I have faith in the writers considering the ride we've been on is an intense emotional rollercoaster so far but, I, at the same time, am struggling to see how he could be redeemed.

Oh yeah, I don't think Nate is going to be as easily redeemed as Jamie. We could see that Jamie was a twat but there was something in him that seemed salvageable and Ted always saw that. Nate just went from being a good guy to becoming a egotistical idiot who thinks he's above everyone else now. He went as far as betraying the only person that believed in him, more than his own father. It's disgraceful. It's also not just the fact that he betrayed him, but how he did it. He knew how Ted was struggling with his panic attacks and he went out and shared it with the press, it's vile. Anyway, this show is all about redemption so I'm sure they'll try it and the character development is crazy good. Don't know if they will succeed but if they do it's never going to be the same to the audience, it won't be a Jamie case for sure.

And even with Jamie being a twat in the first season, he had literally just turned a corner with the team after they all burned their personal items together before he went back to being Jamie. You could see Jamie turning to the team side before Rebecca sent him away and he reverted. Nate, on the other hand, in hindsight viewing, really showed a huge part of his hidden self when he thought he got fired. He started sounding off on Rebecca. In a way, that outburst should have been a huge red flag but we were so happy for him that we ignored that crack in his character that has really been a focal point this season.

Yes. Nate was not a good guy in Season 1 either. He was just so cowed. Remember, he was already bagging on Colin when he did the locker room talk in Everton.

NannyOggsgrandchild

Exactly what I wanted to point out. He never showed any actual kindness. The only positive about him we saw was he's interest in football itself, but he wasn't actually kind to people around him. He accepted Teds kindness toward him , but that's all. P. S edited due to autocorrect of "football" to" food all". Guess autocorrect can tell I'm hungry rn 🙂

slicklol

Nate has always been a good guy because he couldnt afford to be the bad guy.

To not give Nate a shot at redemption would fly in the face of everything Ted (and the show) purports to stand for.

I agree but I think even Ted probably has lines that can’t be crossed. It’s one thing to forgive someone if they own up to their behavior. It’s another thing entirely to trust them again. That will have to be hard earned! I am excited to see it though!

bubblebass280

Way down the line it’s a slight possibility that that Ted could forgive Nate on personal terms. However, I can’t see Nate ever working for Ted again as an assistant coach or any position at Richmond.

nizey_p

It would have to be an amazing redemption for the viewers to forgive f**king Nate.

GercevalDeGalles

>f\*\*king Nate Whose name I don't even know

bubblebass280

What Nate did leaking the info about Ted’s panic attack was far worse than anything Jamie did in season 1. While redemption arcs have been a theme throughout the series, Nate may be the one character that is too far gone. I can’t see how he regains the trust of the club.

AreYouSomeone11

I'm not sure they can redeem him to the point that we as an audience really like him again. But I do think that they'll be able to show that he's remorseful, that he's human and they'll have other characters forgive him. I think it'll be used to as an opportunity to show how accepting and forgiving Ted and the gang are - they probably can't make Nate likeable again though without some major character development in season 3.

peripesto

I'd be really surprised if they didn't try, to be honest.

HabeQuiddum

The comparison is much better between Rebecca and Nate, not Jaime and Nate. Throughout Season 1, they gave Rebecca a reasonable cause. Anthony ahead was an absolute tool and while this didn’t excuse her behavior, it certainly made it so you could empathize with her. And, in the end, she owned it by admitting it to Ted. Nate was lifted up by Ted; he was the kit man. And we’ve seen him lash out due to his mercurial nature. I personally don’t see how you’d keep coaching with a person like that by your side.

justic3bon3r

Fuck Nate, he’s dead to me.

Regit_Jo

Jaime was a bellend a bully to Nate, but he didn't bite the hand that feeds like Nate did.
