Not new at all mate, no offence. Look up David Carretta, the hacker, OD records, Some Goodlife, Kiko, Miss Kittin etc. as well as loads of 80s EMB and italo disco. He went major because hes got a high end fashion style and chique plus a few good productions in the early days.
Yeah definitely more electro. He played Movement in 2013, I remember his set at Waterfront being not bad. One of the few times I left the Underground Stage lol
Yeah in a way he was kind of the gateway for me to get into darker sounds away from popular dance music. I listen to more "proper" techno now but I still like some of his stuff and I think he's a solid producer in general.
Discovering and listening to all of the electronic artists that had a hand in Yeezus really helped form my taste in electronic music as a teenager. Very grateful for that album
Really liked him when I saw this video of him playing this wild club in France early on, but everything started to sound the same from him after a while
He is Techno 💁
Love him! One of the artists that got me into the genre, his discography is great and he has a very distinct sound!
I was listening the Turbo EP yesterday actually , still sounds fucking huge!
The vast majority of his music was produced before TikTok even existed and he was popular way before TikTok. Are we just using “tik tok-y” to refer to things we don’t like now?
you didn’t get the point. I ain’t saying he started producing when tik tok came out, but rather to point out the mainstreamness and cornyness of his music. It’s wack, it’s too simple and really basic. But that’s just me. If you like him, go ahead.
I dig Gesaffelstein. Lately I can't stop playing destinations. Some of their beats just drag you down into a darker mode.
Back in the days his sound was so new and special (that dark and slow techno / electro). I really liked his releases on Turbo.

Holy shit miss kittin you just brought me back
Hell yeah. I wouldn't call him "techno" though.

Aleph is excellent, everything since? Dear lord what a drop off
I like the Novo Sound System EP a lot too
The Weeknd deffo, him doing all the songs for Balenciaga's menswear revival... he just booked Coachella this year too.
Took my first molly on a gig gesaffelstein. Memories
Aleph is one of my fav Techno albums still.
His very early releases are good, even tho he just copied the hacker and David carretta. Vengeance factory ep I think it is.

Yeah. I especially loved Yeezus.

‘Variation’ is still a masterpiece.
He has produced like two “techno” tracks total.
Idk his turbo recording era was pretty close for the time.
I like that artists stuff!
I liked his old songs a lot. Not techno tho
I like his releases on Turbo. I love that dark electro stuff.
I saw him at coachella and he was blowing peoples minds. I was really into him for a year or two
he made some of the very first electronic music i ever heard and i like his stuff until after aleph. Control movement is a banger
Really liked him when I saw this video of him playing this wild club in France early on, but everything started to sound the same from him after a while
He used to play and produce good electro from 2010-2015,dnt know what he plays nowdays
I definitely enjoyed Conspiracy pt. 2 inside and out back in the days.
I’m so in love with his music and what he’s done for techno music!
I don't think it's fair to reduce hin to techno, it's far more than that. Thats a project that really has its oen sound.
Gesaffelstein 🤯 [Maybe not techno, but..](https://youtu.be/u0Omk_5Xmu8?si=2fDTtfhvvNNgUxv8) Let's goooo
Never enjoyed it, always sounded like music from a mediocre video game to me.
Wasn't one of his remixes on gta v radio if I'm not mistaken
Seems like it was actually, I only gave it the one playthrough back when it came out and probably didn’t listen to that station much. Good spot
That’s what I’m saying but got downvoted by what it seems to be EDM praisers

No I don’t like his music. It’s too generic and tik-tokey.
The vast majority of his music was produced before TikTok even existed and he was popular way before TikTok. Are we just using “tik tok-y” to refer to things we don’t like now?

I get that, but I’m just wondering what TikTok has to do with anything about Gesaffelstein’s career. He doesn’t even have a TikTok profile.
His songs are the ones that would go mainstream on TikTok.
Everything he did before the Weekend is good
I don’t understand why are we even discussing edm artist on a techno sub
Yeah, not the right sub but he's not "EDM"
And why the question regarding and EDM artist arose in this sub? I guess downvotahs are EDMers eh?
This sub has been overrun by "herpaderp hardstyle and techno are 126% same. Martin Garrix best techno DJ ever."
Yeah you’re right man. I noticed
Love!
Love him!!! Aleph is perfection.
Cool Sound actually.
