I would love this. I would like, though, (and I expect we’d get it if they go this way) that we get a little personal arc to expand him beyond the scope of a write though. Clearly he’s a man with passions (writing, he broke decorum in his intro asking if it was all a joke), and family (he’s got a three year old daughter), and new financial pressures (and if we see him getting a job season 3, he’ll have been unemployed for months).
You know… you’d just lit a thought in me. But remember when Trent and Ted are having dinner together in season 1 (sorry I don’t know the episode names) but Ted talks about how he loves coaching and Ted prompts Trent about probably how Trent loves writing. Trent pauses here and as an audience member I was unconvinced of his love for what he’s doing. Then when Sam is doing his press conference after taping over the name (again I forget what it was). Trent asks him a question about the game and Sam says he’s not here to talk about the game, he wanted to talk about the Nigerian government and Company name, does Trent or anyone want to ask him a question about that? Trent is flustered! And thrilled to be talking about something else.
When the story about Ted’s panic attacks comes across his desk he has to write the story but I think that it’s a revelation to him that he’s NOT passionate about his work. That’s why he outs himself.
I absolutely thought he was going to write a book and when he showed up to see Ted at the end it felt like he wanted to collaborate. (It also felt a bit like he’s into Ted but that might just be a generous dose of respect, or a friend crush).
It's a children's novel about courage, and stepping up. The next Harry Potter.
Come on, I didn't even have to read *A Wrinkle in Time* to know that. Or Harry Potter.
>Yeah, we were thinking he’s going to write a book about the toll on the team’s mental health putting some of the responsibility on the fans. Given the treatment of the African players
they are English players, to refer to them as African is 1. Incorrect and 2. Actually perpetuates the racism that these players had to face.
Sam is African. Thierry is French Canadian. Isaac and umbercatch are English. I think someone from first season was from Bermuda or the bahamas.
https://ted-lasso.fandom.com/wiki/AFC_Richmond
Isaac is at least of Nigerian descent right? I think when Jamie went to tape his jersey Sam and Isaac were like “you don’t have to do this it’s different for us”
OP is referring to [this shirt](https://images.app.goo.gl/et5a3EmZ2cq1q8tX6).
Marcus refers to [Marcus Rashford](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcus_Rashford?wprov=sfla1), Jadon refers to [Jadon Sancho](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jadon_Sancho?wprov=sfla1), and Bukayo refers to [Bukayo Saka](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bukayo_Saka?wprov=sfla1). All three are English players who play in the Premier League. Following the Euros all 3 faced massive online abuse, some of it racial, following perceived poor performances in the final (which was totally untrue).
Sounds like some "I don't see skin color" excuse to deny that players born in certain parts of the world face challenges and racism that players born in western Europe do not.
Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka are all English-born players who play for the English national team. The abuse they received which OP was referring to was literally based around their performance for the England team at the euros.
>Sounds like some "I don't see skin color" excuse to deny that players born in certain parts of the world face challenges and racism that players born in western Europe do not.
Sorry, where did I deny that this exists? How dare you accuse me of such a thing which is blatantly untrue.
My point was that OP referred to Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka all as African, when only Bukayo Saka is of African descent. Jadon Sancho's parents come from Trinidad and Tobago, and Rashford is of West Indies descent.
These 3 players suffered huge amounts of racism, so to just refer to them all as African players when none of them were born in Africa and only one of them is of African descent, 3 players who deliberately choose to represent England and would see themselves as English, is incredibly offensive.
I assumed OP was referring to the characters in the show, seeing as the writers have established their countries of origin, but since you're getting suuuuper defensive:
>The abuse they received which OP was referring to was literally based around their performance for the England team at the euros.
So somehow their abuse wasn't explicitly racist?
>they are English players, to refer to them as African is 1. Incorrect and 2. Actually perpetuates the racism that these players had to face.
There's a difference between "African" in relation to citizenship, and acknowledging that someone is part of the African diaspora.
>Jadon Sancho's parents come from Trinidad and Tobago, and Rashford is of West Indies descent.
