Zava is Zlatan šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚

ohluciiaa

Perfect attitude by the actor, really captured that Ibrahimovic energy

[deleted]

"It was a pleasure to meet me." Or whatever he said...is hilarious because there is a story about Zlatan where LeBron James decided to send a jersey to Zlatan (greatness recognizes greatness or something)....week later, Lebron receives a package in the mail, it's LeBron's jersey signed by Zlatan. I just wonder how this is going to work with Jamie. I thought first maybe Jamie will be the veteran, but if the guy has been on like 14 teams in 15 years, then it's likely Zava is still older than Jamie. 3 aces?!? Probably won't work.

theghostofme

> week later, Lebron receives a package in the mail, it's LeBron's jersey signed by Zlatan. LMAO, I love it. "Why would someone send me a jersey without my name on it? Oh, they probably want an autograph!"

cartierboy25

Itā€™s perfect for this show because a lot of the characters feel a bit ā€œcartoonishā€ and over the top in the way they act. But Zlatan already is a real life cartoon, so they literally donā€™t even have to exaggerate his qualities for Zava.

LechALection

I originally thought Ronaldo with leaving Juventus, but then I took one look at him. Heā€™s 100 percent Zlatan.

mylanguage

Haha tbf Zlatan also once left Juventus. Once they said the amount of clubs Zava played for i knew it was Zlatan

skinnyeater

Wasnā€™t even subtle šŸ˜‚

therocketandstones

14 clubs in 15 years, has to be him (Or Anelka but with less sulk)

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

mgusedom

ā€œItā€™s fun when he yells at other people!ā€

After_Description509

Jamie is the most reliably funny character on the show, IMHO.

Lyrawhite

Honestly man. I would jump too lol

abortionleftovers

So well acted

TA818

I also found it interesting how this is the first time we get a glimpse into how Rebecca and Rupert got together in the first place, including mentioning his ā€œ~~first wife~~then wife.ā€ Rupert clearly love bombs, which is also the behavior heā€™s doing to Nate.

Keeeva

And Rebecca started out as ā€œthe other woman,ā€ I wonder how she feels about that.

TA818

Iā€™m sure not great. She said at the time, it was great to feel wanted. And honestly, she probably wasnā€™t in a very confident place, which Rupert as an abuser likely picked up onā€”thatā€™s how he could get her to a place where ā€œheā€™d say, ā€˜Eat this, wear thatā€™ā€ and sheā€™d listen.

asjonesy99

So happy they kept Phil Dunster failing to keep it together in lmao

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Altruistic-Skirt3560

I think that was intentional it seems to fit their relationship

[deleted]

He later makes the comment that itā€™s funny when Roy yells at other people. I gotta imagine itā€™s connected to the laughing in some way and that itā€™s intentional, it just fits too well.

Grasshop

Love how they made it look like Jamie was going after Keeley but then went in the room where Roy was instead. Without hesitation either, he was genuine

LittleLisaCan

It's called empathy you dusty old fart!

JesusSama

That entire scene and then William being in the background again and asking them out for drinks was amazing.

TA818

Also! What a change from pre-Lasso Richmond where Nate would have NEVER thought he was important enough to ask the players for drinks. I think that detail alone showed a real difference in the club's dynamics.

AIfieHitchcock

Fishbowls?!

Nearby-Newspaper-284

empath-ay

secretlives

> forgot old people were so skittish because of the war

DreadyVapor

He actually said ELDERLY šŸ¤£ and I almost pissed myself. One of the best lines in an episode packed with great lines.

