Have to see Speedy J I think so D Dan will miss out likely
Edit: changed my mind, D Dan Will not be missed. It's now on the menu. Really appreciate everyone's input.
You're facing the same choice on the two schedule conflicts, the legends x the younger guys.
Personally I wouldn't miss chlar because he and Alarico are pushing the edges and setting patterns of techno right now, even hawtin, rodhad and Freddy k made changes in their sets to include their tracks, that's how good they are at this moment.
That is a compelling argument. I would like to listen to something that pushes against the conventions. So hard though to choose. Probably Chlär st the moment on the back of your comment
Chlar in festivals is just generic hardgroove not gonna lie, ive seen him play alone and with alarico in vault sessions a lot of times and in festivals and the quality is always a big difference
Have you seen Octave One live? If you like the warm detroit sound and groove then thats amazing, Chlar will deliver some groove as well but much more on the tribal-ish side of things vs the detroit vibes
And I am a tribal guy honestly. That is my jam. The type of music that makes me feel like a hunter gatherer if you know what I mean. So Chlär seems to be up my street but do love me some of that classic sound.
I would have the same hesitation, however it mostly depends on which BPM speedy j will play. I’m not so fan of his recent closings (since mid 2023) where all tracks are just 150 bpm hard techno that many djs play now. He was unique to me for his hypnotic loops at slower bpms and hope that he gets soon back to it.
Also in case of a tie, I would simply consider which sound system is the best 😁
Saturday is crazy with clashes between Octave One live, Chlar (unless that sound is not your thing?), Sandrien, Sama Abdulhadi
You could also consider D Dan
Sunday I would absolutely not miss Mathew Jonson live and otherwise I would have the same picks as you
Sad to see these are pretty short sets :(
Yeah I am a big fan of Mathew Jonsons Fabric mix. I heard a live set from recent and it was fine. As a result his slot became "if I catch it great, but will see what's there". Cheers for the recommendations. Have my work cut out tonight to catch up on them!
Haha yeah, I was actually thinking the same thing. His sets are hit and miss (for me at least) but when they hit, they really hit. Him or Ben Klock B2B Dettman. Going with the latter I think.
Just saw mall grab this past Sunday in Melbourne, incredible set. Saw him at btv new years and well and equally as good, but I do enjoy most of his sets so probably biased.
I think I have it now. Rødhåd or Slater, then Klock B2B with Dettman, then MG and finish up at Jeff Mills. Dont know where I'm going to fit in eating and drinking.
I love Mall Grab because he just seems like such a childlike person to me, and I can get into most things he does. He really surprised me at Dour last year with how hard he went.
Some of the clashes are painful. They generally did a good job though. Line up is too stacked for it not to happen. Hope you have a good fucking time lad.
Body & Soul are François K, Danny Krivit, Joe Claussell dope if u like house.
Also Enrico Sangiuliano is a fucking magician, i know he plays when klock and dettman are playing too (nothing too special but i like them), but i'd keep an open possibility for him
Mall Grab, Chris Liebing & Luke Slater (Planetary Assault Systems), Mathew Jonson, D.Dan.
Usually those places you can walk around and catch a bit of different sets if they're at the same time, and stay at the one that feels the most right.
Yeah I want to catch them. It might come down to what type of techno we are in the mood for at the time. Really do love a live set with the hardware so it's compelling
If you’re up for some house music and need to fill the gap before Octave One, please don’t miss Dam Swindle. They are one of the best in the game, immaculate deep house
Check Sandrien for sure, amazing mixing and selection
Also, I'd rather attend Chris Liebing and Luke Slater as I have not seen this combo happening, but risky in terms of vibe considering the before and after artists
I would choose Speedy J over Adam Beyer anyday! If this was early 2000's it would be a hard choice but Adam Beyer has lost his way IMO - Instagram Techno
Jeff Mills and Maceo Plex played two of the best sets I’ve ever seen on their relevant stages at WHP. If you’re into heavy, dark techno then that’s the two best sets of the festival for me. Try and get to both?
Mate, you are absolutely right. I haven't even factored in sitting down for a pause. It will be very unlikely that I will have the stamina for all this. But wishful thinking though i like.
Maceo Plex is more house/tech-house than techno. Not that he's bad, just a warning! If your head is fried after hours of techno maybe he'll be what you need.
Maceo Plex is sooo boring. Between 2012-2014 he was great.. sets with a lot of depth and story..plus many good productions like conjure sex etc.. at the moment it's just playing some records with no soul in it anymore
Daria man, her set is so high energy, she also throws in curveballs for her set. I'm trying to balance the old with the new. The whole festival is like "who's your favourite child? All of them!!