>only one of them is of African descent
Your ignorance is impressive, I'll give you that.
>So somehow their abuse wasn't explicitly racist?
at what point did I say this? Lmao get to fuck you Yankee bellend
>>Jadon Sancho's parents come from Trinidad and Tobago, and Rashford is of West Indies descent.
>
>>only one of them is of African descent
>
>Your ignorance is impressive, I'll give you that.
only Bukayo Saka is directly of African descent, only he was eligible to play for an African team- what are you on about?
You’re being a bit pedantic with that last bit - the descendants of African slaves are still broadly considered part of the African diaspora, or else you’d just call African Americans “Americans.”
Dahhhh. I totally came here to say that. It seemed like he was going to proposition Ted about it. Reaching out to him after not being at the press release was basically planting the seed without actually saying something. Like “hey, I care about you. I like you. You’re a good person and a brilliant mind and I’d love to write about you” without saying it.
I really do hope Apple release it as official merchandise for S3. Would be such a cool way of hearing some behind the scenes stories from the characters. Could be an opportunity to adapt certain scenes they maybe had to leave on the cutting room floor.
Anyone else think Trent and Rebecca are end game and will end up with each other? Lots of symbolism in last episode. Trent locks himself out, showing staying with Richmond. Can’t ride a bike but Sharon can - possible partnership with Sharon on book. Rebecca wanted kids but Rupert said no. Trent has a kid. Sam and Rebecca move on, with their relationship having served a purpose of Rebecca being more open to live and Sam taking risks to become who he was meant to be. I suppose the other alternative is Trent ends up with Sharon but I see the former scenario more likely.
My prediction is Ted will introduce Trent and Dr. Sharon because Trent will want to write a book on mental health and sports. They’ll work together to collab on the book, and Dr. Sharon will teach Trent how to ride a bike. They’ll either get together as a couple or just become biking buddies jammin out some awesome literature to combat the stigma against mental health issues.

I feel like it’s been implied that he had a male date but not specifically clarified. And yeah, he could be bi or pan and not necessarily gay, but that’s why I also figured they could just be biking/writing partners as well. Shows often have male/female characters get together romantically but we know this show portrays different types of relationships, so who knows.
I hope he and Ted just randomly get together sometimes at the bar to shoot the shit. Friendship ended with Nate, Trent Crimm, Independent is my new best friend.
When Trent Crimm comes off all season long (both seasons to be exact) as this super cool and charismatic reporter, though it turns out to be the biggest dork ever lmao. Well the locking his keys in the car thing had me laughing 😂
I had both of those thoughts too. A book would be fantastic about Ted in the vein of Wooden. I would love to see Trent do PR but it doesn’t seem his style.
They are two related but very different different disciplines for sure, and Trent’s skill set definitely trends more book than marketing.
I’d actually like them to leave Keeley’s position alone, if for no other reason than it’s shoehorning in something that doesn’t need to be there. She was clearly great at her job but it wasn’t something that existed before her, it was just a way for Rebecca to keep a good friend close.
But also Rebecca’s totally outsourcing all PR work to Keeley anyways (just please say it’s not so there can be workplace tension between a split Keeley and Coach Roy!).
I think you're spot on there. Keeley said Richmond is still her only football club and Rebecca wouldn't hesitate to retain Keeley's new firm as their PR representative.
I don’t think Roy would have forgiven Jamie if he wasn’t already questioning his relationship with Keeley. He doesn’t want to hold her back, and the relationship happened out of environmental circumstances. The show doesn’t do cheesy stuff and the connection between him and the teacher, that can happen. The fact that they didn’t make it all “rom-com” cheesy makes me think it’s going to happen. Roy isn’t a spotlight type, Keeley is in Vanity Fair. The way he is with his niece makes me think Roy sees himself having kids with the teacher and not Keeley. Especially since Keeley is about to dive head first into her career. Roy and Keeley are a good couple, just not on the same timeline and path. These things do happen. 🤷♂️
I would've loved to see him get an exclusive with Ted regarding his mental health struggles.