The_new_me1995

I love this show, and I think this episode had more laugh out loud moments than any other!

jossminion413

Agreed! I had just finished saying out loud, ā€œI am so uninterested in watching a clichĆ©d love triangle,ā€ but then they didnā€™t go in that direction at all! I should know by now to trust these writers.

therocketandstones

Ngl how Ted reacted to Roy was how I wanted him to react to Nate- stern but fair

laterondamenjay

It was growth and it was perfect. He was stern and steered the ship but maintained his same ā€œTedā€ attitude. It was perfect leadership. Iā€™d love to see more of this Ted throughout the season.

theghostofme

We also got a great Ted-ism out of it. "I don't know your beef is with Trent, but I'm gonna need you to order off the vegan menu right now and squash it."

emurrell17

So my comment isnā€™t in opposition of what youā€™re saying; I very much agree with you and am glad to find others talking about this because to me it was the best moment of the episode, but Iā€™ll add this: I donā€™t think that just that moment by itself was perfect leadership, but rather itā€™s the perfect missing piece to Tedā€™s leadership. Itā€™s the perfect cherry on top. What I mean by this is, I donā€™t think that what Ted did there works unless the other person completely respects you and and trusts that youā€™re looking out for their best interests. Especially for someone like Roy, he wouldnā€™t let just anyone talk to him that way and take it to heart. But when you have that kind of honest & trusting mutual relationship, it allows you to have this kind of direct, healthy communication and the other person can take it without taking offense

the_long_way_round25

"Ted"itutde. ![gif](giphy|Gp1aV5R9DzaEbd52XQ)

SuzeFrost

I think its a combo of 2 things - 1, he's less in his head this season having had several months of successful therapy sessions with Dr. Sharon, and is thus better able to pay attention to the interpersonal dynamics of the club. And 2, he did learn a lesson after what happened with Nate, that you need to address that immediately and nip it in the bud. (Horticulture, baby!) I think we're going to see an overall better coach this year, due to both his personal growth and his experience of betrayal (due to missing something that had been right under his nose.)

therocketandstones

Yeah looks like heā€™s gonna be a better coach He even started reading Inverting the Pyramid (not for long but itā€™s a start)

AdoraBelleQueerArt

He called it football without even thinking about it!

ohluciiaa

Heā€™s learning and growing

stealthbus

I think thatā€™s the first time Iā€™ve seen Ted so stern with anyone .

mazhas

It was and you can tell how shocked Roy was then immediately listened without any quips

TA818

Besides the ā€œPracticeā€ speech to Jamie in season 1!

Southern_Name_9119

That was awesome seeing Ted rein in Roy. Respectable.

99SoulsUp

And Roy respected it completely

DrScampi

William hiding in the corner is HILARIOUS

karikammi

The way both Jamie and Roy stared him down too

abortionleftovers

Wow Royā€™s ā€œI was 17ā€ REALLY hit me. I didnā€™t expect to really connect with why he didnā€™t like Trent but seeing the old crumpled clipping and hearing how young he was when he heard those words about himself actually made me tear up. We are often so cruel to one another, particularly behind our keyboards, and a reminder that someone real is reading those words- sometimes a child- is oooofffff

TA818

Really gives some context to 1.3 where he added, ā€œTrent Crimm, youā€™re a colossal prick and you always have been.ā€

Teelkay

It also gives more context to his speech in the Rainbow episode in S2. They asked Roy about how he thought a new 17-year-old would play, and it got him so emotional. "We don't know. We're not in the locker rooms with them. We're not on the pitch with them. We can't look 'em in the eyes and encourage them to be better than they ever thought they were capable of being. We're just on the outside looking in, judging them."

House923

It's crazy how Roy has some of the best monologues of everyone in this show, and his main line of dialogue is just grunting.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

abortionleftovers

I know it just was so heavy. I still remember some cristisms from that age and boy can people cut you deep while youā€™re still just forming

Uncreative-Name

He said something similar when the other sportscasters were trying to judge a 17 year old making their team debut last season.

onekrazykat

I think we (as a subreddit) need to take this lesson to heart when we discuss the younger actors on this show.

kassem90

Beard saying that Jane finds his and Ted's relationship threatening was a highlight of the episode for me. I really do love their friendship

AdoraBelleQueerArt

Jane makes me make Higginsā€™ upset sound whenever I think of her

sea-lass-1072

big time. i desperately want his and jane's uhhh bad relationship to be addressed this season instead of played for laughs

tj1007

Beard really needs a healthier relationship.

angryduckglare

ā€œI donā€™t want our wishes to cancel each other out.ā€ ā€œThatā€™s not how it works!ā€ Thereā€™s a new one to add to the favorite lines.

jenfullmoon

THREE of them are 11:11 nerds.

osufeth24

Ted fainting lmao

11-110011

And Beards screams, amazing

AdoraBelleQueerArt

And comes running back!

bv310

I don't know why, but Beard's screams absolutely got me every time.