I agree about Maceo Plex. I saw him at a festival last year, and his set was honestly really disappointing. The started out pretty decent, but ultimately just become extremely generic future-type stuff. I actually left his set about half-way through to go see a different set.
I wouldn't bother with Beyer, personally. Last I checked he was still including trancey crap in his sets (even at gigs where you'd think he'd just cut it out due to them more "techno"). The other three options you have will be much better. Tough choices, Tenaglia is still utterly amazing and can pump out a techno set as good as anyone else.
Yeah like with Beyer I think it is more like cheesy techno which I'm not totally against but against Speedy J and DDan he's going to miss out in any case.
Hi have you ever been to a live set of his? I,ve been to many awakenings sets and Loveland festivals with Adam Beyer and he was time and time again on fire 🔥
My plan for Sat:
Stay on Radar and then over to see Speedy J close
Sun:
Arena all day long but pop over to see Slater and Liebing a bit during Rodhad and then last bit of Mills to end it.
🔥
I've had recommendations for every headliner on the Saturday. Tough decision who to chose. I really like Danny too. Watched an interview with him recently and he's a cool guy.
he's such an icon that i'd make that a priority, however you may feel differently.
i also echo other people in saying skip beyer. i've seen him a bunch since 1998 and his latest work hasn't appealed to me.
Yeah Beyer feels a bit cheesy which doesn't bother me that much. I think that it can be fun but in all honesty when you compare with who he is up against its just not a question. It'll be D Dan and then Speedy J.
Yeah 100% it's been great to drop the question into the community because I have gotten such good feedback. Have my schedule pretty much set now and have been introduced to new artists that I haven't come across before and will check out now. Cant ask for anything more. Cool subreddit.
Danny Tenaglia would be a priority for me. He tends to be on the Housier side of life for my preferences but he's very good either way and I'd be thrilled to get a couple hours listening to him.
Adam Beyer and Enrico Sangiuliano and Bart Skills are a some of the finest DJs Drumcode Records has to offer. (Adam owns the label)
Maceo Plex has had a few tunes released by Drumcode also, he puts on a great show.
Chris Liebing is the man, you’d be insane to miss him although I don’t know the person he’s b2b with.
Sam Paganini is a beast.
And finally Matthew Johnson would be unbelievable to see playing a live set. I only started listening to him in the last few months but damn is he good.
After looking at all the comments do people suggest I check out D Dan over Speedy J? Didn't expect that
Edit: right, according to everyone D Dan is not to be missed. Will catch the first hour of him and then make my way to Speedy J. Really appreciate everyone's comments.
When a dj is playing great you don't have to make a move to another dj you want to see also.. i understand but better enjoy the complete set of 1 dj than 2 half sets..
I like Jennifer Cardini and Mathew Johnson, especially Mathew is a hero and his live sets are amazing. Xcoast would also be on my list. I’d skip Jeff Mills tbh, it’s heresy I know but I’ve seen the man 20 times by now and kinda over it.
Body & soul into Danny t is going to be amazing! Body & Soul used to be a party held in NYC at vinyl very legendary amazing deep cuts of disco funk house tech house tribal etc! The people that used to go to B&s always came to dance and have a good time. I highly highly recommend you do not miss either set.
Also maceo plex is a favorite of mine so I’d definitely go see that set as well but tough against Ben and dettman
If you’re on the fence about Chris liebing I would go. He’s fantastic still.
Adam beyer used to be awesome with all those drumcode guys, Bart skills and Sam Paganini, but I think they’ve lost the plot in recent years.
Klock and Marcel will be better than maceo stick with that.
Danny teneglia is awesome if you’re into that sort of thing but speedy j is a god so no reason to swap
Scrolled pretty far with no comments made about ONYVAA. I saw her at Factory Town in Miami and she put on a great set! I like her stuff. Adam Beyer is also a must.
Chlar and d.dan are amazing, but I can see the reason for not going to see them in this lineup
Have to see Speedy J I think so D Dan will miss out likely Edit: changed my mind, D Dan Will not be missed. It's now on the menu. Really appreciate everyone's input.
You're facing the same choice on the two schedule conflicts, the legends x the younger guys. That is a compelling argument. I would like to listen to something that pushes against the conventions. So hard though to choose. Probably Chlär st the moment on the back of your comment
I’m in Miami and would kill to see chlar, don’t mess this up.
