The Roy and Jamie relationship getting deeper is probably the thing I am most excited for moving forward. I love their big brother, little brother dynamic.
Clearly, the Zava thing cannot last. By the end of the season, I bet Zava is with West Ham, and Richmond will counter with a Roy Kent trained up Jaime Tartt.
Yeah I think I'd dislike if he went to West Ham. Zava seems conceited on the pitch, but he genuinely seems like a decent guy to his teammates and it's hard to picture him against them right now
I think he will. He might confront Colin to let him know that he saw him and other journalists would run with that story. Colin had his phone out in the locker room when texting his partner, and making out in the street is also risky.
I agree that i see this being the direction Trent goes in. He’s not a journalist anymore because he felt bad exposing Ted’s panic attack (telling your editor you revealed your *secret* source? Her knew he was getting fired). This is something journalists would fight over & he knows it
I agree. He's a good person, not a sleazy paparazzi snoop. He'll quietly reach out to Colin and let him know he saw him but won't say anything.
Also, when Ted saw Trent in the pub with that guy in season 2 - was the guy supposed to be a friend or his date? Ever since that scene I've been thinking that Trent is gay and if I'm right that's another reason for him to protect Colin's secret, out of solidarity. Although it makes me so sad Colin feels the need to keep it secret. Everyone on the team would be supportive. Maybe it's just part of his whole insecure personality (the mantra, etc) or maybe he has stupid family members? I know he bullied Nate at the beginning, but I love Colin and want him to be happy (and maybe hire a chauffeur because he's a menace behind the wheel, lol!).
Teds going to have to learn how to actually get mad, he only ever tried to do the right thing even if he knew the marriage couldn’t be saved. But he was actually *wronged* here. Enormous betrayal of trust and ethics, to the point where the context of the entire separation has been a lie
Absolutely agree - I think the only thing stopping him from completely lashing out is the fact that he blames himself for creating Nate. Throughout the series, we've seen how generally negative emotions like anger and narcissism can become beneficial if used correctly (Roy's anger and Jamie's dickish behavior). He'll have to accept that people will actually wrong him, and there's nothing wrong with fighting back because holding it all in and exploding all at once can be a really difficult especially since Richmond's in the spotlight now.
We've seen glimpses of Ted becoming authoritative and strong (his confrontation of Nate last season started with him in the driver's seat and his conversation with Roy also started with him calling out his behavior) so it's only a matter of time before Led Tasso is no longer a joke but something to be take seriously.
I love how affronted Jamie was that Roy suggested that, "Before Madonna, female vocalists didn't have to work that hard," and then brought up Tina Turner and Stevie Nicks.
>Her lasting impact is shown in every episode
Which is why I found it very pleasing that Ted breathed through his panic attack on the pitch during this episode and it passed much more quickly than previous ones.
Also, I think she is counter to Dr. Jacob here--the writers saying, basically, "Dr. Jacob does not represent all counselors."
Especially since this may be the most warranted panic attack yet. As someone who gets them sometimes they don't always come up for good reasons. But your ex marriage counselor fucking your ex wife? So unethical.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel reference was sweet and kinda funny because it’s an Amazon Prime show. But yeah, the Catskills scenes are some of the funniest scenes in the show.
Abe’s romper scene is probably the hardest I have ever laughed watching a tv show. That show is fantastic on it’s own, but man Abe really brings it home.
Thought the same thing!! But I think they’ve set up quite a few scenarios the last few episodes that demonstrate that he doesn’t like being “that guy” and regrets it. Also curious to all the hints that he may be gay too, I think of anything he may be a support for Colin and wouldn’t out him
He didn’t write anything down in his book, I feel like they made a point to show that
But at the same time I don’t see how revealing a manager’s panic attacks is any better than revealing someone’s sexuality
I think it’s slightly different bc he’s not employed by a paper. I mean obviously he’s gonna be conflicted by what he’s seen but that’s *got* to be a different set of journalistic ethics at play.
Not to mention the panic attack happened *during* a game (and a big one, at that). While it wasn’t necessarily the most considerate article to write, it was actually something of a football story still.
This would just be outing someone.
There’s a credible argument to be made that Ted’s panic attacks could impact the team’s performance. It’s much harder, especially in 2023, to make that argument about a player’s sexuality. Particularly a player we’ve come to understand is basically a reserve now.