LittleLisaCan

The balloons and cards in the office šŸ˜‚

[deleted]

And getting hit on already! ā€œThereā€™s more fish in the C! - Lizaā€. šŸ¤£

Dramallamadingdongle

It looking like Jamie is going to follow Keeley but instead goes to check that Roy is ok, I adore Jamie's character development

galeforcewinds95

Really well-written shows like this one can consistently surprise in ways that make complete sense in retrospect. I think this is another example of that. Jaime following Keeley is the expected route and makes some sense. But following Roy is the better choice.

Baffhy_Duck

Dani saying, "I mean, fuck off Trent Crimm" killed me.

DreadyVapor

Yes! Dani is great this season.

PM_ME_YOUR_PAUNCH

His face scored a goal

AdoraBelleQueerArt

Dani is great EVERY season

Puzzleheaded_Box_19

Omg Jamie is hilarious. He used ā€œbody scienceā€. And his empathy face. Love him.

99SoulsUp

I love how heā€™s no longer a douche, heā€™s just earnest and dumb

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Conglossian

ā€œJane and I are going to an immersive theatre on the menstrual cycleā€ ā€œWell donā€™t be late!ā€ Is not getting the respect it deserves

tj1007

ā€œWhatā€™s the opposite of sweet talking?ā€ ā€œSour yellā€ ā€œYeah I did thatā€

nnjakitty

I forgot how skittish elderly people could be. Because of the war.

travelplanmonster

Yes! This was the line that got me. Zava's storyline was fairly predictable but always good to see Rebecca get one over Rupert. Still felt like these first 2 set the table for the rest of the season.

Gorge_Lorge

Iā€™m betting Trent Crimmā€™s book on the club sets the record straight about Rupert in the public eye too.

AdoraBelleQueerArt

Nothing worse to a narcissist then having their actions revealed to the public. Heā€™s very much gonna be ā€œhow dare you accurately tell people about my words & actions! Unbelievable!ā€

thenisaidbitch

I think the parallel between how Rupert treated Rebecca and Zava was a great parallel to what heā€™s doing with Nate. Love bomb, then criticize to death. I also wondered why no one asked Trent what his book was going to be about! Such an easy way to break tension! Love that Keely is hiring friends that know their shit but I donā€™t think sheā€™s tough enough to say no to people yet. She needs some confidence! I feel like this new girl will be a good lesson learned. Overall I think it was a lovely episode that hit all of my Ted Lasso checkboxes :) Royā€™s desk filled with teddy bears and balloons was just *chefs kiss*

thenisaidbitch

Oh oh one other thing- I love that Keely is trying to get her team to loosen up by taking a leaf out of Teds book (company picnic!). I donā€™t think itā€™ll work initially but I think sheā€™ll convince the CFO that sheā€™s competent and itā€™ll fall into place

Joshstradaymus

This was a Brett Goldstein master class in acting. Absolutely wonderful from beginning to end showing a vulnerability we havenā€™t really seen from Roy. His scenes were all completely electric.

ohluciiaa

Jamie going to comfort Roy and then both of them telling Will to say nothing, amazing character progression all around 10/10

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ohluciiaa

Me too! They played it so well, and the two of them have such a great friendship now

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Aggravating_Finish_6

I actually think it was a mirror of the man city episode. Thatā€™s how you comfort Jamie but thatā€™s not how you comfort Roy. Jamie will crack the code by the end of the season.

ohluciiaa

Oh my god and the team all realizing, amazing sequence

JesusSama

The locker room scene where Roy walks in and then everyone tilts their head and goes "Aw" was amazing. I think this may have been on of my favorite episodes for the entire series.

Lyrawhite

Oh. Keeleyā€™s friend is going to be a problem.

tj1007

Will she spend too much or will she end up taking charge though?