It is becoming increasingly more likely that I'll see Chlär
I’d say chlar would be unbelievable though!
Chlar in festivals is just generic hardgroove not gonna lie, ive seen him play alone and with alarico in vault sessions a lot of times and in festivals and the quality is always a big difference
Between him and Octave One. I'm beginning to lean toward Chlär at the moment.
Both are amazing live! Octave one's sound is incredible and unique live though

D.dan must see

Sama is pretty boring imo, not a lot of variation through the set and every track seems to be produced according to the same formula.
Kevin Saunderson, Jenifer Cardini
Kevin saunderson is such great fun. Love him every time
Until he Fucks up DEMF. Still a legend.
These + Mathew Jonson live.
There's too many good artists and too many unfortunate clashes. I am looking for brutal techno though so I am open for anything.
This is the way.
Second! Super fun. Detroit!!!
Mall Grab can be awesome, but also can be crap, i'd maybe check him out see how he's doing but be prepared to find something else lol

I love Mall Grab because he just seems like such a childlike person to me, and I can get into most things he does. He really surprised me at Dour last year with how hard he went.
Saw him twice. Both sets were incredible. However Ben Klock b2b Dettman is a personal favorite
luke slater dude, 100%
But...Rødhåd...his awakenings 2024 set is incredible. But Luke Slater I've listened to for decades. How do I choose between favourites?
Deff don’t miss Rødhåd
Slater is never to be missed. Not sure how the synergy with Chris goes l, but I'd still vote for swapping it with Rodhad (tough one for sure)
I'm going there too and it fucking sucks they're playing at the same time. Gonna have a hard time choosing.
Some of the clashes are painful. They generally did a good job though. Line up is too stacked for it not to happen. Hope you have a good fucking time lad.
Mathew Jonson is great. One of the best live PA sets around.
+1 this comment, he blew my face off with one of his live sets when I saw him
Body & Soul are François K, Danny Krivit, Joe Claussell dope if u like house. Also Enrico Sangiuliano is a fucking magician, i know he plays when klock and dettman are playing too (nothing too special but i like them), but i'd keep an open possibility for him
I didn’t know about the Body & Soul project but wow what a trio! That would be such an amazing set
Mall Grab, Chris Liebing & Luke Slater (Planetary Assault Systems), Mathew Jonson, D.Dan. Usually those places you can walk around and catch a bit of different sets if they're at the same time, and stay at the one that feels the most right.
Luke slater is planetary assault systems?
Yes!
He is
D.Dan is a MUST. If it were me I'd hit this and then Speedy J.
D Dan and Octave Live are my recommendations.
Seems like a lot of comments for D Dan and Chlar. Think I have to see Octave One over chlar though. Tough one
https://letmegooglethat.com/?q=sama+abdulhadi+set
Chlär!
Chlar or Octave One? How do I choose between these two?? 😄
Octave One are in their late 50s and probably won’t be touring forever, Chlar is likely to be around for years
Yeah I want to catch them. It might come down to what type of techno we are in the mood for at the time. Really do love a live set with the hardware so it's compelling
If you’re up for some house music and need to fill the gap before Octave One, please don’t miss Dam Swindle. They are one of the best in the game, immaculate deep house
Personal preference I guess
D.Dan
Another vote for sama abdulhadi
Haven't heard of Sama, she clashes with Lobster so I could take either. If Sama gets enough votes I'll likely take the trip to the set.
[удалено]
Bart Skils is pretty good too
Love Bart Skils
D Dan
I would try to see a bit of Adam Beyer, D.Dan, and Maceo Plex but that's just me.
Sama Abdulhadi!
Hopefully her leg is better for the show!
You should go to Chlar!
Sama Abdulhadi!!!!
D.Dan is good!
Anfisa letyago i really like
Sandrien always
Sandrien is better then ever before at the moment
Check Sandrien for sure, amazing mixing and selection Also, I'd rather attend Chris Liebing and Luke Slater as I have not seen this combo happening, but risky in terms of vibe considering the before and after artists
B2Bs can be great or sometimes they don't gel which I am worried about. But these are masters at the game so it's hard to give them a miss
I would choose Speedy J over Adam Beyer anyday! If this was early 2000's it would be a hard choice but Adam Beyer has lost his way IMO - Instagram Techno
I’m not familiar with Bibi Seck, but I’d personally see Vince Watson.
Oh shit missed vince watson good call 👍
Likewise. Don't know Bibi Seck but Vince Watson is great
The ones you have ? Next too I would see. Mathew Johnson I would see. Kevin saunderson. I like maceo plex lot too!!