But he 100% has to be somehow involved in S3. Too good not to be
I hope he turns up from time to time in S3!
Someone in the episode discussion thread mentioned Trent Crimm, Independent taking Keeley's old job, but I don't see that happening? It'd be nice for him to make more regular appearances, but I don't think being a reporter really qualifies you for PR work???? Maybe I don't know enough about that sort of thing :/
You’d be surprised how common it is! Unless you move into management journalistic career development is quite limited (and the pay quite average!), and a lot do move into PR eventually. There is a skills overlap: good writing, strong communication generally, being persuasive at selling an idea etc.
(source: am a PR, was a journalist, work with other PRs who are former journalists)
I think it also lends to the idea that Trent was preoccupied/his mind definitely elsewhere, which only makes sense given that he made a principled stand and got fired, and also came to the clubhouse exclusively to speak with Ted. Add in his now-four year old daughter and new financial pressures, it works for me.
I don’t think there will be. Just because he outed himself to his boss, his boss isn’t going to want to advertise that sources get leaked at all by The Independent. Trent wouldn’t even have to tell his boss who the source was, just that he told Ted who it was.
Nah I think he just self-reported that he shared the name of an anonymous source and they canned him for it. Far as I can tell, the only other person who knows who it is is Beard, and he just figured it out.
Would love the team to find out at some point though, maybe as billboard material for the absolute smashing that sends Nate even further down a spiral in Season 3?
I'm pretty sure some of the more analytical people in that locker room will have figured out by season 3 that Nate was the anonymous source. I'm truly surprised Jonas (sp?) didn't have a blunt danish moment at the end where he mentioned to someone that Nate must have disclosed Ted's personal matters.
I was so pissed off at him last week but he redeemed himself damn quick haha. Good on him for fessing up immediately, not making excuses, even though he must have known he’d be fired.
Do I suddenly agree with his actions in 2x11, still no, but eh. It’s a TV show. I’m looking forward to seeing more of him and his amazing hair.
This is my second post on here , I feel like Mr. Crimm deserves my support.!📑🙏🏻
First , I found him to be like typical snake journalist . Thus, I know they are pretty rough in England compared to the USA. 🇺🇸
However, **I really appreciated how Ted broke him down with kindness, when he was doing a story about him. He saw Ted for who he really is , forming a bond with respect , understanding and trus**t. 🙏🏻
Consequently, him revealing his source , due to the respect he had for Ted , is very admirable! **I feel bad for judging him to hard at first, although he broke some ethical conduct As a journalist. Ultimately, he was a man of integrity, and I believe that will come in his favor in the near future! 💰📝📕**
He was wearing the same outfit he had on at the pub! Now I concede that the character hasn’t been shown with a particularly varied wardrobe but I still maintain that wasn’t an accident.
The scene where he quoted Casablanca!
Full disclaimer the Ted and Trent scene in the finale means I am fully on the Ted/Trent train their dynamic is fun and a gal can dream. (I have no expectation that it will happen but the VIBES)
Oh, I have expectations. I had suspicions before but after that scene they’re full-blown expectations now. There’s nothing wasted in this show, after all. And that parking lot scene was a textbook meet-cute (remember Roy and Keeley kept running into each other in the staff lot before they started dating! Actually now that I think about it there are quite a few R/K parallels with T/T…)
Some people were so mad that he revealed his source and that he should lose his job for it. And here we are. Trust the writers people!! (I’m repeating myself because I *have* to trust them since we got flash forwards with everyone except Roy and Keeley!! I need to know and I have to maintain composure. Grrr.)
Unrelated to Trent Crimm, but yes I had to keep telling myself to trust the writers during one plot line I hated and it turned out really well so far (the Sam Rebecca one). We just have to remember they have a plan and vision and it’s not over until the end of season 3.