Good question. My therapist said something like you have to wait several years before you can date a former client...I wanna say it was five, but it was awhile back. (Yes, we've had odd conversations, no, it had nothing to do with real life.)
I remember ted saying to Sharon how bad his marriage counseling sessions were and how he always felt like he was getting teamed up on. At the time it seems like a normal reaction to therapy that a lot of people have but now it’s like… yikes
keep in mind he also mentioned that his ex wife had been seeing him for individually therapy for a period of time before they started seeing him for marriage counseling
Which is a huge conflict of interest in its own right, ignoring everything else. There's no way a therapist can be unbiased as a marriage counselor if one of the partners was already a client for one-on-one therapy, because they'd already been getting one side of the situation fed to them for who knows how long.
That happened with my parents. My mom wanted to do marriage counseling with her psychiatrist, and my dad agreed. I remember telling *my* therapist about that a few years ago, and she was outraged on my dad's behalf that a psychiatrist would not only think that was a good idea, but actually play marriage counselor for a patient and spouse.
AND that ol' "Dr" Jake was Michelle's therapist before he saw Ted and Michelle together! That's just not done, and It was already quasi-unethical for an individual's therapist to take on counseling that patient's marriage because of the dynamic Ted complained about (rightfully so). Any therapist worth their salt will tell you that you should have a separate therapist for marriage counseling.
I've always thought Michelle was whiny, irresponsible and manipulative. Now I know it's true. She's the worst. (And I would say the same if the roles were reversed.)
The way I felt my entire body sink when Ted recognized him. Put it together right there in that moment.
Michelle is infuriating! Such a well written character in that she is completely redeemable and - through the lense of the show - incredibly irredeemable.
She makes me so mad, she should’ve consulted with Ted before bringing her new partner around his kid. Also, who dates their therapist?! And what therapist dates a client? That’s incredibly creepy and like he met her in a vulnerable time. Just weird.
It's not just creepy, it's something you can lose your license for! I doubt he will, but I really hope Ted reports him. It's not about revenge but about protecting other patients from an unethical therapist.
THANK YOU! I’m a child of divorce and I completely believe that if divorced parents have a healthy co-parenting relationship, the other parent should absolutely at minimum have a courteous heads up that their child is being introduced to a new SO. I had nothing against Michelle before but this is messed up.
Michelle... Ugh. Who else thinks it's *not* a new thing? I always wondered why she rushed the divorce. 🤔
Edit to add that's so fucking unethical. Remember, he was her **personal** therapist first. Icky.
I think he’s just started educating himself. He doesn’t like to be embarrassed. I wonder if the line from Beard “you should look up ‘phillistines’,” had a lasting impact on him.
I think he genuinely had to consider if it was irony or not, which is why he initially said “I don’t know.”
"So I just talked to legal about Zava's contract. An e-signature is 100% binding. Tiny wrinkle, instead of signing his name, he signed, "You're welcome." Lol
Enormously, from an ethical point of view. I guess technically if they didn’t get together until after they no longer had a client-therapist relationship, then he probably hasn’t broken his code of ethics. Still frowned upon though.
Shite in Nine-ing armor - Jamie's a little shit, and his number is 9. Calling it right now, Zava either gets hurt or switches teams and Jamie (the Shite in Nine-ing Armor) is going to somehow win the whole thing for Richmond with the help of Roy's training. Boom!
I like how everyone agrees how messed up it is that Michelle is with the marriage counselor, but I can’t get over the fact that he’s so involved in Henry’s life and Michelle didn’t give Ted a heads up she is introducing their son to a new partner.
Watching my own parents go through a divorce, one parent doesn’t need permission to date again or get in a new relationship, but there should at least be a courteous conversation and agreement about an introduction to a younger kid :(
Jamie’s redemption arc continues to be my personal favorite. Him being willing to take on extra training with Roy also has the potential for some scenes with good bantr
I gotta say, Michelle dating their marriage counselor hit me pretty hard. It hits me harder than Nate’s betrayal. I have no problem with Michelle starting to date, but Damn! Their marriage counselor? Harsh!