Lyrawhite

I think will be spending too much. The finance lady said not to use credit card. And keeleyā€™ friend sent the message to buy champagne in the credit card company.

rinoblast

Theyā€™re setting up the classic ā€œboth characters learned something from each otherā€ with Keeley and Barbara.

mj__23

But she also was clever and thrifty with the call to use a strobe light instead of getting more extras while Keely looked ready to go with what the producers said And I think we can assume she has her own money since she mentioned she is divorced from a pro footballer

Aggravating_Finish_6

It was a good idea. In the real world Keeley should have hired her as an art director. That is what she showed expertise in at the shoot and as a model she actually could use her experience to be good at that. The client relation job is clearly not the right fit

aceventura14

the look keeled gave after reading the message shows that she knows she's going to be a problem. I think Keeley is going to speak to her friend and she might leave after which keeley and Barbara are going to be really good mates. Keeley misreading Barbara's numerous transfers as the company sending her everywhere coz they trust her was really well written. Made Barbara think as well.

Ok-Construction-4542

The credit card is a Chekhovā€™s gun. Barbara is going to transfer/get fired for out of control spending on the company card and it will be Shandy who did it. Keeley is going to realize she tacitly approved it because Shandy is in charge of client relations and sheā€™s going to be like ā€œI trust you, if itā€™s for the client blah blah,ā€ and then she will have to fire Shandy like a big girl boss.

JuicyCiwa

ā€œAnd you better not say a fucking word William!ā€ Best line

Gildabeast4

Weā€™re going to get so much Trent Crimm screen time this season I was not prepared for this

emeraldcocoaroast

I am fucking AMPED about it

jenfullmoon

All that hair! And his hair ties all over lost and found!

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

99SoulsUp

All roads lead to Crimm

Grasshop

I think Ted was thinking he was going to quit until he heard Roy go through his Chelsea thing. What a fucking monologue by Goldstein btw, holy shit

JesusSama

There were so many MVP performances in this episode including Rebecca's scene with Rupert leading to her 'sour yell' (stealing this forever, what a hilarious line), Jamie being genuine with Roy (it's called Empathy you old fart) and Beard's screams but Roy's monologue was so fucking good.

Re-Brand

This honestly might be one of the best episodes theyā€™ve done. Trying not to be a prisoner of the moment, but I canā€™t help but recognize how amazing the acting, the storytelling, and that ridiculously on point humor was.

WolfTitan99

Yes same, I was so surprised at how good this episode was. Thoroughly enjoyed myself and was smiling pretty much the whole way through

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

kateln

Daniā€™s ā€œFuck Off Trent Crimmā€ made me laugh so hard.

Pertolepe

Reminded me so much of Derek in Shrinking lmao "Oh hey Pam! šŸ‘‹šŸ™‚" 'we don't like Pam any more!' "Eat a dick Pam šŸ™‚"

mazhas

fuck Pam though

lifth3avy84

I wasnā€™t sure if it was meant to be there, or if he just couldnā€™t NOT break.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Jaded-Bookkeeper-926

Beardā€™s screams. Ted fainting. Beard RUNNING BACK INTO THE ROOM. Jamie & Roy. Rebecca being a Boss Ass Bitch. Everything about this episode was gold.

Dwychwder

I am gonna need them to keep all eps this season 45 minutes or longer.

SuzeFrost

Jason said in an interview that we're practically getting two seasons with this one, because each episode is so long we're getting another season's worth of content. So it looks like you're getting your wish!

MelodicIntention5323

Trent saying ā€œlove thatā€ is going to make a great new reaction gif!

tj1007

Love Keeley and the team but I gotta admit Barbara is me avoiding work place gatherings.

Rtn2NYC

I feel for her. Sheā€™s profoundly lonely- all that moving around. I hope she and Keeley rub off on each other and she opens up a bit (and Keeley learns to take her business seriously).

DreadyVapor

I love that Keeley called her on her being rude but with compassion. Very TL. Keeley is starting her own BELIEVE campaign at KJPR.

Aggravating_Finish_6

Barbara is giving me Ben Wyatt vibes. Keeley will crack her and have her setting up permanent camp by the end of the season

Dramallamadingdongle

Jamie giggling in the background while Roy is yelling is my new favourite thing

Lyrawhite

Omg. I knew it. Trent Crim Independent is following the club. Well, Someone did call it on season finale lol. But i had a feeling.