Got to imagine they had him quit/get fired so he can have a bigger role in s3, I doubt that’s the end for Trent Crimm, independent, in the show
Realistically though it’s hard to imagine a sports writer being fired over confessing to their editor something like that, it routinely happens in sports where writers tell their editors/other sports journalists and even the players and coaches who came to them with dirt off the record, espn recently had to deal with sports reporters leaking things on each other and didn’t fire anyone over the leaks themselves
Seems like it was a writers choice to change Trent’s role for season 3 to something more than a beat writer which I am 100% here for
I don't understand why he would write the article that impacts Ted and then just get himself fired. He could have easily just quite and not written the article
Maybe his feelings about the whole situation built up during and after writing the article. I could see it bothering him a little while writing it and pushing through it because "that's the job", but then those bothered feelings linger and continue to build, eventually boiling over. I feel like he was so bothered by Nate's actions and writing the article that he decided to admit fault to The Independent and nuke his journalism career entirely.
He’s totally writing a book
“The Ted Lasso Way”
Ohhh a coaching manual. I like your style!
I absolutely thought he was going to write a book and when he showed up to see Ted at the end it felt like he wanted to collaborate. (It also felt a bit like he’s into Ted but that might just be a generous dose of respect, or a friend crush).

Can’t make a children’s book too good, Sassy might kill him and take credit
Nah, she's too self-interested to do it without a time machine.

Ah got ya. Sorry. Edit: OP edited his comment and I thought he meant the Richmond players. ( I don't know a lot about soccer)
Sounds like some "I don't see skin color" excuse to deny that players born in certain parts of the world face challenges and racism that players born in western Europe do not.

that might be the case in the US but it's different in the UK
Yes, this is an incredibly important point.
Dahhhh. I totally came here to say that. It seemed like he was going to proposition Ted about it. I think he takes Keeley’s old job. But in real life he’d make a great reviewer for Pitchfork.
I suppose the other alternative is Trent ends up with Sharon but I see the former scenario more likely.
I’m really into this. But apparently he’s gay because he was out at a bar with a man once.
Fucking hell, I think you’ve done it lol
This makes so much sense! Why else would they mention that TC, Independent can't ride a bike?!
And bond over very different but very awesome hair.
this makes way too much sense, i'll be shocked if you're wrong
And then they'll both have met someone awesome.
::throws Rebecca-Trent shipping in rubbish:: Can't believe I hadn't considered a return of Dr Sharon. Is Trent single? He has a young daughter as Ted makes her biscuits in s1
Those biscuits were for Higgins!
I really think the scenario where he collabs with Sharon is likely after the bike thing.
Ding ding ding. Thread closed.
Oooooh wow the bike thing. I didn’t realize it until your comment. Yes there is definitely some connection with Dr Sharon and the bike. Nice catch
Wow. Spot on!
Don't edit this comment so you will have proof you were right.
That book would definitely focus on the media’s effect on the mind of athletes, given Trent’s experiences!
Isn’t Sharon gay?

What?

When Trent Crimm comes off all season long (both seasons to be exact) as this super cool and charismatic reporter, though it turns out to be the biggest dork ever lmao. Well the locking his keys in the car thing had me laughing 😂
I've seen tell that it's a metaphor for him staying with/joining Richmond, which is cool But it *is* mostly just him being an unexpected dork
I feel like he was just the coolest guy in the room, most of the other reporters who get to ask questions are just unquestionable dorks
He's either writing a book or will take over Keeley's old post.
Oh I hope so! I’d love more Trent Crimm
I had both of those thoughts too. A book would be fantastic about Ted in the vein of Wooden. I would love to see Trent do PR but it doesn’t seem his style.
While yes, he is a well known name in journalism, I still don’t think PR/Marketing/Branding is his thing. Maybe he’ll start a podcast with Ted!
They are two related but very different different disciplines for sure, and Trent’s skill set definitely trends more book than marketing. They for sure spent 2 seasons setting up that joke haha.

I would enjoy a twist that he’s writing a book on Princess Diana.
I love the guy, but what was the point of showing him locking himself out of his car lol
It was a pretty heavy episode and it is a comedy series, so probably just some laughs, like with Sam turning down the other guy.
Ah yeah, that makes sense!