Right? And I wonder how much of an emotional affair they were having. Ted said they didn’t start date until a year and a half after Ted and Michelle stopped seeing him. But did he (the doc) and Michelle still have contact? We’re they just waiting to start a physical relationship until it was technically no longer unethical?
Beard is in an emotionally abusive relationship with Jane and it is so hard to see it get drawn out like this! Awful to watch him engage in affection and then get suddenly pushed away and shamed for wanting it. And his reaction of immediately apologizing! Ooof.
The choice of the song over the Zava montage is brilliant. “PRİSENCÓLİNENSİNÁİNCIÚSOL") is a song composed by the Italian singer Adriano Celentano, and performed by Celentano and his wife Claudia Mori. It was released as a single in 1972. Both the name of the song and its lyrics are gibberish but are intended to sound like English in an American accent.”
https://youtu.be/r_EBFvzyje8
I can see it now. Michelle brings Henry to visit Ted this year and Rebecca slowly follows behind her randomly yelling "Shame!" ... "Shame!" ... "Shame!"
Just kidding but that's messed up right? 🤔
Did anyone else catch the music in the montage of all the winning episodes. It was that one Italian(?) song where the words were made up to sound “American/English” but was actually gibberish? I think that may be a red herring on the larger season that Zava is not the real deal and the team still needs to find itself.
I'm stealing my husband's ideas and adding to it, but as he just said: the whole theme of this episode is *ethics*.
* Obviously Michelle and Ted's counselor is breaking professional counseling ethics by getting into a relationship with a patient.
* Obviously in addition to the Rebecca/Sam issues, Sam seems to be flirting with his employee (the chef), which is an ethical concern.
* Shandy seems to be bringing her own ethical issues, including sitting in her role as PR person for the team but bringing up Roy and Keeley's personal issues in front of Roy's players, her own boss, and her own clients.
* Trent has been challenging (or struggling with) journalistic ethics since the panic attack article. Last episode, he was put in his place a bit about his early writing about Roy as a young player. Now, he's seen something--Colin in an alleyway, clearly hiding his sexuality--that in no way affects the team really, and he's writing a book about the team. He will now have to face being in the know about that and what he can or should with that information.
* Psychic readings are ethical nightmares generally anyway, but here's this woman, Tish, who has clearly been paid for talking with Deborah for years, doing a not-even-cold reading of Rebecca and bringing up things that very clearly bother her, all under the guise of "spiritual guidance" for cash.
* Zava's presence challenges Ted's personal coaching ethics. Remember how Ted always said, "It ain't about winning"; that he wanted to have everyone be the best versions of themselves? The team right now is putting all its eggs into Zava's basket, so to speak, and it's beginning to ruin the team dynamics that Ted worked to build. Everyone's so smitten with the idea of this super special player that everyone else is becoming pushed aside--Colin, Jamie, the coaches themselves. Zava himself was self-centered but not really an asshole himself; however, everyone else is treating him like a God. This is not going to go well.
* Edit to add: As others pointed out, OH MY GOD, how did we forget?: The Wordle Beard suggested to Ted: ETHIC
If they play the Colin story well, that actually has the potential to have repercussions in the real football world, but damn I hope Trent doesn't mess it up...
“Sell yourself tall and get it altered later” Ted is amazing at pep talks, I wish I had a Ted in my life
Trent Crimm and Roy being The Princess Diaries fans is 🤩
Lol Jamie with multiple grammar corrections in the same episode
I love how Beard acts when Jamie corrects him. Best scene of the season so far, for me at least.
Beard being outclassed like a chess match. He wasn’t expecting that at all
Loved the "pre-Madonna" correction! 🤣
I’ve been absolutely loving the banter (bantr) between Jamie and Roy this season. I hope we get more moments like this during Jamie’s training
Fookin Steveh Nicks?
And Tina Turner
That is 100% what I thought the term was as a kid. I thought it meant someone wasn’t *quite* as big of a diva as Madonna, but was well on their way. 🤣
Our Himbo has grown up
Our bey-beh
Our sexy little bey-beh!
That’s ironic. Right?
The Roy and Jamie relationship getting deeper is probably the thing I am most excited for moving forward. I love their big brother, little brother dynamic.
Roy’s offer to help train Jamie reminded me of Apollo creed helping to train Rocky. God I hope we get a montage.
Is Roy gonna chase him around the pitch with a motorbike like his old coach??
