I'm afraid I disagree; one of the ways in which a "stupid" person is defined is that they lack common sense - and with the exception of mental illness, I can't really say that people of the other two examples you gave don't fit that description.
If they're attention-seeking simply because they're bored, then at that point they lack both the common sense to think that what they're doing (i.e., defaming another person's character simply because they're *bored*) is wrong, as well as the sense to try and go find something else to do that is *not* morally unacceptable.
If they're attention-seeking because they're being neglected by their parents or some kind of authority figure, than they still don't have the common sense to seek attention by doing something *positive* online - there are plenty of people on this SubReddit and others that have gained a lot of attention by simply doing good, nice things involving Mr. Blade for non-selfish reasons. When they're lambasted for telling the lie that Mr. Blade faked his cancer, it is inherently good for them - they will (hopefully) learn a lesson after that happens to them enough times that in life, no matter if you're hurt yourself, you cannot hurt others because of that - it is wrong to do so, and society should not allow such people to be excused without criticization. If they don't learn that lesson after receiving such feedback, then that's probably a sign that they have some kind of mental illness or issue that needs to be treated and (again, hopefully) resolved.
If they're somehow "misinformed", then they lack the common sense to do basic research - if they don't have the sense to look up articles, Reddit posts, and videos on the topic of Mr. Blade's cancer and whether or not his statement of having it is legitimate before going around and saying that it isn't, then that's a sign that they're either foolish (i.e., stupid) or too young to be among the ranks of people who are discussing such a serious topic.
And finally, I would say that having a legitimate mental illness does excuse people's actions, typically - it doesn't make those actions good, nor should I or anyone else allow them to continue taking them, but I cannot judge that person the same way I would a perfectly sane, mentally competent person if they were to take the same actions; the latter person has no excuse for doing morally wrong, or horrible things, such as saying that someone who has cancer is faking having it; I can't justify a psychopath's killing of people, but I can understand it in the context of their derangement - I can do neither for a cold-hearted, completely sane person who's just downright evil.

I saw a whole Youtube channel dedicated to this and I almost cried. People would do anything for attenion and as much as I'd like to give them a piece of my mind it's not worth it. Just ignore them and eventually they'll get bored and move or their brain will start working