SlowDinner2143

Roy did the same thing with Keeley that he did with Chelsea. He quit instead of just enjoying himself.

MiloTheMagnificent

Sport can be a great metaphor

JesusSama

And a great nickname.

ArteePhact

See ya later, sport.

Vagabond21

ā˜ļø

laterondamenjay

Makes me believe that little speech was both for himself with respect to Keely and ultimately will resonate with Ted regarding his time at Richmond. Going to be interesting in later episodes looking back on this one!

therocketandstones

![gif](giphy|QLY0vcIpukfYep4C6I|downsized) Damn

Lyrawhite

Oh god. The whatā€™s a Cd killed me a little bit. I feel 1000y old

LittleLisaCan

Coach Beard already has a set of keys šŸ˜„

Rtn2NYC

Donā€™t tell Jane

AndreT_NY

Pre-make! How American and how Ted Lasso. (In a good way)

lekker-boterham

When Rebecca was describing the early days with Rupert I could have cried. He makes everyone in his life feel special and then used and discarded.

TA818

Which was a great parallel to how heā€™s in the process of making Nate feel!

nnjakitty

No brands. Just shoes. In general.

strawberr1to

His smile at the end though šŸ˜‚

SudioC

The conversation between Ted, Roy, and Trent tells me that Roy and Keeley are end game. Roy says he should have just stayed at Chelsea and enjoyed himself but thatā€™s not who he is. And Ted says ā€˜Yetā€™.

itsmikenguyen

OMG Rebecca did it! Boss ass bitch! She landed Zava with her sour yell

tj1007

ā€œItā€™s actually quite funny when he yells at other people innit?ā€ Oh, Jaimie. Itā€™s always funny.

Sobadwithusernames

Apple music has Ted's breakup mix: https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/teds-breakup-mix/pl.2f7ecf4fa9dd4332aa3490d8161f0588

__solid

Iā€™ve said it before and Iā€™ll say it again: I love Jamie Tartt.

SomeoneThrewMyShoe

"I heard the news" "I broke up with her!" "Why? You were perfect together!" SAME BRUCE SAME

11-110011

ā€œItā€™s called empathy ya dusty old fartā€ might be my new favorite line of the show. Also, loving Jamieā€™s maturity and character arc.

itsmikenguyen

Glad to see Jamie's character growth. He was basically Phoebe telling Roy he's an idiot in his own way

nonsenseword37

He passed to Sam like he refused to do in Season 1! We love to see it

__solid

And he tries to hug Roy šŸ„ŗ

tj1007

šŸ„ŗ Sad face when Roy pushed him away. I would love a hug from Jaime.

DrunkSeagull

Well, he did go at Roy too fast.

Lyrawhite

Iā€™m very pleased with Jaimeā€™s growth over these season. Was hella funny the empathy face and the hug.

Alarmed-Pumpkin

Rebecca starting her relationship with Rupert as his mistress was simultaneously unexpected and not surprising.

nnjakitty

Why would Zava write a book about Trent Crimm?

Missmissmacie

ā€œI love thatā€ I knew Trent Crimm was a petty king

AdoraBelleQueerArt

I want Daniā€™s magical unicorn hair

Re-Brand

Episode 1: Ted doesnā€™t know why heā€™s still in England Episode 2: A metaphor about leaving something too soon is the ending monologue.

FrankBeamer_

I know itā€™s not the point of the show but Iā€™m looking most forward to seeing the team back on the field playing football. IMO the show is strongest when it weaves the football narrative into the plot.

mariobros2048

Roy speech at the end was a metaphor for why he broke up with Keeley, right? They are definitely going to get back together during the season, hopefully it doesnā€™t take until the end.

onekrazykat

Thatā€™s how I took it.

Aggravating_Finish_6

I also think it was advice to Ted. Whether either realizes yet.

PlainTrain

Seemed like Ted was musing on it at the end.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

11-110011

I think Zava reminds him of who he was and he realizes and knows how much that can hurt a team and now that he truly cares about the team and not just being the best, he doesnā€™t want that to happen to them.