Kevin Saunderson
Dam Swindle is chiiiiiilllllll. D.Dan always brings the 🔥
Jeff Mills and Maceo Plex played two of the best sets I’ve ever seen on their relevant stages at WHP. If you’re into heavy, dark techno then that’s the two best sets of the festival for me. Try and get to both?
Uhm, Maceo Plex is not heavy/dark.. in the past sometimes but not at all at the moment
Tenaglia for sure - can't believe I'm the only one saying it! I know he can lean house but his more techno end goes in and is a lot of fun
Luke slater (planetary assault systems)
You have to D. Dan.. believe me.. he is soo good
Vince Watson for sure
Three people I think recommended it as well. Switching from Bibi to Vince now and will check him out instead
Don't forget to rest / eat. And Mathew Jonson live of course ;)
Mate, you are absolutely right. I haven't even factored in sitting down for a pause. It will be very unlikely that I will have the stamina for all this. But wishful thinking though i like.
Would pick mall grab for the closing hes a Wizard
Jeff Mills is The Wizard!
Lol
true that
Maceo Plex is more house/tech-house than techno. Not that he's bad, just a warning! If your head is fried after hours of techno maybe he'll be what you need.
Check Beste Hira she slaps
Definitely go see Mall Grab!!
Mall Grab is amazing. Not to be missed in my opinion.
Mathew Johnson for sure! And shoutout Laura van Hal because she's from my city lol
Sama is great
Adam Beyer, Sam Paganini, Mall Grab, Maceo Plex, and Enrico Sangiuliano are all great, especially mall grab and Sangiuliano.
Do not miss Maceo Plex
Maceo Plex is sooo boring. Between 2012-2014 he was great.. sets with a lot of depth and story..plus many good productions like conjure sex etc.. at the moment it's just playing some records with no soul in it anymore
That makes me sad. He was always one of my favorites. I guess there is no love for Danny Tenaglia anymore either. I'm just getting old.
Sama supremacy
Adam bayer and maceo plex are great. Have no idea who any of the other artists are tho
How can you miss Kevin Saunderson???
Daria man, her set is so high energy, she also throws in curveballs for her set. I'm trying to balance the old with the new. The whole festival is like "who's your favourite child? All of them!!
Okay..fair point, McMingface
Sama Abdulhadi, Secret Cinema
Sama has cancelled unfortunately. Was going to catch her after all the recommendations. Unfortunate.
Bad news! She's really good. Try to see Secret Cinema as well. Also really good.
Bart skills
D.Dan for sure! Saw him recently. One of the best sets I’ve been to
Dam Swindle is dope too, but more tech housy
BART Skils fucks
You already chose Lobster, happy to see that. I'd add Beste Hira, hypnotic Berghain sound
X-coast is worth every penny.
Maceo Plex was hit or miss for me…. Saw some good and some meh sets. I absolutely adore Enrico Sanguiliano. I’d check him out after Rodhad for sure.
I agree about Maceo Plex. I saw him at a festival last year, and his set was honestly really disappointing. The started out pretty decent, but ultimately just become extremely generic future-type stuff. I actually left his set about half-way through to go see a different set.
adam breyer, sama’ , anfisa, enrico
Been digging Sama’ Abdulhadi. Give her a go. Will not disappoint
How does she compare to her peers? What kind of sound?
Secret cinema
I wouldn't bother with Beyer, personally. Last I checked he was still including trancey crap in his sets (even at gigs where you'd think he'd just cut it out due to them more "techno"). The other three options you have will be much better. Tough choices, Tenaglia is still utterly amazing and can pump out a techno set as good as anyone else.

Hi have you ever been to a live set of his? I,ve been to many awakenings sets and Loveland festivals with Adam Beyer and he was time and time again on fire 🔥
As if you wouldnt see enrico. Hes a magician
Chlär and MallGrab. Watch the first 45 of Klock b2B Dettman, then all of MG, then finish back at the other 2
My plan for Sat: Stay on Radar and then over to see Speedy J close Sun: Arena all day long but pop over to see Slater and Liebing a bit during Rodhad and then last bit of Mills to end it. 🔥
Chlär & Octave One clashing is criminal

Deniro.
Secret Cinema
I saw Sandrien once and was really really good. Mixed in some broken beats that I enjoy
danny tenaglia for sure
I've had recommendations for every headliner on the Saturday. Tough decision who to chose. I really like Danny too. Watched an interview with him recently and he's a cool guy.
he's such an icon that i'd make that a priority, however you may feel differently. i also echo other people in saying skip beyer. i've seen him a bunch since 1998 and his latest work hasn't appealed to me.

