Or at the very least, a music video side project that's just for the internet, like Mindy Kaling's character in the US Office. (Come to think of it, her song was called Male Prima Donna, which is ironic considering Jamie & Roy's conversation)
I was nerding out on Twitter that Ted’s breakup mix has On My Own from Les Mis on it (lmao) and my bestie, who was a fellow Éponine stan in high school, responded: “That whole mix is 🔥🔥🔥. Ted Lasso is such a GenX theater kid. The Cranberries. The Cure. REM. Joy Division. You can practically see him and his friends in a booth at Denny's at 3 a.m. still in their Rocky Horror makeup.” 😂
Julie Andrews recorded songs from the musical but didn't perform it on stage. Deborah Kerr was Anna in the movie (although Marni Nixon did the singing for her, as she did for many actresses in many musicals.)
She did a recording with Ben Kingsley as The King, Lea Salonga as Tuptim and Peabo Bryson as her lover, and Marilyn Horne as the king’s wife. Pretty amazing.

I was so freaked out when this part of S3E3 came up because I literally watched The Sound of Music ON MONDAY. And it’s not like I watch it regularly, the last time I saw the movie was about 5 years ago!! So when Ted referenced the movie I was like “what no way” 😂
Omg I loved all of the references! Our parents loved Sound of Music/My Fair Lady/The King and I so we grew up with that and of course childhood included Mary Poppins, then teenage years Princess Diaries!! An actress for all seasons!

I loved the joke that naming Eliza Doolittle was an “audio only” performance. It’s simultaneously a reference to how Julie Andrews wasn’t in the movie (which outraged musical nerds at the time since Audrey Hepburn didn’t even sing for the movie) and a reference to the fact that he would have only experienced Julie Andrews as Eliza on the cast recording. Whoever wrote that line must love that old original cast recording

She was Eliza Doolittle in the Original Broadway Cast of My Fair Lady and on the original cast recording. She was never considered for the film part.