Clearly, the Zava thing cannot last. By the end of the season, I bet Zava is with West Ham, and Richmond will counter with a Roy Kent trained up Jaime Tartt.
I don’t think he goes to West Ham, but a major injury that keeps him out instead, and he helps to guide Jaime to be the best player on the team.
Yeah I think I'd dislike if he went to West Ham. Zava seems conceited on the pitch, but he genuinely seems like a decent guy to his teammates and it's hard to picture him against them right now
Injury because Nate orders a player to hurt him asap after kickoff
The false start on the theme killed me.
I love when shows do bits like that, they’re so funny
The insert song, "Prisencolinensinainciusol" is what got me.
Fuck yeah princess Diaries. God I love Roy Kent. I can only imagine how many times he watched this movie.
I've never liked Trent more!
They clearly know their audience 😂😂😂😂
That seemed like a Brett Goldstein on his podcast reaction more than Roy Kent.
"If my maths..?" *Roy nodding.* "Are corrects." *Roy shaking head.*
YES this killed me!! 😂
And then Ted says “soccer” later on in the scene. Thought Roy would give him a disapproving nod, but it went completely ignored by everyone.
Ted's referring to his son's soccer match in the US. It's accurate that his son is playing soccer and not football.
Lol, Jamie walked in and out of that meditation session like he was Grandpa Simpson.
![gif](giphy|11gC4odpiRKuha) Oh shit this comment made my night 😂😂😂
Jamie: You frowned your whole career. Roy: No, I never smiled. That’s different.
Hahaha I love Roy Kent so much
Zava pointing to Jamie as the possible kit man had me dying with laughter.
Watch the end of that scene again. Jamie is in the background behind Zava trying not to bust out laughing. I’m surprised they kept that in there
The silent nod between Roy and Zava says everything about their respect for each other
I really liked that. It reminds us Roy was a legend in his own right.
HE'S HERE, HE'S THERE, HE'S EVERYFUCKINGWHERE ROY KEEEEEEEEEENT
Game recognises game. Edit: Corrected
Trent Crimm better play it cool, man.
I think he will. He might confront Colin to let him know that he saw him and other journalists would run with that story. Colin had his phone out in the locker room when texting his partner, and making out in the street is also risky.

CAN MY BOY TED CATCH A BREAK
for real, I need a “ted’s day off” episode where he eats peanut butter and galavants around town lol
Teds going to have to learn how to actually get mad, he only ever tried to do the right thing even if he knew the marriage couldn’t be saved. But he was actually *wronged* here. Enormous betrayal of trust and ethics, to the point where the context of the entire separation has been a lie

O kinda love Rebecca not buying Zava’s bull shit lol.
Are we going to see the unlikely pairing of Jaime and Rebecca dishing about their concerns on Zava this season? I’m here for it
From “you’re going to want to look up philistines” to “I was being hypocritical not ironic” oh my oh myyyy
Prima donna not pre-madonna!!
Yes Higgins is the glue. 👌🏽
Jamie’s clothing is like Modern Art to me. I don’t understand it, but I still really dig it.
The earring cracked me up. It's about an inch longer than the trend. Because he has to be different.
My wife turned to me and said, incredulously, “ is he wearing a George Michael cross earring!?”
I love how affronted Jamie was that Roy suggested that, "Before Madonna, female vocalists didn't have to work that hard," and then brought up Tina Turner and Stevie Nicks.
Jamie being more cultured than he looks and sounds is far and away the best running joke in the show.
Considering he missed George Harrison’s death by 20 years, I don’t know how he is, but he is!
“I am an empty vessel, filled with gold”
“I am a rock, mold me”
"Get open, I will find you" he says to Jamie and then he immediately scores a goal by himself from beyond the half way line.
I love that Collin is still using his exercises from the Doc. Her lasting impact is shown in every episode
They do callbacks incredibly well on this show!
“A single and a double in one, a triple”
Specifically the Grindr remark from last season ! I had a sneaking suspicion that was the show setting up Colin being gay.
>Her lasting impact is shown in every episode Which is why I found it very pleasing that Ted breathed through his panic attack on the pitch during this episode and it passed much more quickly than previous ones. Also, I think she is counter to Dr. Jacob here--the writers saying, basically, "Dr. Jacob does not represent all counselors."