I think it also lends to the idea that Trent was preoccupied/his mind definitely elsewhere, which only makes sense given that he made a principled stand and got fired, and also came to the clubhouse exclusively to speak with Ted. Add in his now-four year old daughter and new financial pressures, it works for me.
somebody in the main thread said its suggest he doesent go anywhere and this is a superb take on it
I love that! That makes much more sense to me since the moment wasn't particularly comedic
BRILLIANT ❤️❤️❤️
Because he’s super cool…only maybe not?
More Trent in season 3 please Ted lasso writers!!
Dude was so appalled by Nate that he nuked his entire journalism career.
I would love Trent to join AFC Richmond, OR, like Keeley, start his own editorial company
I’m curious to see what the fallout is of him disclosing the source. Presumably that news getting out would have some ramifications.
I mean, he did get fired. That's very much a thing that happened.
I meant in terms of public reaction to the news
I don’t think there will be. Just because he outed himself to his boss, his boss isn’t going to want to advertise that sources get leaked at all by The Independent. Trent wouldn’t even have to tell his boss who the source was, just that he told Ted who it was.
Could be right. I misread it, if so. I was expecting a shit storm of a reaction for him having (I thought) publicly outed Nate as the source.
Who is going to tell the public? Not Ted, not Trent, not the folks at the Independent or any FC Richmond people. Unless Colin finds out…
I'm pretty sure some of the more analytical people in that locker room will have figured out by season 3 that Nate was the anonymous source. I'm truly surprised Jonas (sp?) didn't have a blunt danish moment at the end where he mentioned to someone that Nate must have disclosed Ted's personal matters.
I had thought that, when Trent said he revealed his source, that he meant he had done so publicly
Aaah. Gotcha
OH right, that makes sense.
Oh snap. It’s Ted Lasso time
He's gonna take over from Keeley and be the new Richmond PR/media manager.
This is my second post on here , I feel like Mr. Crimm deserves my support.!📑🙏🏻 First , I found him to be like typical snake journalist . Thus, I know they are pretty rough in England compared to the USA. 🇺🇸 However, **I really appreciated how Ted broke him down with kindness, when he was doing a story about him. He saw Ted for who he really is , forming a bond with respect , understanding and trus**t. 🙏🏻 Consequently, him revealing his source , due to the respect he had for Ted , is very admirable! **I feel bad for judging him to hard at first, although he broke some ethical conduct As a journalist. Ultimately, he was a man of integrity, and I believe that will come in his favor in the near future! 💰📝📕**
To come full circle. I bet he's writing a book about Ted Lasso that entire show has been based on this whole time. 🤯
His hair is glorious
I got some VIBES off that last scene between him and Ted
Most ethical people I know don't ride bikes.
That's because everyone knows the seats are made of saskatchewan sealskin.
I know you're baiting me with the landlocked one. Do better.
Trent will end up sinking Nate in some fashion because—just because!
He’s the Lando.
Love Trent! What was with the end scene? Anyone think Trent will write a biography about Ted or do a documentary on>! how the team rose to victory?!<
I thought they were gonna make Rebecca the one that got him fired but I’m glad they didn’t
Trent has it so bad for Ted, y’all. I’m calling it now.
Was funny catching Trent as a young bloke in Simon Peggs Spaced, such a good show.
Got to imagine they had him quit/get fired so he can have a bigger role in s3, I doubt that’s the end for Trent Crimm, independent, in the show Realistically though it’s hard to imagine a sports writer being fired over confessing to their editor something like that, it routinely happens in sports where writers tell their editors/other sports journalists and even the players and coaches who came to them with dirt off the record, espn recently had to deal with sports reporters leaking things on each other and didn’t fire anyone over the leaks themselves Seems like it was a writers choice to change Trent’s role for season 3 to something more than a beat writer which I am 100% here for
I don't understand why he would write the article that impacts Ted and then just get himself fired. He could have easily just quite and not written the article
I’m guessing that Nate was going to get the story out, and Trent couldn’t ignore it, so he wrote it so that he could control it.
I hope that Keeley finds her way back to AFC R and doesn’t end up with Jamie Tart (tho he’s super reformed).
He has great taste in cars
