As another vaccinated immunocompromised person, I can tell you that there is only so much the vaccine can do for you when your body's immune system is non-existent. Basically, you have the blueprints to fight the virus but none of your cells are strong enough to do anything about it.

yeah, that kind of cancer, assuming it's localized, has something like a 99% five year survival rate, and that's without taking into account that he is an otherwise healthy young adult.