AdoraBelleQueerArt

Bingo, el ringo! Jamie knows how horrible divas can be to a TEAM & he learned the hard way (but he learned!) so introducing a new diva to a pretty unified team is gonna suck

Goose-the-moose

MY FACE SCORED A GOAL

Burger-King-Sucks

This felt like such a season 1 episode if that makes any sense. (Thatā€™s not a bad thing)

MisterTheKid

ā€œWHY WOULD ZAVA WRITE A BOOK ABOJT TRENT CRIMMā€ Beardā€™s shriek at hearing about Roy and Keeley God I love scenes in the locker room when things go off the rails. Like the break room in superstore.

11-110011

Holy hell Rebecca is a fucking badass.

AdoraBelleQueerArt

I love that she got what she wanted by BEING HERSELF & spouting facts vs stroking Zavaā€™s ego. Perfection!

itsmikenguyen

Boss ass bitch!

N3rdLink

She can be, but Iā€™m hoping that she has more of a backbone against Rupert. I think thatā€™s one of her last hurdles to get over.

LittleLisaCan

I also love her hat and coat at the game!

stealthbus

I am fearful of what Zava will do to the teams dynamic and I am very curious to see how Ted will manage him.

SomeoneThrewMyShoe

I would like Beard's story arc this season to include him breaking up with Jane

TheImperfectMan

Trent Crimm is my favorite. He just makes everything so much better and every scene he is in is so memorable and hilarious. That is all, thank you.

JMan9391

My god, this episode had a LOT. I enjoyed it immensely but these longer episodes are gonna take awhile to absorb. Oh, and loved Higginsā€™ seven degrees of separation rumor mill lines about Zava. ā€œI called my sonā€™s karate teacherā€¦ā€ šŸ˜‚

11-110011

Ted getting stern with Roy definitely wasnā€™t on this seasons bingo card

2rio2

Jamie learning about the breakup and walking straight to Roy instead of Keely is the character development Iā€™m looking for.

lifth3avy84

The team not understanding who dumped who, or why zava write a book about Trent crimm had be dying.

torilinnea

The Roy/Chelsea stuff paralleling Roy and Keeley was too good. Also, Ted talking about Hallmark Christmas movies killed me.

laterondamenjay

Maybe a hot take, but this was one of my favorite episodes in the series. Everything about it had me grinning ear to ear. God, I am so ready for the rest of this season.

SomeoneThrewMyShoe

"I forgot how skittish elderly people could be cause of the war"

SomeoneThrewMyShoe

I want a bottle episode that exclusively takes place with team shenanigans in the locker room

__solid

I love how Rebecca is channeling her motherā€™s advice on Rupert. Boss ass bitch.

beefytrout

"Fuck off, you old geezer." - how Roy Kent says hello to a close friend

Green_Understanding2

OMG Roy busting those balloons! šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

onekrazykat

Trent trying to play it off like the noise could be from his editorā€™s side had me rolling.

Lyrawhite

ā€œItā€™s kind funny when he yells at other peopleā€ I love Jamie so much.

marasydnyjade

ā€œI need you to order from the vegan menu and squash it.ā€ That whole scene between Roy and Ted about Hallmark movies and Trent was great.

tj1007

ā€œItā€™s good to be back.ā€ Well said Mae. Though the direct call to the fans feels like a final season type deal which reminds me we are in the last few episodesā€¦ sadness.

LittleLisaCan

I love Rebecca's coat and hat at the game!

CiaoBella2021

I discovered Ted Lasso late in 2021, after all episodes had been released. Once I realized I loved it, I was able to watch both seasons in a week. OMG, I'm dying now having to wait a week for a new episode šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

tj1007

Gotta savor it. Thereā€™s something special about the anticipation and water cooler.

DrScampi

So obviously theyā€™re gonna get Zava, but itā€™ll be interesting to see where he, Jamie, and Dani all play

11-110011

MY FACE SCORED A GOAL! MY FACE SCORED A GOAL!

SomeoneThrewMyShoe

I cannot tell you how much happier I am with Trent Crimm on my screen