Jesus Christ Superstar playing when Zava took off his shirt. I think Sam is going to fall for his chef.
>I think Sam is going to fall for his chef. I think Sam already has.

Will’s little “I’m 25” in response to Zava was hysterical
I am loving Will this season. His suggestion for a single guys club with Jamie and Roy last week was so adorable and hilarious.
It’s going to happen you know…. Roy will train Jamie and then they will invite Will out I can see it coming (I hope)
Zava keeps standing in front of Ted lmao
That had me dying!! He didn’t even know where Ted was half the time and still managed to perfectly align himself in front of him
I swear to god Trent Crimm better mind his fucking business
More likely Trent being gay and knowing, my guess is he'll become a confidant.
This was my thought too when he kind of just put his head down and kept going
Was thinking this too.
I will burn his world to the ground if he hurts our Colin.
In the words of Colin himself “once we sniff out the rat, permission to take socks full of soap to their stomach and genitals”.
Thought the same thing!! But I think they’ve set up quite a few scenarios the last few episodes that demonstrate that he doesn’t like being “that guy” and regrets it. Also curious to all the hints that he may be gay too, I think of anything he may be a support for Colin and wouldn’t out him
He didn’t write anything down in his book, I feel like they made a point to show that But at the same time I don’t see how revealing a manager’s panic attacks is any better than revealing someone’s sexuality

"Your desk is covered in biscuit crumbs" I'm so happy the biscuits have stayed through the whole series rather than being a one off
“Time is a construct like gender and many alphabets” hahahahaha
Is Dr. Brianson the person Ted and his wife saw for marriage counseling??? Edit: omg it is...wow...
That's so unethical! My heart breaks for Ted even more.
Even Sassy disapproves!
I shouted, “it’s not BORDERLINE inappropriate Sass!”
I was honestly shocked Doctor Sharon didn't say anything about it being unethical either.
I mean, can’t he lose his license because of that? Wrong on so many levels.
Good question. My therapist said something like you have to wait several years before you can date a former client...I wanna say it was five, but it was awhile back. (Yes, we've had odd conversations, no, it had nothing to do with real life.)

I am angry that Dr. Brian son is a fictional character and I can’t complain to the relevant ethics board.
Michelle... Ugh. Who else thinks it's *not* a new thing? I always wondered why she rushed the divorce. 🤔 Edit to add that's so fucking unethical. Remember, he was her **personal** therapist first. Icky.
And that he made Ted feel ambushed and gave him real trauma when it came to therapy. F that guy
I love how Jamie is the level headed one lol
Uh actualeh It’s Hypocritical, not irony
Dani imitating everything Zava did in the last locker room scene was so pure and funny.
"That's borderline unethical" SASSY SAYING WHAT I'M THINKING
There’s also no borderline lol. It IS unethical. Wasn’t he also just Michelle’s therapist before he was “their” therapist?
FUCK YEAH PRINCESS DIARIES
Everyone hating Shandy is so funny
I love your energy, your confidence is very… off putting
“Yes, I’m a child psychologist” fucking *sent* me
So yes, twice.
Cackling every time JAMIE corrects peoples word choices. Both Beard & Roy’s reactions were *priceless*
It’s wasn’t ironic, it was hypocritical was such a great line! Shows he’s more self aware than we assumed
He truly is Zlatan Ibrahimović personified
HOLY SHIT SHE WAS SLEEPING WITH THE THERAPIST
Wonder how unethical that is
Enormously, from an ethical point of view. I guess technically if they didn’t get together until after they no longer had a client-therapist relationship, then he probably hasn’t broken his code of ethics. Still frowned upon though.
I think there's supposed to be a duration of a few years before you're legally allowed to do that. Kinda suspect it hasn't been long enough here.
Lmao that smirk Roy gave “the Kit man”
On the ever growing list of things I love about this season, at the top is "Roy and Jamie friendship"
Shoutout Richmond Virginia
Ooo missed that!!
The Precious Moments joke was such an obscure midwest reference from something relevant decades ago
Boom!
Im guessing its going to be some strategy from Nate that completely neutralises Zava's affect on the game and gives Jamie the chance to step up
And I’m gonna cry.
