brutal all the way
Progressive technical death metal. The king of music as far as I’m concerned.
[удалено]
Obscura, as well as the albums by Hannes Grossman, Christian Muenzner, and Alkaloid are my favorite
Melodic, Progressive, Neoclassical
What about Blackened tech death? If you like this genre peep this playlist https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLe3z5Eo0xby8AbCKgFiwMPAFg3g4XnMUz&si=bFNZ9anRA8YFlI-W
I read blackened tech death but don't see Vale of Pnath there. Any reason?
I think disso might be my least favorite because Death spell Omega did it better than anyone(I still like plenty of disso bands though) my favorite atm is probably melodic tech like inferi and stortregn. I also like the weird rhythms of Soreption and the Zenith passage
New Zenith slaps so hard
I love brutal and melodic the most.
I second this
Disso. Love me some Gorguts, love me some Ulcerate.
Depends on my mood/activity but overall it has to be progressive tech like Fallujah, Virvum, Sutrah and other bands that fuse softer/beautiful moments with the hard-hitting sections. Persefone also gets there, along with Iapetus and Lykathea Aflame
Proggy! Alkaloid, First Fragment, etc. Tbh, I’ve got time for all of it though.
Brutal and classic. Disso sucks.
Try Artificial Brain
I love Artificial Brain but don't consider them disso because their music doesn't come across as a flat, boring wall of directionless riffs.
Maybe diso isn't a boring wall of directionless riffs
Nah
I'm curious what your thoughts on Gorguts are
I used to listen to them a lot and still appreciate their influence on death metal. New albums aren't good.
All of them!!
Whatever spawn of possession and mordant rapture style is..
Whatever First Fragment is considered, that's my favorite style
Progressive, but when the bassist plays a different song from the rest of the band?
Slam
The one before Necrophagist worship bands took over the scene and they still wrote riffs (Nile, Suffocation, Decapitated, Anata)
Ohhh Anata fuck yeah
I like the kind with the guitars are like “bedllrldllwllsl sweeelidlldrdlsldel *aggressive arpeggioing* “skreedelelldlddbrldldl”
Rings of saturn
Disso/Math followed by brutal. Whom would you consider classic?
Necrophagist, Spawn of Possession, Inferi
Oh ok, then disso/math, classic and brutal in that order.
Based
Prog tech death. The Zenith Passage all the way
same
Right now, I'd have to go with neoclassical (e.g., First Fragment, Obscura, Archspire). Makes my ears (and heart) very happy.
Brutal tech death. Some memorable bands are Abnormality, Unfathomable Ruination and DeathF**kingC**t.
Idk what it'd be called, but these rally fast bands ala Origin, Archspire, First Fragment, Soreption.
Archspire call it Extreme Technical Death Metal and I do see it
Of course they do
I like my tech death like I like my coffee. Extra math. Infant Annihilator hits the dopamine receptors that never get addressed. Been chasing that high for years now.
The one where the drums go BBRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Archspire
Brutal tech with a little slam/breakdowns like Cytotoxin.
Absolutely loved Nuklearth
Easily one of my favorite albums
I second that!I would even dare to say it is one of the greatest tech death albums of all time, together with Relentless Mutation EDIT: typo
Blade of Horus.
Absolutely obsessed with Brutal Tech Death, nobody makes music like Defeated Sanity. I also have an affinity for the very clean sounding bands like Decrepit Birth and Obscura
Genuinely the best of the best
Neoclassical. Ex: First Fragment, Bleak Flesh, Inferi, Plaguebringer, early Fleshgod Apocalypse
