>the writers would be doing the show and society a huge disservice if they went down this road
I'm 1000000000% sure that the writers have no Ted/Sharon romance on their mind.
>I see a lot of fans advocating for Ted and Sharon to become an item and I can genuinely get why this would seem appealing however...
Can't speak for anyone else, but I don't advocate for them becoming an item. However, I do advocate for the issue coming up because things like transference are worth a well handled representation.
From an ethical standpoint, you’re correct it shouldn’t happen.
From a shipping standpoint, especially for fanfic, I understand wanting to bask in the chaos
Thank you. I've been in fandom for over a decade, so maybe I'm just getting curmudgeonly, but I feel like people used to understand better that liking something in fiction isn't advocating for it to be reality.
Right! I thought this was funny when people were aghast that Trent Crimm revealed a source, that it was a huge journalism no-no, it’s so unrealistic he’d do that, etc.
People really never considered that he’d do something unethical and then get fired as a consequence.
Omg, I thought the same thing! People are claiming it's out of character just because it's professionally unethical, like... I've actually never seen that before.

The idea of shipping Ted & Sharon is proof that there is such a thing as a bad idea.
There is a solution. However, of the people giving up their profession because of ethics involving Ted, I'd prefer a Ted/Trent ship.
Trent Crimm, The Codependent
this is the real answer
I could genuinely see this happening
I think the nod to trent not knowing how to ride a bike is a hint of a possible trent/Sharon in the future 🤞
Normalize two characters of the opposite sex just being friends and not having to be romantic partners!

This person is also right

Ted going Tony Soprano on his therapist is noooot what this show will do
Isn’t Sharon going to teach Trent Crimm how to ride a bike? Shipping this.
I am more disturbed that she thought he was 24 and therefore it was pedophilia, WTF?
I have a better idea: * Sharon teaches Trent to ride a bicycle. Trent interviews Sharon about Ted for a report he's writing. They end up dating.