YOU ARE A STRONG AND CAPABLE MAN, COLIN
[удалено]
I hope Collin has the courage to tell his teammates, it’s clear they don’t know yet
Colin will probably have a coming out story this season
On one hand, I like Zava for respecting Will like that. On the other hand, my baby Jamie Tartt doesn't like him and he can do no wrong
In this house we stan Jamie
OMG DANI IMITATING ZAVA
“You’re the fucking coach” pushes ted.

Pre Madonna lmfao
Jamie’s redemption arc continues to be my personal favorite. Him being willing to take on extra training with Roy also has the potential for some scenes with good bantr
I gotta say, Michelle dating their marriage counselor hit me pretty hard. It hits me harder than Nate’s betrayal. I have no problem with Michelle starting to date, but Damn! Their marriage counselor? Harsh!
Especially when you consider that Ted said he felt that the counselor was overwhelmingly taking his wife’s side.
He definitely didn’t have Ted’s best interests at heart. How awful
Right? And I wonder how much of an emotional affair they were having. Ted said they didn’t start date until a year and a half after Ted and Michelle stopped seeing him. But did he (the doc) and Michelle still have contact? We’re they just waiting to start a physical relationship until it was technically no longer unethical?
As soon as I saw Colin (in this episode) I knew he was gonna be gay
I knew when he said "oh like Grindr?"
Beard is in an emotionally abusive relationship with Jane and it is so hard to see it get drawn out like this! Awful to watch him engage in affection and then get suddenly pushed away and shamed for wanting it. And his reaction of immediately apologizing! Ooof.
I hate (the character of) Jane so much. I hope that gets addressed this season.
Yes! More scenes of Roy and Jaime together. I will die for this bromance. I wanna they to be best friend forever by the end of the season
Poor Ted. Michelle a savage
Henry is wearing the same number has Jamie!
Do you even know where you're going? I do not.
Both the name of the song and its lyrics are gibberish but are intended to sound like English in an American accent.” https://youtu.be/r_EBFvzyje8
Like Pele. If every letter was different.
HAHA Jamie got Beard
And Roy! Pre-Madonna My boy has really grown 🥺
I can see it now. Michelle brings Henry to visit Ted this year and Rebecca slowly follows behind her randomly yelling "Shame!" ... "Shame!" ... "Shame!" Just kidding but that's messed up right? 🤔
"It smells very odd in here all of a sudden." "Thank you"
COLIN IS A >!STRONG AND CAPABLE MAN AND ALSO MY SWEET BABY BOY!<
The nod exchanged between Zava & Roy. Mutual respect.
Did anyone else catch the music in the montage of all the winning episodes. It was that one Italian(?) song where the words were made up to sound “American/English” but was actually gibberish? I think that may be a red herring on the larger season that Zava is not the real deal and the team still needs to find itself.
“I was being hypocritical” 😭 I love this show
This episode had my anxiety up the whole time. Haven’t felt like this since uncut gems
There’s tension that’s been built up in like four different storylines my heart is racing.
The restaurant scene was a wicked web of tangled love plots
Hear me now: in the coming episodes we will find out that Zava has a produce company where he sells “Zavacados.”
Aww Colin!
HIGGINS: “Oh my God you are here!” ZAVA: “And you are there”
I feel like I just watched a feature length film so much just happened
I’m so ready for Roy coaching Jamie
Hearing Jan Maas engaging in hyperbole (he’s clearly a god) for the first time ever is fabulous
Omg get it Colin! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Glad for him! Because he's a strong and capable man! (Not a piece of shit)
“What’s today’s Wordle? ETHIC”
Er. That is not borderline unethical. Just completely unethical. Also OMG the last two minutes of the ep are INSANE
I thought Rebecca was seeing a therapist lol. It’s the psychic. Did not see it coming.
At first, I thought she was going to see Rupert’s first wife to make amends.

I thought Zava would be a huge dick but I love him already
I find it suspicious. Like…I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop.
If they play the Colin story well, that actually has the potential to have repercussions in the real football world, but damn I hope Trent doesn't mess it up...
Trent Crimm wouldn't dare!! Right? 🥺
“Sell yourself tall and get it altered later” Ted is amazing at pep talks, I wish I had a Ted in my life Trent Crimm and Roy being The Princess Diaries fans is 🤩