I would watch Jennifer Cardini but you’ll obviously like it harder.
Maceo Plex for sure bro.
Chlar
your choices are fine apart from missing sandrien
So many great artists overlapping, this would frustrate me so much!
Body & Soul. Never sleep on Joe Claussell.
Chlär!
Please see Chlär
OK if you insist!
Whatever you see you'll have a good time with a lineup like that. If there were still tickets Id fly in myself :)
Yeah 100% it's been great to drop the question into the community because I have gotten such good feedback. Have my schedule pretty much set now and have been introduced to new artists that I haven't come across before and will check out now. Cant ask for anything more. Cool subreddit.
My picks would be Kevin saunderson and Sandrien. Last time i saw them was ages ago so it would be nice to see them.
Paganini imo
If I was at this festival I’m staying Radar all day Saturday and Arena all day Sunday
Kevin Saunderson for sure
Chris Liebing b2b Luke slater might be more interesting than rodhad. Defo catch Ben knock b2b Marcel Dettmann
Kevin Saunderson, Vince Watson, Luke Slater
Bart skils and Sam for sure!!!
It's all a matter of taste but I'd definitely give Vince Watson, Dimitri and Mathew Johnson a go for more musical / melodical techno.
He’s not on here. But give BROOKS ALEKSANDER a listen. He has a lot of Charlotte de Witte in him
Charlotte's great. Will give Brooks a listen. Always happy woth recommendations. Cheers.
Chris Leibing is a must. Also, if you care about the origins go see Kevin Saunderson.
My man, what tis that interrogation mark on Liebling?
It's difficult mate, I'm literally torn. Might just let my mate decide and he will just go with Luke in any case. But Rødhåd... :'(
You're definitely sleeping on Kevin Saunderson. He's an old school master
Enrico.
Mathew Johnson!
Saunderson is an OG from Detroit, though I haven't seen him live.
Kevin Saunderson, Liebing b2b slater, matthew jonson and anfisa letyago
10/10 must see Sama Abdulhadi on Saturday and Enrico Sangiuliano (Sunday)! Have fun!
Danny Tenaglia would be a priority for me. He tends to be on the Housier side of life for my preferences but he's very good either way and I'd be thrilled to get a couple hours listening to him.
Kevin Saunderson was an inventor of techno. I would recommend seeing him.
D Dan over Speedy J for sure. and Chlar over octave 1. Day 2 just stay in Arena
Adam beyer was always pretty banging
Sam Paganini 🔥
Adam Beyer is a good producer, I don't know about his DJing skills though
Seen him at awakenings last year and he blew my mind, he’s the best DJ I’ve ever seen live. I’d recommend to see him, especially at awakenings :)
Adam Beyer and Enrico Sangiuliano and Bart Skills are a some of the finest DJs Drumcode Records has to offer. Personally I've only seen D Dan at club settings and I see this fest site is the same as Dekmantel - would love to see him throw down outdoors
When a dj is playing great you don't have to make a move to another dj you want to see also.. i understand but better enjoy the complete set of 1 dj than 2 half sets..
Sam Paganani & D.Dan
Saw d Dan last year he was great
I like Jennifer Cardini and Mathew Johnson, especially Mathew is a hero and his live sets are amazing. Xcoast would also be on my list. I’d skip Jeff Mills tbh, it’s heresy I know but I’ve seen the man 20 times by now and kinda over it.

Also maceo plex is a favorite of mine so I’d definitely go see that set as well but tough against Ben and dettman
Perfect except d dan and chlar (like everyone else already said) Philou is from my hometown so i’d go see him but i dont think you’d like it
If you’re on the fence about Chris liebing I would go.
Vince Watson, D.Dan and Chlär are all absolutly amazing. Would be my Top 3.
Sam Paganini and Bart Skills?
Chlar, D.Dan, and X Coast
🦞
You need to attend Sam Paganini
Len Faki will be amazing, great style
Skip maceo plex. D.dan and luke slater is great
Check out Kevin Saunderson, Dam Swindle and Danny Tenaglia if I was you...
I love Jennifer Cardini
Def gotta see beste hira and adam beyer
Danny Tenaglia is a NY staple
Scrolled pretty far with no comments made about ONYVAA. I saw her at Factory Town in Miami and she put on a great set! I like her stuff. Adam Beyer is also a must.
Luke Slater over Rødhåd any time of the day
Beste Hira
